Good StuffSince Eric Bibb's breakthrough with the Opus 3 recording Spirit & The Blues in the autumn of 1994, a great deal has happened in Bibb's life. In the spring of 1996 he was an outstanding success at the London Blues Festival and was as equally well received in Canada at the Vancouver Folk & Blues Festival. Both occasions were shared by slide guitarist Göran Wennerbrandt who also produced Good Stuff.
Good Stuff features the same musicians who contributed to the success of Spirit & The Blues, including the gospel quartet The Deacons. Bibb wrote ten of the fourteen songs himself, with credits shared on three of the others and the remaining instrumental Blacksmith Island was written by the band Needed Time. In style, the album has retained the musical breadth of Spirit & The Blues while being a little more bluesy in feeling. Also included are the radio singles Shingle By Shingle and Good Stuff.

Good NaturePressed On Colored Vinyl
Frontman Austin Getz doesn't blink when asked to sum up Turnover's third full-length, Good Nature. Learning, he replies. This whole record is about learning. Opening your eyes to new things, going out- side of your comfort zone, and learning to grow into something new. The album's unique blend of musical and spiritual growth is immediately audible on the opening track, Super Natural, a late-summer idyll of intertwined guitar parts and laidback vocals. Listening to how the leisurely Nightlight Girl melts into a more propulsive selection like Breeze, and the way Good Nature flows together as a seamless whole, it's also evident that the foursome has been paying closer attention to how artists from earlier eras made full-length albums: the range of textures, tempos, and dynamics on Good Nature are influenced in part by bossa nova, cool jazz, electronic music, and psychedelic grooves. This influx of new influences and inspiration, navigated by Peripheral Vision producer Will Yip, results in the band's best album to date. Good Nature comes from a place of calm and contentment, nurtured by looking inward.1. Super Natural

Good Times!Who's ready to have some fun with The Monkees as they celebrate their 50th anniversary? With a tour kicking off in May and the group's first new album in 20 years, GOOD TIMES!, releasing, Monkee-mania will be taking 2016 by storm!
GOOD TIMES! features all three surviving band members - Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, and Peter Tork. The unmistakable voice of the late Davy Jones is also included with a vintage vocal featured on one song. To produce the new album, the band found the perfect musical co-conspirator in Grammy® and Emmy®-winning songwriter Adam Schlesinger (Fountains Of Wayne, Ivy).
Much like The Monkees' early albums, GOOD TIMES! features tracks written specifically for the band by some of the music world's most gifted songwriters, including Rivers Cuomo (Weezer), Ben Gibbard (Death Cab For Cutie), Andy Partridge (XTC), and Zach Rogue (Rogue Wave) as well as a song co-written by Noel Gallagher and Paul Weller. The album also includes songwriting contributions by Nesmith ("I Know What I Know") and Tork as well as producer Schlesinger.
To help bring the anniversary full circle, The Monkees completed songs for GOOD TIMES! that were originally recorded and written for the group during the 60s, including "Love To Love" by Neil Diamond, which features a vintage vocal by Jones. Harry Nilsson wrote the title track "Good Times," which he recorded at a session with Nesmith in January 1968. The production was never completed, so the band returned to the original session tape (featuring Nilsson's guide vocal) and have created a duet with his close friend Dolenz. "Good Times" will mark the first time Dolenz and Nilsson have sung together since Dolenz' May 1973 single "Daybreak." Other vintage 1960's tracks included on GOOD TIMES! feature L.A.'s famed "Wrecking Crew" of session musicians.
"This is one of the most exciting Monkee projects I've been involved in for decades!" says Dolenz. "Working with Adam Schlesinger has been a pure delight and the opportunity to sing a duet with my old buddy, Harry Nilsson, is just beyond cool!"1. Good Times

Good GriefFrom collaborating with the likes of Tweedy and David Byrne, to becoming such a part of the Newport Folk Festival family that they were asked to back up Roger Waters during this year's incredible headlining performance, the last two years have been the best in the Lucius' career. Now, the Brooklyn band is prepping to keep the good times going with the release of their latest LP, Good Grief.
Arriving via Mom + Pop Music, Good Grief was produced by Shawn Everett (Alabama Shakes, Weezer) and Bob Ezrin, along with the band themselves. The 11 tracks see the singer-songwriter duo of Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig exploring the emotions of "loneliness, sadness and exhaustion alongside excitement, fulfillment and some of the most joyful moments in our lives" that they experienced while touring behind their last record. "Whenever one of us had an idea or a feeling," Wolfe said in a press release, "the other was already a witness to it and could help navigate through it - for the two of us, this usually came in song form."

