LungsFlorence Welch, an art-school dropout from South London, first gained fame at home with two bombastic singles; Kiss With A Fist and Dog Days Are Over. Not two years after she was discovered while singing Etta James in a club bathroom, she was awarded the 2009 Brit Awards Critics' Choice. She found herself wowing attendee's with her incredible live performance and her now legendary set of pipes.
Her debut album is co-produced by Paul Epworth (Bloc Party, Maximo Park), James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Last Shadow Puppets) and Steve Mackay (PULP, M.I.A), and has already amassed a hefty amount of critical acclaim in the UK. Lungs is made of harps, choirs, drums, quartets, strange electronic wailing, while incorporating countless other instruments and emotions along the way.
The songs are full of Gothic imagery and fairytale flights of fantasy. Her seven-piece band includes long-term collaborators; Rob Ackroyd (guitar), Chris Hayden (drums), Isabella Summers (keyboards) and Tom Monger (harp). Lungs was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize as one of the 12 best albums to be released in the UK this year.1. Dog Days Are Over

Deep FantasyResilient and hard hitting rock n' roll outfit, White Lung are set to release their third album Deep Fantasy via Domino Recording Co. The band is every bit as confrontational as before, but they've managed to open their sound up just enough to draw listeners in before kicking them in the face. (In a good way.)
After a year plus of near constant touring behind Sorry - which won raves from Pitchfork, Rolling Stone and Interview -White Lung slimmed to a trio in the studio; vocalist Mish Way, drummer Anne-Marie Vassiliou and guitarist Kenneth William. Deep Fantasy was made primarily in Vancouver with producer Jesse Gander (who also did both Sorry and their 2010 debut It's The Evil) in just two, ten day-long sessions at the end of last year and the start of this one. William handled bass duties on Deep Fantasy while Wax Idols' Hether Fortune will take up bass and backing vocal duties on tour for the foreseeable future.
Way is more provocative and melodic than ever on Deep Fantasy, lyrically surveying addiction ("Drown With The Monster"), body dysmorphia ("Snake Jaw") and sexual dynamics ("Down It Goes,") amongst other dinner table topics. William, a devotee of Johnny Marr "plays with the speed of an 80s hardcore dude" whirled in Vassiliou's relentless and seemingly effortless approach to drumming.1. Drown With The Monster

Paradise"a finely honed bludgeoning machine"
- The New Yorker
After the critically acclaimed release Deep Fantasy (2014), White Lung return with their fourth album, Paradise.
Vocalist Mish Barber-Way, guitarist Kenneth William and drummer Anne-Marie Vassiliou, reconnected in Los Angeles to work with engineer and producer Lars Stalfors (HEALTH, Cold War Kids, Alice Glass). In October of 2015, White Lung spent a month in the studio, working closely with Stalfors to challenge what could be done with their songs. "I wanted it to sound new. I wanted a record that sounded like it was made in 2016", says William of his mindset. Bringing all the energy, unique guitar work and lyrical prowess Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, NME have praised them for in the past few years, White Lung curated their songs with a new pop sensibility.
Mixed by Stalfors and later mastered by Joe LaPorta, Paradise is their smartest, brightest songwriting yet. "There's this stupid attitude that only punks have where it's uncool to become a better song writer," says Barber-Way, "In no other musical genre are your fans going to drop you when you start progressing. That would be like parents being disappointed in their child for graduating from kindergarten to the first grade. Paradise is the best song writing we have ever done, and I expect the next record to be the same. I have no interest in staying in kindergarten."1. Dead Weight

I Like My Mice (Dead)/Spiderbite7'' vinyl single with picture sleeve
The mysterious goth milquetoast 'Mildred' appeared before Jack White at a hardware store in Kentucky. She had no demo to give, nor guitar with her, so instead she sang her song 'I Like My Mice (Dead)' at the top of her lungs in front of several hardware store customers before quickly walking out of the store in shy earnest. Mr. White immediately followed her to the sidewalk and signed her to a Third Man single contract.
She hails from the Mammoth Cave area, but hasnt given the staff an age, or current address! (...dont worry well be holding her royalty checks here for her.)
In fact her mother dropped her off at Third Man studio for the single session and waited patiently in a Winnebago outside the studio until Mildred was done recording. Mildred showed up with a very cool Gretsch Princess guitar but called it a 'Gitch'. Her band The Mice were even less forthcoming than she was, asking only for a copy of the record when it was done. Luckily, we were able to snap a few shots of them at the Third Man headquarters before they headed back to Kentucky.
The two songs available now are nothing short of remarkable, and were recorded live to 8 track in one take.
