The Secret Cinematic Sounds of Jimmy Urine

For over a decade, Mindless Self Indulgence, a four-member outfit based out of New York City featuring frontman Jimmy Urine, have been whipping crowds of eager fans in to furious riots with their heart-pounding electro-punk and death-defying stage antics. Over the years, they developed a devoted following, spawned bidding wars between major labels, and earned a reputation as a tough live act to follow, from clubs to arenas.

With MSI currently on hiatus, Jimmy Urine is extending his creative palette in movie soundtracks and video game music including 'Metronomicon', 'I Want To Be Human', 'The Hive' and more. He has now collected all those songs and is releasing them as one compilation album that will be out on vinyl via The End Records.

In addition to this album, Jimmy Urine is also appearing in the upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. II movie.

I'm Jimmy Reed / Rockin With Reed

    Import

There's simply no sound in the blues as easily digestible, accessible, and instantly recognizable as the music of Jimmy Reed. His debut LP release, I'm Jimmy Reed, was about as strong a first album as was heard in Chicago blues. Really a collection of single sides rather than an actual album of new material, the tracks were recorded from June 1953 (Roll & Rhumba) through March 1958 (You Got Me Crying ) and include the songs on which he'd built his reputation over the previous five years, key among them: Honest I Do,Ain't That Lovin' You Baby, You Got Me Dizzy, and You Don't Have to Go, plus their highly relevant B-sides, which help give this album more depth and breadth than a formal hits collection would have had.

Jimmy Reed's second album was a little different from his first. It is also a collection with previously released single sided recorded and released over the prior seven years; but three of the dozen songs here were new to listeners when they showed up on Rockin' with Reed. This album is every bit as enjoyable and equally essential listening, includingDown in Virginia, Going to New York, and Take Out Some Insurance, the latter two the latest recordings on this album; and even the one or two seeming throwaway here, the instrumentals Ends & Odds and My BitterSeed are worth hearing for what they reveal of the playing on these sessions. Reed's incredibly expressive voice, coupled with his sinewy guitar and virtuoso-level harp playing, is consistently great throughout.

    Django And Jimmie

Django & Jimmie, the new studio album collaboration from Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, two of the founding fathers of American outlaw country music. The legendary singer-songwriters join forces and reignite the musical chemistry that made Pancho & Lefty a honky-tonk blockbuster and America's #1 Country Album following its release in January 1983. The success of Pancho & Lefty opened the doors for a number of successful follow-up projects including 1987's Seashores Of Old Mexico album, 2007's Last Of The Breed, with Ray Price.

Django & Jimmie premieres 14 brand-new studio recordings including: "Django & Jimmie," a duel tribute to jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt and Jimmie Rodgers, country music's mythic "Singing Brakeman"; "It's All Going To Pot," a rollicking anthem for the emerging 21st century cannabis culture; the reflective and meditative "Live This Long"; "Missing Ol' Johnny Cash," a homage to country music's original Man in Black featuring guest vocals from Bobby Bare; a sublime interpretation of Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright"; and the future country classic "Unfair Weather Friend,"

Among the 14 essential recordings on Django & Jimmie, Nelson and Haggard each pay musical tribute to the other through heartfelt solo performances: Willie singing Merle's "Somewhere Between" and Merle covering Willie's "Family Bible."

    Rough Guide To Jimmie Rodgers

Jimmie Rodgers was the 'Singing Brakeman', a Mississippi boy who used to work the railroads, done good. With his trademark yodel, he brought so-called hillbilly music into the mainstream. In a life as colourful as the songs he sang, the 'father of country music', rose from obscurity to create a new level of international stardom for American music before his tragic early death.

Root Down captures the king of the Hammond B3 organ, Jimmy Smith, playing down and dirty R&B. The album
includes two versions (one previously unissued) of Smith's Root Down, a song covered by the Beastie Boys in
1994. There is also a hypnotic reading of Al Green's pleading Let's Stay Together, which yet again proves that

    Midnight Special

Midnight Special is a perfect complement to Back at the Chicken Shack, which was recorded the same day. Organist Jimmy Smith, tenor saxophonist Stanley Turrentine, and guitarist Kenny Burrell always make for a potent team, and with drummer Donald Bailey completing the group, the quartet digs soulfully into such numbers as the groovin' Midnight Special, Jumpin' the Blues, and One O'Clock Jump. Highly recommended.

    Roots

Somehow this 1961 Reprise title seems to have escaped the audiophile must-have list. It's a true hidden classic and an incredibly warm recording. The small combo setting really allows these two heavyweights, Jimmy Witherspoon and Ben Webster ,to shine. The mood is laid-back and down-home. Accompanying musicians include trumpeter Gerald Wilson, pianist Ernie Freeman, bassist Ralph Hamilton and drummer Jim Miller. Roots was recorded at the often underrated or forgotten Radio Recorders in Hollywood, California. The studio, built in 1929, was one of the truly great - and great-sounding - studios of its day with an unbelievable discography of classics to its name.

Includes Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out and I'm Gonna move To the Outskirts of Town.

Jimmy Witherspoon made his first records with Jay McShann's band in 1945. Four years later, he would record under his own name with the McShann band and produced his first hit Ain't Nobody's Business.

    Static Prevails

With their third album Clarity being one of the most overlooked masterpieces of 1999, Static Prevails is Jimmy Eat World paying their dues in 1996. It could be the slight over-production (a curse that has always haunted the band), being on a major label for the first time, or them trying to get a feel for pulling fancy studio tricks (i.e., numerous backing vocals, cellos, and Moog additions). Maybe it's all three, but what Static Prevails essentially lacks is the songwriting maturity that Jimmy Eat World could have perfected; but it's almost as if the studio heads at Capitol wouldn't let them so that there would be more room for radio-friendly pop songs. In the end, nobody won. However, tracks such as Anderson Mesa, Call It in the Air, and Seventeen don't cross that line of boring alternative rock but remain in that aggressive pop status. Nothing close to classic, but definitely a sign of better things to come.

Released on July 18 2001, Bleed American is the fourth studio album by American alternative rock band Jimmy Eat World. The title track sets the tone for the album with its blistering guitar attack and aggressive vocals.
