Collection Of B-Sides And Unreleased Track From Their Last Three Albums
Minus The Bear will release their latest LP, Lost Loves, via Dangerbird Records. The seasoned Seattle, WA five piece will embark upon a
club tour this fall in support of the new album as well as the 10th anniversary re-release of their fan favorite EP, They Make Beer Commercials Like This.
For a band that routinely sells out 1000+ cap venues across the country, the small rooms scheduled for the coming dates will provide an intimate setting
for fans to experience the new album. Joining Minus The Bear on the road at various points are O'Brother, Young Widows, and Mansions, and on
September 20th they perform at the Sunset Strip Music Festival's main stage.
The follow up to Infinity Overhead, which reached #31 on the Billboard 200 as Minus The Bear's highest charting album to date, Lost Loves lives up to its
title quite literally as a collection of hard to let go songs pulled from the band's past seven odd years of writing, recording and releasing records. Inevitably
some of your favorite songs are going to be cut in the necessity of creating the right sequence for that particular time, says bassist Cory Murchy.
Regardless of the reason they weren't included, it wasn't for lack of love and appreciation of the songs themselves. Somewhat by chance the black
sheep that didn't quite fit in with Planet of Ice, OMNI, and Infinity Overhead coalesce among their once regretfully forsaken peers. Perhaps it's because
they didn't make the past albums that they fit so seamlessly together, muses Murchy.
That each song was out of place on more conceptual releases is a harbinger of what to expect from Lost Loves as a collection of compositions that
channel the essential essence of Minus The Bear's songwriting. Over the years the band has made a name for itself creating music as ear-catching as it
is resonant with fans of guitar athletics and progressive structures, wrote Consequence of Sound, and Lost Loves more than delivers on that promise. As
the band began metaphorically reaching out to the ones that got away from past sessions, additional recording and vocals were completed for select
tracks. As a whole, says Murchy, this collection of songs offers as strong a package as any other album we've put together.1. Electric Rainbow

Continental Obscura: From Birmingham to Bellingham (Book)
Exclusive 7" Vinyl Record Featuring Rare Unreleased B-Sides From Manchester Orchestra And Minus The Bear
Ryan is one of the greatest photographers working today." - Ben Gibbard (Death Cab For Cutie)
"Ryan is an exceptional talent." - Hayley Williams (Paramore)
Celebrated rock photographer Ryan Russell has announced plans to release his first travel photography book, "Continental Obscura: From Birmingham to Bellingham," via No Sleep Records.
Known best for his ability to brilliantly capture timeless photos of some of rock's biggest acts, from Death Cab For Cutie and Against Me! to Paramore and Blink-182, Russell recently tackled a different subject entirely for "Continental Obscura: From Birmingham to Bellingham." In the summer of 2013 he embarked on a life-changing, cross-country journey, moving from his native city of Birmingham, AL to the Pacific Northwest town of Bellingham, WA. Russell documented his trip, capturing the back roads, ghost towns, national parks and historical sites of America with stunning photos of everything he saw.
"Continental Obscura: From Birmingham to Bellingham" will also include an exclusive 7" vinyl record featuring rare unreleased B-sides from Manchester Orchestra and Minus the Bear, two bands that Russell has shot extensively over the last several years.
Ryan is one of those rare photographers that can truly put you at ease while he takes superb and entirely honest photos," says Cory Murchy of Minus the Bear. "A master at capturing the most fleeting and candid of moments, we always look forward to working with him so we were extremely honored to be asked to be apart of this project.1. VOIDSOn their sixth album VOIDS, Minus the Bear started with a blank slate, and inadvertently found themselves applying the same starting-from-scratch strategies that fueled their initial creative process.
Album opener Last Kiss immediately establishes the band's renewed fervor. An appropriately dizzying guitar line plunges into a propulsive groove before the chorus unfolds into a multi-tiered pop chorus. From there the album flows into Give & Take, a tightly wound exercise in syncopation that recalls the celebratory pulse of early Bear classics like Fine + 2 Pts while exploring new textures and timbres. Invisible is arguably the catchiest song of the band's career, with Jake Snider's vocal melodies and Knudson's imaginative guitar work battling for the strongest hooks. What About the Boat? reminds us of the math-rock tag that followed the band in their early years, with understated instrumentation disguising an odd-time beat. Erase, recalls the merging of forlorn indie pop and electronica that the band dabbled with on their early EPs, but demonstrates the Bear's ongoing melodic sophistication and tonal exploration. By the time the band reaches album closer Lighthouse, they've traversed so much sonic territory that the only appropriate tactic left at their disposal is a climactic crescendo, driven at its peak by Cory Murchy's thunderous bass.
