    How Will The Wolf Survive?

Produced by T-Bone Burnett, the major breakthrough of Los Lobos' How Will The Wolf Survive? was a launching pad for the tried & true sound of these Latin American musical heroes. Honing their craft in '70s L.A. by doing loads of weddings and dance gigs, they incorporated Rock into their Mexican sound which resulted in a Pop staple of legendary proportions. The band switch easily between Rockers like "Don't Worry Baby" and "A Matter Of Time" and modern Mexican evergreens "Corrida #1" and "Serenata Norteña".

    Gates of Gold

After celebrating their 40th anniversary with the 2013 live album Disconnected In New York City, the hard working, constantly touring band, Los Lobos - David Hidalgo, Louie Perez, Cesar Rosas, Conrad Lozano and Steve Berlin - leaps headfirst into their fifth decade with Gates of Gold, their first full length studio album since 2010's Tin Can Trust (a Grammy nominee for Best Americana Album).

The dynamic songwriting, deeply poetic lyrics, thoughtful romantic and spiritual themes and eclectic blend of styles on the 11 track collection has resulted in an American saga in the rich literary tradition of legendary authors John Steinbeck and William Faulkner.

The album is released over 30 years after Los Lobos' major label breakthrough How Will The Wolf Survive? - their 1984 album that ranks #30 on Rolling Stones list of the 100 greatest albums of the 1980s. Three decades, two more Grammys, the global success of La Bamba and thousands of rollicking performances across the globe later, Los Lobos is surviving quite well - and still jamming with the same raw intensity as they had when they began in that garage in 1973.

    Tin Can Trust

Tin Can Trust is Los Lobos' first collection of new original material in four years. The Grammy-winning East L.A. band's lineup has remained uninterrupted since 1984, when saxophonist/keyboardist Steve Berlin joined original members Louie PÉrez (guitar, drums, vocals), David Hidalgo (guitar, violin, accordion, percussion, vocals), Cesar Rosas (guitar, vocals) and Conrad Lozano (bass, vocals). Seven songs on the album are distinguished and genius Hidalgo-PÉrez collaborations, including the opening track "I'll Burn It Down," (featuring Susan Tedeschi). Three others were written in whole or in part by Rosas - including the album's two Spanish-language numbers: the cumbia "Yo Canto" and the norteño "Mujer Ingrata" - and display Los Lobos' signature seamless infusion of Mexican folk songs into rock music. Also included in Tin Can Trust - a cover of the Grateful Dead's "West L.A. Fadeaway" - offering a nod to the bands' shared history that extends back into the 1980s when the Angelenos befriended and opened shows for their northern peers. They will be touring the second half of the summer away into the fall. In a gatefold cover.

    Kiko

Kiko on Numbered Limited Edition 180 Gram LP from Mobile Fidelity

Distinguished Band's Ambitious 1992 Album Stands as Peak Moment in a Career Filled With High-Water Marks

Gloriously Multidimensional Sonics Yield Colorful Quilt of Textures and Subtleties: Mobile Fidelity Reissue Exposes Use of Studio as an Instrument

Rollicking Blues, Cabaret Jazz, Otherworldly Lullabies, Snarling Rock, and More Fill Landmark Set

Only a few years removed from breaking through with their cover of Ritchie Valens' "La Bamba," Los Lobos turned even more heads with Kiko, a beautifully textured and flawlessly executed musical statement that reveals the group taking on ambitious musical challenges and surmounting every one. In pairing with producer Mitchell Froom, the band yielded this critically acclaimed 1992 set that remains the apex of its distinguished career.

Mastered from original master tapes, Mobile Fidelity's 180 gram LP version of Kiko presents the record in previously unimaginable fidelity. In particular, Froom's exquisite production can now be experienced in full relief, with the vintage tape-loop keyboards and spare arrangements yielding an ethereal feel, otherworldly ambience, and colorful finish that complement the ace playing. The subtleties of the richly detailed backdrops-splashed with distortion, feedback, random sound effects, sonorous horns, ominous chants, delicately plucked harps-are greatly enhanced, turning the multifaceted Kiko into the aural equivalent of a sensational IMAX presentation.

