Hesitation Marks180 Gram Vinyl Double LP Includes CD
Hesitation Marks is the new full-length album from Nine Inch Nails. Recorded in secret over the last year, Trent Reznor teamed with producers Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder to create the first new music from Nine Inch Nails in five years. Includes lead single Came Back Haunted.
The vinyl edition is pressed on two black 180 gram LPs housed in a gatefold jacket and includes a CD insert of the album.
• " ['Came Back Haunted'] rides a sleek electronic bassline over a jittery, popping beat that is increasingly overlaid with swirls of synthesizers as the tune builds to a slashing guitar break Reznor sings with restrained, clenched-jaw intensity, his voice enveloped by the music." - Rolling Stone
• " 'Came Back Haunted' is a snarling, twitchy throwback that announces Reznor's return in characteristic form." - Spin
• "A bouncy electronic track with flourishes of NIN's familiar gritty electric guitar." - BillboardLP 1

Pretty Hate Machine (2010 Remaster) (Awaiting Repress)Fans can now revisit the conception of Nine Inch Nails. Trent Reznor's Null Corporation has teamed up with UMe/The Bicycle Music Company to release Pretty Hate Machine: 2010 Remaster on 12/7/2010. After completing the score for David Fincher's The Social Network, Reznor oversaw the digital remastering of Pretty Hate Machine from the newly unearthed original tapes with engineer Tom Baker (whose NIN credits include The Downward Spiral, Broken, The Fragile, With Teeth and Ghosts). This remastered version includes an eleventh track, a cover of Queen's Get Down Make Love, originally the B-side to the Sin single and produced by Al Jourgensen. Rob Sheridan, NIN's longtime art director, has also re-imagined the packaging of Pretty Hate Machine under Reznor's supervision.
As a young musician in Cleveland, Ohia, Reznor took a job at a local recording studio and employed unused studio time to develop his own material. The nascent album was later recorded with his favorite producers including Flood/Mark Ellis (U2, Depeche Mode, PJ Harvey), John Fryer (Cocteau Twins, This Mortal Coil), Adrian Sherwood (Ministry, Cabaret Voltaire) and Keith LeBlanc (Trackhead). The result was the first Nine Inch Nails album, 1989's Pretty Hate Machine. All songs were written, arranged, programmed and performed by Reznor. The album featured the breakthrough singles Sin, Down In It and Head Like A Hole, and ultimately sold over 3 million copies, reaching Triple Platinum sales status. In the wake of the album's inital underground success, NIN soon developed a reputation as one of the best live acts in rock and jointed the inaugural Lollapalooza tour in 1991. NIN have since sold more than 18 million albums, collected Grammy Awards and headline arenas, amphitheaters and festivals worldwide.
The Bicycle Music Company acquired the rights to Pretty Hate Machine from a division of Prudential Securities in the spring of 2010. It was Bicycle's intention from the onset to enable Reznor to regain some control of this lost piece of NIN's legacy, resulting in this artist approved 2010 reissue of one of music's most groundbreaking and influential albums. Note: The previous CD version was reissued in 2005 but was not overseen by Reznor and is now out of print.
Reznor is currently working on new music as a member of the group How To Destroy Angels, continuing his Nine Inch Nails efforts and composing for future film score projects.1. Head Like A Hole

Ghettoville is the bleached out and black tinted conclusion of the Actress image.
Where the demands of writing caught the artist slumped and reclined, devoid of any soul, acutely aware of the simulated prism that required breakout.
Four albums in and the notes and compositions no longer contain decipherable language.
The scripts now carry tears, the world has returned to a flattened state, and out through that window, the birds look back into the cage they once inhabited.
Spitting flames behind a white wall of silence.
The machines have turned to stone, data reads like an obituary to its user.
A fix is no longer a release, it's a brittle curse. Zero satisfaction, no teeth, pseudo artists running rampant, but the path continues.