Not since Planet of Ice's Lotus has the Bear achieved such an epic finale. All in all, it's an album that reminds us of everything that made us fall in love with Minus the Bear in the first place, and a big part of that appeal is the sense that the band is heading into uncharted territories.1. Dust And DisquietCaspian present Dust & Disquiet, the band's first full length since 2012. The band returned to Q Division Studios in Somerville, Massachusetts again with producer Matt Bayless (Mastodon, Minus The Bear, Isis) where they recorded the highly acclaimed Waking Season ("the Best Post-Rock Album of Year," said SPIN Magazine in 2012). The result showcases a maturation of the quiet/loud dynamic that Caspian has been exploring since their debut EP, You Are the Conductor. The new album reflects the many moods of post-rock from the album opener with horns and a string quartet ("Separation No. 2"), riffs on the wilder, steel-eyed side of country ("Rioseco"), all the while staying true to its epic brand of build-and-release rock ("Arcs of Command," "Dust & Disquiet").1. The SpadeSinger/songwriter/guitarist and producer Butch Walker started out as a member of acclaimed band Marvelous 3 and has since embarked on a solo career, with equal successes as both artist and producer. In addition to five studio albums released since 2002, he was named Producer of the Year by Rolling Stone in 2005.
Many of his songs have been hits for other artists, including Weezer's #1 Modern Rock smash If You're Wondering If I Want You To...(I Want You To), as well as Pink, Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne, Panic! At the Disco, Fall Out Boy and many others. Dragon MouthFollowing their split 7" with LA's Aeges released last October, Dust Moth now releases their debut EP, Dragon Mouth. A dense, layered genre-defying statement in six distinct movements. The band is comprised of current & former members of such influential bands as These Arms Are Snakes, Minus The Bear, Undertow, Aeges, and XVIII Individual Eyes. Taking the sound hinted at on their debut single "Toto", the band has upped the ante for themselves across the board. The songs are deceptively heavy while simultaneously lush with atmosphere, as Irene Barbaric's haunting croon floats effortlessly above it all. The album spans the emotional spectrum with some moments feeling unbearably morose and others feeling utterly triumphant. Few debut EPs sound this confident, this direct, or this special. Dragon Mouth was produced, recorded, and mixed by Matt Bayles, who is also a full time member of the band (keys). His resume is no secret, and includes such legendary bands as Isis, Mastodon, Botch, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and many more. It was then sent off to be mastered by Chris Common (Palms, Pelican, The Sword). The album will be released on March 25th via The Mylene Sheath.1. Pounding

For Madmen Only (Discontinued)White Colored Vinyl
Waxwing features Rocky Votolato (vocals/guitar) and brother Cody Votolato on guitar (Blood Brothers). Seattle-based Waxwing's debut full length, For Madmen Only, is a beautifully involved album of contrasting emotions set against the musical contradictions of both lush acoustic movements and propulsive dramatic rock. Musically, For Madmen Only's nine tracks transverse myriad rock landscapes (be it traditional rock, indie, folk or Americana), but with a sullen, repentant quality that stains these tracks with a morose, languid atmosphere perfectly echoed in singer/guitarist Rocky Votolato's brooding vocals and lyrics. One of For Madmen Only's greatest strengths is Votolato's golden crooning, which serves as both focal point and background for Waxwing's music, slipping into the foreground and back again with ease, as it's required. Waxwing's lilting dynamics takes the music from tender acoustic folk to somnambulant indie rock to restrained melodies that build to emotional climaxes and rock spasms, but always with a faltering push-pull theme laced throughout For Madmen Only. Sharing its members with The Blood Brothers, Bugs In Amber, as well as Votolato's solo endeavors has done nothing to diminish Waxwing's dramatic focus, and For Madmen Only is an exquisite, effecting debut. Recorded by Matt Bayles (MINUS THE BEAR, The Sword, Botch, ISIS, Cursive, Make Do and Mend, Murder City Devils, Mastodon, Blood Brothers). WHITE vinyl limited to 500 copies. PaintedWhile every bit as sonically vitriolic as their past endeavors, Painted attempts to focus its energy rather than lash out blindly. Songs like "Greenland" and "It's The Water" still weigh in with bottom-heavy instrumentation, but lyrically look towards brighter horizons. Though the band seeks to close the emotional divide it basked in on their debut, the primary meaning behind New Distances couldn't be more pertinent to the band's sophomore album. The U.S. Department of Immigration recently denied entry to Cox, forcing the recruitment of temporary guitarist Mark Holcomb (Aeges, Undertow, Shift) for Narrow's 2011 tour with Helms Alee. While the global nature of the band already limited their opportunities for touring, this additional roadblock further exacerbated the difficulties of writing and recording an album with members spread across the United Stated and Europe.
