    Stills Lit Through

Stills Lit Through offers the first comprehensive body of work from
    musician and visual artist Tallesen.

Hailing from the Hudson Valley of New York, Tallesen - born
Cayman Johnson - describes Stills as a response to the
"continuous flexibility of the physical setting by the additive of
sound." A reference to his joyful erasure of the distinction
    between music and experience.

The twelve songs of Stills Lit Through conjure an eidolon of
melodies painted with watercolor brushstrokes both calm
("Glenticast") and frenetic ("Emmel"). To our ears, this closely
characterizes Johnson's work as a visual artist.

The collection when taken as a whole is wonderfully consistent.
We hear echoes of Autechre's corporeal maneuvers (bass as lead
voice, plasticity of foreground vs. background), but, if you dig out
the provenance of Johnson's nom de plume, you really start to
understand how the melodic through-lines of the record operate
    on a more illustrative level.

What appears to you as a macro-level core 'feeling' about the
record is illusively varied, consisting of insanely lush song nodes
that subtly and endlessly rotate and shift. It is a music that is both
ultra beautiful (Strike Silver, Love Green) and invested in a core
belief dealing with the materiality of musical sound itself
(Plasticized Fsa). It's not the house in which melodies are stored,
it's the crypt of inspiration from which melodies emerge.

Rhythmically, Stills encourages ephemera towards the creation of
a seductively creaky, silvery universe with an unreliable sense of
gravity. The result is hallucinatory in that the album
comprehensively experiences like volumes among volumes of
things change, but in half-speed. "The music is saturated with
information for it to remain flexible to its surroundings," describes
Cayman, an ode to feeling "ambiance with a modern degree of
    attention."

Thus we enter the world of Stills Lit Through, a comprehensive
portrait of young Cayman Johnson's enigmatic, sensual world-building music.

    The Moon Lit Our Path

TEMPEL have spent the past two years pushing musical boundaries to create The Moon Lit Our Path". Featuring five impassioned tracks that command the listener's full attention, the album will be released worldwide via Prosthetic Records. "We poured ourselves into this album," says Wenzel. The new album represents a big evolution in all aspects of our work." Adds Corle, "The goal was to make sure everything was constantly moving in these songs. We didn't want anything to interrupt the forward momentum. At the same time, we wanted to work in all the different types of metal we love that we didn't feel were represented on the debut."

    Nicki Bluhm And The Gramblers

Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers is a luminous, heartfelt patchwork of California folk-rock, brisk Americana and show-stopping soul, punctuated with fresh four-part harmonies, crisp rock guitar and Nicki's soaring, nuanced vocals that some critics say remind them of Linda Ronstadt.

Their self titled album is the first record from the full band - it is a family album, featuring 11 new songs penned by the band members. It was arranged and produced by Nicki's husband and the band's musical director, Tim Bluhm, and recorded at the Bluhm's Mission Bells studio in San

    Brokedown In Bakersfield - Live!

Brokedown in Bakersfield is a collective of acclaimed West Coast musicians joining forces in a spirited tribute to the Bakersfield sound: California
country music made raw and rocking, spiked with twang and sweetened with heartfelt harmonies.

The group features Lebo of ALO on pedal steel, Scott Law on Telecaster, singer Nicki Bluhm of Gramblers fame, Tim Bluhm of The Mother Hips on
vocals and acoustic guitar, and ALO rhythm section partners Steve Adams and Dave Brogan.

Drawing from the powerful songbooks of Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Gram Parsons and more, Brokedown in Bakersfield showcases the striking
songwriting and instrumentation of guitar-slinging country sounds that added oil to the Dust Bowl life of '60s-era Southern California - on the road, in the
truck, out the back, and at the honky tonk.

This LP release chronicles the band's live performances of Bakerfield classics.