FoodOn the one hand, there is Kelis Rogers, who first came to prominence singing the hook of Ol' Dirty Bastard's 1999 hit 'Got Your Money'. This was the visually and sonically compelling 20 year-old whose debut album 'Kaleidoscope' helped usher in the wave of sharp, thrillingly futuristic R&B that dominated the charts in the early Noughties, as exemplified by her global hit, 'Milkshake'.
On the other there is Dave Sitek, guitarist in acclaimed Brooklyn experimentalists TV On The Radio and producer to a certain kind of smart, indie band (the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Foals and Liars to name a few).
'Food' is a startling combination of Kelis' most frank and vulnerable vocals to date, and Sitek's inimitable sonic imprint. Littered with transcendent, Spector-esque lift, warm bottom ends and vast depth, the music is the perfect backdrop for Kelis' unique voice. The latter has only improved with time and experience, and the album candidly explores pain, happiness and everything in between.
Recorded at Sitek's house in LA (and entirely produced by him), Kelis' new album, 'Food,' mints a sound that's rootsy without ever being self-consciously retro, that pitches live horns and gospel organ against electronics, that for all its classic soul and funk influences, couldn't have been made any time but now.1. Angels & DevilsIt's after the end of the world, don't you know that yet...
With recent reports from various think tanks predicting we have somewhere in the range of 15 years left before the collapse of society begins, it would seem like Kevin Martin's sonic predictions of dystopian London that were set out on 2008's London Zoo were pretty accurate. And if we are in fact declining rapidly to chaos, there's no better time then the present to take the focus of that sonic assault from earthly domains and blast it to the netherworlds above and below.
The aforementioned London Zoo is where Kevin Martin, found his true voice. Pulling the fringes into a collective, unilaterally hateful assault. A psychological warfare driven by bass that on one hand captured a moment of London, yet also encapsulated a global message influenced by years of timeless and classic out-music.
The latest offering from the The Bug, Angels & Devils, escapes the London cage, drawing on it for influence yet blowing it up into a world-view now seen from Kevin Martin's new Berlin home. A record that simultaneously draws on London Zoo, completes a triptych cycle which started with his Bug debut Pressure, and fills the spaces between and inserts what was missing previously. Both a year zero re-set and a continuation of what has been. Like the Bowie/Eno classic Low, or Can's Tago Mago, the album is split into two distinct themes and explorations of light & dark. Bringing the angel & devil voices together under a single common banner. Antagonist at times, but not solely for the sake of being antagonistic, there's a beauty and lush sparseness to be found within, even when at its most chaotic. Truly only The Bug could find the common ground between Liz Harris (of Grouper) & Death Grips and make it seamless. Angels & Devils stretches the polarity of its predecessor in both directions simultaneously and is even more extreme for its new found seductiveness and added intensity. Deep space is explored, and physical assault is administered. In these days of YouTube quick fixes, and single tune memory spans, its a joy to witness Martin actually charting a cohesive narrative that rejoices in celebrating life through sonic sex and violence, beauty and ugliness. This is an audio thriller that delights in pursuing its own singular path/vision.
With the Angel side(s) up first, things kick off with Liz Harris (of Grouper) in the submerged lushness that is Void. Followed by contributions from ex Hype Wiliams half copeland (Fall), the blissed out patois of touring partner Miss Red (Mi Lost), two truly zoned Bug instrumentals, and rounded out by Gonjasufi on Save Me. It's a collection of heady, dubbed out cinematic blissfulness with a lurking darkness before giving way to devils...
Devils leads off with the return of long time collaborator Flowdan on the mic and the guitar of Justin Broadrick (Godflesh / Jesu) bringing a complete about face to the proceedings and setting the tone with The One. Roll Deep's Manga steps up next with the instant Bug classic Function, which is being currently smashed on dubplate, by Mala, Kahn and Logan Sama. Death Grips raise the antagonistic bar with Fuck A Bitch. Flowdan & Justin Broadrick come back for the cinematic death crawl of Fat Mac. Warrior Queen steps in for hands down the nastiest vocal she's ever delivered (which is saying a lot) for Fuck You, and finally Flowdan steps up again to round it all off with a Devils battle cry of sorts dirty, fuck that murky....
The concept is completed by the artistic expression it's packaged in, courtesy of Simon Fowler (Cataract). Known for his work for Sunn O))), Earth, and others, Simon has delivered a stunning hand drawn illustration, that sort that would make Bosch proud, showing the duality of the proceedings.

