    Tourist History

Northern Irelands Two Door Cinema is a music-mad trio whose debut album fizzes with invention and sparkling tunes. Rooted in rock and pop, with elements of electronica/electro, and Afro-beats, the sum is greater than any indie electro pop parts

Recorded in London at Eastcote Studios and produced by Elliott James (Bloc Party, Noah And The Whale) with a number of tracks mixed by Phillipe Zdar (Phoenix, Justice, Cassius), the album simply multiplies the singles surfeit of ideas and sounds. The opening track, Cigarettes In The Theatre, perfectly displays the bands light-footed yet hard-driving energy, highlighted by Alexs vocal melody, with its almost dreamy brand of urgency. Its followed by Come Back Home, a sequel of sorts; introducing a bed of woozy synths that build and act as a launching pad for a digi-funk backdrop that bounces, swings and rocks behind Alexs confessions of relationships-past.

Tor recorded his debut EP, Headlights, with producer Eliot James (Noah and the Whale, Two Door Cinema Club,
Plan B, Bloc Party). "Headlights" is the title track of Tor's new EP, which also includes "Hold the Phone," a song
from Tor's dorm-basement days that he recorded on his iPhone, and which first gained traction when Zane Lowe

Alas I Cannot Swim (Awaiting Repress)

Ribbon Music is pleased to announce deluxe re-issues of Laura Marlings first two critically acclaimed albums; Alas I Cannot Swim and I Speak Because I Can on LP. Alas I Cannot Swim was the young British singer/songwriters debut album originally released in 2008. The recording features contributions by Charlie Fink and Tom Hobden (Noah and The Whale) and Marcus Mumford (Mumford & Sons).

Since her emergence onto the London music scene in 2007 Laura Marling has steadily secured her position as one of the most exciting musical talents of her generation. By the tender age of 21 she has already won a BRIT award and been nominated for the UK Mercury Music prize twice. While so many artists of any age attempt to locate their inner child, Marling with a sometime steely gaze, measures the prerogatives of youth against the looming realities of adulthood, the specter of mortality, the betrayals of love, the balm of sex, the yearning for companionship, the need for independence. As the Times Of London recently posited, Who else is making music as ambitious, as haunting, as centuries-straddling, as thought provoking and artistically tenacious as this? And the answer is: nobody. No, really. Not a soul.

Marling, who started out, briefly but auspiciously, with a stint in the group Noah and the Whale, was a mere 16 when she independently released her first singles and almost immediately gained serious stature as a key figure on Britains burgeoning young folk scene, alongside such artists and friends as singer/actor Johnny Flynn and Mumford & Sons. The two startlingly self-assured albums that followed, Alas I Cannot Swim (2008) and I Speak Because I Can (2010), brought the self-effacing and relatively shy Marling an extraordinary level of acclaim in her homeland, with each of them in turn being nominated for the U.K.s prestigious Mercury Prize. Remastered on 180g vinyl with deluxe gatefold packaging.

Homeless and a recovering drug addict, James Bowen (Luke Treadaway) is running low on his luck and finds a ginger cat at his home. From that point onwards, the two lives become entwined.

Roger Spottiswoode's English feature is based on the bestselling novel A Street Cat Named Bob.

After their story was published in a local newspaper, Bowen was offered a book deal in 2010 and has since published six bestsellers detailing his life and travels with his ginger cat.

Bob has also become something of a celebrity in his own right, receiving the most fan mail of any Hachette author and boasting 72,000 followers on Twitter. They cast multiple cats to play Bob but in the end, Bob played himself for most of the film.

Charlie Fink has written six original songs especially for the film, all of which feature on this soundtrack. He is a British singer-songwriter, producer and filmmaker and is best known for fronting the indie band Noah and the Whale.

The songs have prominent placement in the film and are sung on screen at key moments in the story by the main protagonist James, busking on the streets of London.

David Hirschfelder is recognized globally as one of Australia's most distinguished screen-composers, having garnered Oscar nominations for Scott Hicks' Shine and Shekhar Kapur's Elizabeth. He is also the winner of two BAFTA (British Academy) awards for Strictly Ballroom and Elizabeth. David's recent film-scores include Craig Monahan's Healing which is nominated for APRA and FCCA Awards.

    I Speak Because I Can