    Loved Wild Lost

Nicki Bluhm and The Gramblers' much-anticipated sophomore album is titled Loved Wild Lost. The band teamed with producer Brian Deck (Iron & Wine, Modest Mouse, Josh Ritter) on Loved Wild Lost and it's their first time working with an outside collaborator. The result is their most compelling collection of songs to date. The richly layered sound forms the ideal foundation for Bluhm's soaring vocals and increasingly powerful songcraft. Further color comes from San Francisco's Magik*Magik Orchestra (Death Cab for Cutie, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Walkmen), whose complex arrangements serve to amplify the indelibly universal themes of Loved Wild Lost.

"Loved Wild Lost is a sincere and sophisticated collection of songs steeped in tradition, but of its own time," says Nicki Bluhm. "After three solid years of playing as a band across the country, we have had time to learn, reflect and grow. This album displays a departure into the deeper and more contemplative themes of people in transition and the struggle to retain the energy and optimism of youth as life becomes more complex."

"The longer something moves away from its inception point, the more it takes on a life and a narrative of its own," adds Nicki's husband and the band's musical director, Tim Bluhm. "In these songs, I think you can clearly hear that happening; idealism and optimism losing control to the forces of inertia and a life of constant traveling. Happiness becomes an intention and love becomes a long-term study of oneself and of one another."

    Passover

These are fighting times, people. We are surrounded by grit, spit, and bloody war, but in the distance moving forward is The Black Angels. Passover, The Black Angels debut album, speaks of real-life horrors, death, and destruction with doses of love, sex, and healing. Dont lose track, these are caring times as well.

Formed in 2004 and hailing from the mescaline-infused outskirts of Austin, Texas, this gang of musical misfits has been on the road non-stop since their birth, performing at such renowned venues as Sin-e, Middle East, and Spaceland. In early 2006, the bands self-titled debut EP was dubbed highly recommended in Spin Magazine while receiving heavy radio airplay on such influential stations as KEXP and BBC Radio 1 by Zane Lowe.

Growing in spades since their EP, Passover showcases a band on the make. Spiraling upwards to the skies with the enemy straight on their trail, The Sniper At The Gates Of Heaven sees The Black Angels reaching high and stretching out with trance-inducing guitar lines from Christian Bland, Nate Ryans filthy medical dumpster bass, and the grizzly preacher vox of lead shaman Alex Maas. Black Grease is a bluesy monster full of swagger propelled by the primitive beat of drummer Stephanie Bailey and the mourning drone of organist Jennifer Raines.

10-songs deep, Passover has come again. Reflecting and questioning the intergenerational psychosis of American social life that surrounds us, The Black Angels put forth their answers in song. Its a Call To Arms for those ready to join the good fight, a rock n roll salvation during the times we need it the most. As Maas bellows on Young Man Dead, Fire for the hills, pick up speed, and lets go

    Je T'Aime...Moi Non Plus

Without a doubt, Serge Gainsbourg is agent provacateur and Gallic soul brother #1. His sensual work is championed by all in the know and still resonates quite frankly in these sexually exaggerated times. Building on the North American re-introduction to the maestros work with 1971s masterpiece concept album Histoire de Melody Nelson, Light In The Attic Records is thrilled to announce their follow-up Gainsbourg reissue. 1969s Jane Brikin/Serge Gainsbourg (often referred to as Je taime Moi, Non Plus).

Recorded as a series of duets and solo performances, with lover, actress, and model Birkin, the pairs chemistry-enhanced collaboration was thrust about the record buying public to much shock and horror, but indeed found global success. The disc quickly shot its cigarette brandishing author and fresh-faced vocalist in to the international spotlight; and although the lead-off single Je Taime and its seductive purrs reached top slot in the UK charts, no one other than the Pope branded the tune offensive and blasphemous. Ever the conversationalist, Gainsbourg wittily replied, we couldnt have gotten a better PR man! Indeed Serge, indeed.

