    Good Nature

    Pressed On Colored Vinyl

Frontman Austin Getz doesn't blink when asked to sum up Turnover's third full-length, Good Nature. Learning, he replies. This whole record is about learning. Opening your eyes to new things, going out- side of your comfort zone, and learning to grow into something new. The album's unique blend of musical and spiritual growth is immediately audible on the opening track, Super Natural, a late-summer idyll of intertwined guitar parts and laidback vocals. Listening to how the leisurely Nightlight Girl melts into a more propulsive selection like Breeze, and the way Good Nature flows together as a seamless whole, it's also evident that the foursome has been paying closer attention to how artists from earlier eras made full-length albums: the range of textures, tempos, and dynamics on Good Nature are influenced in part by bossa nova, cool jazz, electronic music, and psychedelic grooves. This influx of new influences and inspiration, navigated by Peripheral Vision producer Will Yip, results in the band's best album to date. Good Nature comes from a place of calm and contentment, nurtured by looking inward.

J.J. Cale never recorded a full album until Eric Clapton scored a huge hit with Cale's 'After Midnight'. Encouraged by friend and producer Audie Ashworth, J.J. Cale recorded Naturally to capitalize on the success of his song.

He released his debut album in 1972, not knowing this would be the beginning of the so-called Tulsa-sound. A lazy, rolling Boogie that contradicted all the commercial styles of Boogie, Blues, and Country-Rock that was popular at the time. This new sound became the blueprint for the adult-oriented Roots Rock of Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler, among others.

Naturally contains a new version of 'After Midnight' recorded by J.J. Cale as well as the hits 'Crazy Mama' and 'Call Me The Breeze', which was later covered by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Over the years J.J. Cale has written several hits for other musicians and recorded more than fifteen albums which makes him one of the most successful and lasting singer- songwriters of his generation.

    Naturally

In a desert of computerized over-produced faux-R&B, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings' Naturally is a cool glass of water for anyone thirsty for Real Soul and Funk Music. On this, their sophomore release on Brooklyn's own independent Daptone Records, they have succeeded in transcending the boundaries of time to bring us face to face with the naked body of vintage Soul.

From the first track, a funk-infused shuffle, the Dap-Kings carve a deep and heavy groove which only gets deeper and heavier as the needle cuts further into the flesh of the album. Through ten solid tracks, 'Naturally' explores the many moods and tempos of a group that is quickly earning a reputation as one of the hottest live acts across the nation, stretching their versatility to map out the full panorama of the idiom in which they so effortlessly reside. They are able to bring us back to 1970 not with the usual bell-bottomed conventions and wah-wah cliche's employed by so many retro-funk wannabe's, but by reaching back to the original source of all that good music: sincerity, integrity, melody, and an unwavering loyalty to rhythm.

In arrangements punctuated by bold horns and tastefully accented with piano, vibes, and strings, the Dap-Kings road-tight rhythm section expertly frames the skeleton of a classic Soul album, breathing life into a body of songs penned exclusively for Sharon Jones' unique voice. In turn, she masterfully and instinctively reaches beyond the basic melodies into her gospel-soaked roots to pour every drop of herself into each note that passes her lips, elevating the music from craft to art. With every moan she reminds us that before Whitney, Mariah, and Jay-Z, there was Tina, Aretha, and J.B.

    Do What Comes Naturally

Some people call it a vibe and some people call it a groove. We call it boogie soul. It's the sound of HANDSOME JACK on their new album "Do What Comes Naturally". Produced by Zachary Gabbard of the BUFFALO KILLERS and featuring Bob Nave (of the legendary Lemon Pipers) on hammond organ, among others, the music of this album seamlessly flows through deep dark mid-tempo boogies, smoky upbeat burners, and soulful feel-good rockers all with a natural ease. HANDSOME JACK hails from Buffalo NY and began as a blues garage rock band. After high school they moved out of the garage and developed their sound into a natural soulful boogie mthat remains rooted in raw blues. They've shared the stage with The Sheepdogs, Blue Cheer, Gov't Mule, J. Geils, The Hold Steady, and Robert Randolph to name a few.