Jack White has given this recording the special Third Man catalog number of #003 stating; 'this is exactly the kind of record we want to put out.'Side One1. I Like My Mice (Dead)Side Two1. Spiderbite$6.99Vinyl LP 7'' Single - Sealed Buy Now
BroadcastingIn 2005, COMEBACK KID joined VICTORY RECORDS and released the astonishing hardcore masterpiece, Wake The Dead, the follow-up to their acclaimed debut, Turn It Around. Wake The Dead was a call to arms. It was life changing and life affirming. It was the communique‚ that the restless youth of the world desperately needed. Punknews.org called it a hands-down 10 out of 10. Wake The Dead made COMEBACK KID one of the most celebrated hardcore bands of new millennium. The band responded to the call and toured the globe several times over in honest hardcore fashion. They played any festival, VFW hall and basement that would have them. Countries that do not even speak the band's language still understood the message and hailed COMEBACK KID as one of today's premier hardcore bands and made them one of the most successful bands in the genre.
The band entered 2007 with a new record that will further their message of community and strengthen the perseverance and pride of the hardcore scene. Broadcasting is the band's monstrous collection of anthems that will inspire listeners to tear into the pit, and chant along as if their lungs depended on it. Broadcasting combines breakneck hardcore punk rock in the tradition of MINOR THREAT, BAD BRAINS and 7 SECONDS with forward thinking lyrics and ferocious melodies similar to RISE AGAINST, RANCID and BAD RELIGION. All Housed In A Presentation Box With Hardback Book Complete With Real Zip

The carefully put together 120 page limited edition book recounts the making of this classic Stones album with an extensive essay by Nick Kent, embellished with previously unpublished images of the band and lavishly illustrated with metallic gold ink throughout.
Sticky Fingers, one of the most revered albums in the storied catalogue of the legendary Rolling Stones, is set to enthral a new generation of admirers. The 1971 classic - which captured the band at the absolute peak of their powers, on timeless tracks such as 'Brown Sugar,' 'Wild Horses,' 'Bitch,' 'Sister Morphine' and 'Dead Flowers'.
Sticky Fingers was recorded in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Stargroves, Mick's country home and Olympic Studios in London, and produced by regular confidant Jimmy Miller, Sticky Fingers was released shortly after the Stones became exiled in the south of France, leaving Britain after a sensational farewell tour. It also featured some of the most ground breaking artwork in rock history by Andy Warhol, with its famous working zip on the front cover.
Sticky Fingers has been repeatedly hailed as one of the Stones' all-time great albums, capturing their trademark combination of swagger and tenderness in a superb collection. It continued the incredible outpouring of creative energy that had produced 1968's Beggars Banquet and Let It Bleed in 1969. After Sticky Fingers, the Stones' relocation to the south of France led to the double album masterpiece Exile On Main St. The highly acclaimed Sticky Fingers showcased the ever more inventive song writing of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, and formidable guitar licks from Mick Taylor.
The Super Deluxe edition will also house Get Yer Leeds Lungs Out!, the 13-track audio recording of the Stones' gig in Leeds in March 1971, shortly before their 'exile' in France began. The set included versions of the just-completed 'Brown Sugar,' 'Bitch' and 'Dead Flowers,' one of their many authentic forays into country music territory.
The first sessions that led to Sticky Fingers took place as far back as December 1969, in the remote location of Muscle Shoals Sound Studios, Alabama. The band then reconvened, back home in the UK both at Olympic and with the Rolling Stones Mobile parked up at Mick Jagger's Stargroves home.
On April 23, 1971, 504 days after that first session in Alabama, Sticky Fingers was released, cheered on by media and public alike. "It is the latest beautiful chapter in the continuing story of the greatest rock group in the world," wrote Rolling Stone.7" Vinyl

Sun MarqueeSpiritual odysseys are often the subject of the stories we share with one
another. The romantic idea of the soul's high adventure has been the
consistently compelling backbone of everything from ancient myths to
modern fiction. It's so deeply ingrained in cultures throughout the world
that it's become part of our collective cultural baggage. Austin-based
musician Abram Shook has done his share of wandering the world,
searching for a spiritual and a literal home. From road trips through
South America to surfing excursions in Indonesia, he's been fortunate to
have the opportunity to absorb more of the world's cultures first-hand
than many of us ever will.
After leaving Santa Cruz, California where he grew up and studied jazz,
Shook spent several years in Portland and Boston playing in numerous
bands, and wrestling with an unsettled spirit. Turning to traveling as a
means to quell his existential dread, eventually landed him in Austin, TX,
where he's been part of the city's rich creative community for over 8
years. Though the music community in Austin is no substitute for the
briny air and patient West Coast beaches he still longs for, its vitality and
creativity still manage to nourish the soul.
