A Boy Named Goo (20th Anniversary Edition)

    Features 7 Previously Unreleased Tracks

Goo Goo Dolls are celebrating the 20th anniversary of A Boy Named Goo this year with special vinyl, featuring seven previously unreleased tracks. The new tracks were all recorded live at The Academy in New York back in November of 1995 and include both acoustic recordings and covers.

The Goo Goo Dolls have become one of the most globally respected and influential forces in popular music history, selling more than 10 million albums since 1986. They have scored 14 Top 10 radio hits (more than any other artist in the history of the Hot AC format), including Name, Slide, and Iris, the latter spending nearly 12 straight months on the Billboard charts and holding the No. 1 position for 17 consecutive weeks. The band, which comprises vocalist-guitarist John Rzeznik and bassist Robby Takac, has toured the globe countless times, performed in front of millions of fans, received numerous awards (including four Grammy Award nominations), and recorded and released nine studio albums. Rzeznik has also been honored with the Songwriters Hall of Fame Hal David Starlight Award.

    New York Dolls

When the New York Dolls released their debut album in 1973, they managed to be named both Best New Band
and Worst Band in Creem Magazine's annual reader's poll, and it usually takes something special to polarize an
audience like that. While New York Dolls clearly came from a very specific time and place, this album still sounds
fresh and hasn't dated in the least -- this is one of rock's greatest debut albums, and a raucous statement of
purpose that's still bold and thoroughly engaging.

    Too Much Too Soon

Too Much Too Soon is the second studio album by American hard rock band the New York Dolls. The group was
dissatisfied with the recording of their 1973 self-titled debut album, leading the band's frontman David Johansen to
enlist veteran producer Shadow Morton for Too Much Too Soon. Morton had become disenchanted by the music
industry, but felt motivated by the band's energy and agreed to work with them as a challenge. They recorded the
album in 1974 at A&R Studios in New York City.

Former lead singer of the 1970s protopunk band the New York Dolls, David Johansen released his first solo album soon after his work with the band in 1978. David Johansen featured fellow New York Dolls guitarist, Sylvain Sylvain, who co-wrote four of the record's songs, and is featured on the album along with Joe Perry of Aerosmith. While his debut solo album bears a closer resemblance to the New York Dolls than his later work, Johansen begins to cultivate his own style of powerful, soulful vocals and a polished sound.

    Oriental Beat

    Pressed On 140-Gram Clear Vinyl

Oriental Beat is the second studio album by the Finnish glam punk band Hanoi Rocks, recorded in London and released in 1982. Oriental Beat also opened markets in the UK and Japan, where Hanoi eventually became very popular. The album finds Hanoi Rocks bringing the glam sound and look of the New York Dolls into the '80s. It is full of big singalong choruses and catchy riffs that would have made the band big(ger) players either five years earlier or later. The band shows its punk and glam influences not only with its look on the cover of the album but also with the music performed on the album as well.

Izzy Stradlin And The Ju Ju Hounds

    180 Gram Import

Izzy Stradlin was always the most gifted member of Guns N' Roses, able to put a modern spin on the classic Rock of Chuck Berry, the Stones, and the Faces, as well as the New York Dolls and Sex Pistols. Axl may have had the angst and Slash may have had the chops, but Izzy had the smarts and the heart.

On his debut solo album, released in 1992, the traditional elements that had always formed the backbone of Stradlin's music with Guns N' Roses comes to the forefront. Unlike future albums released by Stradlin, this one was released under a band name: Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds.

The album spawned two Top 20 Rock radio hits: Shuffle It All and Somebody Knockin'.