    Modern Nature

THE CHARLATANS:- Tim Burgess, Mark Collins, Martin Blunt and Tony Rogers - release their twelfth album, MODERN NATURE on BMG Chrysalis. The album comes after a brutally difficult year for the band following the death from brain cancer of their old friend and drummer Jon Brookes last year. Rogers says that they were determined to carry on, to honour Brookes' memory - Jon was adamant that there was going to be another Charlatans record, and you have to put that into your own thoughts. The band went into their studio Big Mushroom in January 2014 and as Tim recalls We were aching for the summer when we wrote it. It was freezing and we were trying to write songs that made us happy. " The result is Modern Nature. Featuring eleven new tracks, including the recent limited edition 7" single and 6 Music A List record 'Talking In Tones', the album was produced by The Charlatans and Jim Spencer and mixed by Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, Portishead). The album features a cacophony of contributors from their three temporary drummers - Pete Salisbury of The Verve, Stephen Morris of New Order and Gabriel Gurnsey of DFA's avant-disco group Factory Floor, to Kate Bushs' backing singers Melanie Marshall and Sandra Marvin, strings by Sean O' Hagan and brass courtesy of Dexys' Big Jim Paterson. Q have already described the album as "one the finest of their career."

    Natural Motion

Other Colors is an exploratory pop group from Baltimore comprised of longtime collaborators William Ryerson and Daniel Whatley, with a rotating cast of characters.

A historic blizzard in Baltimore back in 2010 played prominently in the early history of the band. With the city shut down for almost two weeks, Ryerson took the opportunity to write a droney, catchy set of songs on a broken electric guitar, layering sounds overtop on an old four-track. The results, captured on a self-titled EP released a year later, set a course for the group's future pop ambitions: a skewed, lo-fi miniature of greater things to come.

Their proper debut album, Free Thoughts, was recorded in 2012 by Dan Frome (Big Ups, Expert Alterations). A more polished and recognizably rock affair, it features contributions from notable musicians including Jenn Wasner (Wye Oak) and Dave Jacober (Dope Body). Released on their own Genpop imprint in early 2013, the album incorporates introspective folk-rock moods and atmospheric production into a set of memorable songs. To follow up, they recorded a two-song seven-inch with Chester Endersby Gwazda (Future Islands, Dan Deacon) that more accurately captured the band's dreamy live sound.

The band is now preparing to release their second album Natural Motion, recorded and mixed throughout 2015 at Beat Babies by Chris Freeland (Lower Dens, Wye Oak). This new album draws stylistic inspiration from forgotten AM radio hits and the smoother side of krautrock, conjuring tender soft-rock vibes through the fractured lens of contemporary underground pop. Filled with imaginative arrangements and first-rate songcraft, Natural Motion is a major step forward for the group: a lush, fully realized sound experience with abundant melodic treasures waiting to be uncovered.

    Nature Noir

Crystal Stilts first came to attention with a self-titled eP in 2005 and 2008's Alight of Night, an early ripple in what would soon be perceived of as a wave of fuzzy, reverb-laden bands memorably dubbed "Jangle-Schrammelpop" by one German reviewer. The intervening years have seen the band grow and evolve, with 2011's robust In Love With Oblivion, and the Radiant Door eP, their debut release for Sacred Bones.

Founded by vocalist Brad Hargett and guitarist JB Townsend, Crystal Stilts have since come to include Andy Adler on bass, Keegan Cooke on drums, and organist Kyle Forester. Together the five-piece have crafted the band's latest lP, Nature Noir. Recorded in the damp spring of 2013, this newest disc finds the group expanding their palette to include strings, percussion, and synthesizers, to create a record that is both more sonically adventurous and a more personal and humane statement than their previous work.

On tracks such as "Star Crawl" and "Sticks and Stones", Hargett's vocals have a striking clarity and soulfulness, while the musical arrangements throughout display a sophistication that may be surprising to those who previously thought of the band as "lo-fi". Meanwhile, album opener "Spirit in Front of Me" and the ripping "Future Folklore" showcase the psychedelic grit that has long been a trademark sound.