Abram Shook's solo debut, Sun Marquee breathes with the lungs of a man
that finally found a new place to call home, while also reflecting upon the
circuitous path that led him here. Propelled by Shook's impeccable bass
groove, and inspired by artists like Shuggie Otis, Serge Gainsbourge, and
Tom ZÉ, Sun Marquee distills lessons learned and questions unanswered
into an accessible collection of pop songs.1. Recovery

Music For Heart And BreathMusic for Heart and Breath is Richard Reed Parry's debut as classical composer who is mostly known from the Grammy Nominated Uber Indie Rock
Band Arcade Fire Richard is a multi-instrumentalist and composer, drawing his influences from classical music, folk and electronica. This is his first core classical release
that will find his home at Deutsche Grammophon!
The album features various compositions for Heart and Breath for various ensembles, as well as small interludes (Interruptions) The concept behind Heart and Breath is that every musician involved in the piece generates his own tempo by listening to his/her pulse during the performance. Fragile and intimate, these stunningly created performance effects are the basis for this conceptual compositional approach Richard explains:
"Music for Heart and Breath is a series of compositions that use involuntarily moving organs of the human body (specifically the lungs and the heart) as performance parameters. There are no time signatures: the tempos and rhythms are always governed by either the heart rates or the breathing rates of the individual players. In the case of the latter, the performers are instructed to play directly in sync with their own or another player's individual breathing (playing at the speed of their inhalations, their exhalations or both). To enable the players to hear and play in sync with their own heartbeats, they wear stethoscopes and, naturally, generally play quietly."
The music is performed by an exciting line-up of musicians, produced by Bryce Dessner Nico Muhly (Conductor, celeste/piano), Bryce & Aaron Dessner (guitar) from The National, Kronos Quartet, the ensemble YmusicLP1

Stealers Wheel (Discontinued)Includes Stuck in the Middle (With You)
One Of Two Releases From Intervention Records' (Re)Discover Series
100% Analog Mastering by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio
Stealers Wheel's self-titled debut is sourced from the best source that is currently available, a beautifully preserved ½" 30ips "safety copy" of the original stereo master. When mastering this LP we compared what we were getting off the tape to the exceptional original A&M UK "Porky/Pecko" cut on LP. In our mastering we decided to preserve the full (and we do mean full!) bass expression that is on the tape, and that no additional push was needed in the midrange and treble to emphasize detail. The result is a remarkably lively recording with driving bass, wonderfully expressive guitars and living, breathing vocal harmonies from Rafferty and Egan like you've never heard them before!
You know those songs that come up on the radio when you're driving and you crank up the volume to 11 and sing your lungs out? That's what Intervention's (Re)Discover Series is all about: taking these FM classics and presenting them in "like you've never heard it before" sound quality so you can get that same blast of energy and excitement on your hi-fi at home. The hallmark of this series will be 100% analog mastering from real analog tapes. Combining superior master sources with the truly full-range mastering chain at Cohearent and RTI's dead quiet vinyl pressing means that you'll hear these FM staples with power, majesty and musical detail like it's the first time. King Bee is the final release by Blues legend Muddy Waters (born in 1913 as McKinley Morganfield), originally released in 1981 and produced by Johnny Winter. Due to Waters' failing health, the LP was recorded in only three days in May of 1980. The LP includes newly recorded Muddy Waters classics, such as I'm A King Bee, Champagne & Reefer, Sad Sad Day and (My Eyes) Keep Me In Trouble. Around the time of the album's release, Waters hit the road with a new band as much as his slowly declining health allowed him to.
By the end of 1981, he was diagnosed with lung cancer and had to have part of his lung removed. Still, in 1982 a new tour was booked but an increasing number of performances had to be canceled. And after having made a surprise appearance at an Eric Clapton concert in Miami that Summer, Waters found out the cancer had returned as he was coughing blood. Sadly, his body wasn't strong enough for another operation. On April 30, 1983 McKinley Morganfield died of a heart attack. Five years later he was posthumously inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Amongst his admirers are Buddy Guy, The Rolling Stones, Rory Gallagher, John Mayall and Steve Winwood.1. Master Of My Make BelieveSantigold is Santi White: an artist whose perseverance relies on invention, a champion who survives off her own skill and faith. She is a major muse watched by the inspired world, an in categorical performer who collapses time and genre with one hand guided by tradition, while the other hand carves out a shining future. Santigold is neither calm nor mayhem, but from her lungs burst every color in between.
After four years of hide and seek in which blogs blew up at the sudden release of any track with her name attached to it, Santigold returns in a moment of global aggression and vulnerability. Honing in on the hyper-media cult of personality, in her unmistakable voice she asks the listener: Into what fantasy do you hurl yourself as you gaze into the glow of your machine? The answer to this question is central to what drives Master of My Make-Believe, her latest work to be released this spring on Atlantic Records.
