    Let's Get It On

Let's Get It On is the thirteenth studio album by Marvin Gaye. Serving as Gaye's first venture into the funk genre and romance-themed music, "Let's Get It On" incorporates smooth soul, doo-wop, and quiet storm. It has been noted by critics for its sexually suggestive lyrics, and was cited by one writer as one of the most sexually charged albums ever recorded. Continuing with its vinyl reissue campaign, UMe will be reissuing this classic on 180 gram vinyl.

    Let It Be

Let It Be looms large among '80s rock albums, generally regarded as one of the greatest records of the
decade. Nothing about Let It Be is clean; it's all a ragged mess, careening wildly from dirty jokes to wounded ballads,
from utter throwaways to songs haunting in their power. This blend of bluster and vulnerability is why the
Replacements were perhaps the most beloved band of their era, as they captured all the chaos and confusion of
coming of age in the midst of Reaganomics, and Let It Be is nothing if not a coming-of-age album, perched precisely
between adolescence and adulthood. There's just enough angst and tastelessness to have the album speak to
teenagers of all generations and just enough complicated emotion to make this music resonate with listeners long past
those awkward years, whether they grew up with this album or not.

    Let's Be Still

It wasn't that long ago that the members of Seattle's The Head and the Heart were busking on street corners, strumming their acoustic guitars, stomping their feet and singing in harmony as they attempted to attract the attention of passersby. After capturing that unbridled energy on the band's 2011 debut album for hometown label Sub Pop, the band went from playing open mic nights to selling out headlining shows in prestigious venues. The album became one of Sub Pop's best-selling debut releases in years. And, slowly but surely, ideas began to form for the band's second album, imbued with the experiences of traveling the world and playing to ever-growing crowds.

The Head and the Heart's new album, Let's Be Still, is a snapshot of a band that didn't exist four years ago. Virginia native Jonathan Russell and California transplant Josiah Johnson formed the core songwriting partnership, which was rounded out by drummer Tyler Williams, keyboardist Kenny Hensley, vocalist/violinist Charity Rose Thielen and bassist Chris Zasche, who'd met Russell and Johnson while tending bar at an open mic they frequented. The nascent group dove headrst into writing, recording and performing, and even moved into the same house.

After the breakaway success of their debut and countless shows on the road, the band is in a distinctly different situation. "There is a condence gained from having such an amazing fan base," says group member Jonathan Russell. "You start to trust yourself more. When we were busking, we were lling so much space to keep the listener from walking away." Says Johnson, "We wanted to write songs that felt bigger, and didn't need to be so frantic. I think for the most part we wanted to record an album that sounds like the way we play now."

Adds Russell, "Has there been an impact on our lives since we have become full-time musicians? Sure. On one hand, it's everything you have ever wanted. On the other hand, you start to miss the things you've lost and had to give up. And that's just life. My job is to write about it."

Let's Be Still was recorded at Seattle's Studio Litho with assistance from prior production collaborator Shawn Simmons, and mixed in Bridgeport, Conn., with Peter Katis, revered for his work with bands such as the National, Interpol and the Swell Season.

    Let's Be Ready

The Wooden Sky have announced their highly anticipated fourth album Lets Be Ready, out via Nevado Music. This release marks the start of new beginnings, as the tireless roots rockers conceived the album amidst a time of many changes while they parted ways with one of the groups founding members. In order to give each song a unique perspective and to encapsulate their raw live energy, the band, alongside producer Chris Stringer (Timbre Timbre, Ohbijou) decided to record the album across various studios throughout Toronto.

The album opens with the up beat track "Saturday Night" which combines shimmering guitar melodies over heart heavy lyrics, while "Baby Hold On" offers up the bands stylistic dexterity as it shifts from folk to country and back again while singer Gavin Gardiner's soulful draw is supported by the bands gospel-like backing harmonies. "Shake For Me" starts off slowly and continues to build as it finally peaks with the last minute swirling into a wash of guitars and drums. The first single "Maybe It's No Secret" showcases the bands raw live energy while lyrically dealing with the hardships and nomadic lifestyle of being in a touring band.

The Wooden Sky draw on both thoughts of the past as well as what lies ahead as Lets Be Ready marks a step forward for the band.

