    Leisure (Special Edition)

To celebrate the 21st Anniversary of its original release, Blur's auspicious debut album Leisure has now been remastered from the original tapes by Frank Arkwright (The Smiths, Arcade Fire, New Order, Joy Division), with the remastering overseen by legendary original producer, Stephen Street. The LP format of the Leisure remaster is cut on heavyweight 180g audiophile vinyl and is housed in a replica of the original sleeve artwork.

Blur's 1991 debut mixed abstract My Bloody Valentine-style noise, psychedelic tunefulness and classic British pop, reflecting the use of a handful of different producers. The album features many songs dating from Blur's earlier incarnation as Seymour, including "Sing" and first single "She's So High," a song written during their first rehearsal together. The band's first UK top ten hit, "There's No Other Way" is also featured, marking the beginning of a long association with producer, Stephen Street.

In November 2012 Kevin Shields announced plans to release a third My Bloody Valentine album in an interview with NME. He stated plans to release it on his website before the end of 2012, and said the album's release would be followed by a series of live shows. On 24 December 2012, it was announced via the band's Facebook page that the album had been completed three days earlier on the 21st. On 27 January 2013, during their first concert since 2009, the band played a new song labeled "rough song", according to a photo of a setlist that looks to be sitting on the soundboard. During that same concert, Kevin Shields told the audience that the third album "might be out in two or three days".

    The Best Day

The Best Day, Thurston Moore's first solo record since
2011's Demolished Thoughts, radiates with both
his signature dynamism of dense thrashing electric
guitars as well as blissful 12-string acoustic ballads.
Recorded with Thurston's current band line-up of
James Sedwards (guitars, UK), Deb Googe (of My
Bloody Valentine, bass, UK) and Steve Shelley (Sonic
Youth, drums, USA), there are also a some tracks that
    feature all instrumentation by Thurston.

Thurston Moore has been at the forefront of the
alternative rock scene since that particular obriquet
was first used to signify any music that challenged
and defied the mainstream standard. He is the
founder and ringleader of Sonic Youth, the band
that turned on an entire generation to the value of
experimentation in rock n' roll - from its inspiration
on a nascent Nirvana, to Sonic Youth's own Daydream
Nation album being chosen by the US Library of
Congress for historical preservation in the National
    Recording Registry in 2006.

This is a record defined by positivity and radical
love. The songs range from opener "Speak to the
    Wild", a Crazy Horse-like paean to anti-authority
and activism, to "Vocabularies", a paean to a new
realization of language which includes ALL people.

San Diego, CA's finest purveyors of extreme metal, Cattle Decapitation, are planning a series of limited edition vinyl releases for 2014 under the banner Decade of Decapitation, to celebrate 10 years of releases on Metal Blade Records. The band's entire Metal Blade discography: To Serve Man (2002), Humanure (2004), Karma.Bloody.Karma (2006), The Harvest Floor (2009), and Monolith of Inhumanity (2012) are all being prepared in lavish gatefolds for release. The colors, handpicked by the band, reflect the concept or color scheme behind each album. Fans will also have the opportunity to pick up a collectable box that comes with an exclusive T-shirt, both with brand new art from longtime Cattle Decapitation cover artist, Wes Benscoter. Additionally, To Serve Man, the band's debut full-length, and their sophomore effort Humanure have been remastered specially for this release. Each vinyl will be released separately in the coming months.

Cattle Decapitation's Travis Ryan adds: We are very excited to announce the Decade of Decapitation reissues! All of our Metal Blade discography has been out of print since right after each release and we're glad we will finally be able to meet some of the demands of the fans with these cool reissues! I've had rare items in my personal collection that came with an empty spot for other items that had to be hunted down in order to be complete, I always thought that was fun and so now we pass the hunt on to our fans! The box art is another quality piece from the great Wes Benscoter which reveals the inside living space of a psychopath hellbent on revenge, the same point of view from which the majority of our lyrics come from.

    The New Face Of Smiling

The third album by New Zealand's Bevan Smith under his Signer nom de electronique continues the artful blending of folkish acoustic guitars, glitchy electronic beats, and slightly mournful minor-key indie pop tunes that have been Smith's raison d'etre all along. This time, Smith has slightly rounded the edges of his electronics, adding judicious amounts of reverb and phasing to soften the occasionally harsh sounds; on tracks like Komputa Ga Bukowarera, the results sound rather like My Bloody Valentine's guitar-centric soundscapes updated for the laptop generation.