    Kiss

Kiss' 1974 self-titled debut is one of hard rock's all-time classic studio recordings. Kiss is chock full of their best and most renowned compositions, containing elements of Rolling Stones/New York Dolls party-hearty rock & roll, Beatles tunefulness, and Sabbath/Zep heavy metal, and wisely recorded primal and raw by producers Richie Wise and Kenny Kerner (of Gladys Knight fame). Main songwriters Stanley and Simmons each had a knack for coming up with killer melodies and riffs, as evidenced by Nothin' to Lose and Deuce (by Simmons), Firehouse and Black Diamond (by Stanley), as well as Strutter and 100,000 Years (collaborations by the two). Also included is the Ace Frehley alcohol anthem Cold Gin, Let Me Know (a song that Stanley played for Simmons upon their very first meeting, then titled Sunday Driver), and one of Kiss' few instrumentals: the groovy Love Theme from Kiss (penned by the entire band). The only weak track is a tacky cover of the 1959 Bobby Rydell hit Kissin' Time, which was added to subsequent pressings of the album to tie in with a Kissing Contest promotion the band was involved in at the time. Along with 1976's Destroyer, Kiss' self-titled debut is their finest studio album, and has only improved over the years.

Johnny Thunders, founding member and lead guitarist for 1970s proto-punk bands The New York Dolls and The Heartbreakers, was known for a gritty, intense guitar sound. His musical style served as a blueprint of sorts for bands such as the Sex Pistols. After The Heartbreakers split, Thunders recorded his first solo album, So Alone, in 1978. Featuring guest musicians such as Chrissie Hynde (Pretenders), Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy), Steve Jones and Paul Cook (Sex Pistols) and Peter Perrett (The Only Ones), So Alone is a true rock classic. This eclectic mix of rock, punk, and soul showcases Johnny Thunders at his very best.

    Toys In The Attic

Ranked 228/500 On Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Remastered From The Original Source Tapes!

Contains the classics Sweet Emotion, Walk This Way, & Toys In The Attic

After nearly getting off the ground with Get Your Wings, Aerosmith finally perfected their mix of Stonesy raunch and Zeppelin-esque riffing with their third album, Toys in the Attic. The success of the album derives from a combination of an increased sense of songwriting skills and purpose. Not only does Joe Perry turn out indelible riffs like Walk This Way, Toys in the Attic, and Sweet Emotion, but Steven Tyler has fully embraced sleaziness as his artistic muse. Taking his cue from the old dirty blues Big Ten Inch Record, Tyler writes with a gleeful impishness about sex throughout Toys in the Attic, whether it's the teenage heavy petting of Walk This Way, the promiscuous Sweet Emotion, or the double-entendres of Uncle Salty and Adam's Apple. The rest of Aerosmith, led by Perry's dirty, exaggerated riffing, provide an appropriately greasy backing. Before Toys in the Attic, no other hard rock band sounded like this. Sure, Aerosmith cribbed heavily from the records of the Rolling Stones, New York Dolls, and Led Zeppelin, but they didn't have any of the menace of their influences, nor any of their mystique. Aerosmith was a gritty, street-wise hard rock band who played their blues as blooze and were in it for a good time; Toys in the Attic crystallizes that attitude.

    Yoko and the Oh No's

Yoko & the Oh No's are three kids from Chicago - Max Goldstein on vocals, Max Loebman on guitar, and Stef Roti on drums - a raging trio fueled by Taco Bell, rock & roll myths, and pilfered booze. It doesn't quite add up how kids this young (Max L. just graduated high school) managed to tap into a vibe this classic. The band's self-titled full-length debut, out July 31 on Autumn Tone, is crammed with classic rock riffs, swinging beats, and up front, the sassy, done-up style of Max G. emoting loosely and widly like a young David Johansen fronting the New York Dolls, possessing a crooner's voice and a taste for style. Dolled up in flashy get-ups, Max G.'s voice is a growly, beefy thing, a rangy tenor that belies his taste for soul shouters. The prevailing mood in modern indie garage rock is one of stylistic indifference, but that's not how Yoko & the Oh No's come across; these kiddos don't just care, they care a lot. Listen to the crashing classic rock chorus of "Heart Attack," the sneering "She Knows It," and the distorted R&B groove of "Nobody Wants to Know." "Talking over radio/on the moonlit drive/We listen to VU/Jane says close your eyes." Yoko & the Oh No's S/T album is their first for Autumn Tone Records, which has a knack for finding raw young bucks (turn up records by the Orwells, Twin Peaks, and Modern Vices as a testament). Yoko & the Oh No's are currently on tour with likeminded rock & roll weirdos The Growlers, blowing minds and connecting with crowds across the Midwest.

