Eternally EvenIn regards to his second full-length, Jim James says I wanted to make an album that hopefully speaks to the issues of the day, many of which, sadly, are issues we have been dealing with since the beginning of time. Most of what I think about right now is how so many things in the world are SO fucked up- our political system is broken and corrupt...our earth is being destroyed by climate change...people are not treating each other with equality and respect... and I think- are we going to make it? Are we going to figure it out and fix it before it's too late? Can we ever truly open our hearts and embrace love in all its beautiful forms? I think it's still possible. I still have hope in humanity. I'm just trying to be a part of the discussion and encourage people to speak out for equality, to not be afraid to speak out for peace and love. All of us feel afraid at times in these absolutely insane times, but it's important we speak our minds, cast our votes, and do not give in to fear and hatred.1. Hide In Plain Sight

Circuital (Awaiting Repress)Acclaimed Band Goes Back to Kentucky Rock Roots on Scintillating 2011 Set
Adventurous, Organic, Focused, and Fun: Jim James and Co. Get Their Jam On
LPs Cut at 45PRM and Pressed on 180g Audiophile Vinyl: Excellent Sonics
My Morning Jacket's sixth studio album, the stunning Circuital, finds the band going back to its Kentucky rock roots while still mixing in tempered amounts of the experimentalist streaks on its two previous efforts. The album was recorded in Louisville, KY and Nashville, TN and co-produced by frontman Jim James and Tucker Martine (R.E.M., Sufjan Stevens, The Decemberists). The result is yet another reinvention of the group's sound that both forges new ground and maintains the distinct spirit of MMJ's previous genre bending work.
Critics were already praising the effort on the week before its release, and James has rarely expressed such open-minded admiration for his own work. Plus, the sound is riveting. And vinyl is the way to hear this excellent record, as the two 180g LPs are cut at 45rpm and housed in gatefold packaging. Includes poster insert with lyrics and inner sleeves with full color artwork.
Recorded in a Louisville church gymnasium, Circuital is just as adventurous, yet more organic and focused; when James sings, Play it smart, soul intact/How you react is what you'll get back, against lovely circular guitar shimmer on You Wanna Freak Out, he's like the beard-rock version of Coach Taylor from Friday Night Lights, showing the boys how to relax and channel their inner jam.
--Jon Dolan, Rolling Stone, May 26, 2011
The [title track] is the centerpiece of what in the vinyl era wouldve been Side 1 of the album, with the tracks sequenced to melt one into the next. The ascending, trance-like Victory Dance, the undulating finger-picked guitar and yearning vocal of Wonderful (The Way I Feel), the surreal combination of Beach Boys-like vocals and pedal-steel guitar on Outta My Systemit makes for a brilliant start and raises expectations that My Morning Jacket has finally made its classic.

Regions Of Light And Sound Of GodRegions of Light and Sound of God is the first solo album from Jim James, the singer, songwriter and guitarist for My Morning Jacket. Over the course of fifteen years and six studio albums, James has been the focal point of a group that has grown into one of the most acclaimed and successful rock and roll bands in the world. With this project, he reaches into new territory that extends, but doesn't break from, My Morning Jacket's accomplishments.
Until now, James had never felt the call to create a longer-form album on his own. "I'm very lucky to play in a band with guys that I love, who are great at what they do," he says, "so on My Morning Jacket records, I don't have a need to play bass or keys or what have you. But as a person and as a musician, I love to play every instrument under the sun, and I wanted to make a record where I played all the instruments and produced/engineered it myself."
The results are nine songs that resist easy categorization, from the hazy space-funk of the opening "State of the Art (A.E.I.O.U.)" to the chiming, operatic pop of "A New Life." On Regions of Light and Sound of God, nothing is what it seems-touchstones from old-school R&B or island folk or hip-hop flicker into focus and then disappear; a delicate instrumental is titled "Exploding." It's complex but cohesive, intimate and hypnotic where My Morning Jacket might turn more wide-screen and epic.
"The album knew what it wanted to be," says James. "The songs would tell me what they wanted to be, and I just had to search around and find those sounds to bring them into this world."1. State of the Art (A.E.I.O.U)