The material, too, ravishes the senses. In Rolling Stone's original review of Kiko, David Okamoto remarks "the music sounds more created than contrived, thanks to the compassionate touch of the group's main songwriters, singer-guitarist David Hidalgo and drummer Louis PÉrez." Indeed, the Los Angeles ensemble tackles tough-minded social issues such as alcoholism, suicide, abuse, homelessness, death, and rape without coming across as preachy or melodramatic. The record's power relates to that possessed by the most timeless albums-the emotional and metaphysical capacities to transcend problems, overcome adversity, and deliver catharsis.

Spanning rollicking blues and dreamy pop balladry to snarling rock and traditional Mexican-inspired waltzes, Kiko seemingly knows no bounds. Lullabies such as "Saint Behind the Glass" claim mellifluous elegance while the cabaret-laced jazz of work like "Kiko and the Lavender Moon" glows with a dark majesty, thanks to both the skilled performance and Froom's illuminating production. Los Lobos seldom, if ever, drifted so far outside of the roots-rock box as they do on Kiko. And yet, the collective's binding connection to folklore remains in tact. Native American, Hispanic, and Catholic elements surface in the lyrics and arrangements, the characteristics expressing a multicultural reach that parallels the songs' multidimensional construction.

And still, it remains impossible to ignore the use of the studio as the record's secret-weapon instrument. Imaginative tricks such as noise gates, filters, and psychedelic devices help establish a surrealism that never lets up. Neither does Kiko.

By The Light Of The Moon

Mastered from the original master tapes, Mobile Fidelity's numbered limited edition 180g LP brings these 11 songs to life and out of the clouded, foggy sonic environment in which they've remained for more than two decades. For the first time, T Bone Burnett's stripped-back production functions as it should. Namely, Los Lobos sound as if they're playing at a small, sweaty neighborhood joint late on a Sunday night for an audience of locals, friends, and family.

The group's uncanny ability to switch between instruments and effortlessly play each as if it's their innate right-listen to the seamless fashion in which electric and acoustic guitars, marimbas, organs, saxophones, harmonicas, and percussion create strikingly memorable soundscapes-comes to light amidst a warmer, airier, more organic and deep-black background.David Hidalgo's sweet, honeysuckle timbre, he and Cesar Rosas' overlapping tremolo guitars, and stacks of interwoven rhythms jump with vibrant electricity.

Shifting into storytelling mode, Los Lobos use By the Light of the Moon as an opportunity to meditate on everyday America and channel the fate of normal communities. Issues of faith, mortality, love, disillusionment, and melancholy inform narratives that are on the same socially conscious level as those of period-era Bruce Springsteen and John Mellencamp. As for the songs, they crackle, waltz, shuffle, dance, tremble, and kick. The band almost dares listeners not to care.

Whether leaning into twangy two-step country-rock ("One Night In America"), dual-guitar shootout rockabilly ("Shakin' Shakin' Shakes"), swinging jump R&B ("Is This All There Is?"), tequila-spiked East Los Angeles-style rock ("Set Me Free (Rosa Lee)"), searing Latin-tinged blues ("My Baby's Gone"), or poignant gospel-lined folk ("River of Fools"), Los Lobos' Tex-Mex gumbo continually impresses and delights.

Don't pass up one of the best releases of the 1980s and one of Los Lobos' definitive statements. You'll never hear a better pressing. Boleros, rancheros, and more await!

    Lies & Wishes

Edward David Anderson is an artist as ancient as he is modern. In a time when the music business desperately flails about, grasping at any new trend that will save its sinking ship, he exists far beyond its confines. Best known for his work with the revered Midwestern rock band Backyard Tire Fire who released a string of acclaimed albums in the previous decade, Anderson returns to the national stage with his highly anticipated solo debut, Lies & Wishes. Produced by Los Lobos' Steve Berlin, it finds Anderson creating his own mythology through a collection of songs that embrace vulnerability, while remaining grounded in his working class roots. Anderson sings, I'm the son of a plumber, from a God fearing mother. The lyric says much about where his story begins as an artist. He was born and raised just west of Chicago and lives a simple life, spending winters in an RV alongside the Gulf of Mexico in lower Alabama. Anderson's an American songwriter on an existential quest who seeks and who searches through song.