    Won't Let You Down

In the 12 years she has toured the world as a member of the soul-pop sensation Lake Street Dive, Bridget Kearney has fine-tuned many things -- voracious collaborating, acclaimed bass playing, and harmonizing to name a few. But the skill she has honed most obsessively is songwriting. While still a student at The New England Conservatory of Music, Kearney won the grand prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, a harbinger of things to come. Now, Kearney steps into the spotlight with her first solo effort, a wry, bighearted pop album entitled Won't Let You Down. The record, like its title, promises not to disappoint. Shades of The Beatles, Wilco, Fleetwood Mac and even Nick Cave can be detected, as the album swerves from '60s pop to modern indie-rock.

Prophet started his wild ride back in 1984, when Green on Red, the
seminal purveyors of American Rock-Roots, plucked him out of
Berkeley, CA and threw him in the van for an eight-year ride, and the
recording of as many albums. Since then Prophet has recorded nine
amazing solo albums and toured and recorded with the likes of
Lucinda Williams, Aimee Mann, Cake, and Jonathan Richman, not to
mention production credits for Warren Zevon, Alejandro Escovedo
and Kelly Willis. Ryan Adams, Solomon Burke and Heart have
recorded his songs, along with a host of others. Prophet has never
been one to rest on his laurels and ride it out.
For his ninth solo album Let Freedom Ring, Chuck reached out to
some musicians and talked them into going down to Mexico City, The
Biggest City in the World (pop. 25 million). Recorded at Estudio 19, a
state-ofthe- art studio (well, circa 1958 state-of-the-art anyway) with
Greg Leisz (Beck, Wilco, Emmylou Harris) coproducing.
Within three days of arriving swine flu broke out and the indignity of
having to wear blue surgical masks just to fit in.
Over the course of the next eight days, the band set about recording
¡Let Freedom Ring!, enduring a poorly timed blackout, shakedowns
by the Policia, and a 6.4 earthquake mid-take - Mexico City might only
be 4 hours away by plane but it might as well have been on the other
side of the moon. But whilst mayhem ensued, the band buckled down
to the task in hand, all set up together in a tight little bamboo lined
room with the amps cranked. Chuck played his Fender Squire, Kelly
Stoltz on backing vocals, Rusty Miller (Jason Lyte‟s band) played
bass while Drummer Ernest Boom Carter turned his sticks into
kindling. Carter played on Springsteen‟s Born To Run - he promptly
quit the E Street Band after they spent 6 months recording it. The
results can be heard from the Clash inspired opener to the power pop
of Let Freedom Ring‟ and the Eddie Cochran infused Good Time
    Crowd‟.

    Let The Dominoes Fall

Rancid's Let The Dominoes Fall is essential Rancid: a readymade punk classic that will take its place beside And Out Come the Wolves as a touchstone of the genre, filled with two-minute gems that every kid in America will be singing along with this summer. Lead by first single Last One To Die, a defiant anthem of brotherhood and commitment that's already tearing it up at modern rock radio, Let the Dominoes Fall both continues and expands on Rancid's legacy, as the new songs show a lyrical depth perhaps best shown in the two songs that center the album, Civilian Ways and The Bravest Kids. Punk has often seen the world as us vs. them, but with these two songs, a sensitive portrait of a returning serviceman and a loving tribute to those that serve, Rancid show empathy for working Americans that recalls the songs of Springsteen or Petty. Rancid have set their sights on greater things and hit the bullseye. Also features guest star Booker T. on Hammond organ on the super danceable Up To No Good.

    Let Them Fall In Love

The best-selling and most-awarded female gospel artist of all time, CeCe Winans has long since cemented her status as one of the most accomplished and celebrated women in modern music history. It'd be easy to look back and rest on such illustrious laurels, but Winans has always had her eyes fixed firmly on the future, so it should come as little surprise that she jumped at the opportunity when her son, Alvin Love III, proposed she record the generation-bridging new album 'Let Them Fall In Love.' Her first in nearly a decade, the record finds Winans returning to the studio with gusto, working for roughly three years to craft her most confident, adventurous collection yet.

Recording and performing as both a solo artist and as a duo with her brother BeBe, CeCe has influenced a generation of gospel and secular vocalists over the course of her astonishing career. Her mantel today holds a staggering 10 GRAMMY Awards, 20 Dove Awards, and 7 Stellar Awards. She's been inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the Nashville Music City Walk of Fame, in addition to being named a Trailblazer of Soul by BMI and garnering multiple NAACP Image Awards, Soul Train Awards, Essence Awards, and more. She's sold in excess of 5 million albums in the US, topping the Gospel charts repeatedly while crossing over with smashes like "Count On Me," her stunning duet with Whitney Houston from the multi-platinum 'Waiting To Exhale' soundtrack, which sold 2 million copies and cracked the Top 10 on the Pop, R&B, and Adult Contemporary charts. She touched millions more with inspirational performances everywhere from Oprah to The White House, and even showed off her acting chops on television series like '7th Heaven' and 'Doc.'