UNIM-CAR-2062xJD & The Straight Shot
Where I've Been"I think this is the best work we've ever done," explains JD & The Straight Shot founder and frontman Jim Dolan of the band's latest release, Where I've Been. "I'm so proud of the music that my band and I have put together. I believe in this album."
Produced by Joe Walsh, Where I've Been features several breakthrough singles including "Governor's Song," which challenges some of today's most well-known political figures; "Under That Hood," a transformative single that tells the tragic story of Trayvon Martin; and "Hard to Find," which will be featured in the highly-anticipated film, St. Vincent, starring Bill Murray and Melissa McCarthy.
Dolan's day gig is Cablevision Systems CEO and Executive Chairman of Madison Square Garden, where he also oversees New York sports teams such as the Knicks and the Rangers. Music is his passion.
"I needed something in my life where I felt like I was actually creating," says Dolan. "Most of what I do as an executive is orchestrate. I don't actually set up cable and I don't really shoot hoops," he says, laughing. "Music is something I've played since I was a kid. It's me purely expressing myself."
JD & The Straight Shot's creative nucleus is Dolan and guitarist Marc Copely (B.B. King), who pen all the band's music and lyrics. Instrumentally indispensable is guitarist Aidan Dolan; keyboardist Brian Mitchell (Bob Dylan, Levon Helm); and drummer Joe Magistro (The Black Crowes). Also part of the band are some of pop music's finest session players, bassist Zev Katz (Aretha Franklin, Elton John), and violinist Erin Slaver (Rod Stewart, Trace Adkins, Martina McBride).
Dolan started JD & The Straight Shot in 2000. The band has recorded four previous albums: Midnight Run (2012), Can't Make Tears (2011), Right On Time (2008), and Nothing To Hide (2005) - as well as an EP, Daily News Blues (2010).
The band's style is steeped in the quiet fire of Americana, with distinctive elements of the blues and mystical, rustic, New Orleans-flavored roots music - topped off with a dash of the classic rock of Dolan's youth.
"I grew up on bands like the Allman Brothers," says Dolan. "We played those records until the grooves wore right off of them."
JD & The Straight Shot has been covered by The New York Times, Billboard, and New York Magazine, among other publications, and performed on "Good Day New York." Their song "Can't Make Tears" is the theme song for AMC's TV show Hell on Wheels, and their music has been featured in many films, including the critically acclaimed August: Osage County.
The group has opened for the Eagles on several tours, including the current "History of the Eagles" tour, the "Summer 2010" tour, and the band's stadium tour with the Dixie Chicks and Keith Urban. JD & The Straight Shot has also opened up for both Joe Walsh and Don Henley's solo tours, the James Gang reunion tour, and performed at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Austin City Limits.1. The 10 best songs from 1969's Yer' Album, 1970's Rides Again and 1971's Thirds. The James Gang, formed in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1966, may be best known as the band that was first to feature guitarist/vocalist Joe Walsh before his rise to stardom as a solo musician and a member of the Eagles.
The James Gang performed with a stylistic versatility, hard-rocking edge and ultra-sharp musicianship. Their power-trio template has never sounded fiercer than on this Analogue Productions 200-gram reissue. Mastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio, pressed at Quality Record Pressings - makers of the world's finest-sounding LPs - and packaged in a tip-on heavyweight jacket from Stoughton Printing, this sterling reissue looks as great as it sounds.
You'll hear James Gang favorites including the FM radio staple Funk #49, - kick-started by the outspoken declaration I sleep all day, out all night/I know where you're goin' - the sexual thrust of the head-bobbing Woman, and proto-metal slash of the multi-part The Bomber. The rest of the track list is just as steeped in psychedelic-and-blues-leaning discourse. Midnight Man, Stop, Yadig? Take A Look Around, Funk #48, Walk Away and the Jack Nitzsche-orchestrated Ashes the Rain and I are rounded out by Walsh's Echoplex-equipped slide guitar, and his trio-mates, band founder Jim Fox on drums, piano and vocals, and bassist Tom Kriss, later replaced by Dale Peters.