    Coming From Reality

Back in 1971, Coming From Reality was Rodriguez's last gasp, the follow-up to Cold Fact and the final album he was allowed to record for the Sussex label. Unearthed, once again, by Light In The Attic Records, it's another treat for fans new and old, designed - at the time - as Rodriguez's vision of a perfect pop album.

Coming From Reality found Rodriguez decamping from Detroit to London's Lansdowne Studios, where the album was recorded with some of the UK's top talent including Chris Spedding (Sex Pistols, Dusty Springfield, Harry Nilsson) and producer Steve Rowland (The Pretty Things, PJ Proby and the man who discovered The Cure), who recalls Coming From Reality as his favourite ever recording project.

Highlights include the super-poppy "To Whom It May Concern", the "Rocky Raccoon"-inspired "A Most Disgusting Song" and period piece "Heikki's Suburbia Bus Tour". The CD reissue also includes three previously unreleased bonus tracks recorded in Detroit in 1972 with Cold Fact collaborators Mike Theodore & Dennis Coffey, representing the last thing they ever did together.

Meanwhile, the Rodriguez story keeps gathering pace. A Swedish documentary company are working on a feature length documentary about the enigmatic performer's life and music, and Rodriguez is planning to bring his live show to the UK and Europe come Spring/Summer 2009, along with further North America touring.

"It's an extraordinary trip," says Rodriguez of his new lease on life. "It feels like Picasso, Monet. All these exciting new thoughts coming at me. It's global. I'm lucky to have this second chance. It's very real and totally unexpected."

Sixto Rodriguez, then. Still coming from reality, and bigger than ever before.

This uncommonly mature 21-year-old singer/songwriter's Nonesuch debut balances the warm-hearted with the cold-blooded. Tell Me is a stunningly forthright 11-song set that addresses late-night longing, serial heartbreak and intoxicatingly dangerous liaisons conducted in dimly lit barrooms or roadside motels. By the end, the only heart intact is Mayfield's own. It's as if she'd stripped the sentimentality and ruefulness from a bunch of classic country songs, leaving only stark emotion. The Black Keys' singer and guitarist Dan Auerbach, who produced and engineered Tell Me at his Easy Eye Sound System studio in Akron, Ohio, matches Mayfield's candor with eerily minimal, brilliantly constructed tracks that keep her mesmerizing, unadorned voice front and center.

    Mr. Tambourine Man (MONO)

Ranked 232/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

The Byrds burst upon an already fertile pop/rock music scene in the spring of 1965 with a stunning retooling of Bob Dylan's Mr. Tambourine Man that changed everything. The debut album of the same name that followed, featuring mindblowing folk-rock gems like The Bells Of Rhymney, I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better and Chimes Of Freedom, was so aromatically intoxicating it even lit a fire under the Beatles across the Atlantic, beavering away on Rubber Soul. The Mr. Tambourine Man longplayer is so bountiful it almost doubles as a Byrds greatest hits, volume one. Here Without You and I Knew Id Want You weave a sense of mystery into the Byrds' eerie harmonic tapestry. And All I Want To Do, along with Spanish Harlem Incident, once again, connect Dylan's magic to the pop charts in a way only McGuinn, Crosby, Clark, Hillman and Clarke could pull off.

Unavailable for over 40 years, we're proud to present the first ever reissue of this monumental recording in its original, highly-sought-after mono incarnation, cut directly from the original Columbia Recordings analog mono masters, with perfect artwork restoration and meticulously faithful mastering.

    In God We Trust

With Grand Puba's departure shortly after the issue of the group's debut full-length, Brand Nubian as a trio
was no more. Grand Puba went on as a solo artist while Lord Jamar and Sadat X (formerly Derek) kept the
Brand Nubian name and released the amazing follow up In God We Trust. The album quickly silenced anyone
who had any doubt that they would be able to follow up their debut classic with another classic as they did just
    that.