Despite the difficulties of recording across two hemispheres, Painted sounds like a band locked into a singular vision. Matt Bayles (Mastodon, ISIS, Minus The Bear) recorded the album at Red Room Studios with Cox's guitar overdubs tracked by Wayne Pennell at Bunker Studios in Brentford, England during late night Skype sessions with the stateside members of the band. Due in part to the constraints of time and distance, Painted is a streamlined record. With eight songs clocking in at just over 27 minutes, the album wastes no time exorcising its demons. And while part of New Distances' allure stemmed from it's marriage of primal metallic hardcore with the effects-laden art rock approach of guitarists Cox and Frederiksen, Painted harnesses power from curtailing more of their experimental moments in favor of big meaty riffs and voracious tempos.1. Errant FormsIncludes a Copy of the CD in Jacket as Well as a Pair of 3D Glasses to View the Cover.
In February of 2009 Ladyfinger released their sophomore effort Dusk. The album bridged three decades of influence, mixing early 70's classic rock with punk and hardcore of the late 80's and early 90's. This unique fusion gained them praise (Pitchfork called Dusk's lead single 'Little Things' "all power and momentum and baldface 70's classic-rock glory") and a pack of new fans.
After a brief time away and a lineup change, Ladyfinger (ne) began playing shows on and off in early 2010. The shows went well and by the summer of 2011 the band was revisiting unfinished songs from the Dusk sessions and writing new tracks. In May of 2012 the band found itself at ARC studios in Omaha once again recording with their longtime producer Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Minus the Bear, Isis).
Upon listening to the ten songs found on Errant Forms it's clear that the music was indeed there. Their signature mix of classic rock bombast and punk grit is back on display here in standout tracks "Galactic" and "Poison For Hire", while "Birds" paints an ominous vision of atonement over subtle guitars that slowly build until absolution is realized with the pounding drums and organ that emerge at the song's climax. Lead single "Dark Horse" is an ode to escapism that stands out for being as solemn as it is anthemic. Errant Forms adds a new level of musical nuance and lyrical breadth to Ladyfinger's already dynamic sound.1. Renew

I Am GeminiI Am Gemini is the surreal and powerful musical tale of Cassius and Pollock, twin brothers separated at birth. One good and one evil, their unexpected reunion in a house that is not a home ignites a classic struggle for the soul, played out with a cast of supporting characters that includes a chorus of angels and devils, and twin sisters conjoined at the head.
Recorded in the Summer/Fall of 2011 at Omaha, NEs ARC Studios and mixed at Red Room in Seattle, WA with producer Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Minus The Bear, Isis), I Am Gemini marks the first time front man Tim Kasher, holding the completed story already in mind, wrote album lyrics in a linear fashion, in order, from start to finish. The result is thirteen singularly cohesive song chapters that blend effortlessly into one unique narrative. The moody and playfully sinister I Am Gemini is Cursives musically heaviest in years, with alternately muscular and angular guitars, pounding drums and driving bass.
From the eerie introductory sounds of epic barnstormer This House Alive and the irresistibly catchy, insistent The Sun and Moon, to the searing Double Dead and the split personality prog-pop of Twin Dragon/Hello Skeleton, to the roaring, mournful closing track Eulogy for No Name, the album is a dynamic, mind-bending, and imaginative ride.
Cursive is the longtime trio of Tim Kasher (vocals, guitar), Matt Maginn (bass), and Ted Stevens (guitar, vocals), with Patrick Newbery (keys) and Cully Symington (drums). I Am Gemini, the bands seventh LP, is the follow-up to 2009s critically praised Mama, Im Swollen.1. This House Alive
