Johnny Cash was born during the great depression into a poor family in Arkansas. At a very young age, he worked on the family farm and experienced many of life's struggles. This is also the time he would develop his love for music, family and the Bible, which followed him closely throughout his long career.

In the early fifties after spending time in the Air Force, he moved to Memphis, became friends with folks like Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis, and ultimately cut some sides at Sun Studios which became the catalyst that would kick-start the beginnings of a soon to be worldwide superstar, troubadour and humanitarian unlike the world has ever known.

The folks at Columbia Records knew that this young fellow named Johnny Cash was destined for super stardom. They quickly signed the legend to a long-term deal, and his first singles like his Guess Things Happen That Way & Hey Porter etched The Man In Black trademark to his name.

In 1971 after many chart-topping country and pop albums and a bevy of hit singles and Grammy Awards, more fame followed as the brass at Columbia Records honored their journeyman Johnny Cash with his 2nd greatest hits collection, the gold and platinum smash Johnny Cash's Greatest Hits Volume II.

The album was a blockbuster as it hit the Top 5 in the charts, making this a crossover hit with both country and pop audiences, proving once again that his career was of historic merit. Filled with more hits than a roadside jukebox, the amazing album features his biggest hits like the groundbreaking Folsom Prison Blues and his Shel Silverstein classic A Boy Named Sue. The classic top charter duet with June Carter Cash If I Were A Carpenter is also included, followed up by one of his finest interpretations of his dear friend Kris Kristofferson's Sunday Mornin' Comin'Down.

More treasures follow with the country belter Big River and Cash's gospel smash of Daddy Sang Bass, which truly continues the treasure trove of hits contained in this masterwork.

In total, the album showcases eleven important Johnny Cash recordings which have truly gone on to become international classics for all time.

    The River & The Thread

I went back to where I was born, and these songs started arriving in me, says Rosanne Cash. All these things happened that made me feel a deeper connection to the South than I ever had. We started finding these great stories, and the melodies that went with those experiences.

With The River and the Thread, Cash has added the next chapter to a remarkable period of creativity. Her last two albums, Black Cadillac (2006) and The List (2009), were both nominated for Grammy Awards; The List-an exploration of essential songs as selected and given to Rosanne by her father, Johnny Cash-was also named Album of the Year by the Americana Music Association. In addition, her best-selling 2010 memoir, Composed, was described by the Chicago Tribune as one of the best accounts of an American life you will likely ever read.
Cash, who has charted 21 Top 40 country singles, including 11 Number Ones, wrote all of the new album's songs with her longtime collaborator (and husband) John Leventhal, who also served as producer, arranger, and guitarist. Featuring a long list of guests-from young guns like John Paul White (The Civil Wars) and Derek Trucks to such legends as John Prine and Tony Joe White-The River and the Thread is a kaleidoscopic examination of the geographic, emotional, and historic landscape of the American South. The album's unique sound, which draws from country, blues, gospel, and rock, reflects the soulful mix of music that traces its history to the region.

Rosanne Cash acknowledges that, even with fifteen albums and four books behind her, it was difficult to start writing songs again after spending several years immersed in the masterful compositions featured on The List. You cannot keep that in your mind, except as an inspiration, a standard to aspire to, she says. To say, 'I'm going to write a song as great as Take These Chains'-you're not! So the only way to not get dismantled by that is to stay connected to your own muse, and immerse yourself completely in what you're doing so it can be as rich and authentic as it can possibly be. That's all you can hope for.

With The River and the Thread, she has risen to that challenge-and emerged with a beautiful and haunting album, one of the finest works in an extraordinary career.

    The Ventures Christmas Album

As rocks biggest-selling and most influential instrumental combo, the Ventures are one of Americas most iconic bands. Long before anyone had heard of the Beatles, the Ventures influenced kids around the world to invest in electric guitars. The quartet delivered a sleek, instantly recognizable sound whose influence spread as far as Japan, where they remain bigger-than-life superstars. Having recently celebrated the groups 50th anniversary as well as their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Ventures continue to exercise a massive influence on nearly every instrumental guitar band that followed them.

