GoMotion City Soundtrack have built their fanbase one fan at a time, through breakout tours with All American Rejects and Fallout Boy, on the 2006 Warped Tour and mtvU's Campus Invasion, and at festivals like Bamboozle and Lollapalooza. They have appeared on Conan O'Brien and Jimmy Kimmel, earned glowing press from Rolling Stone to Entertainment Weekly, and received solid support at MTV, FUSE, and MTV2.
Now Motion City Soundtrack are in the midst of a career renaissance as they return to their longtime label Epitaph to release Go, the most mature and developed album of their 14year career. Continuing a dichotomy between upbeat music and darker lyricism that stretches back to their breakout single "The Future Freaks Me Out," Go sees the band both maturing lyrically and musically while reinvigorating the signature melodic, keyboarddriven sound that their longtime fans love.
Despite the fullcircle musical evolution they've undergone with Go, the band members agree that in some ways they feel like the same way they did when Motion City Soundtrack was starting to make their mark in the early 2000s.1. Circuits And Wires

Natural MotionOther Colors is an exploratory pop group from Baltimore comprised of longtime collaborators William Ryerson and Daniel Whatley, with a rotating cast of characters.
A historic blizzard in Baltimore back in 2010 played prominently in the early history of the band. With the city shut down for almost two weeks, Ryerson took the opportunity to write a droney, catchy set of songs on a broken electric guitar, layering sounds overtop on an old four-track. The results, captured on a self-titled EP released a year later, set a course for the group's future pop ambitions: a skewed, lo-fi miniature of greater things to come.
Their proper debut album, Free Thoughts, was recorded in 2012 by Dan Frome (Big Ups, Expert Alterations). A more polished and recognizably rock affair, it features contributions from notable musicians including Jenn Wasner (Wye Oak) and Dave Jacober (Dope Body). Released on their own Genpop imprint in early 2013, the album incorporates introspective folk-rock moods and atmospheric production into a set of memorable songs. To follow up, they recorded a two-song seven-inch with Chester Endersby Gwazda (Future Islands, Dan Deacon) that more accurately captured the band's dreamy live sound.
The band is now preparing to release their second album Natural Motion, recorded and mixed throughout 2015 at Beat Babies by Chris Freeland (Lower Dens, Wye Oak). This new album draws stylistic inspiration from forgotten AM radio hits and the smoother side of krautrock, conjuring tender soft-rock vibes through the fractured lens of contemporary underground pop. Filled with imaginative arrangements and first-rate songcraft, Natural Motion is a major step forward for the group: a lush, fully realized sound experience with abundant melodic treasures waiting to be uncovered.1. Perpetual Motion PeoplePerpetual Motion People was recorded with Furman's current band The Boyfriends - comprising Jorgen Jorgensen (bass), Ben Joseph (keyboards, guitar), Sam Durkes (drums) and saxophonist Tim Sandusky - at studio Ballistico in Furman's home city of Chicago (though he's currently based in San Francisco). The album kicks off with 'Restless Year', about which Consequence Of Sound described as, "a ball of energy, bouncing around genre borders with glee. There's the rebellion of '90s indie rock, a string of sunshine-y '80s pop, and the snarl of '70s punk."
"The opening lines of my records tend to be summary statements," says Furman. "Every year has been restless, physically and even more internally." Hence the title Perpetual Motion People, "That's who it was made by and that's who it's for. People who feel they can never settle. I'm restless in most aspects. I don't tend to live in one place for long. I am always changing the way I present my gender. My religious life is intensely up and down in terms of observance and personal convictions. I've always viewed the idea of truth itself as something wobbly, always slipping out of our grasp. That's what the songs are about: a head that is haunted, a society I cannot join, a lover who is perpetually in the act of leaving. A central idea is the fugitive or runaway, in a hideout built in the midst of an unfriendly or alienated world."
"The other aspect is a feeling of expansiveness, the largeness of emotion, from joy to pain. Some people think life is small or confined, but to me it's just big, and I'd say each song has something to say, to declare themselves large. It's also to do with trying to make something that a lot of people would listen to after Day Of The Dog got some kind of increased attention."
