    Cancer For Cure

Independent rap icon El-P is set to release his long awaited new solo album Cancer For Cure, at his new home Fat Possum. The new album marks his first full length rap album since 2007's critically acclaimed I'll Sleep When You're Dead, though El-P's rap trajectory has been on a steady ascent following a prolific year that saw high profile appearances on Das Racist's mixtape and debut album, a hugely buzzed Adult Swim single "Drones Over Bklyn," a verse (which made Stereogum's top 10 guest verses of the year) on one of the year's biggest online hits, Mr. Muthafuckin' Exquire's "Huzzah," among several other honors.

The record is arriving hot on the heels of the new Killer Mike album R.A.P. Music, which El-P produced in full and is already making huge noise with its first single "Big Beast (featuring Bun B, T.I. and Trouble)," which was awarded Pitchfork's rare 'Best New Track' designation.Cancer For Cure takes another huge leap forward from the production work of his 2010 instrumental album Weareallgoingtoburninhellmeggamixxx with a bombastic collision of synths, bottomless bass tones, live instrumentation, ear-worming melody, and tightly coiled drum patterns, setting the standard for hip hop production higher than ever.

The obvious diversion from the previous album is the presence of El-P's ever-developing vocal style, continuing to raise the bar on his already highly verbose flow that swiftly and muscularly navigates a rapidfire explosion of syllabic conundrums and quick-witted elocutions full of heart, purpose, style and grit. Rounded out by feature appearances by a host of high profile guests including Killer Mike, Danny Brown, Mr. Muthafuckin' Exquire, Paul Banks (Interpol), and more, this will easily be one of the year's most talked about albums.

    Pain Killer

Capitol Records Nashville, GRAMMY Award-winning group Little Big Town release their sixth studio album, Pain Killer. The album, produced by Jay Joyce, features current single Day Drinking, the bands highest chart debut to date, and was written by LBT s Karen Fairchild, Jimi Westbrook, Phillip Sweet and songwriters Troy Verges and Barry Dean. The foursome co-wrote eight of the 13 tracks on the album.

Sometimes you don't know what's going to happen in the studio. You just have to dive in head first and work hard to do something unique, said Fairchild. We're always striving and pushing ourselves to go somewhere new. Pain Killer is a new place for sure.

Individually, they are four of the best singers in the world, said Mike Dungan, Chairman/CEO of Universal Music Group Nashville. Together, they are awe-inspiring. As a band, they are forever focused on taking it to the next level. The result is Pain Killer...simply the best one yet.

Little Big Town, who have been together for 15 years, release Pain Killer on the heels of their highly successful, platinum-selling album Tornado almost exactly two years later. Tornado was one of only 10 country albums to achieve platinum certification in 2013 and features back-to-back #1 hit singles Pontoon and Tornado. The 2x platinum-selling Pontoon took home the GRAMMY Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance and the CMA Award for Single of the Year.

St. Louis beat maker Andrew Jernigan a.k.a Phaseone gained
quite a following after his early remixes and mixtapes began
creating buzz around the internet in 2009. These releases
included noteworthy cuts of Animal Collective, Panda Bear,
and Burial. That same year Phaseone released his debut LP
"Thanks But No Thanks" as a free download showing that he's
not too shabby at creating his own tracks as well. Jernigan
recently relocated to Brooklyn, NY to work on his forthcoming
LP "If I Tell U" due out spring 2013 on Adult Swim's Williams
Street label (home to Killer Mike's critically acclaimed R.A.P.
Music LP and Metalocalypse's Dethklok). With this new
release Phaseone further expands the boundaries between
producer and artist creating a swirling universe and unique
aesthetic that is distinctly his own.

    Run The Jewels

    Gold Yellow Colored Vinyl

This gold vinyl re-issue of Run the Jewels's 2013 self-titled classic was named Pitchfork's "Best New Music" upon release. Killer Mike's baritone drawl contrasts El-P's hyper flow perfectly, and with support from names like Big Boi, Until the Ribbon Breaks, and Prince Paul, this hip-hop album delivers. Tracks feature Banana Clipper, Job Well Done, and Twin Hype Back.

Metacritic gives this album universal acclaim, and critics agree: it's accessible with its duo taking on crooked politicians, fake rappers and religious hypocrites through aggressive flow and paranoid rhyme, and its fun, affable vibe is no sign of weakness.

For the true collector of album kitsch, this release includes a new iron-on Run the Jewels patch.

    Return Of The Cool

Buzzing Walterboro, SC rapper Nick Grant will unveil his full-length debut project, Return of The Cool. The album boasts 12 new tracks, including the latest single "Luxury Vintage Rap," "Get Up" (feat. WatchTheDuck), "The Sing Along" (feat. Rico Barrino), and more.

Offering a glimpse at the MC's fiery and fresh style, "Luxury Vintage Rap" highlights his wise and wicked wordplay over nineties-style production. With a bulletproof cadence, he serves up slick, sizzling, and scorching bars such as, "I'm cut from Biggie's Gucci sweater cloth."