Good Thing80's Icon - Paul Young Returns With His First Album In 20 years - Good Thing
Paul remembered for his Billboard Top 10 Hit - Everytime You Go Away, his Gold selling album 'The Secret Of Association' & performance at Live Aid. He was one of the biggest stars of the era, on both sides of the Atlantic.
Executive producer and partner in the 'Good Thing' project is world renowned Arthur Baker, best known for his work with hip hop artists like Afrika Bambaataa & Planet Patrol, crossover pop acts New Order and the Pet Shop Boys, here he channels some of his later work with Al Green. The album is a collection of classic soul covers and sees Paul return to the soulful roots sound that catapulted him to worldwide fame.
Stemming from Memphis soul as a starting point; which is why Stax Records (a major factor in the creation of Southern and Memphis Soul) feature so heavily on this new album. From Al Green's 'L-O-V-E', The Staple Singer's 'Touch A Hand, Make A Friend' and Syl Johnson's 'Back For A Taste Of Your Love', & Jonnie Taylor's 'I Believe In You' - 'Good Thing' is, in Paul's opinion, the cream of soul in one collection:
"This album is a labor of love, my soulful dream realized for everyone to now share," states Paul. "I've carefully selected and re-recorded some of the most beautiful, iconic and rare soul tracks of all time and I hope people enjoy this album as much as I've loved creating it."1. L-O-V-E (Love)

Good Will Hunting...the soundtrack to Good Will Hunting doesn't strive for fake urban cool; this film about white, working-class Bostonians gets a mostly white, working-class sound. The soundtrack effectively mirrors the half-filled desires and lives that the film capitalizes on: restlessness, ennui, doubt, and unrequited love rule here. Elliot Smith contributes the most, and the best, songs, beautiful weepers that outshine Danny Elfman's somber original score, which makes only a few appearances. --Alan E. Rapp1. As Good As DeadLocal H will dig into their back catalog and release their breakthrough album As Good As Dead on 180 gram vinyl via srcvinyl. This re-issue marks the first time that the album will ever be available in this format. The high-quality, double LP will have a premium gatefold jacket and insert.
As Good As Dead, Local H's second full-length album, was produced by Steven Haigler (Quicksand, Pixies) and was originally released on April, 16, 1996 on Island Records on CD and cassette. The record was the band's first foray into making a concept album and is centered around life in a dead-end, small town. Venerable rock critic Robert Christgau gave the album a stellar A- review in the Village Voice, writing, at the time, "...I wish Pearl Jam, whose leader stars in the title song, packed such isometric power -- that sense of tremendous force bravely exerted against implacable reality -- and I say the exercise makes all of us stronger."
"The question I get asked the absolute most is when are we gonna put the older records out on vinyl?" says Local H frontman, Scott Lucas. "Here's the answer -- in the best possible way. The package is looking pretty good and I'm ALMOST as excited as anybody to finally drop the needle on this album -- on double vinyl, at last."
As Good As Dead spawned four modern rock radio hits including the above-referenced "Eddie Vedder," "Fritz's Corner," "High-Fivin' MF" and "that copacetic song" -- "Bound for the Floor," a track that remains a staple on alternative radio station playlists around the the country two decades later. The band made videos for each of the singles.
Local H, whose members during this time period were Lucas and original drummer Joe Daniels, toured the U.S. non-stop for two years after As Good As Dead was released, headlining their own small and large club shows; opening for Silverchair in bigger venues and Stone Temple Pilots in even bigger arenas (including Madison Square Garden in New York and Rosemont Horizon in Chicago); and performing to audiences of thousands at radio station festivals across the the country, including 1997's HFStival at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC. For The Good TimesI love playing country music, says Norah Jones. More than any other genre, it makes me feel at home. Over the past 10 years, The Little Willies, a group of friends and like-minded souls that includes Lee Alexander (bass), Jim Campilongo (guitar), Norah Jones (piano, vocals), Richard Julian (guitar, vocals), and Dan Rieser (drums), have periodically gathered to make music for fun, playing their favorite country tunes and conjuring that down-home spirit.
With their second album, For the Good Times, The Little Willies take on songs by such masters as Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Dolly Parton. The results demonstrate the joy they take, and commitment they make, to a project that was first born for purely practical reasons.
Material for the new album was taken from the Willies live repertoire, and by passing around ideas drawn from disparate sources. The selections include more surprising choices, like the trucker classic Diesel Smoke, Dangerous Curves and Foul Owl on the Prowl, from the soundtrack to In the Heat of the Night. Alongside the more obscure songs, though, For the Good Times also includes some of the best-known songs in the history of country music, like Partons Jolene and the title track, written by Kristofferson and made famous by such singers as Ray Price and Al Green.1. Good Morning HarakiriSomething about Dwellers sounds oddly familiar, but it's hard to put your finger on it until the Salt Lake City group's debut, Good Morning Harakiri, really gets a head of steam going. Could it be the presence of previously known personages like former Iota vocalist/guitarist Joey Toscano, or Sub Rosa alums Dave Jones (bass) and Zach Hatsis (drums)? Nah, too obscure all around, so it's gotta be the neo-psych qualities of these songs, which at different times recall everyone from Dead Meadow, to Truly, to SST-era Soundgarden. You know what we're talking about: that period when post-punk lysergic vibes ran far deeper than the subliminal metal influences bubbling just beneath the surface, even on more insistent numbers like Black Bird and the intriguingly titled Ode to the Inversion Layer. Toscano's wah-wah-lovin' geetar also conjures up old-school Screaming Trees on the extended jam Vultures, where the long-term working relationship between his rhythm peers definitely comes in handy -- as it does on the slow-crawling, pent-up tension of closer Old Honey, featuring echoed vocals in the Sons of Otis wheelhouse. Another cut, the punchy Lightning Ritual, shows unusual restraint and succinctness, so at least we know Dwellers can accomplish such feats of self-editing, if they so wish. But something tells us to expect an even wackier acid trip next time around, if Good Morning Harakiri turns out to yield a sequel, in contrast with the finality of its title.