In that, he's done his job, switching from the sinewy jubilance of 'Hark! To The Music' to the wistful heart-ache of 'Ordinary Life', from the power-pop snarl of 'Tip Of The Match' to the wracked country blues of "One Day I Will Sin No More". The waterfront covered marks Furman out as a true original, tapping avenues of music that most others have left alone, or wouldn't have the guts to emulate. "There's rarely been a scene that I've wanted to be part of," he admits. "I'm just not hearing other stuff out there that I wish existed, so that's my goal, to do it myself.
Ultimately, Furman declares, life in perpetual motion is, "a good way to be. If you are never on a sure footing you don't get bored and the world is always new. It causes a lot of pain as well, but it seems worth it, and it is probably the only way I know how to be."1. Restless Year

CBGB: Original Motion Picture SoundtrackWATCH OUT! PUNK IS COMING!
By the end of 1973, New York City was bankrupt, Watergate had compromised the credibility of the U.S. government, and the Carpenters were the bestselling
young recording act in America. Rock 'n' roll was dead!
Enter Hilly Kristal, who dreamed of running a country & blues bar in the Bowery. Instead, the club he opened, CBGB (Country, Bluegrass, Blues) became
the birthplace of punk and underground music. CBGB was the modern-day salon for the disenfranchised youth of New York City and Kristal gave these
young local bands a stage. Artists such as the Talking Heads, Blondie, Patti Smith, Ramones, Dead Boys and Television all started at this iconic club.
The story of Hilly Kristal and his legendary club will be coming to theaters this October when CBGB hits the big screen. The film has an all-star ensemble cast headed by Alan Rickman (the Harry Potter series, Die Hard) who plays Kristal. Co-starring with Rickman will be Malin Akerman (The Proposal,Suburgatory), Ryan Hurst (Sons Of Anarchy), Ashley Greene (The Twilight series), Johnny Galecki (The Big Bang Theory), Stana Katic (Castle) and
Rupert Grint (the Harry Potter series).
Omnivore Recordings is proud to present CBGB: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on CD and naturally, double-LP (with first pressing on translucent
pink vinyl). An essential collection of songs that made the punk movement, CBGB presents twenty slices of original American music, many rarely
compiled or unavailable for years. The soundtrack contains music from influential artists that informed the scene (The Velvet Underground, The Stooges
and MC5), to acts that broke through with huge commercial acclaim (Talking Heads, Blondie and The Police). And there's even music from bands whose
legendary status will forever be linked to the club that gave them a voice (Dead Boys, Television. Wayne County, The Dictators and more).

Epic Soundtrax and Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Cameron Crowe's groundbreaking romantic comedy, "Singles," with the release of a newly expanded and remastered edition of the Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack album.
The 2xLP edition features the album's original 13 tracks newly mastered and freshly pressed across four sides of collectible 12 vinyl. The bonus CD of rarities and unreleased tracks is included as a special insert in the 2xLP 12 vinyl package.
The newly released bonus CD features previously unreleased recordings by Chris Cornell, Mike McCready, Mudhoney, and Paul Westerberg in addition to rarities such as Cornell's 1992 EP Poncier (debuting an early rendition of "Spoonman") and tracks from the film not included on the best-selling soundtrack album first released on June 30, 1992. The success of "Singles" helped establish a then-emerging new generation of rock artists-including 2017 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden-as musical forces to be reckoned with.
The expanded edition of the "Singles" soundtrack includes, for the first time on CD, "Touch Me I'm Dick," the signature track from "Singles" performed by Citizen Dick (a fictional band created for the film featuring frontman Matt Dillon backed by Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament).
The new Epic Soundtrax/Legacy Recordings edition of the Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack includes liner notes-and a track-by-track description of the album's music-written for especially for this collection by Cameron Crowe, the screenwriter and director of "Singles." The newly expanded edition of the film's soundtrack is produced by Danny Bramson and Cameron Crowe and mastered by Mike Piacentini at Battery Studios, New York.
Set in Seattle at the beginning of the 1990s, Crowe's film featured music by relatively obscure (at that time) bands like Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden, providing an introduction to an emerging grunge rock music scene for a welcoming mainstream audience. The film became a cult classic while the soundtrack achieved RIAA double platinum status in the US.
