Oklahoma! (Original Cast Album 75th Anniversary)

A groundbreaking "integrated" show that ushered in a new era in Broadway musicals, Oklahoma! also holds the
unique distinction of having been the first stage production to spawn an original cast album. Upon its release on
December 2, 1943, the recording became an instant success, paving the way to a new musical genre, the
"Broadway cast album," that has been flourishing ever since, and changing the way the theatrical and music
    industries intermingle.

Whiskey Myers debut album, Road Of Life, established the guys as a worthy heir to Skynyrd s blue-collar tradition. The sinewy sound and intense musical interplay worked well in concert, and dates began piling up in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Since September 2009, they have been touring throughout Texas and Oklahoma as well as the Midwest and the Southeast. The band's sophomore release, Firewater, ups the ante and solidifies Whiskey Myers as the genre-blending diamond in the rough, whose music has captured the attention of fans and critics alike. Produced by Leroy Powell, former guitarist for Shooter Jennings, and recorded at the famed Panhandle House in Denton, TX.

    Fear In Bliss

Bella Union is excited to release Fear In Bliss, the debut album from
recent signings HORSE THIEF. This youthful band is a purveyor of a
panoramic yet nuanced sound, flowing from intimate to anthemic,
the mood from vibrant to contemplative, with front-man Cameron
Neal's lyrics ranging from confessional to metaphorical. The result
evokes the wide-open spaces of America's Midwest but infuses the
sense of grit and wonderment with edgier emotions.

Horse Thief, originally founded in Denton, TX, moved to Oklahoma
City to attend the Academy of Contemporary Music at the University
of Central Oklahoma, from which they recently graduated. The band
subsequently signed with the Flaming Lips' management and soon
came to the attention of Bella Union. Though Fear In Bliss was
conceived at Horse Thief's Oklahoma headquarters the band
decided to record the album in LA, "to leave our comfort zone of
Oklahoma", and producer Thom Monahan (Devendra Banhart,
Vetiver) has helped the band fuse their renowned stage performance
    with studio quality.

The over-arching theme to Fear In Bliss is "finding yourself and what
you believe in, and finding the comfort in acknowledging fear. I've
struggled with anxiety and depression which comes out a lot on the
new album. But when everything gets rough, I think there's always a
way to fix it. The biggest thing for me is to give comfort to people,
to shed light on the truth that someone is feeling the same way as
    them.

Inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1993, Lowell Fulson (he also recorded for business reasons as Lowell Fullsom and Lowell Fulsom). The Tulsa, Oklahoma native was a big-voiced blues-guitarist and songwriter in the West Coast Blues tradition. Along with T-Bone Walker, Fulson was one of the most important figures in West Coast blues. 1995's Clouds Taste Metallic is the seventh full-length release from Oklahoma City's otherworldly provocateurs The Flaming Lips. Further refining what pop music can sound like as well as how its presented, each of the album's 13-tracks are given mind bending titles and are elaborately adorned in a cosmic carnival like atmosphere, yet remain wonderfully universal at their core. Featuring the fan favorites This Here Giraffe and Christmas at the Zoo, Clouds Taste Metallic also served as the culmination of the Flaming Lips guitar-heavy vision since it would be the last to include guitarist Ronald Jones.

The Oklahoma band BRONCHO crafts sing-along anthems that combine punk and garage-rock. It combines the best elements of both genres: raw guitar
chords and energy, plus DIY sentiment, but with hi-fi production.

Harkening back to punk rock's glory days of the 70s, BRONCHO captures the aggression, authenticity and youthful exhilaration of a bygone era. With
echoes of The Replacements, Iggy and the Stooges and The Ramones, BRONCHO is a blisteringly cathartic flash of gritty, crunching guitar work
supported by an assaultive rhythm section and made whole by songwriter Ryan Lindsey's aggressive, yelping vocal work.

