    Tomorrow Forever

Matthew Sweet's new album, Forever Tomorrow, was recorded at his new studio - Black Squirrel Submarine - in Omaha where he now lives. Matthew engineered, performed on guitars, keyboards, bass, and god knows what else, sang lead and background vocals and mixed the recordings. The record was mastered for vinyl at the famed Abbey Road Studios in London by Sean Magee, a longtime veteran at the studio. Sean won a Grammy for his Beatles reissues and has recently won accolades for his remastering of the John Lennon solo catalog reissues. The record will be released on Sweet's label, Honeycomb Hideout.

    100% Fun

Released in 1995, 100% Fun is the fifth album by Alternative Rock musician Matthew Sweet. Matthew Sweet's guitar-dominated, hook-laden power Pop runs through its 12 songs at a swift pace.

Behind Sweet's bright hooks lies something darker, the self-loathing of Sick Of Myself and the mental manipulation of We're The Same aren't evident from the sound of the record, which obliterates any hidden meanings with its chiming guitars and driving rhythms.

Sick of Myself was a big hit in 1995, placed in the Mainstream Rock Chart, Modern Rock Tracks, and The Billboard Top 100.

"I believe you should allow the
songs to be boss, and the songs
were saying, 'You need to make
    a rock record.'"
    -Lloyd Cole

It's been 30 years since Lloyd Cole appeared
on the radar of music fans with his band,
The Commotions, and their Gold-selling debut,
Rattlesnakes. Cole has kept busy, releasing solo
albums since 1990, and Omnivore Recordings is
proud to present his latest, Standards.

Originally released in 2013, Standards was only
available overseas. Omnivore is correcting that
by offering the title here on LP.

Recruiting band members from his self-titled
debut - including drummer Fred Maher
and Matthew Sweet on bass, as well as former Commotion Blair Cowan on keyboards - Standards features 10 Cole-penned originals, plus a
cover of John Hartford's "California Earthquake."

Recorded in Los Angeles, Easthampton, and
New York, Standards is prime Lloyd Cole. With
a nod to the past, but always an eye toward the
future, Standards will take its place a mong Cole's

Their songs are full of rich, rural details: frozen lakes, swaying
trees, highway lights glowing in the deep night. - Rolling Stone

Milia's lyrics roll like rich literature and are just as visually
    descriptive. - All Music Guide

As a band steeped in the rose tint of the early 90's, the
references to a collective history we all hold fondly are intrinsic to
Frontier Ruckus' songcraft. The band embarked upon a trilogy of
records surrounding these themes of place: the rust of a
Midwestern suburbia anywhere and the edifice of those oft
crumbling surroundings baked with the deeply passionate
memories they evoke. The Orion Songbook (2008), Deadmalls &
Nightfalls (2010), and Eternity of Dimming (2013) served as a trinity
of sorts to the gravity of those View-Master cartridge visions. In
listening one clicks thru song-slides of Matthew Milia's densely
worded sermons, if you will, belted and cooed with a timbre that is
full and fragile all at once, held together with netting from long-time
friend David Jones' angular banjo throes, and fleshed out by a
thick quasi-orchestra of brass, chord organ, and saw by Zachary
Nichols. Long-time vocalist Anna Burch returns to touring with
the band, providing a honey-sweet gelatin that firmly bases yet
sets each song into a full-throated fire.

Time has settled things, the fossils of those first records remain,
but a new rolling house has been built upon it by the band, as if
pulled from show to show, tour stop to tour stop. Milia and
company aren't stopping. There's some place to be. Now 6 years
on from their first full length, lauds from NPR, Paste, Rolling Stone,
and Daytrotter in the rear-view, and remnants of tours to Europe
and each corner of these United States scattered in fanny-packs
and hollow-body guitar cases, Sitcom Afterlife speaks with a more compact and frontal
approach. In these new songs Frontier Ruckus isn't retreading
those two-lane highways they've came on, but leaning forward -
there's a structured forward motion to this collection, a sense of
urgency toward the present, and a brevity that speaks of
immediate passion - not disregarding that lived-in past but also
not forlornly dragging it behind this shiny-new Airstream trailer that
    is Sitcom Afterlife.

