Vocalist Mish Barber-Way, guitarist Kenneth William and drummer Anne-Marie Vassiliou, reconnected in Los Angeles to work with engineer and producer Lars Stalfors (HEALTH, Cold War Kids, Alice Glass). In October of 2015, White Lung spent a month in the studio, working closely with Stalfors to challenge what could be done with their songs. "I wanted it to sound new. Sticky Fingers, one of the most revered albums in the storied catalogue of the legendary Rolling Stones, is set to enthral a new generation of admirers. The 1971 classic - which captured the band at the absolute peak of their powers, on timeless tracks such as 'Brown Sugar,' 'Wild Horses,' 'Bitch,' 'Sister Morphine' and 'Dead Flowers'.
Sticky Fingers was recorded in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Stargroves, Mick's country home and Olympic Studios in London, and produced by regular confidant Jimmy Miller, Sticky Fingers was released shortly after the Stones became exiled in the south of France, leaving Britain after a sensational farewell tour. It also featured some of the most ground breaking artwork in rock history by Andy Warhol, with its famous working zip on the front cover.
Sticky Fingers has been repeatedly hailed as one of the Stones' all-time great albums, capturing their trademark combination of swagger and tenderness in a superb collection. It continued the incredible outpouring of creative energy that had produced 1968's Beggars Banquet and Let It Bleed in 1969. After Sticky Fingers, the Stones' relocation to the south of France led to the double album masterpiece Exile On Main St. The highly acclaimed Sticky Fingers showcased the ever more inventive song writing of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, and formidable guitar licks from Mick Taylor.
The Super Deluxe edition will also house Get Yer Leeds Lungs Out!, the 13-track audio recording of the Stones' gig in Leeds in March 1971, shortly before their 'exile' in France began. The set included versions of the just-completed 'Brown Sugar,' 'Bitch' and 'Dead Flowers,' one of their many authentic forays into country music territory.
The first sessions that led to Sticky Fingers took place as far back as December 1969, in the remote location of Muscle Shoals Sound Studios, Alabama. The band then reconvened, back home in the UK both at Olympic and with the Rolling Stones Mobile parked up at Mick Jagger's Stargroves home.
On April 23, 1971, 504 days after that first session in Alabama, Sticky Fingers was released, cheered on by media and public alike. "It is the latest beautiful chapter in the continuing story of the greatest rock group in the world," wrote Rolling Stone.7" Vinyl

"Music for Heart and Breath is a series of compositions that use involuntarily moving organs of the human body (specifically the lungs and the heart) as performance parameters. There are no time signatures: the tempos and rhythms are always governed by either the heart rates or the breathing rates of the individual players. In the case of the latter, the performers are instructed to play directly in sync with their own or another player's individual breathing (playing at the speed of their inhalations, their exhalations or both). To enable the players to hear and play in sync with their own heartbeats, they wear stethoscopes and, naturally, generally play quietly."

King BeeKing Bee is the final release by Blues legend Muddy Waters (born in 1913 as McKinley Morganfield), originally released in 1981 and produced by Johnny Winter. Due to Waters' failing health, the LP was recorded in only three days in May of 1980. The LP includes newly recorded Muddy Waters classics, such as I'm A King Bee, Champagne & Reefer, Sad Sad Day and (My Eyes) Keep Me In Trouble. Around the time of the album's release, Waters hit the road with a new band as much as his slowly declining health allowed him to.
By the end of 1981, he was diagnosed with lung cancer and had to have part of his lung removed. Still, in 1982 a new tour was booked but an increasing number of performances had to be canceled. And after having made a surprise appearance at an Eric Clapton concert in Miami that Summer, Waters found out the cancer had returned as he was coughing blood. Sadly, his body wasn't strong enough for another operation. On April 30, 1983 McKinley Morganfield died of a heart attack. Tyler Bryant And The ShakedownA Band On The Verge Of Rock N Roll Greatness!
