Produced by John Zorn, Mr. Bungle is the eponymous debut studio album album by American band Mr. Bungle, released in 1991. The album contains many genre shifts which are typical of the band, and helped increase the band's popularity, gaining them a reasonable following and fanbase.
Critics deem the album a 'dizzying, disconcerting, schizophrenic tour through just about any rock style the group can think of, hopping from genre to genre without any apparent rhyme or reason, and sometimes doing so several times in the same song.' Mike Patton's lyrics are even more bizarrely humorous than those he used in Faith No More, and they're also less self-censored, as titles like Squeeze Me Macaroni, My Ass Is on Fire, and The Girls of Porn indicate. This is a difficult, not very accessible record, and the band wouldn't have it any other way.
Incredibly, the original vinyl version of Mr. Bungle was pressed on a single LP, which - with an album duration of 75 minutes - had a rather dull dynamic sound as a result. For the Music On Vinyl version, we've added another LP side to give the music more space to breathe. To top it off, it boasts a unique etch on the D-side!LP 1

CaliforniaCalifornia is the third and final studio album by Mr. Bungle and the follow-up to Disco Volante (1995). The American experimental band including Mike Patton (Faith No More, Tomahawk, Fantômas, etc) was formed in 1985 while the members were still in high school. Mr. Bungle released four demo tapes in the mid to late 1980s before being signed to a major label and releasing three full-length studio albums between 1991 and 1999. Mr. Bungle was known for its distinctive musical traits, often cycling through several musical genres within the course of a single song. Many of its songs had an unconventional structure and utilized a wide array of instruments and samples. Originally released in 1999 California was generally well received.1. Sweet Charity

Disco VolanteOne of the most uncompromising and adventurous major label releases of the 90s, Mr. Bungles second album, originally released in 1995, is an 'alternative' record only in the vaguest sense of the word. Incorporating death metal, free jazz, experimental electronica, and ambient soundtracks, along with Mike Pattons outrageous vocal style, Disco Volante is probably the most important and groundbreaking release of Pattons storied career, and thats saying a lot. Disco VolanteDisco Volante is the second studio album by American experimental Rock band Mr. Bungle. Released in 1995, it is considered by many to be the most experimental of all their albums, picking up inspiration from a wide variety of musical styles including Death Metal, Techno, '50s space age Pop, musique concrète and Italian avant-garde.
Faith No More's vocalist Mike Patton also uses a great number of vocal effects boxes and samples throughout the album.
The album's title refers to the name of the yacht of the same name featured in the James Bond film Thunderball. Disco Volante has been well received by critics, being called a 'totally original and new musical style, and an album that sounds like nothing that currently exists'. The track "Desert Search For Techno Allah" is described as 'a middle eastern Techno number that has to be heard to be believed.' This is a band whose sole purpose is to break all the pre-existing rules of music and doesn't think twice about taking chances.1. Everyone I Went To High School With Is Dead

Maps Of Non-Existent PlacesClaudio Sanchez has officially launched his record label Evil Ink Records and his first signing is New Jersey's young experimental progressive rock septet
Thank You Scientist. The newly formed label, distributed by INgrooves, will be releasing a fully remixed and remastered version of the band's 2012 debut
full-length record, Maps of Non-Existent Places, in time for their run with Coheed and Cambria's "Neverender:IKSSE3 Tour."
Claudio Sanchez knows a little bit about progressive music. His career has spanned 12 years and 7 albums, likely encompassing the longest concept
album arc in the history of rock and roll. Now, in effort to further support and promote his beloved complex genre, he has launched a label dedicated to
sharing a wealth of future talent with the first signing being the extremely talented seven-piece band Thank You Scientist.
For the uninitiated, Thank You Scientist was forged from the music program at Montclair State University in New Jersey when guitarist Tom Monda met
saxophonist Ellis Jasenovic and trumpeter Andrew Digrius. The three bonded over their love for Frank Zappa, Mahavishnu Orchestra, The Beatles and
Harry Nilsson. Those influences would become the seeds for what Thank You Scientist would evolve into today.
With the addition of vocalist Salvatore Marrano, bassist Greg Colacino, drummer Odin Alvarez and violinist Ben Karas, Thank You Scientist's lineup of
virtuoso musicians was complete. The band would go on to self-release an EP, The Perils of Time Travel, in 2011 followed by their debut full-length, Maps
of Non-Existent Places, in 2012, which caught the ear of Sanchez, a fellow purveyor of progressive stylings, and led to his signing of the band.
To pinpoint Thank You Scientist's sound would be inconceivable. On Maps of Non-Existent Places they hold a virtual master class on musicianship,
fusing elements of progressive rock with jazz fusion, classical, metal, psychedelic and pop for a head spinning, mind-blowing listening experience. The
seven-piece band, who collectively play some 20 instruments, boasts a hyper-composed sound which is indebted to their experience and formal training
in both classical and jazz idioms.
A Frank Zappa for the indie generation? Incubus jamming with the Mahavishnu Orchestra? Mr. Bungle and Steely Dan joining forces to fight Godzilla?

King For A DayAfter Faith No More founding guitarist Jim Martin split the band in 1994, Trey Spruance of Mr. Bungle took over six string duties for King For A Day, Fool For A Lifetime. Upon its release, the album quickly reasserted that Faith No More were still on top of their game.
Keeping their harder edge on songs like Get Out, Ricochet and Cuckoo For Caca, the album is balanced with romantic love songs (Evidence), breezy Pop (Caralho Voador) and the more experimental tinged title track.
The original release was sparsely pressed on vinyl which makes King For A Day a true collector's item.LP 1

Basses LoadedIt's 2016 and the Melvins have an album called Basses Loaded coming out that features six different bass players. That's right SIX different bass players. NEW Melvins bass players for this go around are Steve McDonald from the legendary Los Angeles glam punk band Redd Kross and their old friend Krist Novoselic from Nirvana! Making return appearances are former and probably future bass players Jeff Pinkus (Butthole Surfers), Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle/Fantomas), Jared Warren (Big Business) and Dale Crover.
Six bass players? Is this a joke? What IS the deal with these ceaseless idiots? Can't they just settle in and be happy with ONE line up?
I suppose it figures considering how many goddam bass players they've had up until this point.
Nonetheless Basses Loaded actually works!
According to King Buzzo, "More is more! As hard as it might be to believe, all of these bass players contribute something of their own to Basses Loaded which gives the whole album a good kick right in it's big fat ass."
Recording with Krist Novoselic is something that should have happened a long time ago but rumor has it that he's been busy doing things like playing bass with Paul McCartney and getting his ass inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It's hard to believe he even bothered with this! Ha!
Butthole Surfer and Honky member Jeff Pinkus played on the Melvins' album Hold it In and has done shit load of touring with the boys in the last few years.
Trevor Dunn recorded the Freak Puke album with these guys as well as played bass on the Melvins' record setting US tour where they played all 50 states plus DC in 51 days. This was also released as a tour DVD last year entitled Across the USA in 51 Days, the Movie!
Jared Warren is a Melvins' veteran having recorded the Senile Animal, Nude with Boots and The Bride Screamed Murder albums as well as the Bulls and the Bees EP. Dale Crover is usually the Melvins drummer but slid over to bass when they brought back original drummer Mike Dillard for the Tres Cabrones album (this line-up was called Melvins 1983).
Steve McDonald has been in Redd Kross since he was 11 and he's a founding member of Los Angeles hardcore band OFF! plus he's got REALLY good stories about the "rock scene" in Los Angeles! The Melvins have a shit load of touring planned with Steven this year so this whole thing is a really big deal.1. The Decay of Lying (Steve McDonald)