A romantic comedy capturing the zeitgeist of an era, "Singles" helped define the look, sound, attitude and style of Generation X with a fresh-faced ensemble cast featuring Bridget Fonda, Campbell Scott, Kyra Sedgwick, Matt Dillon, Bill Pullman, Sheila Kelly, Jim True-Frost, James LeGros, Ally Walker, Jeremy Piven, Eric Stoltz, Tim Burton and more.
Crowe's groundbreaking film chronicling the lives of Seattle's twentysomethings touched a nerve in the culture while the movie's best-selling soundtrack-with tracks from new artists and classic rockers-provided a critical overview of the roots of grunge and the essential contributions of Seattle rock. Alongside new songs like Alice In Chains' "Would?" and Pearl Jam's "Breath" and "State of Love and Trust" stood the Jimi Hendrix Experience's "May This Be Love" and a breathtaking cover of Led Zeppelin's "The Battle of Evermore" performed by The Lovemongers (a musical side project created by Heart's Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson).
The first edition of the Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack was originally released on June 30, 1992 and became a chart-topping best-seller three months prior to the theatrical release of the film. The soundtrack included music from key bands from the Seattle music scene-including Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden-while Paul Westerberg, in his first solo recordings outside The Replacements-contributed two songs and provided the score for the film. Smashing Pumpkins were also featured on the soundtrack with the song "Drown."
"The album itself was always designed to be sort of an anti-soundtrack, more like a souvenir and a simple mix-tape of some of Seattle's finest," said Cameron Crowe. "It really is and was a tribute to those hard-working bands that welcomed me to their city with open arms, and the music so many still love so much. Anyway, here we are now revisiting 'Singles,' the film, as well as the soundtrack you hold in your hands, expanded with a special tip of the hat to the fans of the original release. Included are unreleased and raw elements that helped shape the experience of making the movie back in 1991. Hope you enjoy the trip back as much as I did - Viva Seattle!"
25 years ago, the film "Singles" and its soundtrack worked together to bring the underground Seattle music scene to the forefront of mainstream consciousness. The album was among the first top-selling movie soundtracks of the 1990s to showcase new material from emerging contemporary bands. The expanded edition of Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is cause to celebrate anew the radical rock sounds that radiated out of the American Northwest a quarter century ago and changed pop music forever.LP 1

I'll Never Get Out Of This World AliveSteve Earle is set to release Ill Never Get Out Of This World Alive via New West Records. The album is the anticipated follow up to the Grammy Award winning 2009 release Townes. The 11- track set was produced by T Bone Burnett and is Earles first collection of original material since his 2007 Grammy Award winning, Washington Square Serenade.
Writing for Ill Never Get Out Of This World Alive began three years ago, the longest span of any song cycle in Steve Earles career. The first two compositions were God Is God and I Am A Wanderer, two songs written by Earle for Joan Baez 2008 album, Day After Tomorrow (which Earle also produced). The album also includes the celebrated song This City, written for the HBO Original Series, Treme, which Earle also appeared in as an actor. This year, Earle will be reprising his role of Harley during many episodes of Tremes second season.
This City features horn arrangements by Allen Toussaint and has garnered a Grammy Award Nomination in the Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media Category. Additionally, the song also garnered Earles first Emmy Award nomination in the Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics Category. Live From Austin, TX (David Byrne)David Byrne is a modern renaissance man - and that's not just a clichÉ. From the heady days as co-founder of the celebrated art new wave group Talking Heads (1976-88) through his own constantly evolving and innovative solo music career, he has pursued his muse on many different artistic fronts. He's been the driving force behind a body of work that has been both intellectually daring and commercially successful...and he shows no signs of slowing down decades later. This show, captured on November 28, 2001, came on the heels of his hit single, "Like Humans Do" and the release of the album Look Into The Eyeball, which was another typically eclectic musical stew reflecting a variety of styles and influences, from Philly soul to a D.C. Go-Go inspired groove and his first-ever Spanish composition, "Desconocido Soy." Critics at the time called it his best work in years, and his performance on the Austin City Limits stage shows why. Joined by Austin's own eclectic tango ensemble Tosca, Byrne takes us down many different musical roads in his ACL debut. Of course, besides the brilliant songwriter and performer that he is, he's also an accomplished performance artist, photographer, web journalist, film writer/director, composer of motion picture soundtracks, and founder of his own world music label, Luaka Bop Records. He also has a collection of Grammys, Oscars and Golden Globes on his mantel. His music may be complex and poetic, but he makes no bones about his ultimate intent: "I want to move people to dance and cry at the same time.

