Elliott Smith's self-titled sophomore album and Kill Rock Stars debut is pure, intimate, and graceful, finding the acclaimed and late singer-songwriter weaving folk magic from his soft voice and finger-picked guitar. Extraordinary melodies, amazing songwriting, and uncontested devotion make this a modern-day classic.

    Smith Westerns

Rummaging through 1970s glam, Phil Spector teen-pop, and Nuggets garage-punk with the youthful abandon of kids finding new toys in the attic, the Smith Westerns' self-titled debut exudes an earnestness almost as pure as its recording levels are deafening. Their simple, sweet choruses about boys and girls in love could spike the punch at a 1970s TV show school dance.

When singing guitarist Cullen Omori, his bassist brother Cameron, second guitarist Max Kakacek, and a drummer known as Hal have the tunes to make themselves heard over their vintage aesthetic, The Smith Westerns' teenage kicks are hard to beat. Take string-swept glam ballad Be My Girl. which softly punctuates one of the year's most wrenchingly innocent hooks with somewhat risque pick-up lines. There's less lyrical subtext, but no less raunchy production, on the glam-rock boogie of Girl in Love, a come-on cursorily addressing the fleetingness of youth. It's only fitting that the Smith Westerns both look and sound like the Black Lips' good-bad not-evil twins.

These guys are sort of literally true to their school, garage-rocker Miss Alex White is a fellow Northside College Prep magnet-school alum, and their time on the road with the likes of Jay Reatard and Nobunny is evident on fine 60s-style frat-rocker Gimme Some Time. With fuzzed-out xylophone, frenetic opener Dreams suggests the group's most recent tour with Girls and Los Campesinos! might serve them better for a follow-up. Diamond Boys almost earns its piano on the strength of its adolescent grandiosity, but We Stay Out lets lo-fi become the end rather than the means, with a guitar line that sounds like a bee buzzing underwater.

    Sing Elliott Smith

The title is about as self-explanatory as could be: 'Seth Avett & Jessica Lea
Mayfield sing Elliott Smith.' 12 songs originally written by the acclaimed and wellloved
Smith, performed by 2 artists, currently known for their contributions to the
indie folk rock landscape. The recordings are, in many cases, defined by bare
instrumentation, driven by a simple yet bold vocal delivery, the depth of feeling
    complimenting that of the subject matter. This album is an obvious labor of love;
a comment based on the genuine reverence which Avett and Mayfield clearly
hold for Smith. At times, the songs feel light as a feather, while in others, thematically
leaden with heartache, they are given a deep breath, a different dimension,
a new color. In modern fashion, melodies intensely whispered by Elliott Smith
are sung in a harmonious way, akin to the folk aesthetic of Gillian Welch and

    Meditations In B

Meditations in B. A simpler time. Like Pepperidge Farms, and Little House on the Prairie. Two beautiful young men (Aaron Turner and Santos Montano) set off on their own, in the peak of their sexual virility, to forge a new path in brutally sludgy, crushing, apocalyptic, post-metal, post-hardcore, pre-Y2K, post-math, pre-friendster, post-rock riffs. It was a magical time, before they added a few session players. Still regarded by some (mostly the guys who played on it) as Old Man Gloom's finest hour. Fun fact: Meditations in B was written in one afternoon, then recorded AND mixed in 12 hours! While many things in this text are only kinda true, that is absolutely true. They also had the privilege of recording it in their home town of Santa Fe, New Mexico at Stepbridge Studios. Within months of this, they used this monumental piece of music to convince Nate Newton (Converge) to join, and once they had him, it was a little easier to convince Caleb Scofield (Cave In) to join. It's kinda like the beginning of Bill and Ted, where the talk about getting Eddie Van Halen to join, but won't be good until he joins, but can't get good 'til he joins, to convince him to join. Get it? Fantastic.

One Offs... Remixes & B Sides

Reissue Of The Classic Remixes And B Sides Release

Remixes From Quantic, Jon Kennedy, Amon Tobin And Bonobo

Successfully beating the bootleggers at their own game, 'One Offs' offers Bonobo fans the chance to get their mitts on rare 12 and 7 cuts, as well as some truly exceptional remixes.