    Little Honey

Lucinda Williams new Lost Highway release, Little Honey features many songs she has been performing live for years, the original Circles And X's which she initially wrote in 1985 and a legendary duet with Elvis Costello on Jailhouse Tears. The Eric Liliestrand and Tom Overby produced affair also features guest appearances from Matthew Sweet, Susanna Hoffs, Jim Lauderdale, Tim Easton and Charlie Louvin. In support here are Doug Pettibone on guitar, David Sutton on bass, Chet Lyster on guitar, Butch Norton on drums and Rob Burger on keyboards.

Im in a different phase of my life, so there are more happy moments on this album, the singer-songwriter says of her ninth studio set. Darkly introspective, is one phrase people have used to describe a lot of my songs. There are moody songs, but Im looking outside myself a little bit more. These arent boy meets girl, boy leaves girl, girl gets bummed out songs, theres a lot more than that going on.

    Blessed

Williams' 2011 Studio Set on 2LP Includes Entire Album on CD Plus a Bonus CD of the Kitchen Tapes Demos

Americana Legend's 12th Record Produced by Don Was

Features Guest Appearances by Elvis Costello and Matthew Sweet

Following a two-year break between albums, and the blossoming of a relationship that turned into marriage, one of the great contemporary songwriters and music makers returns with her twelfth studio set. And being that the artist we're talking about is Lucinda Williams, the record is a doozy.

Diverse and captivating, Blessed opens with the gritty kiss-off Buttercup then moves seamlessly into the sultry blues of Born To Be Loved. Williams delves into a heavier subject as she questions the motives for a suicide on the hard-driving Seeing Black, which features blistering guitar from Elvis Costello. The thoughtful title track slowly builds to a melodic climax as it offers an eye-opening look at whats right in front of us, but too often unnoticed. The singer/guitarist's knack for insights and emotive songs run throughout the 12-song set.

Poignant and powerful, Soldiers Song simultaneously tells a tragic story of the soldier overseas and his wife and child back home. On the gorgeous Kiss Like Your Kiss, Williams lays down one of the most beautiful and fragile vocals she has ever recorded. The original version of the song appeared on the True Blood: Music From The HBO Original Series - Volume 2, and was recently nominated for a Grammy Award.

Its nothing new to see Williams tug at the heartstrings and stimulate the mind on her songs, but there is a vibe throughout Blessed that is unique to this album: the sound of wisdom, wherewithal, and experience Williams has gained through her more than 30 years as an uncompromising artist. Combine that pedigree with Grammy Award-winning producer Don Was, and the results are nothing but special. Was co-produced Blessed with Eric Liljestrand and Tom Overby, who co-produced Williams' highly-praised 2008 effort Little Honey.

Lost Highway's 2LP pressing of Blessed also includes the entire album on CD as well as a revealing bonus disc, titled The Kitchen Tapes, which presents the record's songs in demo form as Williams recorded them, often at her kitchen table, as she's prone to do. Complete packaging on new studio records doesn't come any better!

    Real Estate

REAL ESTATE waft in on vibes of hazy summers past. The New Jersey quartet cut the sleeves short and the pop smooth to shade you from the midday heat. Every song works its way to that part of your consciousness that reveled in the fleeting waves of freedom that eked in once classes broke and the sun lingered a little longer over suburban roofs. And with three quarters of the band holding down Garden State roots its no surprise that a bit of Jersey indie-pop heritage sneaks its way into their sound, lifting the most sun streaked moments from The Feelies and Yo La Tengo and filtering them through the kaleidoscope of memories aimless drives through parched neighborhood streets. MARTIN COURTNEYs songwriting has a way of wrapping up the immediacy of youth with the ennui of age for the perfect shade of bittersweet bliss, mind you though, much heavier on the sweet than the bitter. Add to this MATTHEW MONDANILEs (DUCKTAILS, PREDATOR VISION) shimmering guitar strains full of equal parts sea foam and beer foam, pepper in the boardwalk clatter of ETIENNE PIERRE DUGUAYs drums, ALEX BLEEKERs staccato low end and the perfect afternoon is just a lawn chair and boom box away.Andy French (Raven Sings the Blues) Received a Best New Music, 8.5 rating from Pitchfork.