While collaborating with family is nothing new for Winans, the recording sessions for 'Let Them Fall In Love" found the Detroit native working for the very first time with her son in the producer's chair.

"Alvin shared with me a vision that he had of a record that was bold and a little different than anything I'd ever done before," remembers Winans. "When I heard the songs he'd been writing, I got so excited. He has great ears and great style and a unique way of writing and thinking things through. It made it extra special that two generations of family were able to come together on this record."

Bringing together generations is Winans' specialty, and she drew inspiration for the album from her extensive work with the young men and women who attend the church she and her husband founded in Nashville.

"It's really important to me to share where I've been and to encourage young people to understand that they can go even further," reflects Winans. "I wanted to make an album that ties us together, something that young people would be able to learn from and be inspired by."

Written primarily by Alvin and co-produced by Alvin along with Winans' long-time collaborator Tommy Sims (Garth Brooks, Michael McDonald, Bonnie Raitt), 'Let Them Fall In Love' was mixed by Dae Bennett (Tony Bennett, Amy Whinehouse, Olivia Newton John) and Jimmy Douglass (Pharrell Williams, Micheal Buble). The album, recorded both in Nashville and New York City, finds Winans more confident than ever before, merging eras and genres in a glorious blend of past and present that simultaneously recalls the heyday of Motown and still sounds undeniably modern. Big band horns meet strings from the Nashville String Machine as Winans' soaring voice hits new heights, fueled in part by the encouragement and motivation of her son.

"Alvin was hard on me in the studio," remembers Winans. "He'd really work me during the songs, and I knew that was a good thing because it meant he was pressing me to get the best performances possible. Now I listen back and I know he was right. It was so important to get the right interpretation of each song."

Winans is able to inhabit each song on the record so fully in part because she's lived their stories. She describes album opener "He's Never Failed Me Yet" as "my personal testimony," "Run To Him" as her frequent act of refuge, and "Marvelous" as a musical embodiment of the black church. On "Hey Devil!," she's joined by fellow gospel powerhouses The Clark Sisters for a playful rebuke of temptation, while "Peace From God" is a prayer for light in an increasingly dark world, and "Lowly" is a lesson about pride and humility aimed at the young men who might need it most. Winans' eclectic ability shines through on the pedal steel country waltz of "Why Me," a song she discovered when she was invited to perform it live with its writer, Kris Kristofferson.

"I ended up getting sick and I couldn't perform it with him at the show, but my son heard it and knew it would be perfect for the album," explains Winans. "It's so different for me in this whole new field of country music, but it spoke to my heart and I felt like it was written just for me."

On the album's other cover, "Dancing in The Spirit," Winans is joined by Hezekiah Walker and his choir for a jubilant celebration, while "Never Have To Be Alone" finds her taking a far more somber approach, singing to the young members of her congregation. It's the album's closer and title track, though, that seems to light Winans up more than any other.

"That was the first song for this album and I knew right away that I wanted the record to be named 'Let Them Fall In Love,'" she explains. "I told my son that it had to be the heartbeat of the album. There's a lot of different styles and a lot of strong messages on there, but all of them are to bring us to this point. It's why I came back and recorded another album, to express my heart and my desire that people young and old can listen and fall in love with the higher power, fall in love with love, and fall in love with faith and joy and peace."

    What's Left To Let Go

Hailing from the United Kingdom, Goodtime Boys are one of Bridge Nine Records' newest signees. Signing to a hardcore label such as B9 carries with it an expectation that Goodtime Boys immediately buck. The band share more in common with La Dispute and Pianos Become the Teeth than other B9 bands like Foundation or Expire.

What's Left to Let Go starts off with Bloom, which has a chilling relaxed guitar intro. However when the full band come in, it kicks it up a notch with a melodic but upbeat rhythm. Then vocalist Alex Pennie comes in with his powerful vocals and really brings in the full sound of the band. I immediately noticed the accent on the vocalist, but it's a good thing as it makes the band sound different than most bands of this hard-to-name genre that has been gaining a lot of ground in the hardcore community. His lyrics are immediately at the forefront of everything, as well they should be, being powerful and emotional. The rest of the song keeps up this swing of going from relaxed to very powerful and back again like a lot of the songs on this record. However, it doesn't get monotonous or boring as the band have a good enough writing ability to keep the music interesting.

