    On The Impossible Past

Scranton-raised, Philadelphia-based punk rock outfit The Menzingers drop their Epitaph debut On the Impossible Past, after two acclaimed albums on small indies. The bands fiery early releases and dynamic live performances supporting Anti-Flag and Against Me! have created a serious buzz and landed the group on several best of lists.

The band caught the attention of Epitaph founder and President Brett Gurewitz, who says, These guys play the kind of pure punk rock that I grew up with. They are seriously talented songwriters and Im happy to welcome them to the Epitaph family. I think the band is a great fit here.

Their high energy sound features crashing power chords, rock steady drumming and anthemic sing-along choruses alongside poetic salt of the earth lyrics in the vein of Against Me! and Gaslight Anthem. Recorded and produced at Atlas Studios with longtime collaborators Matt Allison (Alkaline Trio, The Lawrence Arms) and Justin Yates.

    Metropole

LP Contains CD Of Full Album

Chicago's own The Lawrence Arms will release Metropole, their first
album in eight years, in 2014 via Epitaph.  A beloved
band in the punk scene from their inception in 1999, members
Brendan Kelly (vocals/bassist), Chris McCaughan (vocals/guitar), and
Neil Hennessey (drummer) have released five studio albums to date.
Their sixth album and first with Epitaph, Metropole captures "that
aloneinacrowd, strangerinastrangeland kind of shit" according
to Kelly. Metropole was recorded at Chicago's Atlas Studios with co
producer Matt Allison, who has also worked with Chicagopunk
    scene veterans Alkaline Trio.

The followup to their 2009 Fat Wreck
Chords EP Buttsweat and Tears, the new venture takes apart the
band's gritty punk rock and fiery spirit, to reveal a new passion for
storytellingthroughsongwriting. Take the bravely personal lyrics of
You Are Here where McCaughan ironically sings Days just keep
rolling on / They won't miss me when I'm gone / I'm the chorus to
that lonely street / Just footsteps fading to a dying beat."  After a long
hiatus, dedicated fans have missed The Lawrence Arms and are
ready for the band's most dynamic album to date.

    Neon Fiction

Dusk. Mist. Cemeteries. City skylines. Autumn. FEELINGS. Fleeting moments. These are some of the things that come to mind when we think of Chris McCaughan's band, Sundowner. In addition to his work as the guitarist and singer in The Lawrence Arms, over the last seven years Chris has amassed an impressive body of work and played all over the world as Sundowner.

Fat will release his third studio album, Neon Fiction. This time around, Chris is once again joined by multi-instrumentalist and fellow Lawrence Arm, Neil Hennessy. The two have boldly expanded their horizons to experiment with full band instrumentations, dynamic arrangements, and stylistic departures from previous records. Together, Chris and Neil entered Atlas Studios (Alkaline Trio, The Menzingers, Masked Intruder) and crafted ten songs that feature indelible new melodies and Chris' most personal and confident lyrics.

    Heart Beats Pacific (Awaiting Repress)

Described as the perfect ambassadors of Midwest punk, Banner Pilot reinforced that role with the success of their Fat Wreck Chords debut Collapser. A perfect amalgam of their immediate influences (Dillinger Four, The Lawrence Arms, Alkaline Trio, Jawbreaker), Banner Pilot continue to represent the genre through the impeccably crafted, gritty pop-punk songs on their latest release Heart Beats Pacific. These poetic punks turn a phrase like nobody's business, spinning relatable situations and emotions into clever prose delivered through gruff vocals. Each of the 11-tracks on Heart Beats Pacific is a stand alone, bona fide hit and collectively they make up a rare flawless listening experience.

    The Speakeasy (Awaiting Repress)

The Speakeasy is undoubtedly Smoke Or Fire's pièce de rÉsistance. Every element of The Speakeasy suggests that the band has finally realized their potential and it's a complete album in the truest sense, lacking nothing, while offering varied, yet equally enthralling melodies and music on each of its 13 tracks. Constructed around the cornerstone of the guitar driven, heavy punk rock sound they are known for, this album evolves much farther. Innovative melodies are ushered along by clever guitar work as gruff vocals give way at times to a more polished pitch.

From the jumpy cadence of 1968, to the anthemic sound of Integrity, to the folk based Honey I Was Right About the War, The Speakeasy maintains high energy throughout, while displaying a range of songwriting mastery. Add to this the fact that Smoke or Fire brought in a new rhythm section featuring Ryan Parrish (Darkest Hour) on drums and Gwomper (Avail) on bass, along with enlisting the production talents of Matt Allison (Alkaline Trio, Lawrence Arms).