After carving out a fervent fan base and drawing widespread critical applause with their heady, high-voltage brand of guitar-driven rock, shooting from both hip and heart, Nashville's Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown find themselves at the epicenter of an advanced rock 'n' roll adventure that continues to take them around the world, appearing at some of the biggest venues along the way
Starting with a guest spot on AC/DC's 'Rock or Bust' World Tour in 2016, the quartet - Caleb Crosby on drums, Noah Denney on bass and backing vocals, Graham Whitford on guitar and Texas-born Tyler himself on vocals and guitar, a musician immersed in blues music from an early age - have continued to share events and stages with some of rock's most legendary names, including Guns N' Roses, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Aerosmith, Deep Purple and ZZ Top.
At the same time as projecting their music into stadiums, Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown - The Shakedown to friends and fans - have continued to build their name and reputation as a headline act, and indeed it was backstage after a sold-out, bill-topping show in London (June 2017) that the band signed their new deal with Snakefarm Records - the most immediate and exciting result being an 11-track, self-titled studio album set to be the label's inaugural release, with November 3rd locked in as the day of the launch
"So many great things have happened over the past few months," exclaims Caleb, "and it's all just so surreal. I remember seeing that Guns N' Roses were playing two stadium shows in London on June 16th and 17th earlier this year, which are birthdays for Noah and myself, back to back, and I said wouldn't it be amazing if we appeared on both of those shows and we did!"
Rewinding back to 2008, Tyler moved to Nashville by himself at the ripe age of 17 to write songs and form a band. It was here he met Caleb, and together they put together what would become The Shakedown
"The instant we started playing, I knew there was something special," reflects Caleb. "We played our first show a week later and haven't stopped since!"
The next addition to the ranks was Graham Whitford, a young guitarist from Boston, Massachusetts. Introduced to Tyler as the guy who could put him out of a job, it was clear from the start that Whitford was a force to be reckoned with. As soon as Tyler heard him play, he asked him to uproot and move to Nashville to join the band.
All that was needed now was the right bassist: enter Noah Denney, who instantly added a whole new dimension to The Shakedown's sound. As Tyler recalls, "his bass sound scared me and he brought an edge and an attitude to the band that we didn't even know we needed."
2013's 'Wild Child' album announced the quartet's arrival with a bang as they logged time on the road with the likes of Aerosmith, Jeff Beck & ZZ Top, while receiving the endorsement of Guitar World, Rolling Stone, Los Angeles Times, Nylon, Interview Magazine and Paste. Taking over TV, they lit up the stage at both Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! and AXS Live.
Following the release of 'The Wayside' EP (2015, produced by Grammy Award winner Vance Powell), the boys crisscrossed the country alongside Billy Gibbons & AC/DC on that celebrated 2016 run. April 2017 found them without a label and only a month out from joining Guns N' Roses on a European tour
"We had just decided to self-produce a record completely on our own," says Tyler. "I'll never forget driving home that morning and getting a call from our manager saying, 'You wanna go back to Europe with Guns N Roses?' That was a great kick-start to the first day of tracking."
So they hunkered down and set about writing & recording their second full-length album, with John Fields (Soul Asylum, Paul Westerberg) coming on board to handle the mix. Blending a sense of history with a youthful, energetic heartbeat, this anticipated outing features a host of brand new tracks, some of which have become staples of the live set. It also stands as the start of a relationship with the newly-launched Snakefarm label.
Housed within the global infrastructure of Spinefarm Records (a UMG label), the Snakefarm brand will provide a targeted home for international artists, both established and new, from the increasingly buoyant roots rock world - music based on authenticity and emotion, under-pinned by core values and beliefs.
In this respect, Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown - who can lay claim to a fast-growing international presence, with major UK festivals such as Download, Ramblin' Man and British Summer Time already under their belt, alongside headline shows plus guest appearances with Nashville neighbors The Cadillac Three - are a flagship representation; what's more, in 'Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown' they've delivered a genuine genre-defying labour of love, a varied and infectious statement shot through with passion, pride and a welcome dash of glamour.
"This is the definitive Shakedown record as of now, and that's why we decided it should be self-titled," explains a fired-up Tyler. "It's the definitive Shakedown record due to the fact there were no other cooks in the kitchen. We put so much energy into writing and recording each song. It's not just a guitar album; it's a song album, and I'm proud to hang my hat on this one."