Joined EndsIn October 2014, Austrian musician and producer Dorian Concept will present his singular musical vision in its most widescreen form to date. His second album Joined Ends is the biggest, boldest work of his career, and a sheer, technicolour audible joy. This album is sonic geometry at its finest. With layers upon layers of breathtaking chords, weighty bass lines and hypnotic synth phrases - the album sits somewhere between a floating lucid dream and a deep trip into a synaesthetic wonderland. The track Draft Culture made him realise he was "on to something, vibe-wise." Then the album began to take shape, very slowly but deliberately. In the past he had tended to work quickly finishing tracks within days, whereas each of the tracks on this the album was often a month-long process. For Joined Ends, he dropped his trademark MicroKorg and started working with new gear, building the album around a Wurlitzer electric piano and a handful of analogue synths. Sequencing only the beats, he based his songs on material he recorded live and then sampled. Concept says, "the new gear was important because the MicroKorg had been my main production unit for a long time. It really tied me down to my old sound. I've always been a fan of reduction, so working with analogue gear was a way for me to put my focus back on playing. It feels like my first musical cycle is closing and the start of a new one." With this in mind, he is expanding his much lauded live show into a trio with touring planned for the autumn.1. The Sky Opposite

Modern StreetsBeat Spacek is the latest project from UK vocalist/producer Steve Spacek, a man who should really need no introduction. With boundless abilities, his work transcends genre and style - instead focusing more on swing, melody, vibe and atmosphere. From his legendary output with the band Spacek - Curvatia (2001), Vintage Hi-Tech (2003); solo work on the cult Sound In Color imprint and collaborations with the late, great J.Dilla; to his under-the-radar Black Pocket project for dBridge's Exit Records and his most recent work with Mark Pritchard as one half of Africa HiTech, his fearless approach to creation has always been progressive and highly original.
Beat Spacek sees him once again take the reigns as a solo artist creating a record that is as much a love letter to the future as it is an ode to the past. Created largely using iPhone and iPad apps, the album once again finds Steve liberated through new technologies, excited by the prospects of "the new" whilst expressing notions of the past. It's a journey through the evolution of modern Britain from a futurist perspective.
Framed against a particular period in the 1980s when Steve was growing up as a young man in New Cross, South East London, Modern Streets is rooted in the duality of the past and the future. Flim-Flams was the club where he first experienced the clash of sounds and styles that characterised South London's racial, ethnic and cultural melting pot. A spot where Punks, Soul Heads, New Romantics, Dread Locks and Skinheads all converged brought together through a love of music and new sounds.
From the paranoid, post-punk, sleng teng musings of I Wanna Know to the nu wave pop-powered love song Inflight Wave, Modern Streets is a direct reflection of that experience, envisioned through the mind of a 21st Century Rudeboy. Ghanaian Highlife is re-imagined in digital form on Tonight; Stand Firm tips its hat to the dancehall with a futuristic rinse; whilst the sub-bass powered anthem Alone in Da Sun draws on the finest elements of dubstep's sonic vocabulary and reworks them into a loose, new age club jam, brimming with soul and charisma.1. ProjectionsGreat dance music albums - albums that sound as good on headphones and home speakers as they do on club soundsystems - aren't easily made. In a form whose primary aims have been to move dancefloors and to move on, full lengths that thrill the head, heart and the feet with equal power are few and far between. We believe Romare has made one.
With the gripping shock of the new that announces the best records of the genre - from Entroducing through Blue Lines to Ambient Classics - Romare has both a singular style, and great deal to say with it. Projections comes off like Voodoo Ray reworked by DJ Shadow; its drumming littered with infectious swing, its samples illuminating and attention gripping, its atmosphere pronounced and consistent, and its riffs and hooks heavy - and unabashedly joyous.
The album is a heady mix of homage and fresh approach, a statement from a young artist unafraid to revel in his influences, and confident in his own originality. The songs on Projections are homages to elements of American/African culture in the USA - which Romare studied academically. Taking his name from Romare Bearden, the well-known cut'n'paste artist / collagist, and applying similar techniques to music.
Rainbow is a homage to gay rights via disco in the 70's, and Work Song to the great American work song tradition. Opener "Nina's Charm" sets out the stall for the album. A tiny, near spoken snippet of Nina Simone's voice is set against a hypnotic synth riff and a dislocated gospel-choir chant. The result is something utterly fresh; a tone setter that worms through the ear and floods the brain in soothing catharsis. "Motherless Child" opens with a shuffling jazz swing, allowing its sample of the African-American spiritual from which it takes its title to shine in full. When a simple, riff-like melody arrives, the song transforms into a sultry, glorious slow-dance workout. "Lover Man's" striking, cut-up synth riff is set up against chiming stabs and slurred chords, a snatched, swing vocal enticing us in to the wonkiest of grooves.
Romare reimagines the profound cultural impact of the collage technique for a new generation of music listeners. With his signing to Ninja Tune, coming hot on the heels of his excellent 12"s on underground institution Black Acre, and compilation inclusions by Tiga, Bonobo and Brownswood, the stage is set for his debut album. Projections, like the best albums from the dance music world, is informed by scenes and genres but not entirely of them. It's a self-contained universe that rewards much exploration. Most of all, it's excited about the possibilities within music, and vastly exciting itself.1. Nina's Charm