ADAD-TEM-6117xExplosions In The Sky
The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead PlaceExplosions in the Sky's second effort takes a more studied, even lush approach to the literate chaos of their 2001 debut. But put on your sad sack thinking cap now, because Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place is a contemplative and heady rush of masterful melancholia. Its six songs are multi-minute, slow motion workouts of gentle electric guitar plucks and subtle/sudden washes of percussion ù they're still instrumental, but as lyrical as anything in the indie rock universe. 'Only Moment We Were Alone' turns on a simple, melancholy guitar figure, the drums shifting from insistent catch-up mode to a studied march built to introduce the next layered crescendo. Explosions in the Sky doesn't shift as suddenly or jarringly on Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place; the quartet has applied more structural predictability this time out, but is still quick about setting the sad butterflies in your stomach to fluttering. 'Memorial' is the album's meditative heart. It begins so quietly, reduced to brittle landscapes of tone. Lightly chiming guitars drift in, like the echoes of church bells off in narrow city streets. Then, like each of the album's movements, it surges forward in a rush, like the overtures of Sonic Youth separated, dried, and ultimately lengthened in the blistering Texas sun. The final blast of distortion and staccato drumming is Earth at full bittersweet bluster. 'Your Hand in Mine' ends things as they began, with a pair of determined guitars picking out a melody that's both pretty and pretty damn heartbreaking.First Breath After Coma

Stille, and Skinny DeVille) first made a name for themselves with their two independently released collections - 1998's COUNTRY FRIED CESS and and 1999's NO COMB, NO BRUSH, NO FADE, NO PERM - as well as with live shows alongside such hip-hop stars as Digital Underground, Youngbloods, Jim Crowes, 112, Cashmoney Millionaire, 8 Ball, Ruffryders, MJG, Sole, and Twista. In addition, the group scored with their version of Riches To Rags (Mmmkay), which was featured on Atlantic's 1999 release, MUSIC FROM AND INSPIRED BY THE MOTION PICTURE - SOUTH PARK: BIGGER, LONGER & UNCUT.
Now, with their long-awaited Atlantic Records debut, WATERMELON, CHICKEN, AND GRITZ, Nappy Roots are ready to spread their unique sound and vision from coast to coast. The group's organically funky hip-hop stylings blend serious lyrical science and Dirty South grooves, notably on tracks like the ruminating Life's A Risk and the block-rockin' party anthem, Ballin On A Budget. Produced by such esteemed hip-hop studio whizes as Carlos Broady (The Notorious B.I.G., Lil' Kim, Black Rob, India.Aire), Mike City (Sunshine Anderson, Bilal), the Trackboyz (Abyss), Jazze Pha (Ludacris, Too $hort), and Troy Johnson (Ray-J, Lil' Mo), WATERMELON, CHICKEN, AND GRITZ is likely to propel Nappy Roots to the forefront of modern hip-hop and beyond.

Summer HouseSummer House is the debut album from Gold Motel, the new project from Greta Morgan (The Hush Sound) and members of This is Me Smiling. The ten tracks herewithin are snapshots of dreaming, transient youth in constant motion, driving down desert highways, watching fireworks from the boardwalk, wandering the city in an endless summer but in the end always searching for the safety of home, friends and love. Beneath tight pop hooks and warm melodies, Gold Motels songs are infused with joyous exuberance as well as sweet melancholy.1. We're On The Run

COIN COIN Chapter Two: Mississippi Moonchile180g LP Audiophile Pressing Includes Art Poster
The spokeswoman for a new, politically conscious and refractory jazz scene. - Jazzthetik
Roberts gives her audience a long look at something ghostly, tragic, and beautiful. - Peter Margasak, Chicago Reader
A major talent. - The Wire
COIN COIN Chapter Two: Mississippi Moonchile is the much-anticipated new installment of Matana Roberts' unique and forward-looking project. Guided by an aesthetic practice she has dubbed 'panoramic sound quilting' (partly in homage to the literal handicraft heritage of her patrilineal line), COIN COIN finds Roberts conjuring some of the most nuanced, thoughtful and substantial American liberation music of the 21st century.