    Triplicate

Triplicate, is the new three-disc studio album from Bob Dylan. The collection features 30 brand-new recordings of classic American tunes and marking the first triple-length set of the artist's illustrious career. With each disc individually titled and presented in a thematically-arranged 10-song sequence, Triplicate showcases Dylan's unique and much-lauded talents as a vocalist, arranger and bandleader on 30 compositions by some of music's most lauded and influential songwriters. The Jack Frost-produced album is the 38th studio set from Bob Dylan and marks the first new music from the artist since Fallen Angels, which was released in early 2016.

For Triplicate, Dylan assembled his touring band in Hollywood's Capitol studios to record hand-chosen songs from an array of American songwriters such as Charles Strouse and Lee Adams (Once Upon A Time), Harold Arlen and Ted Koehler (Stormy Weather), Harold Hupfield (As Time Goes By) and Cy Coleman and Carolyn Leigh (The Best Is Yet To Come). The titles of the individual discs are 'Til The Sun Goes Down, Devil Dolls and Comin' Home Late. According to Bob Dylan, I am finding these great songs to be a tremendous source of inspiration that has led me to one of my most satisfying periods in the studio. I've hit upon new ways to uncover and interpret these songs that are right in line with the best recordings of my own songs, and my band and I really seemed to hit our stride on every level with Triplicate.

Dylan's two previous album of classic American songs, 2016's Fallen Angels and 2015's Shadows in the Night, were both worldwide hits and garnered Grammy Award nominations in the category of Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Both albums received worldwide critical acclaim, with Randy Lewis writing of Fallen Angels in The Los Angeles Times, [Dylan] immediately liberates songs from the big band/big orchestra world from which they emerged, and in which they are most frequently revisited . [He] reaches to the blues at the core of many of these songs. Thus, they elicit the ache of romantic yearning and loss that often gets subsumed by swelling orchestral forces, background choirs or by singers who are more focused on crafting elegant vocals than finding emotional resonance. The Telegraph's Neil McCormick awarded Shadows in the Night five out of five stars and described the work as spooky, bittersweet, mesmerizingly moving [with] the best singing from Dylan in 25 years. Jon Pareles wrote of that album in the New York Times, Mr. Dylan presents yet another changed voice a subdued, sustained tone .Shadows in the Night maintains its singular mood: lovesick, haunted, suspended between an inconsolable present and all the regrets of the past.

Bob Dylan has sold more than 125 million records around the world.

    Title

"'All About That Bass' doesn't sound like anything else that's on pop radio
right now - especially the chorus, which has a doo-wop feel." - Billboard

"All About That Bass is a sweet delight on every level - from its pro-curves lyrics to its lilting,
island-tinged groove, to Trainor's girl-group-era delivery that will make you
miss Amy Winehouse all over again." - Newsday

"With its throwback soul beat, its body-positive message couched in a cute metaphor,
and its dance-filled, candy-colored video, Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass"
couldn't have been better designed to go viral." - Entertainment Weekly

"She's a cheeky one, but the up-and-coming pop star has a charm that's hard to resist.
Her bubblegum hit is burning up the Billboard top 10 and the 20-year-old singer
could end up being the next Katy Perry." - New York Post