Assembled by Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails), the soundtrack to Oliver Stone's brutally warped serial killer saga recreates the hallucinatory feeling of the film. Snatches of dialogue interweave with song fragments and sound effects, creating a harrowing, violent soundscape where Leonard Cohen occasionally offers a relief of sorts. In fact, Reznor managed to convey the insanity of the movie's lead characters much more effectively than Stone did with the film itself.

    Natural Elements (Speakers Corner)

In the western world, the word shakti is taken to mean creative intelligence, beauty and strength. Guitar marvel John McLaughlin, who collaborated with the unique Mahavishnu Orchestra to tell the world of his conversion to Hinduism, created music past comparison with Shakti. Despite the frenzy of mass oriental pilgrimages, it was still unusual that McLaughlin's ensemble was made up totally of musicians from India.

As the title of the third and last album - Natural Elements - suggests, all the participants work with body and soul and make no use of electronic equipment that was so popular in the Seventies. The very real natural energy, which emanates from the flow of melodies and rhythms from both western and eastern musical sources, fires all the musicians. And it is completely intentional that a cheerful fiddle tune, which might well be heard in the Emerald Isle, is joined by plopping volleys of sound on the tabla, inviting one to dance, or that dampened mariachi jubilation appears to be enveloped in the meditative atmosphere of a temple.

The short, light and cheerful pieces on this LP provide easy listening and offer an ideal insight into the world of Shakti. These natural sounds, far from time and space, are still enjoyed today - as is proved by the presence of a large audience at the concert Remember Shakti, in which John McLaughlin and Zakir Hussain celebrated their 40-year spiritual ties.

    • John McLaughlin (guitar, vocals)

    • L. Shankar (violin, viola, vocals)

    About Speakers Corner

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

    Natural Light (Pure Pleasure)

Natural Light by Eric Bibb is as strong as his previous efforts and produced once again by his longtime bassist Dave Bronze. Eric's voice and guitar playing shines all over whether he's doing a solo acoustic number as in Champagne Habits and the beautiful Lucky Man' Rag where he is joined by a wasboard player, or in the full band numbers such as the cover of the sixties Jackie Wilson hit Higher And Higher. Other favourites include the jazzy Home Lovin' Man where Janne Petersson's piano really stands out, the gospel of Right On Time and Tell Riley, a song about Bukka White and his cousin Riley B.(B.) King. There's even a guest appearence by Hubert Sumlin, the late Howlin Wolf's guitarist, who plays a solo on Too Much Stuff. Most of the songs are self-penned by Eric Bibb with wise storytelling and witty lyrics but there are some covers tastefully arranged including Randy Newman' ballad Every Time It Rains.

    Musicians:

    • Eric Bibb (vocal, guitar)

    • Janne Petersson (piano, organ, accordian)

    • Dave Bronze (bass)

    • Hubert Sumlin, Steve Donnelly (guitar)

    • Simon Clarke, Roddy Lorimer, Tim Sanders (horns)

    A New Nature

The record, their third album, following last year's Wash The Sins Not Only The Face, and their second release of 2014 after a split with Thought Forms in April, marks something of a change of tact for the band. For starters, it's coming out via the band's own new imprint, Nostromo Records, following an amicable split with their previous label Matador. It's also been recorded by the well-worn, expert hands of Steve Albini, no less, at his Chicago studio Electrical Audio following a successful Pledge Music campaign earlier this year. Most significantly, it sees the band stripping back their sound and taking out a lot of the electronic matter, instead forging even more expansive songs (the album's centrepiece is the near-15-minute 'The Jungle') in raw, more live-feeling sonics. 'Blood Teachings' is a good case in point, with its Swans-esque heaving repetition providing a soundbed over which Rachel Davies unfurls a mesmeric vocal, not dissimilar to former Albini collaborator PJ Harvey, building to a razing, fuzzed crescendo.