In the middle of the record the song Rest cools things off a bit coming in with a simple drum beat and an almost haunting guitar melody that fit the lyrics and vocal delivery perfectly. And that's the great simplicity of What's Left to Let Go; Goodtime Boys aren't afraid to use a pattern and vocal style that has been established, but do their own thing with it to try and keep it interesting. This album is technically a double EP and not a singular LP as the first five songs were previously released on the Are We Now, Or Have We Ever Been EP. However, if I had not known this I would not have figured it out from listening to the record as the songs flow so fluidly it sounds like one album. This is partially due to the band's cohesive writing and also partially due to those songs and the new songs being mixed by Defeater guitarist and Getaway Recordings engineer Jay Maas.

James Bond: Live and Let Die Soundtrack

1973 Soundtrack Includes Paul McCartney & Wings Performing Live And Let Die!

Live and Let Die is the soundtrack to the eighth James Bond film of the same name. It was scored by George Martin. The title song was written by Paul and Linda McCartney and performed by Paul McCartney & Wings.

It was the first Bond film score not to involve John Barry.

Producers Saltzman and Albert Broccoli approached Paul McCartney to write the theme song and McCartney in turn asked Martin to record it for him. Impressed with the orchestration for the finished track, Saltzman and Broccoli considered Martin for the film's score.

Martin worked closely with director Guy Hamilton who described what the music should convey in each scene as it unfolds. Only very minor changes to the finished score were asked for. Martin felt that this was as much for Hamilton's accurate briefing.

The orchestra was conducted by Martin and recorded at AIR studios. The soundtrack was also released in quadrophonic.

Live and Let Die was the first time that a rock music arrangement was used to open a Bond film. It was also the first time that McCartney and Martin had worked together since Abbey Road in 1969. McCartney had been considered as title song composer for the previous Bond film, Diamonds Are Forever.
The Live and Let Die single was a major success in the U.S. and U.K. and continues to be a highlight of McCartney's live shows.

Sharon Van Etten has never needed much room to make a grand statement. With four albums during the
last six years, she's become one of music's most astute new cartographers of the heart, able to capture
emotional trials and triumphs with incisive lines and a voice that loses nothing in the translation and
transmission of feelings. Her second record, epic, needed only seven tracks to live up to its title. 2012's
Tramp and last year's Are We There, went longer, but Van Etten managed still to squeeze enormous
sentiments into especially small spaces. From start to rising stardom, Van Etten has forever understood the
    impact of economy

It should come as no surprise, then, that the five-song EP I Don't Want to Let You Down offers documents
of surrender and disappointment, admission and longing in only 22 minutes. Produced by Van Etten and
Stewart Lerman, who also helmed Are We There, these songs are as sophisticated as anything Van Etten has
ever done. Supported by a string section during "I Always Fall Apart," Van Etten's voice rises alongside her
piano. Her prismatic harmonies betray the terror of the song's central admission and one of the new lyrical
cornerstones of her catalogue: "You know I always fall apart/It's not my fault/It's just my flaw/It's who I am."
During the title track, she slowly pushes her voice past an introductory murmur, as if scanning her
surroundings for the resolve to be stronger and more steadfast than she knows she has been. Building across
four minutes, the desperation of the title is expressed through guitars that get bigger, harmonies that get
broader. The chorus is a sing-along commandment, an indelible promise Van Etten makes to be better. The
War on Drugs' Adam Granduciel and David Hartley join Antibalas' Stuart Bogie, Peter Broderick and
Heather Woods-Broderick for "Pay My Debts." The longest song here, it's a cinematic number that smolders
like shoegaze before climaxing into an inescapable seesaw refrain.

The EP ends with a live rendition of "Tell Me." A demo from Tramp, but backed here by her four-piece
touring band, the tune becomes a kind of battle cry for respect and a charged pronouncement of Van Etten's
cultivated powers. It's a map of the singer's progression from an acoustic songwriter to a bona fide
bandleader, a reminder of the poignancy and efficiency her work has long paired.

Swinging Doors / The Bottle Let Me Down

The #1 country album of 1966, includes the hits Swinging Doors and The Bottle Let Me Down

Merle Haggard's third album, Swinging Doors / The Bottle Let Me Down, was assembled from a variety of singles and session like its two predecessors, but it contained a stronger overall selection of material than either album. In addition to the two masterpieces from which the album took its name, the record included a terrific version of Tommy Collins' High On A Hilltop, and plus excellent songs like The Girl Turned Ripe, If I Could Be Him, and Someone Else You've Known.

