The Collected album by the Carpenters brings a beautiful collection from the immense popular soft-pop duo. From their humble beginnings in the late '60s until today, siblings Karen and Richard Carpenter are one of the most successful duos in musical history. With Karen's absolutely perfect vocal delivery and Richard's creative arrangements, they are unstoppable.

This 2LP set inside a gatefold sleeve brings together their hits, album tracks and more. It delivers the best selection of easy listening songs in a nutshell. Glorious pop nuggets by the Carpenters will melt the heart and uplift the soul, including Close to You, Ticket to Ride, We've Only Just Begun, Superstar, Rainy Days And Mondays, Bless the Beasts And the Children, Hurting Each Other and many more.

An Easter egg is the track Karen's Theme by Richard Carpenter, who dedicated this song to Karen after her tragical death in 1983.

Producing a distinctively soft musical style, they became one of the best-selling music artists of all time. During their 14-year career, the Carpenters recorded 11 albums, 31 singles, five television specials, and a short-lived television series.

The Carpenters had three No. 1 singles and five No. 2 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and fifteen No. 1 hits on the Adult Contemporary chart. In addition, they had twelve top 10 singles. To date, the Carpenters' album and single sales total more than 100 million units.

    Now & Then

Now & Then is the fifth album from the Carpenters, released in 1973. The title for the album was suggested by
Richard and Karen's mother. The album featured a three-panel cover that folded out, showing a panoramic view of
Karen and Richard Carpenter driving past the Carpenter family home in Downey, California. The car pictured on the
cover was a 1973 Ferrari owned by Richard.

    What A Beautiful Place

Since arriving on London racks in the summer of 1970, Catherine HoweÆs debut album has been unavailable in its original format. Less than 20 LP copies survived Reflection RecordsÆ demise, and the album sat in the can until NumeroÆs 2007 CD issue. Produced by the legendary jazz pianist Bobby Scott, this orchestral-folk master stroke has once again been set to lacquer, remastered and restored directly from the original master tapes specifically for this deluxe vinyl release. Gatefold package includes replica LP art and complete annotation on the sessions and history of this forgotten Brit-folk treasure.

ôItÆs like some missing link between Sandy Denny and Karen Carpenter, or between Ladies of the Canyon and Dusty in Memphis . If you buy no other reissue this year, buy this.ö - Barney Hoskyns, Guardian UK

    Goodbye To Love

    Pressed On Translucent Gold Vinyl

A sultry and sophisticated songbird. The ultra-rare debut and sole output of a wondrous and mysterious vocalist, perfectly accompanied by guitar icon Barney Kessel. An Early Stereo marvel from the original 1959 tapes!

Kessel was a jazz pioneer -- as one of the leading lights of the hard-bop movement, his jazz guitar was legendary, and he was ranked the No. 1 guitarist in Down Beat and Playboy for numerous years. He played with Sonny Rollins and Oscar Peterson and Ella Fitzgerald as well as leading his own super-tight group. On albums such as The Poll Winners, Kessel defined the bop style with a jazz power trio, creating a body of work that made him a legend.

Not much is known of Thompson -- even though the record's a long-time crate digger classic, she remains a mystery. But her stunning voice will knock you out -- sounding like the precedent of singers like Karen Carpenter, her no-nonsense, emotion-soaked singing carries marvelously a collection of standards including Stormy Weather and Body And Soul. Kessel's remarkable playing provides a sparkling backing for her vocals. The album has been pressed onto gold vinyl and wrapped in a restored sleeve that captures the beauty of the era.

Claudia Thompson has a perfectly tuned, and wildly dramatic voice. Picture a female Chet Baker; you'll have to hear it to believe it.

    Ticket To Ride

Ticket to Ride is the Carpenters' most interesting album, for it contains a range of interests and sounds that were modified or abandoned on subsequent albums. The lushly orchestrated 'Someday' is a brilliant showcase for Richard's arranging skills and the most dramatic side of Karen's voice.

    Lovelines

Lovelines commemorated the duo's 20-year association with A&M Records, though Karen had passed away six
years before. Ten of the 12 tracks were recorded for other albums but were not included for various reasons; two
are remixes of previously released material. Richard penned the liner notes, which give some insight into the history
    of the pieces.