We're All Gonna DieDawes' highly anticipated new album We're All Gonna Die will be released via the band's own HUB Records.
Of the album, Taylor Goldsmith (guitar, vocals) explains, "Pretty much every song on this record explores a difficult situation and tries to find a way to find the good in it, or at least remind yourself that it's not always that big of a deal. After all, as scary as it is, we are all gonna die."
The album was produced by Grammy nominated producer Blake Mills (Alabama Shakes) and includes backing vocals from Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe of Lucius, Mandy Moore and Will Oldham.
Dawes has toured extensively playing headline shows worldwide and major festival appearances including Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza and Newport Folk Festival. Recently, they have toured with My Morning Jacket, Bob Dylan, Mumford and Sons, Conor Oberst, and Jackson Browne.
In the fall of 2014, Goldsmith contributed to Lost On The River: The New Basement Tapes, an album project which found collaborators Elvis Costello, Rhiannon Giddens (Carolina Chocolate Drops), Taylor Goldsmith (Dawes), Jim James (My Morning Jacket), Marcus Mumford (Mumford & Sons) and producer T Bone Burnett writing and creating music for a treasure trove of recently discovered lyrics handwritten by Bob Dylan in 1967 during the period that generated the recording of the legendary Basement Tapes.
Fellow collaborator Jim James proclaims about We're All Gonna Die, "The record sounds so fresh-yet fills me with a strange nostalgia for things that haven't happened yet...I hear it at the beach and blasting out of car windows on future summer nights...easily having become a natural part of people's lives."1. Evil Urges (Awaiting Repress)One of the Most Highly Anticipated Albums of 2008!
My Morning Jacket expands their stylistic boundaries with each newly successive release and true to form Evil Urges, their fifth studio album, may be their most diverse effort yet. Jim James, the bold and fearless frontman for the group, even flaunts his falsetto on a handful of tracks. My Morning Jacket had little reason to try anything new at all considering their previous album, Z, was one of the most critically acclaimed albums of 2005 and was prematurely being described by many as the group at their creative peak. I feel like Z is the perfect bridge from what we were gradually doing before and Z to Evil Urges is the perfect bridge between everything. On the first listen, there's a lot of variety in a lot of different places, but I think after repeated listens, hopefully the listener would understand the similarities more than the differences, explains James. In a matter of 6 years, My Morning Jacket has evolved from just another alt-country band into something of bigger, more epic proportions. There are parts of our band that are tied to roots, James says, and there are also parts where we want to experiment.
The past several My Morning Jacket albums have each reflected the passion that the band shares for music of all categories while continuing to nurture their signature aesthetic. Stylistically, Evil Urges is the album that My Morning Jacket has been making for almost ten years. Their previous work has emboldened them with the confidence to continue to grow in ways few artists would be capable of achieving. Admirably, Jim James' songwriting manages to remain as organic and cohesive as ever, making their musical leaps forward fluid, logical, entertaining and inspiring.
More than ever before, the band treated the studio itself as a musical instrument for the recording of Evil Urges. Thus co-producers Jim James and Joe Chiccarelli (The Shins, White Stripes) truly collaborated on the band's most ambitious and convincingly executed album to date.1. Evil Urges