"Allah U Akbar starts things off and was a clear sign that they were back in business in a very real way. Songs
like "Pass the Gat" and "Steady Bootlegging" show the no nonsense style that had come to be expected from
the Nubians, while "Love Me or Leave Me Alone" surprised all with how perfectly they blended the subject
matter of woman and relationships, without it being corny. "Black Star Line", "The Travel Jam" and "Ain't No
Mystery" all round out the album and are a perfect mix of cutting edge production and the five percent subject matter the group is known to espouse.

The albums classic single, the Diamond D produced "Punks Jump Up to Get Beat Down" was the cut that truly
lit a fire under hip hop's collective rear-end. The album version of the song went hard but the remix utilized in
the music video-confirmed that THIS Brand Nubian were here to stay.

This highly anticipated follow up to Sounds From the Thievery Hi-fi left both critics and audiophiles delighted with Thievery Corporation's expert treatment
of bossa nova, dub, and downtempo. Featuring lush vocals by Bebel Gilberto, Pam Bricker, Lou Lou, and See-I, The Mirror Conspiracy is a fantastic
    statement from ESL Music.

" their remix work since then has since established them as leaders of the pack. And true to its name, the Corporation surreptitiously lays down
overdubs of keyboards, congas, and percussive instruments to piece together a darkly beautiful piece of music in The Mirror Conspiracy." - Wall of Sound

"The only thing snappier than Rob Garza and Eric Hilton's Armani suits and Bruno Magli shoes is the suave, downbeat dance tracks the Washington D.C.
duo creates as Thievery Corporation. The pair's top-shelf aural cocktails, which involve a smooth mixture of dub reggae, trip-hop, acid jazz and Middle
Eastern musics, have been fueling the fires of backroom lounges and dimly lit bedrooms since the pair's first singles emerged in 1996. The Mirror
Conspiracy, TC's long-awaited sophomore album, raises the temperature of the mix by melding the synthetic serenity of lush keyboards with the warm
hues of live strings, brass, percussion and the pipes of a host of vocalists " - CMJ

    Future Brown

Often dubbed a "supergroup", each member of Future Brown is a seasoned artist across genres. Fatima Al Qadiri, a Kuwaiti musician and visual artist, last year debuted her LP Asiatisch to critical acclaim via the infamous Hyperdub. LA-based Daniel Pineda and AsmaMaroof have been producing and DJing as Nguzunguzu for the Fade To Mind crew and worked with rappers Le1f, M.I.A and R&B singer Kelela. J-Cush, runs Lit City Trax from NYC, a label providing an outlet for urban music from every corner of the globe including the late Chicago footwork legend DJ Rashad. Presenting vocal collaborators with strains of sonic ideas they would never encounter otherwise, Future Brown manage to catalyze a cosmopolitan, experimental approach to contemporary urban sounds. Future Brown caught early attention with their breakaway track featuring Chicago's rising star Tink. The first producers outside of her city to champion the young vocalist (who is now working on her debut album with Timbaland and AndrÉ 3000), the epic 'Wanna Party' now bookends the album with another Tink collab, "Room 302". Other vocalists include grime's Ruff Sqwad members Rapid and Dirty Danger, Kelela, Yung Chop's 8TMG MCs and Stargete'sproteges Sicko Mobb. Timberlee (reggaton star and Major Lazer collaborator) even graces the album, as well as rapper Shawnna. Performatively Future Brown have backed up their sound with full concept installations at MoMA's PS1 Gallery alongside DIS Magazine as well as Miami's Art Basel this winter. On radio they have gained fans regionally as varied as BBC Radio1 and DJ Pharris at Power 92 Chicago.

Ranked 167/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

One of the defining albums of thrash metal, the 1986 album Master of Puppets is arguably Metallica's best as well as their last with bassist Cliff Burton. Focusing on the concept of power and abuses thereof, this is a collection of complex, intelligent music, played at about a hundred miles an hour. The striding Battery, the darkly lit Welcome Home (Sanitarium), as well as the complex instrumental, Orion, all gave powerful testament to the band's ever-developing skill and vision. An album with lengthy arrangements (three songs came in at over eight minutes) and an overall eight song onslaught that clocks in at over an hour was unheard of in metal at the time and it confirmed that Metallica was at a different level, a legendary one!