I feel like every experience, every mile, every interaction, every tune, sort of got me to where I am at this moment, Anderson recounts while shedding light on the over-arching theme that ties together the 10-track collection. The songs on the record are confessional by nature. They are songs about loss and love and living and hope. Halfway through my life, it's an honest look in the mirror.

Anderson's journey over the last five years and his response to the challenges he faced is what sets the lifers apart from those that concede the artistic pursuit. The dissolution of Backyard Tire in 2011 was the first obstacle to overcome. The band had built a devout cult following around the U.S., counting Cracker, Reverend Horton Heat and Clutch among their fans, all of whom took BTF on the road exposing them to a wider audience. It was around this time that Steve Berlin of Los Lobos was first drawn to Anderson's songwriting.

"Backyard Tire Fire opened a show for us and I remember being backstage and listening to their music and I was like, 'Wow, that song sounds really familiar. Whose cover is that? It's a classic tune,'" says Berlin. "It turns out that they were all Ed's originals. They just had that instantly memorable quality to them. So, I introduced myself at the show and we became buddies and then collaborators. Ed's music is so evocative, so well written. I honestly think he is as talented as anyone in the songwriting world and it is important that he be heard."

Anderson adds: I was just starting to get back on the road again after Tire Fire split, touring with my friend Johnny Hickman and I got inspired to get back in the studio. I had these songs and had something pretty interesting to say based on the experiences I just went through. I knew if I could get Steve Berlin involved, who is an old friend that I've worked with in the past, it could be something special."

It was just prior to this that Anderson's mother passed away, while the previous winter his wife lost her mother, both to extended illnesses. It was a defining moment for the 40-year old artist and culminated in a torrent of songwriting. Indeed, songs like Lies & Wishes Lost & Found and Chain Reaction delve deep into the human condition, asking difficult questions of both himself and his loved ones.

"A lot of the subject matter on this record came from reflecting on these painful experiences" says Anderson. After losing my mom, I decided I've got to make a record and dedicate it to her and make a statement here on my own.

Musically speaking, the core of Lies & Wishes is built around refined melodies, acoustic guitars and sparse arrangements, yet Berlin's production colors the tracks with squalls of electric guitar, affected vocals, drum loops and assorted analog keyboard flourishes. It should also be noted that fans of Anderson's vintage rock and roll songwriting from his Backyard Tire Fire days will find plenty to love on tunes like "Nothing Lasts Forever," "Taking It Out On You" and "The Next Melody," which deliver the big hooks and classic refrains on which he so effortlessly hangs his hat.

This is where we find Edward David Anderson today. His heart's on his sleeve and it's that of an artist. Nobody ever said it was going to be easy, but as the songs on Lies & Wishes bare out, when the muse calls, he will be there to answer.

I needed to make this album, he concludes. I feel like it's undoubtedly my finest work to date, the beginning of the next chapter for me.

The album was recorded quickly and spontaneously in Nashville, Tennessee with an impressive cast of characters that include Chris Scruggs, Steve Berlin (Los Lobos), John McCauley (Deer Tick), and Mickey Raphael (Willie Nelson). As a songwriter, Jonah bridges the gap between classic folk self-sufficiency and punk's DIY defiance; he plays everything from roots and Americana music to old time folk and acoustic blues.

    Sugar

Twenty years after the release of G. Love and Special Sauce's debut album, the original lineup of the revered hip-hop blues trio is back together for a new
album, Sugar, and an extensive U.S. tour.

