Cosmic ThingFollow Your Bliss: 1989 Favorite Contains Radio Anthems Roam and Love Shack
Party-Starting Band Steps Up the Kitsch, Hooks, and Fun on Dance-Friendly Multi-Platinum Set
Addictive Rhythms, Deep Grooves, Quirky Vibes: LP Mastered on Mobile Fidelitys World-Renowned Mastering System and Pressed at RTI
Mention the phrase Love Shack and anyone youre talking to will immediately know to what youre referencing. Few songs stick in the brain with such lasting power, fond memories, and sing-a-long potential as the B-52s blissful 1989 smash, one of the many moments that make the bands Cosmic Thing such a timeless affair. The groups melodies were never sharper, its vibes never as carefree, and attitude as joyous as on this multi-platinum affair that stayed on the charts for more than a year.
Mastered on Mobile Fidelitys world-renowned mastering system at pressed at RTI, this Sliver Label LP dazzles with glorious textures, deeper low-end frequencies, more pronounced midrange information, and enhanced vocal dynamics absent from prior editions. Especially noticeable is the additional color and sense of rhythmic involvement in the already-persuasive pop-rock tunes, guaranteed to lighten any mood and ignite any celebration.
Urging listeners to roam around the world on one of the two Top 5 singles here, the B-52s follow their own instructions, constructing lively fare assembled from quirky riffs, bizarre albeit smooth harmonies, strident lead vocals, jagged tempos, and infectious choruses. At heart, Cosmic Thing is a dance-your-ass-off soiree. Leader Fred Schneider delights in kitsch, his deliveries combining goofy pronouncements and half-rapped words that speak the co-ed ensembles long tradition of originality, flair, campiness, and irreverence.
Better still is the bands embrace of a shinier, funkier sound established by producers Don Was and Nile Rodgers. The production, exponentially improved on this reissue, complements the upbeat energy, well-crafted songwriting, and emotional exuberance demonstrated on everything ranging from the kick-starting Bushfire to rambunctious Junebug to wild, weird, and wonderful Love Shack. Just try not to smile after spinning this LP. Its impossible.

Little Niles (Pure Pleasure)Randy Weston, one of the world's foremost pianists and composers, a true innovator and visionary. Starting with the gospel of bop according to Thelonious Monk, Weston gradually absorbed the letter and spirit of African and Caribbean rhythms and tunes, welding everything together into a searching, energizing, often celebratory blend. His piano work ranges across a profusion of styles from boogie-woogie through bop into dissonance, marked by a stabbing quality reminiscent of, but not totally indebted to Monk.
Combining the Ellingtonish arrangements of Melba Liston with the rhythmically intriguing explorations of Randy Weston this album represented a high point in his career at the time. All the tunes, written by Randy Weston, were inspired by his children Niles and Pamela. The innocence, excitement, anticipation and tension of childhood are all displayed here in these warm vinyl grooves.

About Pure Pleasure
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.
We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.
We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

In the early seventies, Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards were playing in rock
and soul bands across New York City and the east coast, meeting up with Tony Thompson along the way and forming the rudiments of what would become one of the most
powerful and successful pop/r&b units ever known as Chic.
By 1977, they sailed into the top rungs of the charts with their smash debut single
Dance, Dance, Dance along with the killer funk of their first album simply titled Chic.

Family StyleFamily Style is a fantastic Blues Rock album by the Vaughan Brothers, released in 1990. The album features the brethren guitarists and vocalists, Jimmie and Stevie Ray Vaughan, in their only studio collaboration.
In his early years, Stevie Ray Vaughan often remarked that he would like to do an album with his brother. He fulfilled that wish in his very last studio performance, which was released nearly a month after his death. The liner notes end with Thanks Mama V. for letting us play.
With slick production from Nile Rodgers and employing neither guitarist's band (Double Trouble nor the Fabulous Thunderbirds), this is bluesy, but far from purist. Jimmie makes his vocal debut on White Boots and Good Texan, and the brothers blur the lines between their expected guitar styles - Stevie sometimes going for a less sustainy twang, Jimmie moving into Albert King territory.1. More SoundtrackConcocted for director Barbet Schroeder's dystopian hippie road flick, this album marks Floyd's first venture into film scoring, a task they undertake with a verve that overshadows their lack of formal training in the field. With just a handful of cuts echoing the trippy, atmospheric space-rock that was so much a part of their early career, there's a surprisingly familiar dedication to songcraft evident here, especially for a soundtrack.
Roger Waters's acoustic ballads (Cirrus Minor, Crying Song, Green is the Color), dark and dirge-like, are familiar predecessors to music that would highlight Wish You Were Here and The Wall, while Dave Gilmour's slashing riffs on The Nile Song also foreshadow greatness to come. Moody and surprisingly eclectic, More has rightly earned its place as a Floyd cult fave. --Jerry McCulley1. Cirrus Minor