The Five Americans, five Oklahoma kids who blew the roof off the national charts when they moved to Dallas in 1966 and cut smashes like I See the Light and Western Union, recorded plenty of swaggering garage material just before their chart-topping days at Abnak Records. With the full cooperation of the band, Sundazed has unearthed a Texas-sized load of fuzzy 'n primitive Americans sides that have never seen the light of day, as well as the master tapes for the band's ultra-rare Jetstar singles, circa '64-'66. Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, the Tulsa, Oklahoma institution founded by pianist Brian Haas returns with a new full length album, Stay Gold. The effort refines JFJO's singular vision that's been dubbed 'Red Dirt Jazz,' sounding equal parts earthy and nimble, pastoral and sweeping, elegant and free. The quartet taps into their birthright, drawing upon 'The Tulsa Sound' born of hometown heroes like JJ Cale, Bob Wills and Leon Russell, while growing these roots from a jazz foundation that's built firmly upon the influence of giants such as Duke Ellington and Thelonious Monk, JFJO recorded the album at acclaimed engineer/musician David Teegarden's Natura Digital Recording Studios just outside of Tulsa. The eight-track effort captures the band's strongest songwriting and most compelling improvisations to date.

    Watermelon Slim Direct-To-Disc

Bill Watermelon Slim Homans is nothing if not a renaissance man. He attended Middlebury College in Vermont on a fencing scholarship but dropped out to enlist in the Army for the Vietnam War. While laid up in a Vietnam hospital bed, he taught himself upside-down, left-handed slide guitar. He worked as a truck driver, a forklift operator, a saw mill hand, a funeral officiator and at times as a small-time criminal. Due to the latter vocation, he fled Boston to lay low in Oklahoma where he farmed watermelons, hence his stage name. Hes earned two undergrad degrees along with a master's. He painted art and briefly joined Mensa. Oh, and he likes to read Shakespeare and bowls a steady 240.

No surprise then that he draws from a plenty diverse range of influences to form his unique brand of raw and honest blues. Its music as interesting as the man.

    The Terror

The nine grim, harrowing songs that comprise the Flaming Lips thirteenth studio album The Terror are as much a paradigm shift in the Lips' sound as Zaireeka and The Soft Bulletin before it. Recorded on and off last year at Tarbox Road Studios with longtime co-producer Dave Fridmann in the wee hours between Heady Fwends collaborations, the album finds the Lips favoring heavy-lidded loops and drum machine mesmerism. Traces of Silver Apples, Suicide, Can, Beak>, and Broadcast abound, riding motorik grooves that push everything all deep into Wayne Coyne's heart of darkness. Or, as he put it from his compound in Oklahoma City, these were songs to be sung from this despondent futuristic dystopian church.

The Ramblin' Man is an album by Waylon Jennings, released in 1974. With a slightly more commercial sound than some of his previous records, The Ramblin' Man remained true to Jennings' outlaw country image and uncompromising musical vision.

The album was released at what was still considered to be the height of the outlaw movement in Country music, and this was reflected in its chart success, with the LP peaking at #3 on the Country charts. Jennings produced it himself, with Ray Pennington co-producing Oklahoma Sunshine and I'm a Ramblin' Man.

The album also includes a gutsy cover of the Allman Brothers' Midnight Rider, cementing Jennings' fearless reputation as a leader of the progressive Country sound.

Hit Maker And Musician's Musician Struck Chart Gold With 1972 Album Carney

Analogue Productions Reissue On 200-Gram Vinyl

Mastered By Kevin Gray At Cohearent Audio From The Original Master Tapes

Plated And Pressed At Quality Record Pressings

Heavyweight Tip-On Old-Style Jacket From Stoughton Printing

With his trademark top hat, hair well past his shoulders, a long, lush beard, an Oklahoma drawl and his fingers splashing two-fisted barrelhouse piano chords, future Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Leon Russell cut a flamboyant figure in the early 1970s. He recorded his first hit single Tight Rope with the release of his third, and most successful album Carney, in 1972, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 200.

Two years earlier Russell had already played on hundreds of songs as one of the top studio musicians in Los Angeles. The Oklahoma-born pianist, guitarist, songwriter and bandleader led Joe Cocker's band Mad Dogs & Englishmen, appeared at George Harrison's 1971 Concert for Bangladesh in New York City and composed numerous hits of his own. He was in Phil Spector's Wall of Sound Orchestra and played sessions for Frank Sinatra, Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin, the Ventures and the Monkees, among many others.

