OVSE-MOV-168xGlen Hansard & Marketa Irglova
'Once' is a 2006 Irish musical film written and directed by John Carney, former bassist for Irish band The Frames. Set in Dublin, this naturalistic drama stars musicians Glen Hansard (singer of, again, popular rock band The Frames) and MarkÉta Irglová as struggling musicians during an eventful week as they write, rehearse and record songs that reveal their unique love story. Collaborators prior to making the film, Hansard and Irglová composed and performed all of the original songs in the movie.
Hansard and Irglová's song 'Falling Slowly' received a 2008 Academy Award for Best Original Song and the soundtrack as a whole also received a Grammy nomination.
Steven Spielberg was quoted as saying A little movie called 'Once' gave me enough inspiration to last the rest of the year. When informed of Spielberg's comments, director John Carney told Sky News, in the end of the day, he's just a guy with a beardSide A:

Once Upon a Hell of a Time...Enigmatic singer-songwriter and Canada's own rock'n'roll son, Matt Mays returns with a brand new studio album, his sixth, Once Upon a Hell of a Time. Matt co-produced the record with collaborator Loel Campbell (Wintersleep). This new album follows up the award-winning Coyote, which landed Matt a 2014 JUNO Award for Rock Album of the Year.
Constantly on the move, Matt recorded Once Upon a Hell of a Time all over North America with sessions in California, British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and New York.
"The full album has a pretty strong theme or feeling and I wanted that to come across right away," says Matt. "This is party rock for the heartbroken. And you can't leave a party short of tunes, or better yet, you can't leave the sad and lonely folks with just one song to cry to. So, why just release one song when you can leak four?!"
After departing the seminal alt-country collective The Guthries back in 2002, Matt alternated between solo projects (his self-titled debut, the faux soundtrack When the Angels Make Contact) and band projects (the now legendary Matt Mays & El Torpedo record and 2008's Terminal Romance). Following the dissolution of Matt Mays & El Torpedo in 2009, Matt released Coyote in 2012.LP 1

Music Composed By Hans Zimmer
Brand New Movie, Directed By Christopher Nolan
Dunkirk is a 2017 English-language war film written, co-produced and directed by Christopher Nolan. The film stars Fionn Whitehead, Tom Hardy, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jack Lowden, Harry Styles, Aneurin Barnard and James D'Arcy. The movie focusses on the evacuation of Allied soldiers from Belgium, the British Empire, Canada, and France, who were cut off and surrounded by the German army from the beaches and harbor of Dunkirk, France, between May 26- June 04, 1940, during the Battle of France in World War II.
The score is composed by multiple award winner Hans Zimmer. On 5 April 2017, Zimmer revealed that he was nearly finished with the score and that it would be complete by the start of his Hans Zimmer Live on Tour shows in May.
For the purpose of intensity, the script was written to accommodate the auditory illusion of a Shepard tone, which had previously been explored in Nolan's 2006 film The Prestige. This was coupled with the sound of a ticking clock, that of Nolan's own pocket watch, which he recorded and sent to Zimmer to be synthesized.
The collaborative careers of Christopher Nolan and Hans Zimmer have proven to be a success in the last decade, with examples such as Interstellar, The Dark Knight, and Inception. This score turns out to be epic once again.LP 1

Music Composed by Steve Jablonsky (The Transformers Trilogy, Pain & Gain, Battleship)
In the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer
Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and the
International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Mazer. Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is
recruited to join the elite. Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult challenges and simulations, distinguishing
himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military's next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command

ADAD-SAC-9441xAtticus Ross, Leopold Ross and Bobby Krlic
Almost Holy: Original SoundtrackAfter the collapse of the Soviet Union, a number of Ukraine's youth wound up
homeless and addicted to a lethal cocktail of injected cold medicine and alcohol.
Steve Hoover's documentary Almost Holy follows a pastor named Gennadiy
Mokhnenko, who saves street kids, at times by forcible abduction, and brings
them to his Pilgrim Republic rehabilitation center.
The film's depiction of a
country in the grip of poverty, addiction, and warfare is made even more powerful
by its captivating electronic score by award-winning composer Atticus Ross,
his brother Leopold Ross, and Bobby Krlic (The Haxan Cloak).
"Occasionally a project comes along where one feels compelled to contribute,"
Atticus said of seeing the early footage that convinced him to work on the film.
"It's a different world over there - of course we have dire poverty in the U.S. - but
to see an army of drug-addicted children living in those conditions, children the
same age as my own, under ten years old but covered in track marks and sleeping
on sewers to stay warm, and someone is asking you to write a little music to help
the cause. It would be hard to find a reason not to."
His collaborators felt the same way, and the trio soon began work on the score
- the Ross brothers in the U.S. and Krlic in the U.K. The distance meant the composers
initially worked separately, but in the end, the soundtrack feels remarkably
The message and content of film kept the trio inspired, and once Krlic had
emigrated to the U.S., they met at Atticus' studio and continued to work on the
album as a free-standing piece. The film remained the anchor and the catalyst for
their creativity, but several of the tracks on the record don't appear in the picture
at all. Almost Holy is thus not simply a soundtrack album, but a soundtrack and
an album, one that both enriches its film and stands apart from it.1. One Block Further