Mentored by Daniel Lanois, Daniel Burton has been putting his project-oriented stamp on a variety of records the last ten years and it has all coalesced into this career-defining work. Offshore is one continuous piece, made up of six distinct songs. It's equally beautiful and noisy, composed though loose, akin to the late '80s/early '90s 4AD-laden world of shoegaze wash-rock like Cocteau Twins, My Bloody Valentine, Mark Hollis, their predecessor Peter Gabriel, or modern day saint William Basinski. In the Lanois/Eno tradition, Burton collected an all-star cast to flesh out his vision with members of Horace Pinker, Olo, Black Mountain, Windsor For The Derby, Unwed Sailor, and Tortoise.

Splitting time between Montreal and Los Angeles, female-fronted noise pop group No Joy are poised to release their debut album, Ghost Blonde. The album fully delivers on the promise of their Mexican Summer 7 release, and it builds upon the revitalization of shoegaze pop in recent times with a melodic fervor and angst that many of their contemporaries fail to capitalize on. Philadelphia's NOTHING have been destroying the eardrums of audiences throughout North America for the past 2 years with a magnetic blend of captivatingly dark and beautiful vocals and explosive, blown out, in the red guitar fuzz. On their debut full length Guilty Of Everything, recorded and produced by Jeff Zeigler (Kurt Vile, War On Drugs, etc) NOTHING seamlessly merge the huge distorted guitar sound of 90s/00s alternative rock giants My Bloody Valentine and Smashing Pumpkins with Jesu's introspective post-metal/hardcore. This is a triumph of a debut that successfully manages to be massively loud, darkly introspective and totally beautiful all at once.

After years performing shows and a string of EP's, Still At Home Here (2013), Sleepless (2012) and Outgrowing Hope (2011), Gordon is finally ready to unveil his first album, Forget I Brought It Up. While mostly known for his acoustic performances, the singer-songwriter picked up the electric for his latest

Phantogram's music sounds like it's made by a band from the city. Electronic loops, hip-hop beats, shoegaze, soul, and pop each find its way into their songs. Unexpectedly, the band doesn't live and work in a major urban center, but rather calls the town of Saratoga Springs, NY home. Despite the cultural influence of local Skidmore College (where fellow beat-experimenters Ratatat formed) Saratoga isn't exactly teeming with fans of J. Dilla, My Bloody Valentine or Serge Gainsbourg. Using various samplers, tapes, records, synths, drums, and both percussive and stringed instruments, Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel, the duo that make up Phantogram have allowed their natural surroundings and metropolitan influences to mix, resulting in brilliant, unusual recordings that are beautiful yet hard, dreamlike yet substantial, danceable yet smart.

Warpaint, the all-girl quartet from Los Angeles, weave intricate guitar lines, hypnotic vocals and driving post punk rhythms into gorgeous, sprawling songs that skirt the line between psychedelia and intimacy. Both live and on record, Warpaint sound like theyre channelling something truly otherworldly, mystical. The Fool is their utterly mesmeric debut full-length album on Rough Trade Records and follows-up 2009s Exquisite Corpse EP.

The Fool was produced and mixed by Tom Biller (Liars, Jon Brion, Sean Lennon) in Los Angeles, with further mixes from Andrew Weatherall (Bjork, My Bloody Valentine, Primal Scream) and Adam Samuels (John Frusciante, Daniel Lanois). Warpaint is Emily Kokal (vocals/guitar), Theresa Wayman (guitar/vocals), Jenny Lee Lindberg (bass/vocals) and Stella Mozgawa (drums).

    Hold Still Life

Hold Still Life, which was co-produced by band members Andrew Futral and Rachel Browne, marks Field Mouse's first full-length that's been written and released as a full band. The album was recorded at Seaside Lounge, Brooklyn & Let 'em In, Brooklyn and mixed by Kyle Gilbride (Swearin', Waxahatchee, Upset).