The Good LifeThree years ago, Michael Gardner sold his bass and bought a drum kit. Pierre Moore bought a cheap microphone and plugged it into a practice amp. Like their good ol' days growing up in Jackson, Mississippi, they were playing the blues! Within weeks of forming their two-piece juke group, they met Ryan Lynn. The friendship came immediately and once Ryan picked up the bass, the music quickly followed. By combining musical elements from the genres they loved, the songs poured out in an inspired fury. Only three months after meeting, they chose the name of the folkloric slave hero, John The Conqueror, and took to the stage in Philadelphia, playing their own blend of the southern rock from their childhoods, the punk of their adolescence, and the blues and soul they had always held closely. Entirely written by Pierre Moore, with the exception of a notable cover ("Let's Burn Down The Cornfield"), "The Good Life" is the follow up to the band's self-titled debut album released in 2012 on Alive. It is a collection of vignettes from Pierre's childhood in Mississippi and tales of his life in the streets of a Philly project, where the three friends currently live.1. Get 'Em

Good Luck CharmAlready recognized for their critically-lauded 2012 debut album Birds Fly South, Austin, TX-based husband-wife duo The Mastersons are now "poised to be one of Austin's breakout acts in 2014 " (Austin American Statesman). While they are seasoned songwriters and virtuosic multi-instrumentalists in their own right, they have also become integral members of Steve Earle's band The Dukes, having been featured on Earle's The Low Highway and playing hundreds of shows with Earle for the better part of 3 years.
During a break between tours, the duo recorded their sophomore album Good Luck Charm with noted producer/engineer Jim Scott (Tom Petty, Wilco, The Dixie Chicks). The new collection raises the stakes with 11 emotionally precise songs that are firmly rooted in sometimes-harsh reality, yet which radiate faith and optimism. While Good Luck Charm is their second album together, in many ways it's their first full-on collaboration. All of the songs were co-written by Chris and Eleanor, giving the material added depth as well as a powerful collective lyrical identity that's matched by their expressive harmonies.1. Good Times AheadAfter years of cultivating songs, mixes and remixes, and overall vibes for festivals and tours, Matt Toth and Julio Mejia - better known as GTA (short for GOOD TIMES AHEAD) - will release their full length debut Good Times Ahead via Warner Brothers.
Featuring Tinashe, Vince Staples, Tungi Ige, Iamsu, Wax Motif, What So Not and more, the long-waited debut is a testament to their multiple influences and highlights their eclectic production ear.
For the last few years we've been feeling like things have been getting repetitive. We've always had goals of ascending beyond the festival bangers we're known for, so around a year ago we set out to create a body of work that reflected our depth and growth as producers, they explained to The FADER.
We've always had bigger aspirations than just the dance space which came hand in hand with our 'Death To Genres' mentality. To us, music was more about what made you move rather than what type of music was playing. With this album we're able to explore all facets of music that we love, flip the script and bring everything together into one fluid album that we're really proud of.1. True Romance (feat. Life Is GoodThe social and political awareness that drives Flogging Molly's music is never more prominent than in their upcoming new release LIFE IS GOOD - a strikingly powerful album and it arrives at a strikingly key time. The sixth studio album by the renowned Celtic-punk rockers now in their 20th year is mature, well crafted, equally polished and almost aggressively topical. It is filled with rousing songs that are timeless in their sentiment, but directly related to today's most pressing concerns: Politics, the economy, unemployment, planned boomtowns gone bust, immigration policies gone awry, and much more.