    In Rolling Waves

Beyond a life hardwired to pop culture via the 24 hour news feed, The Naked and Famous elicit a romantic connection inspired by the golden era of
alternative rock; a shared response to a teenage soundtrack of epic, emotionally charged mid-nineties music.

Released in March 2011, their ambitious debut Passive Me, Aggressive You featured singles Young Blood and Punching In A Dream. Lauded by
NME, it was a 'classic case of lovely and beautiful: TNAF's passive melodicism and aggressive innovation clash in a dazzling blaze of psych/sonic
fireworks and Rolling Stone magazine described Young Blood as one of the year's best singles. Fronted by Alisa Xayalith and Thom Powers, The
Naked And Famous lit a fire under an online fan base, with a video subculture built through YouTube and into radio. M83 invited TNAF to remix a single
and a Tiesto remix transformed Young Blood into a club smash. Agencies fell into The Naked and Famous slipstream, and theirs became the go-to
soundtrack for gaming, Hollywood and TV shows mining a zeitgeist of young and interesting.

By June 2012, the New Zealand quintet had played to more than 600,000 people in 24 countries, but the band chose to hit pause and embark on a
second album. The resulting album, In Rolling Waves, delivers darkly nuanced, intricately rocking electro gems once again born in bedroom studio
sessions, then demoed in studios in Wales and Australia ahead of recording at Sunset Sound in Hollywood.

Thom Powers sought out Alan Moulder (NIN, Foals, My Bloody Valentine) to mix this daydreaming dark-wave experiment. In 2013, The Naked And
Famous are matured and determined to deliver new music to their fans as soon as possible.

    African Piano

South African pianist-composer Abdullah Ibrahim, still performing at the time of this 1969 live album under the pseudonym Dollar Brand, unleashed a mastery so enticing on African Piano, it's a wonder that any of the folks at the club where it was recorded had the resolve to treat it as background to their dining. By the same token, reinforcement of that fact by constant ambient noises renders Ibrahim's performance all the more sacred by contrast.

Amid a sea of chatter, cleared throats, and sudden intakes of breath, he breaks the surf with the gentle yet hip ostinato of "Bra Joe From Kilimanjaro," working meditative tendrils into the bar light. Over this his right hand brings about an explosive sort of thinking that spins webs in a flash and connects them to larger others. With clarion fortitude, he drops bluesy accents along the way: a trail of crumbs leading to "Selby That The Eternal Spirit Is The Only Reality." Ironically (or not), this is the most solemn blip on the album's radar and blends into the ivory tickling of "The Moon." Here Ibrahim's heartfelt, dedicatory spirit comes to the fore, proving that, while technically proficient, he possesses a descriptive virtuosity that indeed evokes a pockmarked surface lit in various phases, harnessing sunlight as if it were skin in dense, vibrating harvest. The kinesis of this tune is diffused in the tailwind of "Xaba," which then flows into "Sunset In Blue," in which Ibrahim's ancestral awareness is clearest. The level of respect evoked here for both the dead and the living lends a ritualistic quality by virtue of its tight structuring, which despite hooks at the margins flies freely in its magic circle. "Kippy" is a smoother reverie with flickers of flame. A beautiful amalgam of measures and means, it slips an opiate of reflection into its own drink. After this, the intense two minutes of gospel and downward spirals that is "Jabulani-Easter Joy" takes us into "Tintinyana," thereby crystallizing the album's flowing energies. Tracks bleed into one another: they runneth from the same cup, their spiritual resonance deep and true.

African Piano is a gorgeous, thickly settled album, but one that is always transparent when it comes to origins. Such is the tenderness of Ibrahim's craft, which speaks with a respect that transcends the sinews, muscles, and eardrums required to bring it to life. It finds joy in history, connecting to it like an Avatar's tail to steed.