When she was still in high school, singer/songwriter MEGHAN
TRAINOR landed a deal with Nashville music publishing
company Big Yellow Dog and started writing songs for artists
from all corners of the music world. A multi-instrumentalist who
put out three albums on her own by the age of 17, the 20-yearold
Nantucket, Massachusetts native has penned tracks for
everyone from Grammy-winning country superstars RASCAL
FLATTS and Grammy-nominated country artist HUNTER HAYES
to reggae/rock/R&B group COMMON KINGS and Hot Chelle
Rae singer RYAN FOLLESÉ. Recently signed to Epic Records,
Meghan joined forces with Grammy-nominated producer/
songwriter Kevin Kadish (Miley Cyrus, Jason Mraz) for her
infectious debut single, "ALL ABOUT THAT BASS," a playful,
empowering and unapologetic pop anthem that encourages
girls to ignore the Barbie doll standard of beauty and love
    themselves inside and out.

The First Retrospective Of The Band's Music On Vinyl, Covering Their Years On Elektra And Atlantic

    Each LP Is Individually Numbered

180-Gram, Colored Vinyl Pressed At Record Industry

Comes In A Single Pocket Silver Foil, Tip-On, Stoughton Sleeve With Brand New Artwork

Includes 2 Of The Band's Early Singles: A Cover Of Them's "I Can Only Give You Everything," And An Early Original, "Looking At You," As Well As The Uncensored Version Of The Legendary Song, "Kick Out The Jams"

The MC5, born out of the ashes of industrial Detroit, recorded only 3 full-length albums and lasted less than a decade but left an indelible stain on the world of Rock & Roll both musically and culturally. Like their Detroit brothers The Stooges, they helped lay the initial groundwork for the punk movement with a simple, hard-driving, high energy, loud and gritty style of Rock that includes elements of garage rock, hard rock, blues and psychedelic rock.

Whether proven or otherwise, they influenced a laundry list of hard rockers such as Bad Brains, Black Flag, the Damned, Circle Jerks, Husker Du, The Melvins, The Dead Kennedys, The New York Dolls, Soundgarden, Rage Against the Machine, Pearl Jam, the White Stripes and many more. They are widely considered one of the most important and influential hard rock bands of the era.

This limited, numbered, color vinyl, Run Out Groove release is the first legitimate vinyl compilation of the band's Elektra and Atlantic recordings and belongs on every Rock collector's shelf, if not for the sonic music assault then the audacious packaging alone. This record provides a killer ensemble of tracks from their halcyon days, including the original uncensored version of "Kick Out the Jams." Stick alive with the MC5 and f%@! Run Out Groove!

40th Anniversary Issue Of The Pioneering Punk Club 'Max's 1976' Comp, Plus Bonus Max's Album And The Background Story

In 1976 the New York City club 'Max's Kansas City' entered a new musical phase, with the underground movement that became PuNk developing within its walls. The single was issued as a taster for the 40th anniversary of 'Max's Kansas City 1976' compilation album, now due for a much-extended reissuedon double-vinyl.

Alongside Wayne County it features Suicide, Cherry Vanilla, The Fast, Harry Toledo and more; now expanded with 20 more unsung underground heroes including The Offs, The Senders and The Stilettos, plus the Heartbreakers, New York Dolls, Iggy Pop, Nico, Gang War and Sid Vicious, including various previously unreleased recordings and rarities. When Smog Veil debuts new acts, we don't mess around. So, when Sylvain Sylvain, founding member of the New York Dolls and Cheetah Chrome, founding member of the Dead Boys, approached us to produce their new project, we knew this would be a perfect fit for the label and a rock'n'roll ripper like none other. Then we saw the band tear it up at SXSW2010, and we're convinced, this is a no-holds-barred shredder for sure.

The DOUBLE LP Is Limited To 250 Copies Only!

After a very long hiatus, the handsome young men in The Bamboo Kids have returned with not just an LP's worth of work, but a DOUBLE LP!

Though The Bamboo Kids may argue with that. Whatever. We geniuses here at Drug Front know a masterpiece when we hear it, and "Safe City Blues" is just that. An absolute rock-n-roll masterpiece. It's already being heralded by both Rev. Nørb (singer of Boris The Sprinkler/author of the new "The Annotated Boris") and Designated Dale from Razorcake and the much-missed Flipside magazine as contender for record of the year. Those two guys don't fuck around and mince words. They mean it. And we mean it, too! "Safe City Blues" was well worth the wait since their last LP that came out many years ago.