    Let's Dance Raw

    Japanese Singer-Songwriter, Multi-instrumentalist's
Follow-up To 2012's How To Live With A Phantom

Japanese singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Shintaro
Sakamoto returns with a new full-length, Let's Dance Raw, which
Other Music Recording Co. (distributed by Fat Possum) releases on
September 16. The album is the follow-up to Sakamoto's solo debut,
the otherworldly folk-pop masterpiece How to Live with a Phantom
    (2012, Other Music).

While How to Live with a Phantom was the first many around the
globe knew of Sakamoto, he has long been an icon in his homeland,
having long fronted the psychedelic phenomenon Yura Yura Teikoku,
a Tokyo-based band that emerged from Koenji's legendary UFO
Club scene and, across their 20-year trajectory, achieved mainstream
success throughout the country. Following the group's break-up in
2010, Sakamoto began working on How to Live with a Phantom, a bold
stylistic departure that eschewed Yura Yura Teikokou's psychedelic
freak-outs for a much quieter and harder-to-define sound.

From first glimpse of the cover of Let's Dance Raw, it's clear that
once again, we are entering uncharted territory. The record's sleeve,
painted by Sakamoto, features the artist sitting upon a black throne,
a steel guitar resting on his knee like a child being protected from
the ominous mushroom cloud of smoke billowing behind him.
A grinning skull has replaced Sakamoto's face. This dichotomy of
bright, innocent beauty and subtle perversity is the essence of Let's
Dance Raw, with Sakamoto moving even further from the tough
underground power-trio psychedelic rock of his former band.

He hinted at the new sound throughout his solo debut, and here
the music is blown wide open, with the steel guitar as the unifying
force throughout. Sakamoto purchased and learned how to play the
instrument just prior to writing and recording Let's Dance Raw, and
it enriches the post-apocalyptic exotica on these ten songs, fusing
together the bright and breezy shimmer of Hawaiian slack-key hula
melodies, the dusty shuffle of southwestern desert blues, and the
space-age bachelor-pad music of postwar suburban dreamers. The
result is an album that revisits the soundtracks of musical escapism
made popular in postwar American and Japanese cultures-and
    deftly updates them.

It's all anchored by deep, jazzy grooves straight out of a 1970s
AM radio broadcast, and peppered with flourishes of Brazilian and
Latin percussion throughout. Atop the music, Sakamoto sings of the
human race's downfall, the weight of the lyrics made contrastingly
perverse via duets with robotic vocoder voices and helium-voiced
cartoon chipmunks cooing in an unsettling fashion alongside him.
While Sakamoto once again handles the bulk of the instrumental
duties, faithful drummer and percussionist Yuta Suganuma also
returns for this set, as well as bassist AYA, on loan from fellow Japanese
    psychedelic explorers OOIOO.

    Let's Get Metaphysical

Described by the NME as sounding like 'Weezer being beaten up by The Dillinger Escape Plan', Carnivores draw influence from Fugazi, At The Drive-In, Idlewild, Helmet, Elvis Costello and Nirvana. Carnivores are a three-piece rock band based in Paisley, Scotland. Formed in the late 2000's they got to work the old fashioned way, touring the toilet venues of Scotland in a battered estate car building a fan-base show by show. They quickly gained a reputation as one of the craziest live bands in Scotland. Carnivores are: Kenny Leckie (vocals / guitar), Grant M (bass/vocals) and Martin Johnston (drums/backing vocals). Their debut album 'Let's Get Metaphysical'. Recorded live in just six days with producer Bruce Rintoul (Twin Atlantic/Fatherson), the album captures the raw intensity of the band's live show matched with a more melodic, introspective aspect to Carnivores sound.

Teen Suicide's new album, It's the Big Joyous Celebration, Let's Stir the Honeypot is also, according to the band, their final record. Recorded over fourteen months with a Robert Altman-sized group of collaborators and performers, it's both a skeleton key for the band's earlier work & a great corrective addition to it. Updating rather than refuting all of the past themes and styles of their revered first LP "i will be my own hell because there is a devil inside my body" and numerous EPs, Big Joyous Celebration shifts between punk, noise, country, house & a myriad of other electric dance genres to create something as messy, sprawling, and captivating as its mouthful of a title. Spread over twenty six tracks, there is plenty that Teen Suicide's swansong has to say for itself in the band's distinct, captivating, and refreshingly enjoyable voice.