Growing up in the tiny town of Walterboro, SC, Nick Grant found a window to a much bigger world through hip-hop as a kid. He obsessed over classics by Jay-Z, 2Pac, Nas, OutKast, and A Tribe Called Quest, while writing countless rhymes of his own. In 2014, he inked a deal with Culture Republic-run by music industry veterans Jason Geter, Chaka Zulu and Bernard Parks, Jr. February 2016 saw him unleash his '88 mixtape featuring collaborations with the likes of Killer Mike and Big K.R.I.T. Soon, he was garnering praise from Vibe, XXL, HipHopDX, Pigeons and Planes, and more in addition to lighting up the 2016 BET Hip-Hop Awards Cypher as well as Funk Master Flex's Hot 97 radio show and Sway in the Morning. In 2017, Grant harks back to rap's revolutionary era over two decades ago, while bringing a decidedly modern heat of his own. With an impressive production line-up that includes Organized Noize Productions, Karriem Riggins, and DJ Khalil. Get ready for the Return of the Cool.

    Ritualize (Awaiting Repress)

    ...attitude-thick rapping...with gorgeous
    production...
    - The New York Times

    "Lushlife is an under-the-radar treasure"
    - Stereogum

From the moment you hear the bristling boom-bap chorus on album-opener
Totally Mutual Feeling, it's apparent that Lushlife's third full-length finds the
Philadelphia rapper-producer at his most introspective. Themes of isolation and
mortality permeate Ritualize, a cinematic hour-long odyssey co-produced by
enigmatic production trio, CSLSX (pronounced Casual Sex) and featuring
contributions from Ariel Pink, Killer Mike, Freeway, Marissa Nadler, RJD2, and
more. With CSLSX at the boards, an entire universe opens up for Lush, where
the pulsating Juno synths of '80s LA night music sit side-by-side with
gorgeously propulsive indie-leaning jams, and low-fi soul burners too. The
resulting LP is a post-blog-era joint that seems to exhale the whole of the 20th
century in a single, fascinating breath.

After toiling over two self-produced LPs in the last half-decade, I felt
compelled to bring on an outside production team for Ritualize, Lushlife
(born Raj Haldar) explains. Not only did I want to broaden the musical
palette, but I felt like the group production effort would give me a depth of
focus on lyrical content and emotion that I hadn't previously been afforded.
After a chance encounter with CSLSX, who had been quietly self-releasing
low-fi dance gems to remarkable organic blog buzz, the newly-formed team
set out on a three-year journey that would eventually yield their new joint
album. By the time work began on Ritualize, Lush had already been riding a
small wave of critical acclaim for his 2012 full-length, Plateau Vision, an album
that made several year-end lists and was described by the Sunday New York
Times as a melding of captivating rhymes with audacious, gorgeous production.
Still, with Ritualize, Lushlife and CSLSX seem to have gone one deeper.

From album cut, The Waking World, which finds Lushlife spitting thorough
sixteens from the vantage of Mark David Chapman lying in wait for John
Lennon, to Incantation, a song that's as much inspired by Allen Ginsberg's
Howl as the general, street-level anxieties of urban life, Ritualize is nothing short
of a step forward. For proof, look no further than Toynbee Suite, a 10-minute,
4-movement rap epic that explores the strange Toynbee Tile meta-art
conspiracy that has captivated Philadelphians for decades. As the centerpiece
of the album, Toynbee Suite was the subject of a 2013 documentary, and
itself represents the combined work of 20+ musicians, including RJD2, Nightlands,
Yikes the Zero, and a full chamber orchestra. On the other hand, the
CSLSX-produced, Hong Kong (Lady of Love), a collaboration with weird
music godhead, Ariel Pink, is a sparse yet powerful four-on-the-floor ode to LA,
inspired by the film soundtrack work of Giorgio Moroder, Vangelis, and others.

200-Gram Vinyl Plated By Gary Salstrom And Pressed At Quality Record Pressings, The World's Finest Lp Maker!

Self-Titled Album Made Nugent And His Gonzo Guitar A Rock Icon!

There was a moment, in 1975 to be exact, when Ted Nugent was taken very seriously. As a musician. Before he decided to become whatever it is that he is now. ... Let's think back to 1975 when Ted was just a sex-crazed rock star who made a killer self-titled debut solo record that has now been remastered and reissued as a gatefold, by Chad Kassem's Analogue Productions and Quality Record Pressings. While his songwriting interests have never really changed, these were the best takes on all those ideas that Nugent would from this point on build his career on. ... on Ted Nugent his guitar riffs were never sharper, his playing never less indulgent. This is a record where even the inner cuts like 'Just What the Doctor Ordered' and 'Queen of the Forest' were good to great. - Robert Baird, Stereophile, May 2014

We were fortunate with this one. Fortunate you say? How so? Well for starters, the late and lauded mastering engineer George Marino at Sterling Sound mastered and cut the original 1975 release of Ted Nugent. Almost 40 years later, after some digging by George's protege, Ryan Smith, on behalf of this Analogue Productions reissue - lo and behold - George's mastering notes resurfaced as well as the original analog tape masters.