    The Natural World (Awaiting Repress)

    Coke Bottle Clear Vinyl

Land Lines is an impossible decade, some gap in history where the tines of early electric pianos shimmer in echo chambers, baroque cellos thrum minor chords, and modern percussive rhythms build with surgical precision. All culminating in sparing, angular pop melodies that find new creative spaces in an otherwise overpopulated musical landscape. 'Land Lines' arose from the ashes of Matson Jones, when Martina Grbac, Anna Mascorella, and Ross Harada regrouped and began crafting new songs. After releasing their self-titled LP on Denver's Cash Cow Records, Anna left the group to attend graduate school; James Han, who had been recording and touring with Nathaniel Rateli and Gregory Alan Isakov, joined and helped shape the new sonic direction of the band. In early 2014, Land Lines recruited Xandy Whitesel to record/mix and TW Walsh (Suan Stevens, The Shins, David Bazan) to master a second LP, 'The Natural World.' With sultry songs that saunter, thrust, and linger, 'The Natural World' is a treasure trove of heart breaking songs of love, loss, and human nature and ushers in the next era of Land Lines's sonic exploration.

The Soul Of All Natural Things

Includes Collaborations With Ramona Gonzalez (Nite
    Jewel) And Julia Holter

Includes Liner Notes With Song Visualizations From
    Linda Perhacs

Linda Perhacs' Parallelograms was created in the heart of
hippy country, LA's Topanga Canyon, by a dental hygienist
who was inspired by nature and by the cultural revolution
going on around her. When Parallelograms was finished, it sounded like a masterpiece, but the label had pressed it so
poorly, sales were non-existent. Obscurity beckoned.

But in the internet age obscurity can be discreetly transformed into a kind of niche immortality. By 2003, Parallelograms had become a cult album.

And slowly, Perhacs began making music again. In 2010,
she connected with a new generation of LA musicians at tuned to her vision, including Fernando Perdomo and Chris
Price, both accomplished musicians and producers in their
own right. The trio began recording the eclipse song, "River
Of God", and what became a new album's title track, The
    Soul Of All Natural Things.

Nothing Violates This Nature (Awaiting Repress)

Boston hardcore super group, and all-around ass kickers, All Pigs Must Die continue the onslaught that their debut album God Is War started with a healthy ten song offering of bludgeoning metal akin to felony assault with a lead pipe. As is the common theme of a healthy minority of the roster that California label Southern Lord has cultivated, All Pigs Must Die's sophomore LP Nothing Violates This Nature grabs you by the balls instantly in the opener "Chaos Arise", as if the schizophrenic and lightening quick hi-hat count off from Ben Koller the instant after hitting the play button isn't subtle enough. As you can imagine from the band name, Nothing Violates This Nature lacks any form of subtlety in its sonic barrage of hate-filled anthems, chalk full of ferocity, violence, aggression, and nihilism. Taking about as much influence from the recent trend of aggressive Entombed worship metal groups, to the "fuck you"-attitude of Discharge punks, All Pigs Must Die cater to focused, yet highly devout following in a new wave of heavy music.

Nothing Violates This Nature rarely lets up on the gas pedal throughout its ten song length. Whether the quasi black metal tremolo opener of "Primitive Fear", to even the hauntingly acoustic opener "Of Suffering" before plummeting into a doom inspired dirge, Nothing Violates... runs the gamut of a plethora of extreme heavy metal genres, not necessarily reinventing the wheel by any means but still packing enough of a punch to appreciate its ferocity on every listen. That being said, Nothing Violates This Nature won't throw many curve balls your way, but for those in the need to get their fill of anger and aggression out this is most definitely the album to pick up and put on repeat. An ass kicking from top to bottom, All Pigs Must Die's sophomore album is rife full of killer with next to nil filler.