The Ventures were also one of the first rock acts to conquer the album market, selling large quantities of their LPs at a time when rock n roll was still largely a singles medium. One of the bands best-loved longplayers is The Ventures Christmas Album. Originally released in 1965, it finds the foursomefeaturing the legendary guitar-slinging frontline of Bob Bogle, Nokie Edwards and Don Wilsonapplying their trademark style to a dozen familiar yuletide tunes, including Sleigh Ride, Santa Claus Is Comin to Town, Jingle Bells and White Christmas. The Ventures soup up these seasonal standards by adding snazzy guitar phrases that quote then-current rock n roll hits by the likes of the Beatles, the Searchers and Johnny Rivers, as well as a few older Ventures classics.

In the years since its release, The Ventures Christmas Album has remained a holiday favorite, as well as one of the most popular items in the bands catalog. Tracks from the album continue to grace the radio airwaves during the holiday season, and are regularly included on Christmas-themed compilation albums. But the best way to experience these instrumental gems is on the complete original vinyl LP. Sundazed Music has mastered this vintage gem from the original analog tapes and pressed it on 180 gram vinyl, with complete original cover art.

    Original Sun Singles '55-'58

To hear Johnny Cashs swaggering Sun Records-era material is to marvel at one of the primal source-streams of what was fast becoming the headwaters of rock n roll. Cashs craggy, lunch-bucket vocals on gleaming original versions of songs like Cry! Cry! Cry!, Get Rhythm, Big River, and I Walk the Line, backed by the signature guitar style of Luther Perkins and Marshall Grants steady bass, are really just the tip of the iceberg corralled on this stunning collection. Folsom Prison Blues, Hey Porter, and So Doggone Lonesomeand plenty more just as exciting offer still more rock-solid cornerstones of the Johnny Cash legend, an edifice that will stand as long as the pharaohs pyramids.

    The Fall

For this record, I just had a sound in my head, says Norah Jones. I wanted the grooves to be more present and heavy. And I also just wanted to do something different. Ive been hanging with the same group of musicians for a long time, and I thought it was a good time for me to work with different people and experiment a little.

The result of these experiments is the multiple Grammy Award-winners new album, The Fall. The album is an exciting evolution from her previous three releases, which have sold a combined 36 million copies worldwide. The first obvious change on The Fall is a lengthy list of new collaborators. Producer Jacquire King, who has worked with Kings of Leon, Modest Mouse, and Tom Waits, among others, helped Jones put together a group of musicians, including drummers Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M.) and James Gadson (Bill Withers), keyboardist James Poyser (Erykah Badu, Al Green), and guitarists Marc Ribot (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello) and Smokey Hormel (Johnny Cash, Joe Strummer). Jones also joined forces with several notable songwriters on The Fall, including Ryan Adams and Okkervil Rivers Will Sheff, as well as her frequent collaborator Jesse Harris.

Depending on whom you ask, Jack 'Oblivian' Yarber is either a rock legend or an obsolute unknown. And no one knows this dichotomy better than Yarber, who may be Memphis' most infuential active rock musician.

The list of noteworthy bands Yarber has been a member of over the years is massive and includes Johnny Vomit & the Dry Heaves, new-wavers the End, '68 Comeback, Knaughty Knights, and Tav Falco's Panther Burns. Two of Yarber's former bands, the Compulsive Gamblers and the Oblivians, have seen their reputation and following swell in the decade since their demise, especially the Oblivians, whose international fan base borders on rabid. Due largely to his stint in these bands, both partnerships with Greg Cartwrigth, now of Reigning Sound, Yarber has been an acknowledged influence on artists such as the White Stripes, the Hives, and Jay Reatard.

In the years since, Yarber has toured and released a string of successful solo albums under the Jack O & the Tennessee Tearjerkers moniker. Originally conceived in 2000 as a partnership with former Impala and current Bo-Keys bassist Scott Bomar, the band quickly morphed into Yarber's solo incarnation after Bomar became occupied with film scoring and production work. The band has had a revolving door for side players ever since, at different times including current River City Tanlines John Bonds and Terrence Bishop, Neighborhood Texture Jam guitarist John Wittmore, the Reigning Sound's Greg Roberson, Bluff City Backslider Adam Woodard, and a host of other recognizable local musicians.

Depending on whom you ask, Jack 'Oblivian' Yarber is either a rock legend or an absolute unknown. Riverman's Daughter

The Grahams, the creative union of lifelong romantic partners Alyssa and Doug Graham, combine soulful bluegrass with hints of earthy Americana, adding colors from traditional folk and country blues, into an infectious blend of storytelling that results in songs of love, loss, yearning, and the view from rural American roads less traveled.

