Remastered Edition Of Master of Puppets On 180-Gram Vinyl

Remastered By Howie Weinberg At Howie Weinberg Mastering, Los Angeles CA

Vinyl Lacquer Cutting By Chris Bellman At Bernie Grundman Mastering, Los Angeles CA

One of the defining albums of thrash metal, the 1986 album Master of Puppets is arguably Metallica's best as well as their last with bassist Cliff Burton. Focusing on the concept of power and abuses thereof, this is a collection of complex, intelligent music, played at about a hundred miles an hour. The striding Battery, the darkly lit Welcome Home (Sanitarium), as well as the complex instrumental, Orion, all gave powerful testament to the band's ever-developing skill and vision. An album with lengthy arrangements (three songs came in at over eight minutes) and an overall eight song onslaught that clocks in at over an hour was unheard of in metal at the time and it confirmed that Metallica was at a different level, a legendary one!

    ...And Justice For All

Metallica's 1988 release, ...And Justice For All was the thrash metal giants' commercial breakthrough. It was their first album to reach the Top 10 (#6), first to earn a Top 40 single (One) and first to win a Grammy Award (One). ...And Justice For All went platinum in 9 weeks and today is certified eight times platinum in the U.S. alone. The album was also the band's first without original bassist Cliff Burton who passed away in 1986 when the band's tour bus overturned in Sweden while the band was on tour promoting Master of Puppets.

    Seasons In The Abyss

After staking out new territory with the underrated South of Heaven, Slayer brought back some of the pounding speed of Reign in Blood for their third major-label album, Seasons in the Abyss. Essentially, Seasons fuses its two predecessors, periodically kicking up the mid-tempo grooves of South of Heaven with manic bursts of aggression. War Ensemble and the title track each represented opposite sides of the coin, and they both earned Slayer their heaviest MTV airplay to date. In fact, Seasons in the Abyss is probably their most accessible album, displaying the full range of their abilities all in one place, with sharp, clean production. Since the band is refining rather than progressing or experimenting, Seasons doesn't have quite the freshness of its predecessors, but aside from that drawback, it's strong almost all the way from top to bottom (with perhaps one or two exceptions). Lyrically, the band rarely turns to demonic visions of the afterlife anymore, preferring instead to find tangible horror in real life -- war, murder, human weakness. There's even full-fledged social criticism, which should convince any doubters that Slayer aren't trying to promote the subjects they sing about. Like Metallica's Master of Puppets or Megadeth's Peace Sells...but Who's Buying, Seasons in the Abyss paints Reagan-era America as a cesspool of corruption and cruelty, and the music is as devilishly effective as ever.

    Hail Death

Blowing minds and eardrums since forming in 2007, BLACK ANVIL's third full-length album, aptly titled Hail Death, is their most epic and fully realized album to date. It's one of those rare releases that not only stays true to the band's roots but manages to transcend them in a way that works all of their seemingly disparate influences into an amalgam of heavy music that's as original as it is earth-shaking. The sonic fury was captured at Magpie Cage by J. Robbins of Jawbox, who, although best known for recording punk and post-hardcore acts, perfectly understood the band's creative vision. He's got a really good style of making records and I knew he would understand that we wanted to make this sound live and organic as opposed to tight and compressed, relays bassist/vocalist Paul Delaney, citing Kiss' Destroyer and Metallica's Master Of Puppets as inspiration. I wanted it to be a little more rock 'n' roll sounding because I felt the songs were a little bigger and structured. It tells a story from beginning to end and the recording reflects that. As such, the behemoth offering includes a bonus track: A BLACK ANVILed cover of Under The Rose from Kiss' iconic ninth studio recording, The Elder.

Hail Death wasn't an easy album to make and the band members' personal turmoil is reflected in every frenzied moment of the album. I went through a lot of stuff over the past year and it caused me to move and spend a year of my life in solitude, Delaney says, explaining that for twelve months he would sit in his room and pour all of his energy and inner chaos into these songs. This is our journey. I can honestly say that this is probably the most important thing I've ever done in my life, even if it never sees the light of day for some reason I'm insanely proud of it.

    Pleasure To Kill

Remastered Versions By Andy Pearce And Overseen By Mille Petrozza

    Featuring New Art

Packed With Rare Photos And Memorabilia And Notes By Mille And Malcolm Dome (Metal Hammer) Talking About The Creation Of The Albums

Contains Kreator's Flag Of Hate EP

Pleasure To Kill, the second studio album by Kreator, was released in November 1986 originally by Noise Records. The lyrical themes follow those found on their first album. Unleashed in 1986 and still considered the band's first classic album, Pleasure to Kill raised the bar with more diversity of tempos and greater attention to technical execution while losing nothing in terms of ferocity or speed. The band closed out the year with the Flag of Hate EP (named after a re-recorded version of their earliest hit) which is included on this version. Many death metal bands cite this album as an influence. Pleasure To Kill is widely considered a thrash classic. It is also considered a landmark album in the history of thrash metal along with Master of Puppets by Metallica, Reign In Blood by Slayer and Darkness Descends by Dark Angel, all released in 1986.

Formed in Essen, Germany in 1982, Kreator is arguably the most influential and successful European thrash metal band ever, like many of their European speed metal brethren, Kreator fused Metallica's thrash innovations with Venom's proto-black metal imagery. Kreator has been referred to as one of the Big 4 of Teutonic thrash metal, and they are often credited with helping pioneer death metal and black metal by containing several elements of what was to become those genres. The band has achieved worldwide sales of over two million units for combined sales of all their albums, making them one of the best-selling German thrash metal bands of all time. Kreator's style has changed several times over the years, from a Venom-inspired speed metal sound, later moving into thrash metal, and including a period of transitioning from thrash to industrial metal and gothic metal throughout the 1990s. In the early 2000s, Kreator returned to their classic thrash sound, which has continued to the present.

Master Of Puppets (Out Of Stock)

Ranked 167/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

An album with lengthly arrangements (three songs came in at over eight minutes) and an overall eight song onslaught that clocks in at over an hour was unheard of in metal at the time and it confirmed that Metallica was at a different level, a legendary one!