But it was the top-rated Carney, reissued here on an audibly exquisite 200-gram LP from Analogue Productions, that put Carney into the league of extraordinary musicians. Soulful roots-rock yields to dizzying psychedelia on this, Russell's most famous album. His all-time biggest hit, Tight Rope, leads to Out in the Woods, Cajun Love Song, This Masquerade, and more! No link in the reissue chain was sacrificed, making this outstanding reissue a true audiophile masterpiece. Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio remastered the album from the original master tapes; plating and pressing took place at Quality Record Pressings, makers of the world's finest-sounding LPs. Lastly, as benefits a stellar reissue, we packaged our version in a heavyweight old-style tip-on jacket from Stoughton Printing.

Russell wrote scores of hits for others, among them Superstar, (written with Bonnie Bramlett) for the Carpenters, Delta Lady for Joe Cocker and This Masquerade, for George Benson. His own version of This Masquerade is featured on Carney. More than 100 acts recorded A Song for You, which Russell said he wrote in 10 minutes. Ray Charles' recording of the song in 1993 received a Grammy Award.

Sadly, Russell's life as a musical muse and performer ended with his death at 74 on Nov. 13, 2016, at his home in Nashville. He will be forever remembered for making a broad, sophisticated palette of American music sound down-home and natural.

    Town Hall Party 1958

Just turned 21 and beautiful beyond words, Wanda Jackson ripped through a red-hot, live Town Hall Party rockabilly session in 1958 that helped define the parameters of this raw, young music. Discovered singing on an Oklahoma radio station only two years earlier by honky-tonk recording star Hank Thompson and encouraged to cut loose musically by genre superstar/touring partner (and onetime boyfriend) Elvis Presley, Jackson was a perfect fit for Town Hall Party, the Los Angeles-based TV show that had already welcomed sets by rockin' luminaries Gene Vincent, Carl Perkins and Eddie Cochran. Backed by old friend and King of the Strings guitarist Joe Maphis, Jackson was in her element for the Town Hall Party session, tearing into Mean, Mean Man, a career-defining tune she'd recorded only a few months earlier. Highlights of Jackson's set also include Rock Your Baby, her current Capitol Records single, and Alone (With You), a Faron Young chart-topper, as well as her show-stopping finale, Jackson roaring through Hard Headed Woman, a scorcher from Elvis' current movie, King Creole. Jackson would soon become a substantial force on the country music charts, specializing in aching, honky tonk ballads for the rest of her career. Still touring today to rabid fan reaction, Jackson has never forgotten her red-hot rockabilly roots. And no live session ever caught Wanda Jackson as wild and rocking as she was on Town Hall Party in 1958, now available on Sundazed's high-definition, ten-inch vinyl.

From The Ground Up (Awaiting Repress)

From The Ground Up is the debut studio recording from singer/songwriter John Fullbright. Working off the success of his debut live album, Live at the Blue Door, Fullbright has been gathering a strong fan base, one fan at a time through consistent touring throughout Texas and Oklahoma and a live show that continues to develop and strengthen each time he steps on stage.

Although still in his early '20s, Okemah, OK native Fullbright writes and sings like he's been around for years. Firmly rooted in a variety of American musical styles, John has crystallized his influences into a sturdy foundation of solid songwriting and astute musicianship. His early inspirations were the folk/country songs of Mickey Newbury and Townes Van Zandt, along with the philosophical bent of Woody Guthrie, who always admonished songwriters to write what you see.

His virtuosic abilities on both the piano and guitar, combined with timeless lyrics throughout From The Ground Up certainly sets Fullbright apart from his many contemporaries, both young and old. From the spiritually influenced Gawd Above (Lord God Almighty and Satan and St. Paul to the poignantly satirical Fat Man, John Fullbright is making his initial mark as a truly gifted writer, singer, player and performer, all before the age of 25. Can't Get Past The Lips

Harkening back to punk rock's garage glory days of the 70s and early 80's, Oklahoma outfit Broncho captures the aggression, DIY authenticity and youthful exhilaration of a bygone era and then drags it by the hair into the Here and Now, creating a fresh sound that's unlike anything being played today.