Upon returning from a tour with Laura Stevenson and the Cans in 2013, the band wasted no time arranging the album. Inspired by burgeoning adulthood, social overload and isolation, life in New York, and the realization that life is going by with a terrifying swiftness (plus a handful of breakup songs to boot), Field Mouse wrote and recorded the new album in late 2013.

If you're a fan of artists like The Breeders, Sonic Youth, Velocity Girl, My Bloody Valentine, Beach House or Juliana Hatfield, you're gonna enjoy Field Mouse. Plus, they have a really great cover of the Twin Peaks song so there's that.

    Deep Sleep

Sleeping Bag sounds different, you guys. On their third LP, "Deep Sleep", Dave
Segedy (the group's drummer, songwriter and primary vocalist) has taken the band
into heavier, more epic territory. The sunny jangling guitars and fun whistle choruses
are gone; obliterated in a full on fuzz-guitar assault. Dave sings, "I want to free the dog
that I am." and he means it.

Segedy's signature pop songwriting style is still in full effect, now brought to life by
guitarist Tyler Smith and bassist Glenn Meyers. Tracks like "Hush" and "Wrestle"
exemplify Sleeping Bag's honest, bedroom-pop approach and Malkmus-deadpan
vocal delivery, but compared to the sunny disposition of the previous records "Deep
Sleep" sounds downright tuff. Drenched in distortion & reverb, the album culminates
with the nine-minute closer, "The Portal" - an epic shred-fest, equal parts My Bloody
Valentine & Weezer "Only In Dreams". It's quite an affair.

The aesthetics of this ex-mill were a pure joy for LoneLady, and invoked the ghosts of bands she loves ... (Joy Division, ESG, Wire, Grace Jones, The Fall, Suicide, PiL). Co-produced by Julie and Guy Fixsen (My Bloody Valentine, The Breeders, Stereolab), LoneLady has delivered far more than just an assembly of songs in album form, but the outcome of a process of making something out of nothing.

    Picture You

Picture You, inhabits an aural landscape that's all its own: a panoramic, constantly evolving spectacle marked by layers of intertwining guitars, richly textured keyboards and a rhythm section adept at skewed tempos and a tendency to veer off in unexpected directions.

Christoffer Gunrup's anguished croon drifts through the slowly intertwining melodies of "Broken", which concludes in a hushed pastoral interlude of voice and chiming guitars. "Safe Island" floats on a sea of reverb drenched feedback, while "The Headless Boy" drops a bit of folky Nick Drake-like melancholy into the mix. "British guitar stuff," Grunrup says dryly. "Ride, My Bloody Valentine, Jesus and Mary Chain - not that this song is as good as theirs, but it evolved it that direction."

As compelling and enigmatic as expected, Picture You has its own unique texture and timbre, but Gunrup, an ironic perfectionist who is always slightly dissatisfied with his work, would rather play music than talk about it. "I have no idea how to describe the songs [on any of my records]. I like and hate them all equally. If you theorize about the songs, it ruins the tension and passion. Just shut the fuck up and play, but play good."

The Amazing is comprised of singer-songwriter Christoffer Gunrup, Reine Fiske of acclaimed neo-psych group Dungen, Fredrik Swahn, Alexis Benson and lauded jazz drummer Moussa Fadera.

Discovery is the recording project of Rostam Batmanglij and Wes Miles, friends who began recording together in the summer of 2005. One year later they had committed themselves to their respective bands, Vampire Weekend and Ra Ra Riot, but nonetheless continued to record together when they both found themselves in the same city. The project is many things: it's partly an attempt to realize Wes' concept of a band where everyone plays synthesizers, and of Rostam's concept for an album where handclaps keep the backbeat instead of snares drums. It's an embrace and also a commentary on the pop music of the past decade, of booming 808 bass and jittery sixteenth note high-hats. Elements of European electronic dance music skittering in double-time over steady R&B. If soul music is secularized, sexualized gospel, Discovery is an attempt to see if soul music can survive being plasticized, roboticized, quantized, chopped, and finally, screwed. The album features Rostam and Wes each singing half the songs and guest vocals from Ezra Koenig (Vampire Weekend) and Angel Deradoorian (Dirty Projecters).

Cascades of synths that belong on a My Bloody Valentine record and electronic flurries that sound like a flock of robins chirping incessantly on a Spring morning. - Pitchfork