As an antidote against self-celebratory status updates in a climate where the focus on fame outweighs a days emotions, Master of My Make-Believe summons pop culture zombies back to life. This is sound proof of an artist on a diligent journey, measuring the power of individual mood against social clamor. Sifting through a wondrous wreckage of airplay, upload, and anguish, Santigolds talent lies in filtering reality through freakdom, to find in desire a timeless spark of raw magic.
Anyone caught referring to Master of My Make-Believe as a sophomore effort is only half right. Though relatively fresh as Santigold, Santi Whites history of writing, production, and performance stretch beyond the centurys flip. Her collaboration with the industrys most recognized and respected talent is something continuous and wide reaching, making her musical lineage all the much richer. Declared Best Breakthrough Artist by NME in 2008 and Pop Music Vanguard by ASCAP in 2009, the voice that defines Santigold is as complex as the faces that pack a subway car, as intimate and honest as conversation on a weathered stoop.
Through chopped pianos, the clink of glass bottles, and the peaking blast of motorcycle engines, Master of My Make-Believe accounts for 21st century details of life from the hearts center to the minds periphery. In her pen and in her voice, the breadth of substance presented in Santigolds newest songs is immediate and complex. There are valleys here wherein the drudge of daily living is met with caution and confronted by mortality, but underneath it all there is the celebration of each persons power and vision to fight toward what they believe. The Wind (Pre-Order)The Wind is like an X-ray with a dark shadow that shouldn't be
there and can't be ignored.
Recorded after Zevon was diagnosed in 2002 with inoperable lung cancer, it sounds
like the work of a guy who's still fighting, but also starting to wrap things up. Although
Zevon is best known for his poison-dart wit, he's always been a bit of a softie, too.
It's no surprise, then, that The Wind leans heavily on irony-free ballads such as
"She's Too Good for Me," "El Amor de mi Vida," and "Please Stay." But there's also a
dose of defiant blues ("Rub Me Raw") and plenty of dirty slide guitar, courtesy of Ry
Cooder and David Lindley. (Other guests include Bruce Springsteen, Don Henley,
Tom Petty, Jackson Browne, and Dwight Yoakam). If the lyrics generally lack the
literary precision of Zevon's best work, the songs take on greater weight given the
circumstance under which they were recorded. Heard in 1983, a party-hearty
anthem like "The Rest of the Night" would've sounded like yet another dumb
argument for hedonism, and "Numb as a Statue" might have come off as the selflacerating
joke of an alcoholic unable to deal with his emotions directly.
The Wind, these songs are genuinely touching, the work of a guy deadened by
meds but unwilling to surrender to The Big Sleep just yet. A cover of Dylan's
"Knockin' on Heaven's Door" is the album's most direct comment on Zevon's fragile
health, but the most touching song is the album-closing acoustic ballad "Keep Me in
Your Heart," recorded by Zevon at home after the star-studded studio work was
complete. Clearly, Zevon survived one hell of a farewell party last night, but now it's
morning again and there's no telling what the rest of the day might bring.

Tyler Bryant And The ShakedownA Band On The Verge Of Rock N Roll Greatness!
After carving out a fervent fan base and drawing widespread critical applause with their heady, high-voltage brand of guitar-driven rock, shooting from both hip and heart, Nashville's Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown find themselves at the epicenter of an advanced rock 'n' roll adventure that continues to take them around the world, appearing at some of the biggest venues along the way
Starting with a guest spot on AC/DC's 'Rock or Bust' World Tour in 2016, the quartet - Caleb Crosby on drums, Noah Denney on bass and backing vocals, Graham Whitford on guitar and Texas-born Tyler himself on vocals and guitar, a musician immersed in blues music from an early age - have continued to share events and stages with some of rock's most legendary names, including Guns N' Roses, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Aerosmith, Deep Purple and ZZ Top.
At the same time as projecting their music into stadiums, Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown - The Shakedown to friends and fans - have continued to build their name and reputation as a headline act, and indeed it was backstage after a sold-out, bill-topping show in London (June 2017) that the band signed their new deal with Snakefarm Records - the most immediate and exciting result being an 11-track, self-titled studio album set to be the label's inaugural release, with November 3rd locked in as the day of the launch
"So many great things have happened over the past few months," exclaims Caleb, "and it's all just so surreal. I remember seeing that Guns N' Roses were playing two stadium shows in London on June 16th and 17th earlier this year, which are birthdays for Noah and myself, back to back, and I said wouldn't it be amazing if we appeared on both of those shows and we did!"