Perhaps the best debut album of 2011 came by way of BRONCHO, a garage-punk quartet from Norman, Okla. Frontman Ryan Lindsey is better known as the keyboardist for the Starlight Mints, but this side project has been touring the Midwest since early 2010. Can't Get Past the Lips hit stores this August, and Try Me Out Sometime was an instant standout. It's not a complex song, by any means, and the simplicity is fantastic because the execution is so strong. Three chords are plenty enough backdrop for Lindsey to yelp out the hooks. Watch the excellent music video, in which the band barges into unsuspecting, unlikely venues - stores, major intersections, a college classroom - and performs increasingly disastrous versions of the song before darting out. BRONCHO has never played a show outside a narrow corridor from Austin to Chicago, so coast-dwellers will have to cross their fingers for that to change soon. -NPR

    These Changing Skies (Awaiting Repress)

The five members of Elephant Revival share a deep commitment to certain ideals: community, recognizing one's place in the flow of the natural world, harmony. Holding on to those ideals in the midst of heady career growth and strong individual
creative forces could be difficult, but they weather these storms with aplomb, and in doing so, have produced their best album to date. It is a document about striving for transcendence under These Changing Skies which was recorded at legendary
Bear Creek Studio in Woodinville, WA and was produced and mixed by Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers, Brandi Carlile, The Walkmen).

Elephant Revival formed on the banks of Spring Creek in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and then relocated to Nederland, Colorado in fall of 2006. They loved one another's sense of shared values and the way that their disparate musical influences began to form a more cohesive tapestry the more they played together.

"It really is a natural confluence of our elemental influences," says bassist/multi-instrumentalist Dango Rose. Those elemental influences extend beyond the musical to a world view that is expressed not only through the music, but in their lyrics.

    When The Smoke Clears

The group likes to rock the house and roll the heart - Billboard

It's difficult to choose a standout track, because every song is strong and catchy - Lithium Magazine

The multi-platinum Oklahoma City hard rockers Joe Blower Garvey, Mark King, Mike Rodden, and Cody Hanson - entered the studio in the spring to begin recording a brand new effort which will be co-produced by Hanson and Marshal Dutton. There are no boundaries, and every idea is going to be fair game throughout the process. Hanson says, We like to think we can do anything. We don't want to be stuck in a rut with one type of sound or formula. One song might have a country influence, while another might have a pop influence. Then, there are some heavy metal moments. We have every element covered on this record. You've got to do what's best for the song. After nearly a decade, Hinder are stronger than ever. Hanson concludes, This band was built around a strong core of hard work and friendship. Like it or not, we're going to be around for a long time.

    Songs

I just wanted to write really good songs, and with that outlook, everything else is a perk. -John Fullbright

That plainspoken approach is part of what's fueled the young Oklahoman's
remarkable rise. It was just two years ago that Fullbright released his debut studio
album, From The Ground Up, to a swarm of critical acclaim from such notable
sources as LA Times, Wall Street Journal, NPR-to say nothing of his GRAMMY
    Nomination for Best Americana Album.

But for Fullbright, it hasn't been all the acclaim that means the most to him, but
rather his entrance into a community of songwriters whose work he admires.
When I started out, I was all by myself in a little town in Oklahoma where whatever
you wanted, you just made it yourself, he explains. One of the most fulfilling
things about the last two years is that now I'm surrounded by like-minded people
    in a community of peers.

The arrangements on Songs are stripped down to their cores and free of ornamentation. Fullbright's guitar and piano anchor the
record, while a minimalist rhythm section weaves in and out throughout the album. The performances are stark and direct,
though, a deliberate approach meant to deliver the songs in their purest and most honest form. Fullbright inhabits his songs' narrators completely, his old-soul voice fleshing out complex characters and subtle narratives with a gifted sense of understatement.

To be sure, Songs has its moments of darkness, tracks born from pain and heartbreak, but for a craftsman like Fullbright, there
are few greater joys than carving emotion into music, taking a stab at that lofty goal of immortality through song.