COIN COIN has also been a profoundly generous and collaborative process for Roberts, who has been developing various chapters of the COIN COIN cycle with a wide range of musicians from diverse backgrounds over many years. The hugely acclaimed Chapter One: Gens de couleur libres was the culmination of two years of regular visits to MontrÉal and featured fifteen musicians assembled from that city's out-jazz, experimental and avant-rock scenes. Chapter Two: Mississippi Moonchile was developed for a more intimately woven New York jazz sextet and was recorded with this group in late 2012, following several years of local and international performances of the piece with this line-up.
Mississippi Moonchile takes the next leap forward in Roberts' iconoclastic and complex project of memory and recuperation, where historical and contemporary musical tropes, fragmentary spoken and sung narratives, and Matana's cascading alto saxophone are supported by prodigiously talented players on piano (Shoko Nagai), trumpet (Jason Palmer), double bass (Thomson Kneeland), drums (Tomas Fujiwara) and operatic tenor voice(Jeremiah Abiah). While demarcated by 18 titles and track IDs, the album presents an uninterrupted, incantatory swirl of through-composed music, where thematic structure and
free improvisation are propelled in continual and fluid co-existence.
While Chapter One was marked by more defined set pieces, stark juxtapositions, and the epic cacophony of a sprawlingly unconventional big band, Chapter Two unfolds as a cohesive album-length piece unto itself, channeling the drama and catharsis of Gens de couleur libres into something more measured and circumscribed, playing with notions of dignity, rarefaction and restraint. The inclusion of a male operatic singer contributes significantly to the tone and tension of Mississippi Moonchile in this respect, and operates as a fascinating foil to Roberts' own voice, which alternates between splintered 'wordspeak' and deeply soulful singing. The six players are in a perpetual motion of coalescence and divergence, where melodic themes, occasional ostinato passages, and variously deployed
literal voices ('There are some things I can't tell you about ') serve to rally the overriding theme of individual narratives and personal expressions as struggles with, celebrations of and threads within collective history. The contortions of empowerment, pride, shame, suffering, eulogy, empathy, liberation and transcendence are Matana's raw material in the
broadest and most specific senses;she has given this raw material another beautiful and compelling shape in the second chapter of the COIN COIN story.
Illustrated once again with Roberts' own graphic scores, COIN COIN Chapter Two: Mississippi Moonchile is gorgeously packaged in a heavyweight 100% recycled paperboard jacket and includes an art poster.1. invocation

Band Of Outsiders (Awaiting Repress)
Limited Edition Black And Red Splattered Vinyl
When jazz hits you in the face with a stack of bricks, Mike Dillon is there...twisting chaos into order before turning it back on itself again. -Splinters & Candy
The Mike Dillon Band is a predictably gruesome and sublime elixir of stealthy jazz vibes, street poetry raps and post-punk sonic carnage. -Boulder Weekly
A body in motion tends to stay in motion, at least when The Mike Dillon Band is supplying the dance music. The psychedelic rock group shakes and gyrates with heavy, vibraphone driven grooves, delivering a steady stream of infectious rhythms and hypnotic percussion. -Pittsburgh City Paper
How many artists can claim being praised a punk rock provocateur, jazz vibraphone visionary and percussion virtuoso in the same sentence? There's only one: Mike Dillon. Whether through his affiliation with artists like Les Claypool, Brave Combo and Ani DiFranco, collaborations such as Garage A Trois, The Dead Kenny Gs and Critters Buggin or bands he's fronted, including Billy Goat and Hairy Apes BMX, the Texas-native has set his own standard for 25 years now.
With his latest effort, Band of Outsiders-released via Brooklyn label The Royal Potato Family-Mike Dillon has conjured the perfect storm of all these past endeavors. His manic creative vision found its match in three young musicians he met in New Orleans. Carly Meyers-whom Dillon describes as "a High Priestess of Trombone who channels the energy of Iggy Pop through the chops of JJ Johnson in second-line parade"-provides harmonic counterpoint to his vibes and percussion ("All Walks of Life") as she simultaneously ups the band's art-rock ante ("Carly Hates The Dubstep"). The rhythm section of bassist Patrick McDevitt and drummer Adam Gertner turns on a dime between snarling punk rock assaults ("Homeland Insecurity"), deep funky go-go ("Head"), ska grooves ("Here The Burro") and experimental hip-hop beats ("7AM At The Jazzfest") with all points covered in between.