The first single / video, 'Heartland', introduces Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown with a one-two punch of gritty guitars and soulful vocals before slipping into a hypnotic bridge punctuated by airy clean guitars. Tyler sings, "There's a slow beat in the heartland, going down in the quicksand, stack 'em up and watch the cards fall, if it happens to one, then it happens to all".
"It's no secret that there's crazy stuff going on all over the world right now. There's madness all around and people are constantly picking sides. Every night when the Shakedown takes the stage, I'm amazed that music brings people together. Nobody is thinking about what side they're on when they're singing at the top of their lungs next to a complete stranger. I thought maybe through music I could remind myself and our TBSD family that when one person falls, the rest of us do, too. I wanna get together with a bunch of folks and sing that sentiment because it's one I strongly believe in.
Elsewhere, 'Backfire' struts along on a stomping drum groove driven by thick distortion with lyrics "about pulling the short end of the straw and feeling vengeful". Then there's 'Aftershock'. Hinging on hummable riffing, the track simmers at a steady swamp crawl before the Sabbathian refrain.
"That's a tune about feeling the effects of a situation long after it's come and gone.

Shadowed By VulturesPolar have been teasing us for 'Shadowed By Vultures' since the release of 'Glass Cutter' in October and 'Mountain Throne' earlier this week and it still isn't enough. This early on it is clear that 'Shadowed By Vultures' is one of the best things to come from 2014 already, Polar are always reliable for epic pit inducing, crowd chanting tracks but this full length has taken it to the next level. Polar have matured and developed bringing depth, musicianship and ingenuity to create a inspirational and remarkable album that will form an iconic place in their discography.
'Shadowed By Vultures' opens with 'First Breath' which immerses the listener in, calling them out with a dominating and prevalent riff heaving them to the forefront of the album. In 52 seconds we have already had all our attention drawn out by a tyrannical Polar calling card that preludes what is unleashed throughout the entire album. And they continue to dominate our ears with 'Blood Lines' pulling Woodford's vocals forward in an anthemic chorus, his vocals are one of Polar's unique points that through every rasp, growl and shout there is nothing but clarity, you can hear every word and shout it back.
First single 'Glass Cutter' premiered on Radio 1 in October and still stands out as one of the most influential tracks from 'Shadowed By Vultures'. The track ignites crowds and echoes out venues with 'I am the water that fills your lungs' and spurs images of people climbing over each other in frantic Polar induced fits. However, 'Before The Storm' then brings the full length to a hauntingly unexpected halt, the female vocals juxtaposing Woodford's rawr into an eloquent and fragile track that delves deeper into anything we could have expected. A longing, fervent track that commands notice among the destructive album as we go into the second single 'Mountain Throne'.
Within days of the video being posted fans have begged for the lyrics so they can sing them back. As guitars rise up and haul us through every breaking breath of the track you can see why 'Mountain Throne' has swept up fans all over the internet sitting behind their screens desperate to shout 'We are, we are condemned to be criminals!'. And Polar do not cease there as they rip into the neck breaking 'Vipers' which finds itself as another example of Polar's outstanding song writing before title track 'Shadowed By Vultures' that never relents. The track falls on intricate, resilient and winding riffs that form around unrelenting percussion. As instruments rile up in pauses into incessant uproars before piano keys fall in and we seamlessly find ourselves in 'Paradise' . The articulate and delicate track forms the most beautiful breather in such a hefty album allowing a moment of recollection before 'Create'.
If you didn't know 'Create' from their previous EP 'Inspire Create Destroy' then you don't know what Polar excellence you have been missing. Although they have clearly developed from their previous work 'Create' still commands every second of savage attention it deserves. If Polar don't have you chanting 'Inspire! Create! Destroy!' by the end of their set, you are definitely in the wrong place, or they have already broken you. As the album closes on 'Our Legacy' Polar unleash a rasping raw space before strings wind us into a frenzy that leaves us desperate to play the album again. TownesSteve Earle's new album, Townes is his highly anticipated follow up to the Grammy Award winning album Washington Square Serenade. The 15 song set is comprised of songs written by Earle's friend and mentor, the late singer-songwriter, Townes Van Zandt.
