Released in early 1972, slightly more than three months after guitarist Duane Allman died in a motorcycle accident, the double album honors the musician via sides he recorded in the studio as well as several live performances that didn't fit on the mammoth At Fillmore East. The Allman Brothers Band, determined to press on, also contributes a trio of songs completed after their soulmate's passing. Its execution is near perfect, its concept timeless.

Not only is the punch of the concert fare transmitted with full-range dynamics and realistic spaciousness, but the studio cuts-in particular, the acoustically framed "Melissa" and "Little Martha"-come through with astounding clarity and body, replete with textural richness that affords listeners images of fingers on frets and sticks hitting drum skins.
In all probability, the Allman Brothers Band would've leapt to the fore of music's commercial and critical elite had it not been for Duane's fateful motorcycle accident that altered history and the trajectory of the group's course. A statement of purpose and homage, Eat a Peach extends the guitarist's legacy in the form of three heart-racing live tunes recorded at Fillmore East, none more important than the nearly 34-minute harmonic showcase "Mountain Jam." Begun at the end of "Whipping Post" during the final show of the group's four-gig stand, the tour de force improvisation finds the band at the peak of its telepathic aural and communicative capacities.
Not that the three studio originals with Duane are by any means forgettable. "Blue Sky" epitomizes the gorgeously elegant colors with which the late virtuoso could paint while the heart-stopping sentimental feel of "Little Martha" finds just he and Dickey Betts engaged in spiritual communion. To this extent, the band continues a mellower vibe on the hit "Melissa," a country-rock ballad that taps into a melancholy feel largely courtesy of Gregg Allman's weary vulnerability and Betts' lyrical, slap-back-echoing guitar lines.
Yet nothing here eclipses the direct meaning and steadfast intent of the record-opening "Ain't Wastin' Time No More," a defiant showing of unity and understated anthem with which the band seemed to embrace as a motto. No one knew, however, that fate would again subvert the group's plans even if it could never take away the magic held within Eat a Peach, sonic and lyrical sorcery that extends to the legendary gatefold-artwork mural.

Fillmore East 2-11-69Live at the Fillmore East 2-11-69 is a double live album by the Grateful Dead recorded during the Live/Dead tour on February 11, 1969 at the Fillmore East in New York City.
Performing two hour-long sets as the opening act to Janis Joplin's New York debut as a solo star, the Grateful Dead turned in a characteristic performance for this period in their career. In between the release of their second and third albums, they devoted much time to the songs that would turn up several months later on Aoxomoxoa, including acoustic renditions of Dupree's Diamond Blues and Mountains of the Moon. Pigpen dominated the first set, singing the blues standards Good Morning Little Schoolgirl, I'm a King Bee, and Turn on Your Lovelight. But a large part of both sets was given over to the group's extended medleys, in the first set Cryptical Envelopment/The Other One, in the second Dark Star/St. Stephen/The Eleven. These involved, largely instrumental pieces set the tone for the Dead at the end of the '60s and produced their breakthrough with Live/Dead, which was recorded within weeks of this show. There is also a game version of Hey Jude, the biggest hit of the previous year, to end the first set, and an unlisted, interrupted performance of Cosmic Charlie as a second-set encore.1. On October 4th and 5th, 1968, shortly after the release of the band's third album Life, Sly & The Family Stone took the stage at Bill Graham's legendary Fillmore East in New York City. There are live albums, and then there are definitive live albums from the classic rock era which were events on their release. Johnny Winter And Live is one of those rare releases. The UnionThe Union is the highly anticipated collaborative album from Elton John and Leon Russell and it's the first time these iconic artists have worked together since 1970. Produced by Oscar and multiple-Grammy winning producer T Bone Burnett, The Union was recorded live in the studio with Elton and Leon on dueling pianos. The album features a variety of musical genres from R&B, soul, gospel, country, pop and rock. The 14-track set includes selections written by Elton and his lifelong lyricist Bernie Taupin, as well as the combined incomparable songwriting team encompassing Leon, Elton, Bernie and T Bone.
Leon first met Elton in 1970 when he attended Eltons first ever U.S. show at the famous Troubadour in Los Angeles. The meeting heralded the beginning of a long friendship and a mutual appreciation between the two artists. In the late 60s and early 70s, the one piano player and vocalist who influenced me more than anybody else was Leon Russell, Elton said. He was my idol. The pair went on to tour together shortly thereafter at New Yorks Fillmore East and to this day have held such high admiration for each others work.

Forest Flower (Speakers Corner)It was a clever move by George Avakian, producer at Atlantic Records, to record live the Charles Lloyd Quartet during their appearance in Monterey, and to release the LP under the title Forest Flower. Although the hippy flower-power movement tended towards a rather different musical genre at the end of the Sixties, they were blown away by this music. The four artists attracted masses of people and ensured that every seat was taken and all standing room filled at jazz festivals such as Newport, Molde (Norway), Antibes (France) and the Fillmore East and West. The super group also appeared in Monterey, 120 Km south of San Francisco, the centre of the hippy movement, on 18 September 1966.
On the LP we have the almost 18-minute-long title piece and the standard work East Of The Sun, which were recorded at the festival. The disc is complemented by a Keith Jarrett composition and one by Cecil McBee, both of which were recorded in the studio ten days before the festival.
Of particular note is the rich interplay, the energy that is palpable throughout, the perfect harmony in each and every change of mood, and the intensity. Even 50 years later, it is quite clear that Charles Lloyd managed to break down the barriers between pop and jazz.
Charles Lloyd is committed to this objective to this very day! All four musicians are still active, although they no longer appear together as a group. Such a special treat for the ears is offered by this newly mastered disc only

About Speakers Corner
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.
We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.
We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

Amazingly, the set came together under less-than-ideal conditions. In the months leading up to the seven 1977 Washington D.C. and London concerts that were taped for the record, leader Lowell George had removed himself from the bands affairs. The chemistry was fractured, but the shows functioned as a molding agent. And did Little Feat ever respond. With every member of the sextet playing like their life depended on it, and a guest appearance by ex-Rolling Stone Mick Taylor, this is a must-have set.