Rewinding back to 2008, Tyler moved to Nashville by himself at the ripe age of 17 to write songs and form a band. It was here he met Caleb, and together they put together what would become The Shakedown
"The instant we started playing, I knew there was something special," reflects Caleb. "We played our first show a week later and haven't stopped since!"
The next addition to the ranks was Graham Whitford, a young guitarist from Boston, Massachusetts. Introduced to Tyler as the guy who could put him out of a job, it was clear from the start that Whitford was a force to be reckoned with. As soon as Tyler heard him play, he asked him to uproot and move to Nashville to join the band.
All that was needed now was the right bassist: enter Noah Denney, who instantly added a whole new dimension to The Shakedown's sound. As Tyler recalls, "his bass sound scared me and he brought an edge and an attitude to the band that we didn't even know we needed."
2013's 'Wild Child' album announced the quartet's arrival with a bang as they logged time on the road with the likes of Aerosmith, Jeff Beck & ZZ Top, while receiving the endorsement of Guitar World, Rolling Stone, Los Angeles Times, Nylon, Interview Magazine and Paste. Taking over TV, they lit up the stage at both Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! and AXS Live.
Following the release of 'The Wayside' EP (2015, produced by Grammy Award winner Vance Powell), the boys crisscrossed the country alongside Billy Gibbons & AC/DC on that celebrated 2016 run. April 2017 found them without a label and only a month out from joining Guns N' Roses on a European tour
"We had just decided to self-produce a record completely on our own," says Tyler. "I'll never forget driving home that morning and getting a call from our manager saying, 'You wanna go back to Europe with Guns N Roses?' That was a great kick-start to the first day of tracking."
So they hunkered down and set about writing & recording their second full-length album, with John Fields (Soul Asylum, Paul Westerberg) coming on board to handle the mix. Blending a sense of history with a youthful, energetic heartbeat, this anticipated outing features a host of brand new tracks, some of which have become staples of the live set. It also stands as the start of a relationship with the newly-launched Snakefarm label.
Housed within the global infrastructure of Spinefarm Records (a UMG label), the Snakefarm brand will provide a targeted home for international artists, both established and new, from the increasingly buoyant roots rock world - music based on authenticity and emotion, under-pinned by core values and beliefs.
In this respect, Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown - who can lay claim to a fast-growing international presence, with major UK festivals such as Download, Ramblin' Man and British Summer Time already under their belt, alongside headline shows plus guest appearances with Nashville neighbors The Cadillac Three - are a flagship representation; what's more, in 'Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown' they've delivered a genuine genre-defying labour of love, a varied and infectious statement shot through with passion, pride and a welcome dash of glamour.
"This is the definitive Shakedown record as of now, and that's why we decided it should be self-titled," explains a fired-up Tyler. "It's the definitive Shakedown record due to the fact there were no other cooks in the kitchen. We put so much energy into writing and recording each song. It's not just a guitar album; it's a song album, and I'm proud to hang my hat on this one."
The first single / video, 'Heartland', introduces Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown with a one-two punch of gritty guitars and soulful vocals before slipping into a hypnotic bridge punctuated by airy clean guitars. Tyler sings, "There's a slow beat in the heartland, going down in the quicksand, stack 'em up and watch the cards fall, if it happens to one, then it happens to all".
"It's no secret that there's crazy stuff going on all over the world right now. There's madness all around and people are constantly picking sides. Every night when the Shakedown takes the stage, I'm amazed that music brings people together. Nobody is thinking about what side they're on when they're singing at the top of their lungs next to a complete stranger. I thought maybe through music I could remind myself and our TBSD family that when one person falls, the rest of us do, too. I wanna get together with a bunch of folks and sing that sentiment because it's one I strongly believe in.
Elsewhere, 'Backfire' struts along on a stomping drum groove driven by thick distortion with lyrics "about pulling the short end of the straw and feeling vengeful". Then there's 'Aftershock'. Hinging on hummable riffing, the track simmers at a steady swamp crawl before the Sabbathian refrain.
"That's a tune about feeling the effects of a situation long after it's come and gone.
As Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown spend 2017 lighting up stages with the likes of Guns N' Roses (again), The Who & Alice Cooper - as well as making their first appearance at Rock In Rio - this new album sees them fully realize their vision with a sound that resounds above the bleachers, plus a collective desire to keep the entertainment flag fully unfurled
"I want people to put this on and literally escape," Tyler leaves off. "I hope they feel free. That's what rock 'n' roll makes me feel. You don't have to think about your bills or any of the other things that have the power to bring you down when you've got your fist up in the air, your eyes closed and you're lost in the music. Angus Young told me, 'You've got to make the audience think you're taking them on a journey, and they'll go with you. If you believe it, they will too'. I believe it with this record."1. Heartland

My Midnight ThingsSince 1983, the name Lizzy Borden has been synonymous with heavy metal music of the highest caliber. With My Midnight Things he has reaffirmed this standing, delivering the biggest, most dramatic, moving and cinematic record of his career, and one of the most essential additions to the genre in 2018. While showcasing a diverse range of sounds, tones and moods, it is unmistakably the work of the man who released a string of classic albums in the 1980s and two more in the 00s, but with a new fire burning at the heart of the record, it is one that he has lovingly crafted for those who scream along with every word at his shows. "On our last tour across Europe, Asia and South America, I noticed that the audience had changed," he states. "It got a lot younger. I looked out to see all these kids in every country singing at the top of their lungs to songs that were written before they were born, and that made me want to start writing some full-blown albums just for them. I wanted to make songs that would be theirs, albums that they could be a part of."