The songs selected for Townes were the ones that meant the most to Earle and the ones he personally connected to. Some of the selections chosen were songs that Earle has played his entire career (Pancho and Lefty, Lungs, White Freightliner Blues). He learned the song (Quicksilver Daydreams of) Maria directly from Van Zandt and taught himself Marie and Rake specifically to include here. Earle recorded the New York sessions solo and then added the other instruments later on in order to preserve the spirit of Van Zandt's original solo performances to the best of his recollection. The track Lungs, was produced and mixed by the Dust Brothers' John King and features Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine, The Nightwatchman) on electric guitar.

CaminandoAfter an exploration away from the mainstream of salsa that would last nearly ten years, beginning with the release of 1984's Buscando AmÉrica, RubÉn Blades fans who missed the coro-shouting, compana-banging fun of his Fania years will rejoice in Caminando. Though a contemporary release, with plenty of contemporary influence, Blades' playlist on this record is much more salsa than fusion. From the rollicking, joyful title cut, to the slinky, trombone-driven Colón-esque Prohibido Olvidar, the RubÉn Blades made famous in the dancehalls is back, if but for a short time. The production on Caminando is unique to other Blades productions. The treatment of his voice has a hollow, retro quality that is curious and yet charming. The band, comprised mostly of his recent Seis del Solar cohorts, Ralph Irizarry, Robby Ameen, Oscar Hernandez, Eddy Montalvo, and others, sounds warm and classic. Perhaps it is the tonality of the record, or maybe 1991 was a great year for writing, but nearly every selection features coros and hooks that are more top-of-the-lungs shoutable than anywhere else in the artist's huge catalog. Though Blades would soon return to the Latin fusion experimentation that would characterize the rest of his career, this brief return to the music that made him famous is pure gold.

Lungs, the first Big Black release was recorded by Steve on a borrowed 4-track. He played everything on the EP himself - except the sax bleating courtesy of pal John Bohnen and the drums courtesy of Roland. Soon after, Steve recruited Jeff Pezzati (Naked Raygun) on bass, and Santiago Durango (also Naked Raygun) joined them on guitar. In 1983, together with live drummer Pat Byrne, they recorded the Bulldozer EP. By 1984, the band had done some touring and recorded the Racer X EP and the start of the Il Duce 7". After that, Jeff returned to Naked Raygun and was replaced by Dave Riley. In 1985, Big Black recorded their first full-length, Atomizer, as well as finishing the Il Duce 7". Atomizer was released in 1986 along with the release of the Hammer Party compilation CD. In 1987, the Headache EP and Heartbeat 7" were released. broke up. To quote the album insert in Songs About Fucking:
"Hey, breaking up is an idea that has occurred to far too few
groups. Sometimes to the wrong ones."
When they broke up, Santiago Durango decided to go
to law school and is now a lawyer. While in law school, he released two EP's on Touch and Go Records as Arsenal. Steve
Albini went on to form Rapeman and then Shellac. He also

TravelsIf you've ever desired a Pat Metheny Group greatest hits album, then Travels is for you. Compiled from the group's touring activities in 1982, this double set is a must-have. From the glittering lotus of melody that is "San Lorenzo" to the even more effusive "Phase Dance," the requisite classics are all here. We also get a curtailed, though no less epic, version of "As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls," which here draws out like a long cinematic fade and throws the windows open wide to the band's boggling sonic purview. And one can hardly help but swoon from the dizzying heights reached by this live version of "Are You Going With Me?" Here the studio version seems but a memory on the path to glory, and finds exuberant life in what is perhaps Metheny's best solo on record. An absolute affirmation.