Ethiopia Super KrarEthiopia Super Krar is the debut album by London-based Ethiopian band, The Krar Collective. The group is steadily making waves at festivals and venues in the UK, headed by the trio: Temesegen Zeleke (a former pupil of the Ethio-jazz veteran Mulatu Astatke) on krar, Robel Tesfaye on traditional Ethiopian kebero drums, and singer-dancer Genet Assefa.
Inspired by the rich cultural diversity of Ethiopia, a land steeped in history of 80 different language and ethnic groups, The Krar Collective is, of course, all about the krar - a six-stringed harp-like instrument, tuned to a pentatonic scale that is characteristic of Ethiopian and Eritrean music. The krar is often played by singer-poets called azmari, similar to the west African griot, the Italian cantautore or British bard. The lyre itself is an ancient instrument that originated in the Nile River and spread across north and eastern Africa, Europe and Asia. Today the krar is used both as an acoustic, bass and electric instrument, and paired up to compliment the electric guitar.
Ethiopia Super Krar is rooted in tradition but remains undisputedly fresh. The tracks were recorded to tape on an original 1960s 24-track reel-to-reel machine, which lends a live quality to the recording. Zeleke describes their sound as "Ethiopian traditional music with a rocky edge. Someone called us 'the White Stripes of Ethiopia' cos we just have drums and six strings".
Rhythmically hypnotic, melodic, bluesy and upbeat, the Krar Collective have got us all shaking our shoulders to the ancient sounds of the krar.1. Guragigna

Dream CenterCouple Skate Records are extremely excited to announce the signing of
Los Angeles-based songwriter Michael Vidal. After years of blazing coasts
and continents, DIY enclaves and contempo-art spaces alike as the singer
/ guitarist of LA punks Abe Vigoda, Michael Vidal has stepped out of the
combustible, hyper-color tropical punk of his former group, and onto his own
into more pastoral, lush territory. Dream Center is Vidal's inaugural work,
originally released onto cassette in 2013 from LA label Big Joy, reissued onto
all additional formats from Couple Skate Records.
The music of Dream Center is a wonderful and diverse spectrum of looping,
beautiful guitar pop (featured on "Dreams" and "Appraisal") that evokes the
deeper emotional shades of the likes Blue Nile and Prefab Sprout, and crystalline
instrumental pieces ("Mono No Aware") reminiscent of Durutti Column
and the earlier days of Felt. All touchstones aside, the music of Vidal's Dream
Center is an impressionist paean to love, loss, and existence, an exciting new
beginning for a uniquely creative spirit.1. Dreams (Come Back To Me)

NotoriousNotorious is the fourth studio album by the English rock/pop band Duran Duran. Released in November 1986. Produced by the band with Nile Rodgers, the album showcased a new musical direction for the band, emphasizing bass and brass as exemplified by the singles Notorious and Skin Trade
Duran Duran personified new wave for much of the mainstream audience. Their reputation was built through music videos, which accentuated their fashion-model looks and glamorous sense of style. Each video the group made was distinctive, incorporating a number of cinematic styles to showcase the band as either part of the jet-setting elite (Rio) or as worldly adventurers (Hungry Like the Wolf). Between 1982 and 1984, they rocketed from underground British post-punk sensations to teen idols.
In 1981, Duran Duran became the leaders of the new romantic movement, and media sensations in the British music and mainstream press. The group's popularity increased through its cutting-edge music videos, especially the bizarre, racy clip for Girls on Film. the single became the group's first Top Ten hit, setting the stage for the fall release of its eponymous debut album. Duran Duran reached number three upon its release and stayed in the charts for 118 weeks.LP1

Ripcord (Awaiting Repress)RIPCORD features a virtual who's who of creative collaborators for an album that Urban says was his most exhilarating album to make, both musically and creatively.
This album's journey began back in January, 2015 and took me to a lot of unexplored people and places. added Urban. The end result was the recording and exploring of more songs then I've ever done before and carving that down to what I felt constituted RIPCORD.
For the 13-track album, which has already produced his 19th and 20th No. 1 songs, Urban amassed an eclectic group of Grammy, CMA, ACM Award-winning writers and co-producers, who that have collectively worked with the likes of Adele, Jason Aldean, David Bowie, Luke Bryan, Kelly Clarkson, Brett Eldredge, Fun, Lady Gaga, Jay-Z, Madonna, Daft Punk, Pink and Taylor Swift.
They include new collaborations with Jeff Bhasker, busbee, Greg Wells and Nile Rodgers, as well as those who Urban has worked with before, including Shane McAnally, Ross Cooperman, Dann Huff and Nathan Chapman all of whom worked with Urban on his previous No. 1 album FUSE.