Dillon recorded Band of Outsiders at Studio Center in Miami with the help of co-producers Gary Vandy and Richard Maloney Jr. Vandy is an old school engineer whose work includes over 200 platinum records predominantly in the disco and dance genres. His love of Zappa is what attracted him to Dillon's work. In the age of pro-tools chicanery, the production is straightforward, capturing Dillon and his band playing live in a room.
"Two tours of Mexico and a steady dose of Brazilian music was the jumping off point for these new songs," explains Dillon. "Add our love for The Melvins, Deerhoof, Bad Brains, Dead Kennedys, Trouble Funk and all things New Orleans and this album surpasses our intention to make the freakiest, most vibrant dance music on the planet."
Lyrically speaking, Mike Dillon draws from his love of Miguel de Cervantes, William Burroughs, Kurt Vonnegut and Robert Anton Wilson to tell stories of New Orleans debauchery mixed with age-old themes of travel, love, self-destruction and greed. Delivered with Dillon's trademark vocal rasp, the record has the intensity of a Tom Waits-meets-Frank Zappa black comedy. Rumor has it that Dillon lived for the past seven years in the same apartment that Waits shared with Rickie Lee Jones. Dillon discounts those rumors: This apartment has housed dudes from Morning 40 Federation, Ani DiFranco, an old Conga player and a bunch of heroin addicts."
Taken in its entirety, Mike Dillon's Band of Outsiders is a snapshot of four musicians hitting full stride. Having relentlessly toured the country in 2013-both headlining and opening for artists like Fishbone, Clutch, Primus and Galactic-its 13 songs bristle with a group mind, spill over the sides with the visions invoked during countless dead-of-night drives crisscrossing the country in a van and hit their target with a sonic assault only possible from a band that's played 400-plus shows over the last two years.
"People are always trying to figure out how to describe our music. Maybe we should call it New Orleans punk jazz Brazilian math rock? It's a gumbo of tribal percussion, The Meters, old school hardcore, Brazil, hard bop and anything else that might move us," concludes Dillon. "But you know, I really don't care what you call it. We kick out the jams harder than anyone, and we also know when to heed the lessons of The Minutemen's Double Nickels On The Dime and keep things straight to the point. There's a reason we called the record what we did. We're the living, breathing definition of a band of outsiders, but together we deliver simple majestic beauty, let's leave it at that."1. Head

SQÜRL is: Jim Jarmusch, Carter Logan and Shane Stoneback. An enthusiastically marginal rock band from New York City who like big drums & distorted guitars, cassette recorders, loops, feedback, sad country songs, molten stoner core, chopped & screwed hip-hop, and imaginary movie scores.
SQÜRL began in 2009 when Jim Jarmusch and Carter Logan teamed with producer Shane Stoneback to record some original music for the film The Limits of Control. Echoing the varied Spanish landscapes captured in the film, the three emerged with a set of slow-motion psychedelic rock instrumentals (releasing them as Bad Rabbit). Following these scoring sessions Jim, Shane, and Carter continued to record new originals while also exploring the back-alleys of American country, noise, and psychedelia. SQÜRL released a series of 3 EPs, recorded over a 3 year period by Shane at Treefort Recording in Brooklyn, NY. Jarmusch and Logan's collaboration continued as a duo with SQÜRL's acclaimed score for Paterson, and a trio with Stoneback for EP #260.1. Solstice

From Hell To TexasNashville Pussy came together in 1996. Albums such as Let Them Eat Pussy (1998), High As Hell (2000) or Say Something Nasty (2002) have caused an international stir, and their 1999 single release ´Fried Chicken And Coffee` earned the band a Grammy nomination in the category ´Best Metal Performance`. We were tired of seeing and hearing bands that were just going through rock 101 motions, all slick but with no real soul. So we decided to play the kind of music that we would like to hear, comments Ruyter Suys on the birth of her band. A renowned American music magazine rightly referred to Nashville Pussy as One of the hardest working bands in show biz today.