While the duo first met in grade school -- a trait shared by previous musical trail-blazers, from Lennon/McCartney to Jagger/Richards - the Grahams' journey together began when they were teenagers in the shadow of New York City. There, Alyssa, the impassioned troubadour, and Doug, the guitarist extraordinaire, shared a mutual love for the music of the Woodstock era and the adventures of the great outdoors. Over the ensuing years many a campfire lit acoustic jam would include the best of roots renegades like Neil Young, The Band, Gram Parsons, Janis and Emmylou along with more than a few Jerry Garcia and Johnny Cash nuggets. Later, spending much of their time in the secluded Adirondack Mountains at the Graham family fold, Alyssa and Doug learned the time-honored craft of songwriting. Here, their ongoing interests in traditional country, mountain bluegrass and folk legends such as The Carter Family and Mississippi John Hurt would blossom. Hoping to share their stories on a wider stage, the couple eventually settled in New York City, where they performed, collaborated and recorded a variety of acclaimed material before adopting The Grahams moniker.

While the duo had written music together before, in the summer of 2012 new writing sessions yielded a different approach. Something magical was happening between Alyssa and Doug. A catalyst was born in the new song Riverman's Daughter, a tale of love, loss, and hardship on the river that showcases Alyssa's bountiful voice. Backed by her own rhythm guitar, along with the strong current of Doug's cascading accompaniment on the six string, and traditional vocal harmonies, the track came in a lightning bolt of inspiration. A vision and calling to write more songs of its kind took hold.

Alyssa and Doug had an idea: What if they put their city lives on hold and, armed with just guitars and backpacks, traveled the 2,500 miles of highways and byways of the Mississippi River from Minnesota to Louisiana. Light out for the territory, so to speak, like Huck and Jim. There, the duo could follow the Great River Road (GRR) that parallels the waterway, meet the people, and hear first-hand where European folk music, brought to these shores generations ago, took root alongside rhythms and chants from Africa, and how these polarizing sounds formed the backbone of our 20th Century American musical heritage. And so The Grahams did just that, and in the process created their debut album, Riverman's Daughter. Along the way The Grahams played gigs at the various gin and juke joints that dotted the GRR, and met a colorful cast of characters and genuine music makers with whom the duo shared and exchanged stories through the common bond of song.

Eventually Alyssa and Doug ended up intentionally isolated on an old houseboat in rural Louisiana where the Mississippi spills into the Atchafalaya swamp. There, The Grahams prolifically stockpiled songs, enjoyed the simplicity of living off the grid, and for a spell, invited onboard friends and musicians including their longtime collaborator Bryan McCann, a wordsmith who aids with lyrical inspiration. Yet perhaps the biggest inspiration on Riverman's Daughter was Doug's own mother, Gigi, the matriarch of the Graham family clan, and a true fan of the duo who had been diagnosed with cancer earlier that year. As her condition worsened, the Grahams packed up their guitars and newly minted collection of songs to become Gigi's angel band, and played by her side until she passed away.

As recording of the new album began, The Grahams found a true kindred spirit in Grammy-winning producer Malcolm Burn, who brought a magical touch and inspired ideas into the studio. It was Burn's idea to record both Alyssa and Doug's parts live to tape without the assistance of headphones or isolation -- in the way they were written. This process gives the album a natural aura that harkens back to an era when this practice was commonplace. Along the same lines, The Grahams chose to record the album in Nashville, the longtime epicenter of country music. While the album's foundation is simple and acoustic, The Grahams are backed on a few tracks by stellar accompaniment including the Grammy-nominated North Mississippi Allstars. Along with the title song the album is highlighted by the 70's country rock flavored Carrying The Torch, the spirited traditional vibe of The Piney River, and the riveting upbeat barn dance playfulness of Revival Time.

Ultimately, the album is a winning culmination of The Grahams' long journey into the heart of America, the inspiration they derived from immersion into classic American music, and the natural and honest talent they have for bringing forth a modern musical idiom steeped in tradition.