By The Sea and Other Solitary PlacesAnnabel and Richard met despite being divided by the Atlantic Ocean. She, a New York-based vocalist, was searching for a way out of the madness of monotony, singing jazz and cabaret standards by numbers. He, a London-based Yorkshire-man, was a highly respected though discontented dance music arranger/producer who knew it was only a matter of time before he would chance upon the river of uncharted waters. She no longer suppressed her enduring appreciation for English prose and poetry (as a child, she would spend countless days in a dreamlike state, memorizing and reciting classics to anyone who would listen, often quietly to herself), and it was that love and ability to best express herself via her own poetic writings, combined with her vocal prowess, that allowed Annabel to creatively break free. His admiration for all things William Blake (in addition to similar artistic forms of Romanticism), combined with production and arrangement skills, paved the way for a distinct and definitive project of endless possibilities.1. Pattern of ExcelWhat moves faster than the internet? OK, maybe light. But besides that, it's hard to find something more fleeting, rapidly changing and dynamic as the voice of the online community, which ultimately shapes the contemporary creative landscape both on and off the screen. As it happens, sometimes the artists who are most celebrated by the collective interweb are the same ones who later are in the throes of its fickleness. In the case of Lee Bannon, he's managed to slip into the elite of so many disparate (yet all discerning) scenes that even the speediest of hype surfers can't seem to keep up with his sonic shapeshifting. After an initial rise in the world of hip-hop (self-releasing beat tapes, collaborating with rap royalty like Souls of Mischief and Hieroglyphics and producing and DJing for Joey Bada$$ and the Pro Era crew), Lee Bannon turned his attention to a more ambitious, unconventional and decidedly anti-fad cause: taking influence from Goldie, Aphex Twin and the legacy of drum & bass and jungle to craft his debut LP Alternate/Endings. The album, released in January 2014 on Ninja Tune, was percussively dense, somehow both raw and razor-sharp, and featured enough peaks and plummets to blow the snapback right off the expectant hip-hop head's skull. Despite (or perhaps because of) the bold shift from previous work, the album was released to critical acclaim with words of praise coming from Rolling Stone, Resident Advisor, FACT, Pitchfork, The Guardian and more. Never one to stagnate, Lee Bannon has spent the subsequent months further honing his skills as a hotly-tipped collaborator (working more with Joey Bada$$, Wiki and producing Mick Jenkins' newest single, as well as more credits to come later this year), touring extensively (including a run with Trash Talk and Ratking in North America) and turning his attention once more to the studio for solo work. His sophomore LP on Ninja Tune, Pattern of Excel, again signals a movement away from the ground he's already covered and toward his own vision of the leftfield future. Gone are the rapidfire breaks and growling b-lines of his debut, replaced instead by a considered exploration of ambient soundscapes and drone influences. Though less immediately demanding of the listener's attention, Pattern of Excel shines in its quietude: the bokeh which filters through Artificial Stasis, the distant but steady build of Memory 6, the strings sadly quavering into a melody on Disneµ Girls. Rather than a departure, Pattern of Excel can only be considered a continuation of Lee Bannon's proven flexibility and commitment to innovation and progression.1. Good / Swimmer