For singer and lyricist Dave King, it may be the lyrical couplet contained within the surging "Reptiles (We Woke Up") that points toward the album's central theme. "We woke up," sings King, "And we won't fall back asleep."
"The thing is, there are things changing," says King. "That's why I wrote that line, 'Like reptiles, we'll all soon be dust someday.' It's quite scary, especially for somebody who has children these days--bringing up family in this environment of who's welcome and who's not welcome. I'm talking about the cultures in America and the UK--especially American immigration.
Life Is Good thus serves as a wake-up call to those who have simply stood by while far-reaching political decisions were made that had a serious impact on them. And, significantly, it also serves as notice that the time for action is now.
And people are indeed taking action, adds King, which is a crucial point.
"I think especially with things like government--I think we all tend to fall asleep a little bit when it comes to other people that are making decisions for you. I think we should be the ones influencing the government to make these decisions. It's a great thing that we're now taking to the streets again. And it's a positive thing."
Imagery abounds on Life Is Good, and one of the most memorable images might be found in "Adamstown," the saga of a planned community west of Dublin that came to a halt in mid-construction a decade ago when the Irish economy crashed--and left little more than a ghost town in its place.
"It had a huge negative connotation to it," King says of the eerie, unfinished settlement. "But now it's starting to turn again, people are starting to move there, businesses are starting to open, and there is hope."
Thematically, hope and inspiration are a major part of "The Hand of John L. Sullivan," a rollicking track about the legendary "Boston Strong Boy" who was the first ever heavyweight champion of gloved boxing from 1882-1892. Sullivan was a hero to many, and his story has a cultural significance that fits squarely within the story Flogging Molly want to tell with Life Is Good.
"He came from an immigrant family to Boston, and they brought their family over to try to make the best possible world for them," says King. "We live in an environment right now where that doesn't seem to be what should be allowed to happen, you know?
Recorded in Ireland and produced by multiple Grammy Award-winner Joe Chiccarelli (U2, the White Stripes, Beck), Life Is Good is by any measure a formidable return from Flogging Molly, an assessment with which Dave King fully agrees.
"It's been a tough few years for a lot of us in the band. Dennis (Casey, guitarist) lost his dad, I lost my mother, and there have been certain issues, pertaining to sentiment, in a lot of the songs. But we just try to do the best we can. We've always had fun getting together and coming up with the new songs, and it's still that way.
Here we see what's uniquely distinctive about Life is Good, as the gravity and weight of these themes never overshadow the sheer fun and exuberance felt in each song. For the message is delivered and built on the backs of boisterous and barreling live touring.
"We're known for our live shows," says Dave King. Writing albums has always been a vehicle for us -- it's been a means to get people onto the dance floor. And that's kind of the way we've always approached it, no matter what."
"The one thing we are is a positive band," adds Dave King. "When people come and see our shows, it's a celebration--of life, of the good and of the bad. And we have to take the good and the bad for it to be a life."1. There's Nothing Left Pt. 1