Mondo Amore is the sophomore release from American singer/songwriter Nicole Atkins. Her sound is known for its mix of traditional vocal styles and introspective lyrics and has been compared to Roy Orbison and singers from the Brill Building era. The album has its genesis in a time of extreme turbulence for Atkins, a period which saw her parting ways with her former major label, while also dealing with the painful termination of a long-term personal relationship. Additionally, her former backing band abandoned the project a week after they started recording the new album.
Atkins dealt with these changes by creating a more volatile sound than she had ever previously attempted, a sonic approach akin to such influences as Scott Walker and Nick Cave, while also touching on longtime inspirations like the blues and classic '60s psychedelic rock. I'm Not There (Bob Dylan)Import
I'm Not There is a meta-biographical film re-imaging the life of Bob Dylan as portrayed by six different actors - Marcus Carl Franklin, Ben Whishaw, Heath Ledger, Christian Bale, Richard Gere, and Cate Blanchett - in six different phases of the artists life and career.
The 4LP I'm Not There set features songs from and inspired by this film. The new interpretations of Bob Dylan songs are performed by an eclectic cavalcade of acclaimed and celebrated contemporary musicians including Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam), Sonic Youth, Jim James (My Morning Jacket), Jack Johnson, Sufjan Stevens, Mark Lanegan and many others!
Many of the album's performances include backing from The Million Dollar Bashers, an ensemble created especially for 'Im Not There' by Sonic Youth guitarist Lee Ranaldo, featuring Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley, Television guitarist Tom Verlaine, Wilco bassist Nels Cline, guitarist Smokey Hormel, keyboardist John Medeski and long-time Bob Dylan band bassist Tony Garnier. Other tracks on the album feature the alternative-country band Calexico backing up artists.
I'm Not There includes two versions of the enigmatic title track, a new interpretation performed by Sonic Youth and the original Bob Dylan recording, a rare often-bootlegged outtake from The Basement Tapes sessions which has been unavailable on any official release for a long time.LP1

More RainM. Ward has released a string of acclaimed solo albums over the past
several years, along with five LPs with Zooey Deschanel as She & Him
and a 2009 collaborative album with My Morning Jacket's Jim James
and Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis under the moniker
Monsters of Folk. In addition to his celebrated work as a musician,
Ward is an accomplished producer, handling those duties for such
luminaries as Mavis Staples, Jenny Lewis, and Carlos Forster as well as
his own musical projects.
More Rain, Ward's eighth solo affair, finds the artist picking up the
tempo and volume a bit from his previous release, 2012's A Wasteland
Companion. Where that record introspectively looked in from the
outside, More Rain finds Ward on the inside, gazing out. Begun four
years ago and imagined initially as a DIY doo-wop album that would
feature Ward experimenting with layering his own voice, it soon
branched out in different directions, a move that he credits largely to
his collaborators here who include R.E.M.'s Peter Buck, Neko Case,
k.d. lang, The Secret Sisters, and Joey Spampinato of NRBQ. The
result is a collection of upbeat, sonically ambitious yet canonically
familiar songs that both propel Ward's reach and satisfy longtime fans.1. [More Rain]

Grammy Award winner Ray LaMontagne is set to release his seventh studio album, Part Of The Light via RCA Records. The album was written and produced by Ray LaMontagne and will feature the first single, "Such A Simple Thing."
Ray LaMontagne has released 6 studio albums, 5 of which have reached Top 10 on Billboard's Top Rock Albums chart and Billboard's Digital Albums chart. Additionally, his 2010 album God Willin' & the Creek Don't Rise won the Grammy for Best Folk Album and was nominated in the coveted Song of The Year category for "Beg Steal or Borrow."
Each release from his catalog over the last 13 years carries its own character and feel. Having worked with producers Ethan Johns, Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys and Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Ray's vast sonic catalogue has been called everything from "a perfect throwback to the lost art of the album-length format," from Entertainment Weekly to "epic and magical," from Rolling Stone and "gorgeous and ambitious," from Esquire. NPR's All Things Considered said that Ray throughout the course of his career "has continued to push himself in different directions," while People called Ray a "marvel of nature."1. To the Sea