Jaga Jazzist '94-'14It's hard to believe that the Norwegian 8-piece band (founded on the Horntveth triumvirate - Lars, Martin and Line) is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, in 2014. Not that there aren't other groups that have lasted as long, but look for a group whose primary composer was just 14 when the whole thing began, find a band where five out of its eight current members were there when everything started in 1994, and scope out one that has managed to remain as stylistically enigmatic and impossible to categorise as... well, you get the idea.
And so we thought it fitting to mark the band's 20th year with a unique, limited edition vinyl box set featuring a special reissue of the landmark album 'A Livingroom Hush' (2004). Also in the box: 2 crisp 12s featuring exclusive reworks based on elements from the album Jaga Jazzist Live with Britten Sinfonia from a stellar cast of remixers Warp Records stalwart Clark; breakbeat scientist Machinedrum; Brainfeeder's sonic dreamweaver Teebs; Mellowdrone founder Jonathan Bates aka Big Black Delta; LA-based composer, orchestrator, conductor, multi-instrumentalist and producer Miguel Atwood-Ferguson (Cosmogramma, You're Dead, Suite For Ma Dukes, Build An Ark); Werkdiscs' rising star MoirÉ; Hoya:Hoya co-founder Illum Sphere; and Stockholm's Invader Ace.

8 Mile Original SoundtrackThis may be the soundtrack for Eminem's movie debut, but don't think of 8 Mile of as an Eminem album, because it's not. It's a soundtrack and plays like a soundtrack, with many cuts from current stars and new artists (several associated with Eminem's fledgling Shady imprint), plus a couple of previously released tracks, most of it very high quality, whether it's a hard-hitting Jay-Z, a sultry Macy Gray, or Taryn Manning's Boomkat's sexy slow burn Wasting My Time. Sure, there's a couple of tracks that fall flat -- Young Zee and Obie Trice feel strained -- but it all flows well, and it's all strong. But it's also all overshadowed by four blindingly great new songs from Eminem (four and a half, if you count his show-stealing appearance on D-12's Rap Game), all illustrating a step forward from The Eminem Show, even if they work a familiar pseudo-biographical ground. What impresses is not just the wordplay and delivery, but the music itself -- fuller, richer than anything on his previous records, appropriately cinematic in scope and pushing Eminem toward new heights. The opening track and first single Lose Yourself is easily equaled by the title song with its layered pianos, while Rabbit Run is nearly as good. Hearing these, it's hard not to greedily hunger for a full album of this, but the soundtrack is excellent as is and these new Eminem cuts make it a necessary purchase.

Still constantly touring, gathering new fans and respected as one of the world's finest rock/blues guitarist there is no stopping Walter as he prepares for a busy year ahead. Currently being written by Henry Yates and will lift the lid on Walter's hell raising life on the road, and guaranteed to be a page turner of epic proportions.
A lesser artist might rest on such laurels. As Walter Trout powers into his quarter decade as a solo star, there's no whiff of the ennui or creative autopilot that hobbles the later output of most veterans. On the contrary, there's a sense of growing momentum, perhaps even of a little surprise. "It's hard to believe I'm still alive, to be honest," he smiles. "I should have been dead by 30, with the life I was leading. But I still have a career, and at 62, I'm still climbing the ladder, which keeps it exciting, instead of trying to rekindle past glories. I feel like I play with more fire than when I was 25. I'm still reaching, y'know ?"LP1

Erika M. Anderson first graced the limelight under
the guise of EMA in May 2011, when the brilliantly
scuffed debut album Past Life Martyred Saints was
released to a multitude of acclaim. After fronting
the genre-defying cult duo Gowns, Past Life
Martyred Saints offered a deeper glimpse into the
world of EMA.
If Past Life Martyred Saints was an inward
exploration of human relationships and their
toll, The Future's Void catapults them out into
space, both thematically and musically. Drawing
from references as diverse as The Neuromancer,
NIN & riot grrl, the album meditates on universal
themes of how we interact with the wider world
and how that interaction is increasingly modified
"This record is the sound of resistance to digital
commodification" Erika explains. "I naturally
gravitate towards hooks and melodies and in
some ways, the structure of these songs is the
poppiest yet. The harshness and production
strikes a balance with that so they don't sound like
they could be on adverts."1. Satellites