Having not dropped a record since 2007's mighty Appointment With Death, fans have understandably champed at the bit waiting for new material. Though penning numerous songs throughout that period, when it became time to seriously focus upon writing an album, the multi-instrumentalist did what needed to be done to be sure of creating the best possible music. "I knew the only way I could find what I was looking for was to lock myself away and experiment, so that's what I did. I wrote and recorded in my studio in North Hollywood in a very industrial area all night every night, with only sirens from fire trucks and these songs to keep me company. It was a lonely time, but very fruitful. You might even hear some of those sirens in some of the songs if you listen closely." Starting with between forty and fifty songs, he steadily whittled these down to fifteen, and finally to the ten that made the record, only wanting the very best to make the cut. As with all of his albums, once Borden hones in on a core subject matter he builds the album around it, and in the case of My Midnight Things, the theme is that of love. However, adopting a different approach to writing than usual, rather than starting with music, he instead focused on the lyrics, and penned the music later to best serve the stories being told, wanting every song to stand up on its own while keeping the storyline of the record moving forward. "I just let the lyrics drive the mood and the way I would sing each song, but overall I kept it varied and engaging enough so that listeners will want to devour the whole album in one sitting, without you hearing me repeat myself."
The diversity of the record makes it abundantly clear that he succeeded, and it makes for a thrilling ride from start to finish. Opening with the titanic stomp of the title track, the cinematic feel kicks off from the start, a serpentine seductiveness coiling through it, and the likes of "A Stranger To Love" and the bruising "Our Love Is God" inhabit similarly dark territory. The more stripped down, haunting strains of the reprise of the title track - which was in fact the first version penned - is achingly frail, and then counterpointing all of the record's darker and more brooding moments are the upbeat "Long May They Haunt Us", the hugely anthemic and uplifting closer "We Belong In The Shadows", and the frankly glorious "Run Away With Me". While the title of the album "means many different things" to Borden, he chooses not to disclose these, allowing listeners to find their own meaning in it, which is something important to him. In terms of the record's central theme, he acknowledges that while "love" seems somewhat obvious, he tried to find a way to see it through a different lens. "Sometimes being in love is the worst thing that can happen to you if you're with the wrong person and you can't stop it, and sometimes it's the best thing in the world. I knew I could find things in between every other song that's been written about it. So that was the challenge. But, even though I write with a theme in mind and with different personalities singing each song, I never write in storyboard form. I always try to write in poetry form. I think you can search for more meaning that way, from one line to the next there can be multiple meanings, as opposed to being trapped telling a story."
Having signed a new contract with Metal Blade on the strength of three demo tracks, Borden opted to produce My Midnight Things himself, with Joey Scott as co-producer, who also handled all the drumming duties. Having an old school approach to his drumming, feeding off the vocals, lyrics and melody rather than just acting as a time keeper, he was perfectly suited to Borden's approach to the record, which also applied to his role as co-producer. "I knew what I was going for and had doubts that I could find a producer who would understand that. My approach is very different than what is happening in today's music, but Joey got that and wanted the same thing." With Marliese Quance Mildenberger handling the majority of the keyboards, her unique melancholy playing style added even more "emotion and dimension" to each song, while Borden himself handled all of the bass, guitars, some keys and all of the vocal parts. Anyone exposed to My Midnight Things will find it hard to deny that like all of his records, it is a true vocal tour de force, each track endowed with a phenomenal amount of layering to create something that is uniquely Lizzy Borden. "The style that I record vocals harkens back to The Beatles and Queen. It's time consuming and tedious, but the result gives you a more multi-dimensional feel than you would get with a single vocal. When I recorded 'Master Of Disguise' (1989), I was clocked in at a seven-octave vocal range between all the backing and lead vocals. It gave the feel of multiple personalities within my voice, and I've used that technique on the last four albums."