By getting out of the way entirely, the VPI Prime simply let the cartridge do its intended job. Most other turntables make this music 'fall' out of the speakers, but with the VPI it just sang! - Alan Sircom, HiFi +

The past 3 years VPI has been focusing mainly on new/entry level audiophiles and getting them to embrace vinyl for the first time. With the Prime we wanted to get back to our roots and focus on the existing audience with a table that offers quality hi-end sound while taking advantage of our improvements in technology. Also, it was important to show the industry that we will still be making new turntable and designs whether Harry is in the factory or poolside! The Prime is Mat Weisfeld's first solo design on a table with Harry's approval as well as input from the rest of the VPI staff. The shape of the Prime is meant to have a curvier and sexy look compared to the classic look of our tables over the past 10 years. At same time having the footprint to accommodate the space needed for a 10 inch 3D arm.

    One For The Ride (Discontinued)

    Blue Colored Vinyl

Waxwing features Rocky Votolato (vocals/guitar) and brother Cody Votolato on guitar (Blood Brothers). Waxwing's follow up to their For Madmen Only debut on Second Nature, once again impeccably produced by the renowned Matt Bayles (Botch, The Blood Brothers), One For The Ride is in parts a more stripped down, sparser affair than the layered, lush For Madmen Only. However, because of it sparseness it achieves a sound just as full and textured as their debut, as if each element of Waxwing is given more room to breathe and grow. While more restrained in its full on rock moments than For Madmen Only, but not abandoning them either, One For The Ride once again harnesses Rocky Votolato's smooth, morose, world-weary vocals, coupling them with Waxwing's effortless ability to mine different facets of rock's landscape, usually in a more restrained and introspective manner. This coupling allows the music to be driven but never eclipsed by Votolato's vocal talents, before musically climaxing with a dynamic rock crescendo or falling fleetingly apart, wherever the music takes them. While often brooding and introspective in its nature, Waxwing's rock laments possess an energy and emotion buoyed by their unwavering commitment to atmosphere and moods, as well as always placing the music first. One For The Ride is another excellent organic rock release from Waxwing. Limited to electric blue/baby blue vinyl.

    For Madmen Only (Discontinued)

    White Colored Vinyl

Waxwing features Rocky Votolato (vocals/guitar) and brother Cody Votolato on guitar (Blood Brothers). Seattle-based Waxwing's debut full length, For Madmen Only, is a beautifully involved album of contrasting emotions set against the musical contradictions of both lush acoustic movements and propulsive dramatic rock. Musically, For Madmen Only's nine tracks transverse myriad rock landscapes (be it traditional rock, indie, folk or Americana), but with a sullen, repentant quality that stains these tracks with a morose, languid atmosphere perfectly echoed in singer/guitarist Rocky Votolato's brooding vocals and lyrics. One of For Madmen Only's greatest strengths is Votolato's golden crooning, which serves as both focal point and background for Waxwing's music, slipping into the foreground and back again with ease, as it's required. Waxwing's lilting dynamics takes the music from tender acoustic folk to somnambulant indie rock to restrained melodies that build to emotional climaxes and rock spasms, but always with a faltering push-pull theme laced throughout For Madmen Only. Sharing its members with The Blood Brothers, Bugs In Amber, as well as Votolato's solo endeavors has done nothing to diminish Waxwing's dramatic focus, and For Madmen Only is an exquisite, effecting debut. Recorded by Matt Bayles (MINUS THE BEAR, The Sword, Botch, ISIS, Cursive, Make Do and Mend, Murder City Devils, Mastodon, Blood Brothers). WHITE vinyl limited to 500 copies. First time this vinyl has been available since 1999, hence all the collectors getting top dollar for these.

Tommy Rogers, the visionary vocalist and keyboardist of critically acclaimed progressive metal act, Between the Buried and Me, has dabbled in solo releases since 2004. Testing the limits of what he can do naturally with his voice, Rogers' strikingly beautiful falsetto and dynamic range conjures tales of anxiety, collapse, and strength. Exploring combinations of the outrÉ genres of both post-rock and electronic, the music's emotionally resonant yet textural sounds draw reference to artists such as Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, the Verve, Beck, Oasis and Spiritualized, balancing both rock and electronic impulses.