BacklashBlack Joe Lewis & the Honeybears has reclaimed their original moniker and announced their fourth full-length album Backlash.
Backlash sees the return to their celebrated take on classic soul and punked-up R&B, though the album is their most stylistically adventurous work so far. Recorded in the band s hometown of Austin, TX, the 10-track album expands their sound by bringing gritty guitar tones and Stax-styled horn sections to intricate, danceable arrangements inspired by the likes of Nile Rodgers. I wanted to go for more of a soul/blues/rock-and-roll sound compared to the last one-the kind of stuff I was doing back in the day, but with the songwriting a little more evolved, notes eponymous frontman Lewis.
The album also confronts the ugly reality of dealing with the backlash from the things you ve done in the past, delivering a host of songs rooted in regret but steeped in a defiant spirit. Bombastic but nuanced, Backlash ultimately unfolds as an album both joyfully chaotic and intensely cathartic.

SiltWonderwheel Recordings is proud to present the debut album, Silt, from Sudanese singer Alsarah and her band the Nubatones. Called "The New Star Of Nubian Pop" by The Guardian, the album was produced solely by Alsarah who describes the sound of Silt as "East African Retro Pop". It's music that harkens back to the hazy sounds of 1960s and 70s Nubian music with it's haunting instrumentation, soaring vocal melodies, and pentatonic arrangements.
The album has it's musical roots in the Nubian "Songs of Return" that began to spring up after mass displacement and resettlement of hundreds of thousands in a region of lower Nubia that Went under water after Egypt built Aswan High Dam to Control the flooding of the Nile in 1970. The focus of these songs, both thematically and lyrically is about a return to home and the beauty of home and embodies a certain kind of saudade - a nostalgic longing for a place that no longer exists. The album encompasses Alsarah and her band's musical Curiosities around Concept of migration being all displaced immigrant themselves. Silt is their take on ' L ' the music of this time and place mixed with the fusion goings-on of Khartoum, along with Arabic and North African influences appearing in the mix.
Alsarah, is a Sudanese born singer, songwriter and ethnomusicologist. Born in the capital city of Khartoum, where she spent the first 8 years of her life, she relocated to Taez, Yemen with her family to escape the ever stifling regime in her native country. She abruptly moved to the US in 1994, when a brief civil war broke out in Yemen. Now residing in Brooklyn, NY, she is a self-proclaimed practitioner of East-African retro-pop. Working on various projects, she most recently has been working with The Nile Project and was featured on their debut release, Aswan (named one of the top 5 must hear International albums of 2013 by NPR). She has also collaborated with French producer Dêbruit on the album Aljwal, released this past November via Soundway Records.
The Nubatones started out as dinner conversation between Alsarah and percussionist Rami El Aasser in his living room, digging thru archives of old music from North Africa, and reading about migration patterns in modern day Nubia, Soon the conversation opened into a musical one and spread to include master Oud player and Luthier Haig Manoukian and bass player Mawuena Kodjovi. With a collective love for pentatonic music and a common understanding of what it means to be an immigrant, the group Went on to perform both nationally and internationally at prestigious venues such as The Kennedy Center, The Apollo Music Cafe, Celebrate Brooklyn at Prospect Park, The World Music festival in Chicago, and The Festival du Mon'd Arab in Montreal just to name a few.1. MadmanSean Rowe has spent much of the last year traveling the country with just his guitar, performing in people's living rooms. "It's like I'm some kind of a bearded salesman," he says, "Going door to door but instead of vacuum cleaners I'm selling all these feelings that come with the songs. It's a really intense experience for listeners to have me there in their homes playing. They're not used to having a stranger show up, play music, drink their beer and eat their food. But I think that's how we're supposed to be. It only feels strange because we've made it that way."
It is this same sense of unflinching connection that has shaped Rowe's extraordinary new album Madman. The singer, who The Wall Street Journal wrote "recalls the ecstatic intensity of late-'60s Van Morrison and stark subtlety of late-era Johnny Cash" has created a beautifully primal work. Madman is deliberately simple in both arrangement and composition. It is soul music in the purest and most literal sense, hypnotic rhythms, warmly distorted guitars and Rowe's incredible voice recalling a time, real or imagined, when music and people seemed
distinctly more connected.
The sound of Madman is influenced, in large part, by the hypnotic guitars of Delta blues. The influence is most apparent on the album's second track "Shine My Diamond Ring" with its guitar and stomping bass drum. "Desiree" is a raucous deconstructed take on early disco, with a pulsating bass, Nile Rogers-like guitar picking and a looser than ever Rowe singing with absolute abandon. But there are still the trademark ballads that first gained Rowe attention on his debut, Magic, showcases for the astonishing voice and honest emotional songwriting that continues to garner Sean Rowe much deserved acclaim.1. Double 1990 Grammy Award Winner: Best Contemporary Blues Album, Best Rock Instrumental Performance - "D/FW"
Stevie Ray had made music beyond the powers of most musicians but for this 1990 studio collaboration he returned to the things he loved: upbeat music and working with the brother he idolized his whole life. In his early years, Stevie Ray Vaughan often remarked that he would like to do an album with his brother. He fulfilled that wish in his very last studio performance, which was released nearly a month after his death. The liner notes end with "Thanks Mama V. for letting us play." With slick production from Nile Rodgers and employing neither guitarist's band (Double Trouble nor the Fabulous Thunderbirds), this is bluesy, but far from purist. Jimmie makes his vocal debut on "White Boots"
and "Good Texan" and the brothers blur the lines between their expected guitar styles - Stevie sometimes going for a less sustained twang, Jimmie moving into Albert King territory.
As we did with our vaunted box set reissues, Texas Hurricane, again Analogue Productions is bringing you the finest-sounding Stevie Ray Vaughan collections ever preserved on 200-gram vinyl. Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound cut the lacquers for the LPs using the ultimate VMS 80 cutting lathe. Gary Salstrom handled the plating and the vinyl was pressed of course at Quality Record Pressings.
There's not a link in this chain that wasn't absolute first-rate. The absolute best that money can buy. We're passionate about the blues AND Stevie Ray and the passion shows up here in spades.