In between Bonobos critically-acclaimed debut, Animal Magic, and his first album for Ninja Tune, Dial M for Monkey, Tru Thoughts decided to release this compilation of hard-to-find tracks from his early 12s, 7s, and remixes (especially after they found bootlegs of the music appearing). The songs on this album capture many different moods and scenes, evoking wide swathes of differing emotions and musical styles (for example, check the Italian feel of The Sicilian originally released on Fly Casual, or the Arabian edge to the Monkey Man's reworking of Amon Tobin's Four Ton Mantis). All the while though, the album retains a recognizable musical signature of its own: this balance between broad-minded eclecticism and a well-defined style gives some indication as to why Bonobos music, as well as being critically lauded, has been licensed to over 50 compilation albums across the world, covering a variety of music scenes!

Liszt: Sonata in B Minor (Speakers Corner)

Modesty is a virtue, it is said. And that is precisely what DECCA must have had in mind when they entitled the present Liszt recording "A Recital". More fitting and in no way over-exaggerated would have been "Essential Liszt", for all the works on the present recording are true highlights.

The B minor Sonata is not only considered Liszt's most important piano composition but is moreover among the most magnificent and powerful piano works ever written. Clifford Curzon performs this work with amazing sovereignity, working his way through the work's rugged intricacies safely and surely, never missing even the tiniest motivic fragment.
After a short pause to draw one's breath, we move on to enjoy the famous Liebestraum with its passionate recurring theme. The spirited and vigorous Valse oubli√Če is followed by the dazzling Gnomenreigen taken at a pace which almost verges on folly. This virtuosic firework display is brought to a contemplative close with the lyrical Berceuse in a masterly performance full of inner peace and clarity.

This recording is perfect in every sense, both musically and technically, and is therefore recommended not only to confirmed lovers of Liszt but to those who are just beginning their love affair with him.

Recording: September 1963 at Sofiensaal, Vienna by Roy Wallace

    Production: Michael Brenner

    About Speakers Corner

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

A metallic rush of guitars and thundering drums, Deftones' music both epitomizes the hard-and-fast glory of post-grunge alt-metal and blows it wide open with innovation. As the Northern California-bred quintet evolved through a string of acclaimed albums and incessant, high-velocity touring, they also incorporated modern rock influences including The Cure and The Smiths into their Soundgarden/Tool/Rage Against the Machine/Pantera-inspired sonics. Now Maverick's new compilation sheds light on lesser-known output with covers, unreleased mixes, video B-Roll, and other choice rarities.

Dr.Dog's third studio album on Anti, BRoom, marks the band's greatest point of clarity in more than a decade of performing and recording. Their arrangements, while still ambitious, are much simpler, moving past the multitracked pastiche of earlier efforts into a unique and vibrant band voice. Indeed, it is this discovery of the bandcollective as a compositional tool that makes BRoom the most cohesive, soulful, loose, and plain fun record of their career.

The title of BRoom references the bands newly built studio, an integral part of making the new album; the band built the new studio themselves, from the studs to the sheet rock to the recording booth. As
Leaman now understands, making a record is a lot like doing construction. Both require a similar amount of frustration, intensity, and cohesion. By building the space first and releasing all of that emotion, the band was then free to engage in their creative process without the expectation or preconception that they admittedly had brought into
    other sessions.

Recording many of the album's tracks as live takes, Dr.Dog discovered the soul roots always inherent in their Philadelphia background. "The Truth",the Gamble and Huff inspired track that opens the album, is only the most obvious manifestation; on songs like "Minding the Usher" and "Love" the spontaneity of the band's live performances seamlessly fuses
with the intricacy of their kaleidoscopic composition. From the construction of the studio to the recording of the album that took place within its walls, the band has found that boundless moment of creativity where their spirit and soul coexist.

    The B-52s

Even in the weird, quirky world of new wave and post-punk in the late '70s, the B-52's' eponymous debut stood out as an original. Unabashed kitsch mavens at a time when their peers were either vulgar or stylish, the Athens quintet celebrated all the silliest aspects of pre-Beatles pop culture -- bad hairdos, sci-fi nightmares, dance crazes, pastels, and anything else that sprung into their minds -- to a skewed fusion of pop, surf, avant-garde, amateurish punk, and white funk. On paper, it sounds like a cerebral exercise, but it played like a party.