Just to give you an idea what's up, I will let Designated Dale wax poetic about The Bamboo Kids. He writes:

"Not too long ago, I reviewed an EP from the 'Kids in these very pages, and was pleasantly surprised that such a great rock'n'roll band like this exists these days. This double full-length, which includes the songs from that EP, further prove that NYC is far from finished when it comes to laying down the goods in the studio, as well as producing some of the better live acts that you and your more discriminating, music-craving pals can catch these days. Those keen on the vinyl will also be happy to know that the 150 gram vinyl version of this set is limited to 250 copies. Safe City Blues is a healthy dollop of getting your riffed-filled rocks off, and there's no correct side of the genre dividing line you have to stand on to appreciate these rekkids. Simply put, if you like good music (as Sam Cooke one time asked), chances are you'll have a helluva good time spinning this vinyl. The Bamboo Kids' soundscape mixes and matches with some of the better influences of our time: Dead Boys/Stiv's post-Dead Boys solo work, the non-wanking era of The Stones, that all-too-brief 1973 to 1974 window of the New York Dolls, a healthy dusting of Bowie's glitter era, the catchiness of Mott The Hoople, and those awesomely solid hooks that Dramarama still bring to the table to this day, and this is just what I hear the first couple of times around. Fans of Prima Donna should find the 'Kids right up their dirty little alley, as well. These three guys have been at it for ten years now, and not only does it keep getting more and more solid, but they deliver just as much as most four or five piece bands do. Yeah, think about that while you dig on this." Yep.

Let's just say that if you love rock-n-roll. You will love "Safe City Blues" by The Bamboo Kids.

    Realism (Out Of Stock)

The Magnetic Fields' third Nonesuch disc, Realism, is the flipside to the industrial pop of Distortion, the quartet's brilliant 2008 homage to, of all things, the clangorous sound of the Jesus and Mary Chain. While Distortion was recorded quickly and noisily in the stairwells and rooms of the New York City apartment building to which singer-songwriter-bandleader Stephen Merritt was about to bid adieu for California, Realism was cut in the distortion-free environs of a Los Angeles studio, and its sound is as pristine as a plein-air painting. There are no drum kits to be heard, and the fascinatingly varied instrumentation - guitars, accordions, violins, cellos, tablas, banjos, tuba, even a smattering of mellifluous falling leaves - did not need to be plugged in. And, as with Distortion, the album credits emphasize: No Synths.

With tongue only slightly in cheek, Merritt has taken to declaring Realism his folk album. To get the point across, there is an upbeat, sing-along number early in the set called We Are Having a Hootenany. Merritt's inspirations, however, were the orchestrated, mostly British folk of the late '60s/early '70s, which owe as much to '60s psychedelia as to traditional music, and the work of Judy Collins, who stretched the boundaries of folk with the chamber pop arrangements of such albums as In My Life and Wildflowers.

Like Collins, Merritt favors variety and theatricality. She skipped from Jacques Brel to the Beatles; he goes from the trippy, toy-box melodies of The Dolls' Tea Party and Painted Flower to the foot-stomping rhythms of The Dada Polka. There's even a deceptively festive holiday number, Everything Is One Big Christmas Tree, featuring a lusty chorus sung in German. In content, Merritt's songs veer between longing and loneliness, desire and dismissal, romance and revenge. Reality is as distorted as ever, and the characters who populate his songs are never just plain folk.

Along with his long-time band-mates Sam Davol, Claudia Gonson and John Woo, Merritt is joined again by vocalist Shirley Simms and accordionist Daniel Handler. Also on board: horn player Johnny Blood and violinist Ida Pearle, familiar to fans of Magnetic Fields' earlier, independently released work.