I had a good idea for a riff off an old hip hop sample which I changed up, flipped upside down and played with a slide guitar, G. Love says about the first
single Nothing Quite Like Home. We cut the song live with the trio at Brushfire in L.A and added the 'B' section and drum break. I had been talking to Dan
Reynolds from Imagine Dragons earlier in the summer about working on something and I sent him the instrumental we cut. He penned the lyrics and sent
back a real tight demo over the instrumental. Later I added my vocals and got a helping hand from two of my favorite singers -- Ben Harper, who just
brought the chorus to another level, and Marc Broussard, who added some nice backgrounds.

SUGAR reunites G. Love, upright bassist James Jimi Jazz Prescott and drummer Jeffrey The Houseman Clemens for the first time in eight years.
Tracked largely at Brushfire Records' Solar Powered Plastic Plant studio in L.A, the disc also features Los Lobos guitarist David Hidalgo, current Oscar
nominee Merry Clayton - best known for her duet with Mick Jagger on the Rolling Stones' Gimme Shelter - and others.

    Salvation Town

    Limited Audiophile Pressing by RTI

    Deluxe Gatefold Package

Salvation Town, the surprising and powerful solo debut by Jonny Two Bags,
guitarist for the Southern California punk rock institution Social Distortion,
defies expectations at every turn. Produced by David Kalish, noted for his long
association with Rickie Lee Jones, at his Redstar Studio in Los Angeles, the
album features 10 striking original songs written by Jonny Two Bags, a.k.a.
    Jonny Wickersham.

A diverse array of talent that spans the musical spectrum
was enlisted for the recording. Jackson Browne shares vocals with Wickersham
on "Then You Stand Alone," while David Lindley, whose guitar work graced
several of Browne's classic '70s albums, contributes to four tracks. Los Lobos'
multi-instrumentalist David Hidalgo and his sons David Jr. and Vincent join in
on "Wayward Cain" and super-sideman Greg Leisz (Lucinda Williams, Eric
Clapton, k.d. lang, Dave Alvin) also appears on guitar. The drum chair is filled
by Pete Thomas, a mainstay of Elvis Costello's bands. Wickersham's colleagues in Social Distortion, keyboardist Danny McGough
and bassist Brent Harding, join on a few tracks while Austin accordion luminary Joel Guzman and bassist/punk kingpin Zander
Schloss (Weirdos, Circle Jerks, Thelonious Monster) round out the lineup.

    Cosmetics

With a big rhythm section and melodies that expand to take in influences including 1950s country music and 1960s British-Invasion rock, Diamond Rugs is a band that's determined to avoid easy category, a consistent point of view or even a signature sound. -- NPR

Diamond Rugs emerge from their first full-length effort as a cohesive, spirited country-punk collective that brings out the best in each member. -- Paste

In rock journalism, the term supergroup is often doled out a little too easy. But Diamond Rugs fit the bill in the most valiant ways - Deer Tick's John McCauley & Robbie Crowell, former Black Lips guitarist Ian St. PÉ, Dead Confederate's T. Hardy Morris, Los Lobos' Steve Berlin and Six Finger Satellite's Bryan Dufresne.

On the band's new sophomore LP, Cosmetics, each musician maintains the distinct personality you loved about 'em in the first place, while at the same time locking in like puzzle pieces, feeding off each other in a way that'd make most full-time bands jealous as hell, and leaving in their wake a breezy, wide-open, unpretentious set of rock & roll songs that beg you to dance your ass off.

    Trigger Hippy

Trigger Hippy is a rock band with jam & R&B elements formed by Black Crowes drummer and co-founder Steve Gorman. Multi-platinum recording artist
Joan Osborne - of the Tope 5 single "One Of Us." Also spent time singing for The Dead. Singer-guitarist-keyboardist Jackie Greene who joined The Black
Crowes in later years and also spent time with Phil Lesh & Friends, Gov't Mule, Los Lobos, Taj Mahal, Susan Tedeschi as well as a host of others. Award-winning session players Tom Bukovac (Guitarist) and Nick Govrik (Bassist.)