Following the release of their previous album in September of 2005, Get Some, complete with a cover version of Ike & Tina Turner's 'Nutbush City Limits', the band set out on an extensive tour, determined to document impressively what their audience had come to expect under the heading of 'kick ass live show' (captured on the new DVD Live in Hollywood), and this is precisely what the band's European fans can look forward to in the beginning of 2012. Cartwright: We tour Europe for three weeks starting end of January and expect as always: kick ass rock n' roll based on our re-release of 2009s From Hell To Texas. Acoustic Recordings 1998-2016JACK WHITE ACOUSTIC RECORDINGS 1998-2016 collects 26 acoustic songs from throughout White's wide-ranging musical career, spanning album tracks, B-sides, remixes, alternate versions, and previously unreleased tracks. The album, arranged in chronological order, includes acoustic songs made famous by The White Stripes, beginning with ''Sugar Never Tasted So Good'' (originally found on The White Stripes' second-ever 7-inch single) and then lighting upon favorites like ''Apple Blossom'' and ''I'm Bound To Pack It Up'' (remixed here from the original recordings on 2000's DE STIJL), ''Hotel Yorba'' and ''We're Going To Be Friends'' (from 2001's WHITE BLOOD CELLS), ''You've Got Her In Your Pocket'' and ''Well It's True That We Love One Another'' (from 2003's GRAMMY® Award-winning ELEPHANT), ''Forever For Her (Is Over For Me),'' ''White Moon'' and ''As Ugly As I Seem'' (from 2005's GET BEHIND ME SATAN) ''Effect & Cause'' (from 2007's ICKY THUMP), and the Beck-produced ''Honey, We Can't Afford To Look This Cheap,'' first found on the B-side to The White Stripes' final single, 2007's ''Conquest.''
''City Lights'' (below) was written for The White Stripes' GET BEHIND ME SATAN but then forgotten until White revisited the 2005 album for Third Man's Record Store Day 2015 vinyl reissue and finished the recording in 2016. The track is the first new, worldwide commercially released White Stripes song since 2008.
Also featured are ''Never Far Away'' (recorded for 2003's COLD MOUNTAIN: MUSIC FROM THE MIRAMAX MOTION PICTURE) and ''Love Is The Truth'' (written and recorded for Coca-Cola's 2006 What Goes Around campaign) as well as the Bluegrass Version of ''Top Yourself'' and an acoustic mix of the epic murder ballad, ''Carolina Drama,'' both written by White and Brendan Benson for The Raconteurs' GRAMMY® Award-winning 2008 album, CONSOLERS OF THE LONELY. White's two chart-topping solo albums, 2012's BLUNDERBUSS and 2014's LAZARETTO, are represented by a remarkably diverse range of material including ''Love Interruption,'' ''On And On And On,'' ''Blunderbuss,'' ''Entitlement,'' ''Want And Able,'' and alternative mixes of ''Hip (Eponymous) Poor Boy,'' ''Just One Drink,'' ''I Guess I Should Go To Sleep,'' and B-side, ''Machine Gun Silhouette.''
''This, like (Son House's) 'Grinnin' In Your Face,' is mirror-music,'' writes renowned music journalist Greil Marcus of ''City Lights'' in the album's exclusive liner notes, ''the singer talking to himself, trying to tell himself the truth, which he's going to need if he's going to step out of his door, walk into the world, and fool himself, for just a second, that he's ready to take it on. As you listen, it's no surprise at all that it took most of White's music-making life to bring the song home.''
The 26 tracks featured on JACK WHITE ACOUSTIC RECORDINGS 1998-2016 were remastered by Andrew Mendelson at Nashville, TN's Georgetown Masters. All songs were written and produced exclusively by Jack White, except ''Never Far Away'' (produced by T Bone Burnett), ''Honey, We Can't Afford To Look This Cheap'' (produced by Beck), ''Top Yourself (Bluegrass Version)'' and ''Carolina Drama'' (written & produced by White & Brendan Benson), and ''Machine Gun Silhouette'' (written by White & Rob Jones).LP 1

Calico ReviewIf you drive past the 200 block of South La Brea, there is a lamp shop, a pet shop, and a little glass door that says "Casting Agency" above it. Inside you'll find one of LA's most stereotypical rituals, where men & women from all walks of life vie for the attention and popularity of the Hollywood producer. It's a dream factory for some of them. It's also a place where Los Angeles outsiders learn what the city is really like, beyond the sun and surf and celebrities, where every brightly-lit surface eventually faces a cloud.