True ColorsA Vocal Tour de Force: 1986 Sophomore Effort Stacked With Big-Name Guests and Ambitious Arrangements
Grammy-Nominated Double-Platinum Set Includes Internationally Recognized Title Track Plus Top 10 Singles "What's Going On" and "Change of Heart"
Illuminative Sonics: LP Mastered on Mobile Fidelity's World-Renowned Mastering System and Pressed at RTI
Cyndi Lauper could've easily played up the independent wild-child pop persona she established on her breakthrough debut until the trend faded. Instead, on her superb sophomore effort, the charismatic artist opts for a more mature and creatively ambitious program, inviting big-name guests and pursuing deeper instrumental textures on a set that goes far beyond the well-known title track. True Colors is a vocal tour de force, an expressive statement on which Lauper showcases singing steeped in emotion, phrasing, and earnestness.
Bringing Lauper's rich timbre to the fore, and mastered on Mobile Fidelity's world-renowned mastering system, this RTI-pressed LP presents the 1986 album in the finest fidelity it's ever enjoyed. Period touches such as synthesized drumbeats and layered keyboards no longer sound blatantly artificial or canned. Instruments now possess a warmer, fuller roundness that fleshes out their role in the compositions. And Lauper's vocals-at times balladic, soaring, plaintive, stylish, and celebratory-occupy a defined place in the mix, anchoring songs etched with tonal expressiveness and diverse arrangements.
An all-star cast aids Lauper in shaping what remains a colossally underrated record. Billy Joel (vocals), Adrian Belew (guitar), the Bangles (vocals), Aimee Mann (vocals), Nile Rodgers (guitar), and Rick Derringer (guitar) are among the guests. So is Pee Wee Herman, whose telephone operator role at the conclusion of "911" speaks to the fact that Lauper didn't abandon her whimsical nature even as she pressed forward. Cajun accents, soulful motifs ("What's Going On"), and joyous covers of traditional fare ("Iko Iko") keep the album pleasantly varied and accessibly offbeat.
Of course, Lauper also turns in, with "True Colors," what's arguably her career-defining moment, the chart-topping single radiating with gorgeous elegance and graceful phrasing that forced audiences to regard the performer in a different light. For her boldness, Lauper was rewarded with two Grammy nominations and a song that has since been covered by artists such as Phil Collins and appeared as the theme for the 1988 Olympic Games and 2003 Rugby World Cup.
Don't miss this chance to hear True Colors in the three-dimensional detail one gets from a high-definition television picture.