You can see this as a 'player's band', explains co-founder Steve Gorman, who also co-founded The Black Crowes, but it really is a band, in the true
sense of that word. Vocals are shared by multi-platinum singer Joan Osborne and veteran recording artist Jackie Greene. Rounding out the band are
lead guitarist Tom Bukovac and bassist Nick Govrik, who wrote many of the band's songs.

The Nashville-based quintet's debut album on Rounder Records draws on the strengths of all five, both individually and collectively, and showcases
influences and inspiration from Memphis soul to rock, country and blues. One can sense The Band here, and Little Feat, some Led Zeppelin, and a tent
revival; a full palette. Gorman rightly calls it a rock band that can jam.

The album was recorded primarily at the prestigious Blackbird Studio with some of the greatest Nashville musicians, including bassists Michael Rhodes and Tom MacDonald, guitarist Rob McNelley, and keyboard player Reese Wynans, a veteran ofStevie Ray Vaughan's Double Trouble.

Beginning his career at age 3, Quinn, who is currently a high school student, has shared the stage with Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Los Lobos, The Roots, Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi and Joe Bonamassa, and also opened for B.B. Mo Beauty

Mo Beauty is the debut solo release from celebrated singer/songwriter Alec Ounsworth, who earned acclaim with his band Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. The album was produced by veteran musician/producer and fellow Philadelphia native Steve Berlin (Los Lobos, Blasters, John Lee Hooker, The Replacements), who initially suggested a New Orleans setting for recording. Working with some of the city's most storied musicians, including George Porter of The Meters on bass, Ounsworth has crafted a collection of songs that pick up where Clap Your Hands Say Yeah leave off. Mo Beauty carries on the band's vein of quirky humor, unabashed melody, and sonic experimentation, but with the weight of New Orleans and its history hovering over the recording, Ounsworth has dug deep on songs like Holy, Holy, Holy Moses (song for New Orleans), while tracks like South Philadelphia groove in a whole new way.

Mo Beauty features George Porter, Jr. on bass, Stanton Moore on drums, Robert Walter on keys, and Matt Sutton on baritone and pedal-steel guitars, with additional help from members of the talented New Orleans community.

W/ CD version of the album included.

The maturation of the Black Keys as record makers and performers has been both subtle and startling. With their 2008 Nonesuch release Attack & Release, the fifth album of their eight-year career which doubled the sales of their previous album and Nonesuch debut Magic Potion, guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney illustrated the durability of their few-frills sound, a mysterious and heavy brew of '70s-vintage rock, classic R&B and timeless, downhearted blues. Producer and pal Danger Mouse, their first outside collaborator, didn't try to reinvent their sound but further isolated its essence with the help of a few carefully chosen guest players and some retro-modern electronic gear. It didn't need to get slicker to get better, or, as the Boston Globe put it, Attack & Release proves that cleaning up the boys still won't stop them from tracking mud all over the house.

Danger Mouse returned to co-produce Tighten Up on Brothers, but for the most part, the duo was on its own, spending ten days at the legendary Muscle Shoals studio in Alabama and coming up with the an even more intensely focused, deeply soulful set that includes a cover of Jerry Butler's Never Gonna Give You Up. The performances are inventive and impassioned: Auerbach extends his vocal range to falsetto on lead-off track Everlasting Light and The Only One; Howlin' For You opens with a Gary Glitter-style drum riff and the chorus practically invites singing along. The tunes offer a surprising amount of lyrical candor and more than a little dark humor; the grooves alternate between ballsy swagger and bluesy rumination. The album reflects where Auerbach and Carney have been lately, most recently collaborating with a who's who of New York City MC's, including RZA, Q Tip, Mos Def and Raekwon on the 2009 BlakRocBlack Keys fan Damon Dash. They've also pursued projects on their own, Auerbach with his solo Keep It Hid album and tour, Carney with his band Drummer and its debut disc, Feels Good Together. Their maturation didn't happen just in the studio, though. Carney admits, Dan and I grew up a lot as individuals and musicians prior to making this album. Our relationship was tested in many ways but at the end of the day, we're brothers, and I think these songs reflect that. super-session organized by hip-hop impresario and