    Amphetamine Ballads

At a time when most of what passes for alternative rock sounds desiccated,
Amphetamine Ballads feels raw and potent and alive."
    - The Guardian

"The Amazing Snakeheads' debut album Amphetamine Ballads is not for prissy pants, it
growls and grimaces across filthy blues like a pub fight in Nashville."
    - Noisey

"Amphetamine Ballads showcases a group with good taste, and the ability to cook up
an adrenalised racket or a melancholy fog. [ ] As long as boring bands exist, this kind of
piss and vinegar will always be welcome."
    - NME

Domino Records is proud to present Amphetamine Ballads, the debut album from
Glasgow's The Amazing Snakeheads. A monument to
the redemptive powers of rock 'n' roll - full of rage, romance and dark humor -
Amphetamine Ballads is an uncompromising, astonishingly visceral debut album. On
the strength of early singles and their live shows, The Amazing Snakeheads have
established themselves as a force of nature not to be reckoned with and one of the most
promising rock 'n' roll bands to come out of the UK in ages.

Hailing from Glasgow, Scotland the Amazing Snakeheads - Dale Barclay, William
Coombe & Jordan Hutchison - look like they sound: all pomade, shades, denim,
leather and signet rings. Amphetamine Ballads is the soundtrack to the dark corners
of nightclubs and those dimly lit alleyways off the main drag. The smell of smoke
and liquor pervades everything. Recorded at night time at The Green Door Studio in
Glasgow, this is a subterranean record - an album that can show you round the parts of
a city that come alive after dark.

The Amazing Snakeheads never really formed as such - their conception seemingly
    more preordained than planned. Dale and William had been friends since childhood;
Jordan was Dale's neighbor who became a close friend. While they each played music,
they never really harboured ambitions to play in bands - the prospect of aiming high
and missing was almost enough to put the trio off even trying. When the band finally
got together and started playing shows, their shows quickly gained an infamous
reputation. On stage, Dale appears possessed by music, rock'n'roll channeled through
every sinew in his body. Announcing themselves in the summer of 2013 with a one-off
7", a ferocious 84-second long strut called "Testifying Time," the band's reputation was
quickly solidified. And now with Amphetamine Ballads set for release this summer, The
Amazing Snakeheads will deliver on the promise on those live shows and early singles!

A Few Small Repairs is Shawn Colvin's fourth album. It was released on October 1, 1996. A Few Small Repairs is a concept album about divorce, as Shawn Colvin's marriage was ending. At the time of the album's release, she had relocated to Austin, Texas. The biggest single off the album was Sunny Came Home, which was released in 1997. The cover of this album is a painting by Colvin's friend Julie Speed of a three-eyed woman with a lit match which inspired the song. The song peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 7, and topped the Adult Contemporary, Adult Top 40, and Top 40 Adult Recurrents charts the same year. Another notable song off the album was Nothin' on Me, which peaked at number 24 on Billboard's Adult Top 40 chart. The song was also used on Suddenly Susan as its theme song from 1997 to 2000.

Grammy success came to Colvin two years after the release of A Few Small Repairs. In the 1997 Grammy Awards, she was nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance award for Get Out of This House and Best Pop Album for A Few Small Repairs. At the next year's Grammy Awards, Colvin was nominated for Song of the Year and Record of the Year for Sunny Came Home. She won both awards (sharing Song of the Year with Leventhal). Overall, A Few Small Repairs made it to number 39 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.

Born in Vermilion, South Dakota and raised in part in Illinois and Ontario, Shawn Colvin was already a well-traveled and seasoned performer by the time she won her first Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album with her debut Steady On in 1989. In the decades since, Colvin has released a string of superlative albums and established an enduring reputation as one of America's great live performers. Her lasting appeal is due in part to her willingness to lay herself bare coupled with a dry wit.