That every song on the record could be released as a single is testament to just how strong this collection is. While truly a record for his fans, its appeal will easily reach much further, and Borden is as eager to get back on stage as his devout followers who cannot wait to see him back up there. "I've already started working on the 'My Midnight Things' Show, and I really can't wait to play these songs live. There are so many talented players out there in the world, I know I will find the right guys or girls to be on stage with me in my touring band, and just based on what is being talked about, so far it will be the best show I've ever done. I really do feel a new excitement that I have not felt in years. The best is yet to come."Tracklist coming soon!$25.99Vinyl LP - Sealed Buy Now

Shadowed By VulturesPolar have been teasing us for 'Shadowed By Vultures' since the release of 'Glass Cutter' in October and 'Mountain Throne' earlier this week and it still isn't enough. This early on it is clear that 'Shadowed By Vultures' is one of the best things to come from 2014 already, Polar are always reliable for epic pit inducing, crowd chanting tracks but this full length has taken it to the next level. Polar have matured and developed bringing depth, musicianship and ingenuity to create a inspirational and remarkable album that will form an iconic place in their discography.
'Shadowed By Vultures' opens with 'First Breath' which immerses the listener in, calling them out with a dominating and prevalent riff heaving them to the forefront of the album. In 52 seconds we have already had all our attention drawn out by a tyrannical Polar calling card that preludes what is unleashed throughout the entire album. And they continue to dominate our ears with 'Blood Lines' pulling Woodford's vocals forward in an anthemic chorus, his vocals are one of Polar's unique points that through every rasp, growl and shout there is nothing but clarity, you can hear every word and shout it back.
First single 'Glass Cutter' premiered on Radio 1 in October and still stands out as one of the most influential tracks from 'Shadowed By Vultures'. The track ignites crowds and echoes out venues with 'I am the water that fills your lungs' and spurs images of people climbing over each other in frantic Polar induced fits. However, 'Before The Storm' then brings the full length to a hauntingly unexpected halt, the female vocals juxtaposing Woodford's rawr into an eloquent and fragile track that delves deeper into anything we could have expected. A longing, fervent track that commands notice among the destructive album as we go into the second single 'Mountain Throne'.
Within days of the video being posted fans have begged for the lyrics so they can sing them back. As guitars rise up and haul us through every breaking breath of the track you can see why 'Mountain Throne' has swept up fans all over the internet sitting behind their screens desperate to shout 'We are, we are condemned to be criminals!'. And Polar do not cease there as they rip into the neck breaking 'Vipers' which finds itself as another example of Polar's outstanding song writing before title track 'Shadowed By Vultures' that never relents. The track falls on intricate, resilient and winding riffs that form around unrelenting percussion. As instruments rile up in pauses into incessant uproars before piano keys fall in and we seamlessly find ourselves in 'Paradise' . The articulate and delicate track forms the most beautiful breather in such a hefty album allowing a moment of recollection before 'Create'.
If you didn't know 'Create' from their previous EP 'Inspire Create Destroy' then you don't know what Polar excellence you have been missing. Although they have clearly developed from their previous work 'Create' still commands every second of savage attention it deserves. If Polar don't have you chanting 'Inspire! Create! Destroy!' by the end of their set, you are definitely in the wrong place, or they have already broken you. As the album closes on 'Our Legacy' Polar unleash a rasping raw space before strings wind us into a frenzy that leaves us desperate to play the album again. Twangs and stomps winding down a diverse and prodigious album that will be splitting our headphones for years to come.

I'm here to tell you it's definitely a piece of work to get excited about...the entire album is a standout... - Indie Shuffle
"Equally fuelled by dissonance and shivers as by soaring melodies and handclaps, Rookie wrenches alt.rock from its indie daydream and tosses it into a well-informed blend that make the kids look more like the connoisseur than the novice." - Drum Media
"It's his voice and those lyrics that are going to lunge The Trouble With Templeton into "something special" territory." - Album of the Week, Herald Sun
"The deeper you go into this full-length LP, the richer the colour and the detail." **** - Album of the Week, Courier Mail
Bella Union are thrilled to announce the signing of acclaimed Australian quintet The Trouble With Templeton whose debut album is titled Rookie.
Already a huge success in Australia, The Trouble With Templeton is the creation of singer/songwriter Thomas Calder, a 23-year-old wunderkind who formed the band in 2011. The following year saw TTWT expand to a 5-piece, the new members complimenting Calder's emotive vocals and songwriting with a collaborative, self-assured sound.
Adventurous, eccentric and stunningly melodic, Rookie is an album that leaves a distinct musical impression. With their debut release The Trouble With Templeton have crafted a record full of warmth and heart, whilst displaying a willingness to make music that's not afraid to affect or surprise. "The only prerequisite we had going in was that if we loved the song and we believe in it, then we were going to record it," says Thomas. "The element of surprise is something we really enjoy in music, something we're always shooting for. You don't want to know where a song is going from the first two lines."As a result, the album is a whirling dervish of moods and colours, of tempos and genres, melodies and layers, tackling concepts behind relationships and the way unique human narratives emerge from different viewpoints.