Yet the album's true value comes in the handful of songs exclusive to it. Through these we encounter softer sides of the PMG, each burnished like a different shade of leather. "The Fields, The Sky" is an outstanding place to start. Vasconcelos's unmistakable berimbau threads a supremely melodious backdrop, while Metheny is at once distant and nearby, winding a slow and organic retrograde around the fiery center within. Vasconcelos is also the voice of "Goodbye," a forlorn piece of sonic stationery across which Metheny inscribes a most heartbreaking letter toward a ripple of an ending. This pairs nicely with the title track, a laid-back photograph of Americana that is like a rocking chair on the back porch: lulling, and affording an unobstructed vista.
Similar strains await us in "Farmer's Trust," a slow plunge into an ocean of undriven roads gilded by the whispering of baby birds and the rustling of the leaves that hide them, and in the smoothly paved blacktops of the synth-driven "Extradition" and "Song for Bilbao." Each of these creeps along like wispy clouds over badlands, spun by keyboardist Lyle Mays into sunset. But it isn't all drawl, as drummer Dan Gottlieb proves in the invigorating "Straight On Red," throughout which he provides the perfect springboard for the masterful dialogues of Metheny and Mays.
Travels is what the PMG are all about, and this album shows us the collective at its finest hour. Those hearing the PMG for the first time will want to start with the studio sessions, and especially Offramp, from which Travels was in part drawn. That way, one can appreciate the enthusiasm of the crowds, and get at least a taste of what it must have felt like to be there among them. With a depth and cleanliness of sound that no band can match, the PMG were a force to be reckoned with, but also one so welcoming that reckoning need never have applied. While the record's title cleverly acknowledges the long time the musicians had spent apart, everything about the LP confirms the inimitable blend of creative chemistry, crafty songwriting, and trademark skills shared by these five players.
All the hallmark traits from Deep Purple's golden era (1970-1973) are on display throughout this platinum comeback affair, which has aged much better than most mid-80s efforts in terms of sound, performance, and content. At times mystical,

Keep It SafeIn late 2012, Wild Ones was on the verge of collapse. Guitarist Clayton Knapp had blown out an eardrum, the band's original drummer left the group and his replacement, Seve Sheldon, was in the hospital with a punctured lung, practicing songs on a drum pad with a tube sticking out of his chest. The band's members had funneled all of their money into a debut record, Keep It Safe, that had taken a year to write and nine months to record and mix. Fans and followers began to wonder if that record would ever see the light of day. It was make-or-break time.
Wild Ones made.
Instead of folding in the face of financial drama, injuries and personnel changes, Wild Ones took a deep breath and adjusted to its new surroundings. This band is used to adjusting. Since its formation in 2010, Wild Ones has insisted on operating as a DIY collective. The band recorded and mixed its debut as a group (with help from engineer David Pollock). Sometimes considering each members' opinion meant endless revisits and tweaks to the album's tracks. The process was time-consuming, but it was also worth it. "That was a reaction to the bands we had been in before," says lead vocalist Danielle Sullivan. "This band was born out of our desire to have a democratic, all-inclusive music-making process."
Going it alone-even the artwork on Keep It Safe was created by Wild Ones keyboardist Thomas Himes-comes with its fair share of challenges. Most of Wild Ones' debut was recorded in a two-story East Portland warehouse rehearsal space, where the band was surrounded on all sides by rock acts like Quasi and the Thermals. Wild Ones would get to their practice space around 8 am to record, often grabbing quick takes between thunderous drum solos from down the hall. "Somewhere on the record, if you listen close enough, you can probably hear the metal band next door," Himes says.
"When we went in that room in March, it was raining," says Knapp. "When we finished recording in October, it was raining."
Keep It Safe, the album that finally emerged after well over a year of gestation, is bigger than the sum of its meticulously gathered parts. Even now, the band's sound continues to evolve. Wild Ones' members come from vastly disparate musical backgrounds-guitarist Nick Vicario was a Portland punk icon long before he turned 18; bassist Max Stein is a classical composer-and all of their experiences inform pop music that is influenced by everything from german techno to American R&B. These are sounds that don't usually come packaged together, but in the able hands of Wild Ones, they seem like a perfectly natural fit.1. Golden Twin