    Dark Night Of The Soul

This musical DNA has been in Jimbo Mathus since birth. His father and relatives
were all skilled musicians who filled the house with old folk, country and blues
tunes. By the age of eight, Mathus was joining them on mandolin and by his
teenage years had learned guitar and piano. High school led to playing in punk
and new wave bands, the most notable being Johnny Vomit and the Dry Heaves
and The End, with future Oblivian Jack Yarber. Post high school, Mathus studied
Philosophy at Mississippi State University before leaving to travel around
America. In doing so he worked various jobs, including an influential stint as
a barge tankerman on the mighty Mississippi River. Settling in Chapel Hill,
N.C., he drummed in the cult rock band Metal Flake Mother prior to starting
the Squirrel Nut Zippers. This ahead-of-its-time retro roots band scored a hit
with "Hot" and performed at President Clinton's second Inauguration and the
1996 Summer Olympics. Following the Zippers' split, Mathus worked with such
noted artists such as Buddy Guy and Elvis Costello, and collaborated with North
Mississippi Allstars guitarist Luther Dickinson and Alvin Youngblood Hart in the
South Memphis String Band. He also recorded his own albums (including one
dedicated to his childhood nanny Rosetta Patton, the daughter of Delta blues
    icon Charley Patton).

On most of 'Dark Night's' tracks, Mathus' acoustic guitar is surrounded by
the electric guitar played by his longtime sideman Matt Pierce and pal Eric
"Roscoe" Ambel. (Ambel produced 'White Buffalo' but on 'Dark Night' he focuses
exclusively on his righteous guitar playing.) The album's raw, rock sound arose
from the fact that most of the tracks were recorded live in the studio with
Mathus' band, the Tri-State Coalition, which he found "very liberating way of
doing it." Mathus feels very in synch with his bandmates (keyboardist Eric
Carlton, drummer Ryan Rogers, guitarist Pierce and guest bassist and Drive By
Trucker Matt Patton) since they have played together now for several years.
"The intensity you're hearing on this album," he proclaims, "is the spirit of a
band that is put ting it's shit on the line ."

    The Fall

Mastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearant Audio from the original source recordings!

200-gram audiophile vinyl pressing by Quality Record Pressings. Gatefold, tip-on jackets on heavy cardboard stock, deluxe high quality!

Part of Analogue Productions' reissue of the Norah Jones' solo catalog, featuring the individual albums Come Away With Me, Feels Like Home, Not Too Late, The Fall and Little Broken Hearts. Each album will also be featured in an exclusive LP box set to come that will include Norah's Covers album!

Norah has taken a new direction on The Fall, experimenting with different sounds and a new set of collaborators, including Jacquire King, a noted producer and engineer who has worked with Kings of Leon, Tom Waits and Modest Mouse. Richly detailed and vocally lush on 200-gram, super-silent vinyl from Analogue Productions, The Fall, Jones' fourth album, may surprise some of Jones' die-hard fans, Billboard magazine notes. During the 13-song set, Jones ditches the gentle piano playing of her previous work and tears into fresh, beat-savvy arrangements, playing plenty of electric guitar and exploring the piercing quality of Wurlitzer electric piano. Jones' smoky voice and soulful veneer highlight the opening track and first single, Chasing Pirates.

Jones displays a slinky kind of ambience on Light As a Feather (co-written with Ryan Adams). The social commentary It's Gonna Be offers a garage-rock attitude, and You've Ruined Me has a rich Americana flavor. But Jones is still a little bit country (Tell Yer Mama) and a little bit rock'n'roll (Stuck). Overall, writes reviewer Gary Graff, Jones straddles those lines in an entirely different manner than she ever has before.

For The Fall, Jones enlisted several songwriting collaborators, including Ryan Adams and Okkervil River's Will Sheff, as well as her frequent partners Jesse Harris and Richard Julian. Musicians include drummers Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M.) and James Gadson (Bill Withers), keyboardist James Poyser (Erykah Badu, Al Green) and guitarists Marc Ribot (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello) and Smokey Hormel (Johnny Cash, Joe Strummer).

Doxy present a picture disc reissue of Henry Mancini's soundtrack for Breakfast at Tiffany's, originally released in 1961. In a career spanning over four decades, composer, conductor and arranger Enrico Henry Mancini (1924-1994) won numerous Academy and Grammy awards for his scores to well-known films and television series, including The Pink Panther, Hatari! (1962), Two For The Road (1967), Wait Until Dark (1967), Peter Gunn (1967), and of course, 1961's Breakfast at Tiffany's (which alone won five Grammys and two Oscars). The Breakfast at Tiffany's soundtrack is probably best remembered for Audrey Hepburn's legendary performance of Mancini's Moon River (lyrics by Johnny Mercer), which won an Academy Award for Best Song that year. Moon River went on to become one of the best loved songs of all time, but it first made its appearance here, in Breakfast at Tiffany's. Edition of 500.