Musically, defining Rookie beyond a happily all-encapsulating idea like 'intelligent melodic alt-pop' isn't worth the hassle. It's an album that demands listening to in order to be understood. "It's held together by something undefinable," reckons Thomas. "For me it's a whole kaleidoscope of sounds and genres, but there's something holding it together, and that's us as a band."1. TownesSteve Earle's new album, Townes is his highly anticipated follow up to the Grammy Award winning album Washington Square Serenade. The 15 song set is comprised of songs written by Earle's friend and mentor, the late singer-songwriter, Townes Van Zandt.
The songs selected for Townes were the ones that meant the most to Earle and the ones he personally connected to. Some of the selections chosen were songs that Earle has played his entire career (Pancho and Lefty, Lungs, White Freightliner Blues). He learned the song (Quicksilver Daydreams of) Maria directly from Van Zandt and taught himself Marie and Rake specifically to include here. Earle recorded the New York sessions solo and then added the other instruments later on in order to preserve the spirit of Van Zandt's original solo performances to the best of his recollection. The track Lungs, was produced and mixed by the Dust Brothers' John King and features Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine, The Nightwatchman) on electric guitar.

Twin Forks (Awaiting Repress)Twin Forks are Chris Carrabba (Dashboard Confessional) Suzie Zeldin (The Narrative), Ben Homola (Bad Books), and Jonathan Clark. The band new
band was formed to play a one off festival, but worked so well that they decided to keep playing together. They put together an EP that they gave away
digitally to fans, and released a proper EP in September 2013. They have been touring the world since the formation of the band, and are working
towards the release of their first full length record in 2014.
"I use my gut, and my gut don't lie to me" is more than just a lyric in Twin Forks' exuberant "Something We Just Know," it is a kind of mission statement for
the quartet. If you've ever been to a musical performance that made you lose all sense of time and place and give in to the cathartic feeling of clapping
and dancing and singing along, you've already visited the sweet spot where Twin Forks have made it their mission to reside. "Whatever makes the
audience stomp their feet and sing at the top of their lungs, that's what I want to be doing," says singer/guitarist Chris Carrabba. "I want to be generating
that spirit from the stage. And there's gotta be a way to do that whether the audience knows the songs yet or not." Carrabba, mandolin player Suzie

CaminandoAfter an exploration away from the mainstream of salsa that would last nearly ten years, beginning with the release of 1984's Buscando AmÉrica, RubÉn Blades fans who missed the coro-shouting, compana-banging fun of his Fania years will rejoice in Caminando. Though a contemporary release, with plenty of contemporary influence, Blades' playlist on this record is much more salsa than fusion. From the rollicking, joyful title cut, to the slinky, trombone-driven Colón-esque Prohibido Olvidar, the RubÉn Blades made famous in the dancehalls is back, if but for a short time. The production on Caminando is unique to other Blades productions. The treatment of his voice has a hollow, retro quality that is curious and yet charming. The band, comprised mostly of his recent Seis del Solar cohorts, Ralph Irizarry, Robby Ameen, Oscar Hernandez, Eddy Montalvo, and others, sounds warm and classic. Perhaps it is the tonality of the record, or maybe 1991 was a great year for writing, but nearly every selection features coros and hooks that are more top-of-the-lungs shoutable than anywhere else in the artist's huge catalog. Though Blades would soon return to the Latin fusion experimentation that would characterize the rest of his career, this brief return to the music that made him famous is pure gold.

AtomizerBig Black was started by Steve Albini in 1982 while he was attending Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Lungs, the first Big Black release was recorded by Steve on a borrowed 4-track. He played everything on the EP himself - except the sax bleating courtesy of pal John Bohnen and the drums courtesy of Roland. Soon after, Steve recruited Jeff Pezzati (Naked Raygun) on bass, and Santiago Durango (also Naked Raygun) joined them on guitar. In 1983, together with live drummer Pat Byrne, they recorded the Bulldozer EP. By 1984, the band had done some touring and recorded the Racer X EP and the start of the Il Duce 7". After that, Jeff returned to Naked Raygun and was replaced by Dave Riley. In 1985, Big Black recorded their first full-length, Atomizer, as well as finishing the Il Duce 7". Atomizer was released in 1986 along with the release of the Hammer Party compilation CD. In 1987, the Headache EP and Heartbeat 7" were released. That same year, the band recorded and released the 7" of The Model/He's A Whore as well as their second full-length album, Songs About Fucking. They toured extensively (for Big Black).