Brothers was primarily cut in Muscle Shoals, a setting that turned out to have more in common with the Akron, Ohio factories where the Black Keys used to record. The place was desolate, the town depressed, so once again the duo slipped into a world all its own. They did additional recording at Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound System in Akron and The Bunker in Brooklyn. The album was mixed by engineer Tchad Blake, a veteran of sessions with Los Lobos, Pearl Jam and Peter Gabriel. Says Carney, The way he approaches mixing is the same way we approach making music. The Phoenix And The Turtle

April 2014 will see the release of her new album entitled The Phoenix and the Turtle. Described by Beverley as a very personal album, it features songs written throughout her entire career, from her very first song, ''Sweet Joy'', to the previously unrecorded Nick Drake & Beverley Martyn song ''Reckless Jane'' which was started in 1974 when Drake lived nearby Beverley in Hampstead. ''We started writing the song as a bit of a joke,'' she says, ''When John and I lived in Hampstead Nick lived one stop down the tube line, and he would come around and babysit sometimes. I couldn't look at it for a long time after he died, but then finally I decided to finish it.''

''When The Levee Breaks' and 'Going To Germany' are songs Beverley used to sing with The Levee Breakers. Another song, 'Women And Malt Whiskey' is, in part, about John Martyn and other friends from the scene back then.

The Phoenix and the Turtle is Beverley's first album in fourteen years and was recorded in Wales with guitarist and producer Mark Pavey; it also features contributions from bass player Matt Malley, ex-Counting Crows and drummer Victor Bisetti, ex-Los Lobos which were recorded ''by the magic of computer'' in California. The album ''still has that in-a-room feel,'' said Beverley recently, ''it sounds like an old style analogue record. It's very me, very transatlantic.''

    Born Free (Out Of Stock)

    Includes CD

Kid Rock's 8th studio album, Born Free was produced by Rick Rubin and mixed by Greg Fidelman. The album is in many ways a transformational album for Kid Rock. While there is still the edge, wit and swagger of previous albums, he doesn't rap, there's no metal and there isn't even a parental warning sticker.

Says Kid Rock, The catalyst for this record was Detroit, and my thoughts on the world through the lens of Detroit. Watching everything go downhill over the past few years, the economy, the loss of jobs everywhere, I wanted to make a record that reflected the times but that still had soul.

The bulk of the album was recorded live in a two week span in Los Angeles with a stellar cast of musicians including Heartbreaker Benmont Tench, Red Hot Chili Pepper Chad Smith, David Hidalgo from Los Lobos and Chavez guitarist Matt Sweeney. Studios in Detroit, Nashville and Atlanta were used to incorporate collaborations with Bob Seger, Sheryl Crow, Zac Brown, Trace Adkins and in a pairing surely never to be replicated, T.I. and Martina McBride on the track Care.

Kid Rock and Rick Rubin, as friends, have spent many hours talking about their respective histories, starting in hip-hop, crossing into and creating new territories, as well as the need for a great new American classic rock record that challenges the field. Born Free is in part the result of those conversations, an album that is meant to be played from start to finish.

Reminiscent of the great Rickie Lee Jones, the fresh voice and stream of consciousness story telling of Lorna Hunt grabbed Classic's attention in 1998 and the results on this 2LP set surely show you why. Production notes:

Clarity Vinyl represents the ultimate in vinyl formulations because it is comprised of over 90% percentage of the highest quality co-polymer available - a key component in vinyl pellets used for manufacturing vinyl records. Further, Clarity Vinyl has no carbon black additive, common in vinyl formulas for LPs. Carbon Black contains trace metals that become magnetized and cause electrical distortions in cartridges during playback that smears the sound. By taking out the Carbon Black, Classic Records is able to dramatically reduce the electrical distortions and thus bring more Clarity to the playback process, providing a more realistic musical experience to the listener and LP enthusiast.