The jerky, angular funk was irresistibly danceable, winning over listeners dubious of Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson's high-pitched, shrill close harmonies and Fred Schneider's campy, flamboyant vocalizing, pitched halfway between singing and speaking. It's all great fun, but it wouldn't have resonated throughout the years if the group hadn't written such incredibly infectious, memorable tunes as Planet Claire, Dance This Mess Around, and, of course, their signature tune, Rock Lobster. These songs illustrated that the B-52's' adoration of camp culture wasn't simply affectation -- it was a world view capable of turning out brilliant pop singles and, in turn, influencing mainstream pop culture. It's difficult to imagine the endless kitschy retro fads of the '80s and '90s without the B-52's pointing the way, but The B-52's isn't simply an historic artifact -- it's a hell of a good time.

    B-Sides and Rarities

This compilation contains every song Beach House - aka Alex Scally and Victoria Legrand - has made that does not exist on one of their albums. The band explains:

When we announced that we were releasing a B-sides and rarities album, someone on Twitter asked, "B-sides record? Why would Beach House put out a B-sides record? Their A-sides are like B-sides." This random person has a point. Our goal has never been to make music that is explicitly commercial.Over the years, as we have worked on our 6 LPs, it wasn't the "best or most catchy songs that made the records, just the ones that fit together to make a cohesive work. Accordingly, our B-sides are not songs that we didn't like as much, just ones that didn't have a place on the records we were making.

The oldest song is "Rain in Numbers" and was recorded in 2005, during the summer when we formed the band. We didn't have a piano, so we asked our friend if we could use his, which was pretty out of tune. We used the mic that was on the four-track machine to record the piano and vocals. It was originally the secret song on our self-titled debut.

The next couple of songs are from late 2008. We were so excited about "Used to Be" that we quickly recorded it and put it on a 7" for our fall tour with the Baltimore Round Robin. The same session begat our cover of Queen's "Play the Game" for a charity compilation benefiting AIDS research; we will continue to donate all profits from the song to that charity. As fans of Queen, we thought it would be fun and ridiculous to try to adapt their high-powered pop song into our realm. These songs were recorded at the same studio where we made Devotion.

There are a bunch of songs written and recorded in the 2009-2010 window. "Baby" was written and recorded in October 2009 with our friend Jason Quever. "10 Mile Stereo"was recorded during the Teen Dream session in July 2009.Since we used tape, we often slowed the tape way down to create effects while recording, which led to "10 Mile Stereo(Cough Syrup Remix)."

"White Moon" and "The Arrangement" were both songs that we didn't believe fit on Teen Dream. "White Moon" originally appeared on our iTunes live session. Since that was recorded and mixed very hastily, we have remixed it to better match our current aesthetics. We have also remixed and included the version of "Norway we did at that same session. We wrote and recorded "I Do Not Care for the Winter Sun" during a break between tours and released it on the internet for free, unmastered. Well, it's finally been mastered

2 Chainz, born Tauheed Epps, released his first solo album, Based on a T.R.U. Story, in 2012. His debut produced such hits as No Lie and Birthday
    Song with Kanye West.

The album hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200, was certified gold and shot 2 Chainz into Hip-Hop Stardom.
After years spent recording as a part of hip-hop duo Playaz Circle, 2 Chainz has gained notoriety and seen major success in the last year. It's surprising
when people ask to take my picture at the airport, he told HuffPost Entertainment in the days leading up to his debut solo album's release. I'm surprised
every day when someone who doesn't really like that part of my genre but recognizes me as an artist. I get surprised all day, every day, to tell you the
    truth.

2 Chainz broke the news of the album's release in the middle of a weekend performance for Atlanta's Hot 107.9's Birthday Bash show. 2 Chainz then took
to Twitter to announce the album.

In a recent interview with MTV, the rapper compared his music to a vacation, which is reflected in the title.

Me Time has multiple meanings. I feel like my music actually gives people a sense of going away sometimes - without really going on vacation, he
explained.I feel like when people listen to me, they feel like they're goin' somewhere, taking time off; they're relaxing, lettin' their hair down.
Chainz revealed that he actually recorded his new album with the intention of giving listeners a personalized experience. Every time somebody wants to
have some 'me time' or whatever, this is the type of vibe, this is the type of project [to listen to]. I'm putting together different sounds to make people be
like, 'This is about me. Me and my people, this is our time.' he said.

On Feds Watching, the lead single with Pharrell, Tity Boi expressed that the single was a much-needed experiment. It just felt like it was something
different, it felt like it was something that needed to happen, he said confidently. For me it was about of course staying comfortable but trying new stuff,
and that's what I did rocking with Pharrell.