With the release of Ted Nugent, the self-proclaimed Motor City Madman and god of gonzo guitar became not just a star, but one of rock 'n' roll's icons. The songs Motor City Madhouse and Just What The Doctor Ordered would become two of many of Ted's road anthems. These and the other 10 monster tracks on Ted Nugent were clear evidence that Ted was an artist to be reckoned with.

Ted Nugent still likes to reflect back on what his critics were saying as he put his band, the Amboy Dukes, to rest and started the next phase of his career-one that would be under his own vision, his own direction and most importantly, his own name.

I remember some of the more creative writers of the ilk claimed it would be 'the final nail in my coffin' - quote, unquote, Nugent says with a redemptive laugh. I knew better.

The mention of Ted's name elicits different reactions from rock fans today in different parts of the country. Nods of familiarity on both coasts, and clenched fists and knowing grins in the vast Midwest and South. He's sold millions of albums. Rock radio couldn't play enough of him - and neither could promoters, who made him the hardest-working and top-grossing gunslinger of the mid- and late-'70s. While most other rockers posed with their sleek Stratocasters and Les Pauls, there was Nugent, whipping his mane of hair around his head as he cranked out sound on his big Gibson Birdland, a hog of a guitar with rich, thick and creamy tones - clearly not something to be trusted to amateurs. But in Nugent's hands it screamed, squealed and cried, providing a vivid 3-D voice for the monster crunch of Stranglehold, the menacing stomp of Stormtroopin and the fiery boogie of Hey Baby, Motor City Madhouse and Snakeskin Cowboys.

We feel this is Ted's finest recording by far. And here, you'll hear this classic more clearly and vividly than ever before. This reissue was remastered by Smith in the late George Marino's mixing room at Sterling Sound using Marino's VMS 80 lathe and an ATR 102 tape machine modified by Mike Spitz-the only one of its kind in the world.. Then this 200-gram vinyl beauty was pressed by Quality Record Pressings, makers of the world's finest LPs, where it was plated for vinyl by Gary Salstrom, QRP's master plating technician and general manager. The power burned into these grooves is difficult to find anywhere else this side of the Atlantic, and indeed it remains a rare commodity anywhere in the world.

As Ted himself proclaims: If anyone wanted to know what rock 'n' roll was all about, this is the only album they'll need.

    Olympia

Olympia is an album of transformation. Though it has only been two years since Austra's 2010 debut
Feel It Break, it presents a quantum evolution in the Toronto-based band's sound, structure and style.

After three years of non-stop international touring with the likes of The xx, Grimes and the Gossip,
when it came time to record Olympia, Austra had evolved into a complex collaborative effort between
its six members. "Previously, I would flesh out songs before I brought them to the band, but this time
I left them bare and let the others fill them in" explains Katie Stelmanis, the principal songwriter/vocalist.

Olympia is also the first confessional record for Stelmanis as evidenced by the heartfelt lyrics of piano
driven lead single "Home." The album touches on a range of sentiments that stem from a relationship
ending, a relationship beginning, and friends' struggles with addiction and motivation. Despite the
sometimes dark lyrics written in collaboration with band member Sari Lightman, Olympia is bubbly
and buoyant- fundamentally a dance record, which Stelmanis says was the band's aim all along. "We
are really into dense harmonies and big beautiful melodies, but I also love techno and dance music. I
wanted to bring those elements together."

Though Olympia is filled with electronic and synthetic sounds that reference everything from Trax
Record classic cuts to Yazoo's Upstairs At Eric's, it's free of programming and loops. Everything was
played live by the band in the studio and all of the percussion including a wild set up of marimbas and
congas performed by drummer Maya Postepski. "There is a major percussive element running through
every song," Stelmanis laughs, "this is the album where we discovered rhythm."

The album was produced by Austra with additional production by Mike Haliechuk (Fucked Up)

Vocal production by Damian Taylor (Bjork, the Killers)

Engineered by Leon Taheny and Bill Skibbe (the Kills, Wild Belle,
    Dead Weather)

Mixed by Tom Elmhirst (Adele, Erasure, Hot Chip).

Red Letter Year (Out Of Stock)

The dozen tunes on Ani DiFranco's new studio album Red Letter Year celebrate existence, profess love and condemn religious fundamentalism with an infectious sense of glee. Joining Ani here are producer Napolitano (Joseph Arthur, The Twilight Singers, Squirrel Nut zippers) and a group of guest artists that includes long-time Ani collaborator Jon Hassell (Brian Eno, Peter Gabriel, Ry Cooder) on trumpet and the Rebirth Brass Band, which shines on the Dixieland instrumental Red Letter Year (reprise).

Ani's band, which features bassist Todd Sickafoose (who also did the string arrangements), vibraphonist Mike Dillon and drummer Allison Miller, is a major source of Red Letter Year's singular personality. On Emancipated Minor, Miller's driving beat tethers to Ani's killer electric guitar hook, while Sickafoose's strings add an otherworldly element to the proceedings. Dillon's vibes on All This are as rich and open-minded as the little folksinger's defiant lyrics.