All My Favorite Singers Are Willie Nelson

Astral Swan's All My Favorite Singers Are Willie Nelson is a collection of stark psychedelic folk from the unfiltered neuroses of Calgary's Matthew Swann. Songs steeped in universal anguish, marveling at the world's knack for enterprise and cannibalism, come across instead as subtle, reassuring lullabies. These are quiet, relatable anthems for the outsider set, balancing gentle melodies on Swann's self-obsession with moral fallibility. On first single "Beginning Of The End", Swann delves into the album's various drug states in his sweetly apprehensive tone, a lowly guitar dancing loosely with intoxicated children, asking: "Who told the kids in the yard that they're mostly dust? Now they just stay drunk. Keep getting more fucked up".

Equally inspired by serene 60's folk, 80's no-wave alienation, and the insouciance of 90's grunge, Astral Swans' music is spacious yet constrained, hauntingly personal and oddly sincere. The skeletal "Let Their Faces All Blur Out" races softly with the punk rock abandon of early Sonic Youth and Eric's Trip; "What Calms You Down, Freaks Me Out" bears the ominous pleasance of Syd Barrett, Arthur Russell, Nick Drake, and fellow Calgarian Chad VanGaalen. More structured than Swann's Extra Happy Ghost!!! project (produced by VanGaalen), this album's experimental spirit denies the haphazard "singer-songwriter" label that some might attach to Astral Swans.

Set for release on Dan Mangan's Madic Records, these twelve songs lavish in Swann's startlingly sardonic reflections, in his own words, "confronting our strange ways of experiencing personhood, in the moral gorge between ideals and inadequacies". Tracked live in Swann's living room, and later embellished in an old Calgary warehouse with local experimental/improv mainstay Brad Hawkins (Ghostkeeper), All My Favorite Singers Are Willie Nelson is flawed if not for its air of accidental perfection, normalizing existential struggle with rhythm and harmony, a natural marriage of the sweet to the acrid.

    Blues In Orbit

Remastered By Bernie Grundman From The Original Analog Tapes

Gatefold Old-school Tip-On On Jacket By Stoughton Printing

Plated And Pressed At Quality Record Pressings

It's tempting for Blues in Orbit to be overlooked when Duke Ellington's best albums are discussed, but truly it's an undisputed gem. There are 14 tracks, none of them is longer than 4:50 and it is all good stuff. There are some familiar favorites such as In a Mellotone and C Jam Blues as well as less often heard gems like Blues in Blueprint and Sweet and Pungent. It is also in stereo, and the arrangements are superb.

The featured performers include Ellington stalwarts Johnnie Hodges, Ray Nance, Harry Carney and Jimmy Hamilton, as well as the less familiar Booty Wood and Matthew Gee. Johnnie, in particular is well showcased here, taking the lead not only in slow pieces like Brown Penny and Sentimental Lady, but also in the rousing, Smada.

The full Analogue Productions reissue treatment is at work on this smashing LP - famed mastering engineer Bernie Grundman handled the remastering from the original analog tapes. The lacquers were plated and pressed at Quality Record Pressings, maker of the world's finest-sounding LPs. Lastly we've stashed each super-silent 200-gram disc in a premium Stoughton Printing gatefold jacket.

All of the takes were recorded during after midnight sessions recorded over two nights starting on December 2, 1959 in New York at Columbia Record's studio on East 30th Street. Each night Duke's late dinner arrived at 2 a.m. - a sizzling steak, a pot of coffee with lemons in it, portions of American cheese, and grapefruits. After dinner, and a breather for the band, the sessions finished around dawn in a swinging fashion.

If you're just getting into jazz, this album is highly recommended as a great way to initiate your collection. The sound is incredible, with packaging to match. Another audiophile home run.

Marnie Stern the album mirrors Marnie Stern, the woman. Birthed during a challenging period in her life, the self-titled album is a compendium of life stories both bitter and sweet. From ballads to her signature pop guitar-tapping style, Stern and long-time co-conspirator Zach Hill (Hella) have churned out (for lack of a better word) an enormous album that will further cement Stern as a rising star in today's progressive music landscape. Stern also enlists the bass talents of psych-rock Canadian musician Matthew Flegel (of the band Women) and up-and-coming mixer Lars Stalfors (Mars Volta, Funeral Party) resulting in Stern stepping up her sonic game and revealing a mature and more focused side of herself.