Indeed, the lessons learned by the Allah-Las - guitarists Miles Michaud and Pedrum Siadatian, bassist Spencer Dunham, drummer Matthew Correia - since their auspicious formation in 2008 have been tempered with experience. Now, with their third album Calico Review (their first for Mexican Summer), their experience transforms once more, this time into wisdom. The band's trajectory, formed around mutual appreciation for the same kinds of music and a host of shared experiences, focuses on both the outer trappings of their home and surroundings, and the through line of darkness that suffuses life in LA county.
Where the Allah-Las display their insight, and what really shines across the 12 songs that comprise Calico Review, is the way that the group has pivoted from specific influences and nods to the music they love, to crafting the feelings of freedom, grit, and melancholy in their music. That feeling - the peerless capture of music long in the tradition and mood of California pop, the sound that's captured the essence of the LA experience - aligns with their stylistic technique and their experience in the studio environment to create their strongest album to date, one which showcases their developments in songwriting and arrangements.
The process began with their self-titled debut, which captured the Allah-Las' live set circa 2012 and continued onward with 2014's Worship the Sun, where they began to experiment with overdubs and writing songs individually instead of as a band. Now, Calico Review showcases a band that's grown confident in its own style to reflect the perspectives of each member, to craft an album that changes up the approach from song-to-song, while retaining their abilities as a cohesive unit.
Audiences familiar with the band will recognize the levels of nuance and steadiness the Allah-Las have grown into throughout Calico Review. It's immediate, the first thing you recognize about the band in the opening moves of "Strange Heat," in the amount of control and character burning off of the band's knack for restraint. Songs like "Famous Phone Figure" cradle character sketches over delicate strains of violin, organ, and Mellotron, Correia's drumming carefully underlining a three-note theme that casts a phantom sadness over the proceedings, the group exerting a touch both light and steady enough to bring your mood to theirs. "
Could Be You" works off a steady percussive gallop, guitarist Miles Michaud waxing reflexively on second chances while the band focuses on forward motion. "Roadside Memorial" applies the Bo Diddley beat to the open road, Pedrum Siadatian stepping up on vocals, and finding new ways to match his talents to propulsive musical ends. Elsewhere, "High & Dry," featuring drummer Matthew Correia on lead vocals, focuses on the Allah-Las most quintessential and peerless quality: writing emotionally resonant pop, at once direct and detached, casual and knowing, and instantly memorable. The dream factory itself gets called out in the fun, surf-stung number "200 South La Brea," its carnival-like atmosphere reflecting the excitement and anxiety of those who await their judgment.
In between releases, the Allah-Las have toured around the world, and will continue that journey in support of Calico Review. The experience of traveling and idle time on tour inspired the group in different ways, and provided the pathways by which the band transports its listeners to a different place, be that wherever they are, and where the band has been.
What the Allah-Las present is not necessarily crossing the L.A. River, coin in mouth, on the Riverboat Styx. It's not Raymond Chandler and it's not Raymond Carver. But the band's four members are aware of the pitfalls that stack against the idyllic notion of southern California life that forms from outside of the city. It's a siren call to the hopeful, and it's a successful town for tempering dreams into wakeful reality. Even with over 8,000 people per square mile, there is room for everyone, and then some, to be completely alone, by choice or otherwise.
Calico Review bears the mark of four students becoming the teachers, sharing the sentiments of the town they call home. Join them. There's a lot to learn.1. Strange Heat

Kings (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) (Out Of Stock)Kings is a 2018 crime drama film directed by Deniz Gamze ErgÜven (Mustang). Set in 1992, it follows Millie (Halle Berry), a woman living in South Central Los Angeles who takes in at-risk youths to live in her home. When the infamous Rodney King riots grip the city, Millie and her cavalcade of adoptees are thrust into the mounting chaos sprouting all around them. In time, they are forced into unlikely alliances in order to stay alive.
Scoring duties for Kings fall to Nick Cave & Warren Ellis of Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds fame. In recent years, they have become a force to be reckoned with in the world of soundtracks, thanks to their impressive work on films like Hell or High Water, Wind River, and the National Geographic series Mars. Cave and Ellis, the latter a repeat Erguven collaborator, pull from their rich history in the music world to deliver an unexpected score that immediately transports the listener to a specific place in time - the hot, angry streets of Los Angeles in the summer of 1992.1.