Waxwork Records is thrilled to announce the debut soundtrack release of CREEPSHOW 2. The 1987 anthology horror film is a sequel to 1982's CREEPSHOW, which was directed by George A. Romero and written by Stephen King. The film is once again based upon stories by Stephen King, and features three horror-segments, Old Chief Woodenhead, The Raft, and The Hitchhiker, with an animated-horror wrap around story.
The score, co-composed and performed by Les Reed and Rick Wakeman, features a mix of both classic, orchestral compositions and electronic, synth cues. Waxwork's CREEPSHOW 2 deluxe, double LP soundtrack release marks the very first time that the music from the film has been released in any format. After a lengthy search of the original masters, Waxwork Records was able to work directly with composers Les Reed and Rick Wakeman to acquire the original source material and re-master for vinyl.
Waxwork's 2014 vinyl release of the original 1982 CREEPSHOW score by John Harrison has become a fan favorite amongst film music lovers, horror fans, and record collectors, thus being re-pressed and selling out almost immediately upon release on both occasions.
Packaging details include 2xLP 180 gram colored vinyl with variants correlating to stories within the film, old style tip-on gatefold jackets with a built in booklet featuring liner notes by composer Les Reed, and an LP package that is jam-packed with all new artwork by Ghoulish Gary Pullin!

You and the Night Soundtrack
"This score is really for lovers and ghosts." -Anthony Gonzalez
M83 is excited to announce their latest collaboration: the soundtrack to Yann Gonzalez's first feature film, You And The Night. Anthony warns that You And The Night is not a typical M83 release. "People who only like "Midnight City" are going to be disappointed. Mellow and romantic, this soundtrack pays tribute to French soundtracks from the 70s and is much more intimate than Hurry Up, We're Dreaming and the Oblivion Soundtrack. This score is really for lovers and ghosts."
Growing up together in Antibes, France, Anthony and his brother Yann were both inspired from an early age by European filmmakers such as Luis Bunuel, Alejandro Jodorowsky and Pier Paolo Pasolini. Similar themes underline each of their individual artistic expressions, via both film and music: an appreciation for the majesty of hope and an overall embrace of humanity. Describing his career up until now, Yann explains "if all of my films are put together they form a kind of ensemble, a sort of community. And that is precisely what You And The Night is about: an emotional community, the utopia of a community." For the Gonzalez brothers community and family allowed them to grow into their roles as filmmakers and musicians, so when the time came to chose someone to create a soundtrack for his first feature film it was obvious that Yann would look to work with his brother. "Music is an organic part of the films I make." "M83's compositions bring together the most diverse kinds of music that can only communicate in the end through the logic of emotion and the faith you place in them."
For Anthony You And The Night is a film about love, loss, new love and melancholia. He comments "The movie is very emotional and it's the movie of my brother, so it was a very important project for me. Yet as we share the same values, have the same artistic influences, it was also a very natural and uncomplicated process."
In creating this sultry and luminous soundtrack Anthony reunited with several of his previous collaborators. Joe Trapanese (Oblivion, Hurry Up, We're Dreaming) returned to assist with the orchestral arrangements, whilst long-term M83 collaborator Morgan Kibby (M83, White Sea) and Susanne Sundfør (Oblivion) performed vocals on several tracks on the album. Evolving from their time working together on Oblivion's title track, it seemed a natural step for Sundfør to become involved in the recording sessions for You And The Night. Susanne comments "It was very inspiring to see how Anthony works and how his perfectionism and high ambitions brought out the best in everyone around him. It's something I'm grateful to have been a part of, and I think the soundtrack ended up sounding beautiful and mystical, just like the movie."
Once again You And The Night highlights the musical richness of M83 and adds an impressive chapter to the growing repertoire of work that Gonzalez has produced since his initial, self-titled release. M83, in 2001, right through to the 2011 Grammy Nominated release Nominated Hurry Up, We're Dreaming, which included the platinum selling hit-single "Midnight City".

OST Of The Brand New 2016 Movie, Featuring Hailee Steinfeld & Woody Harrelson
Great Tracks By Santigold, Anderson Paak, Two Door Cinema Club, Aimee Mann, Miike Snow, Handsome Poets, Phantogram, Angus & Julia Stone, Birdy A.O.
The Edge of Seventeen is a new coming-of-age movie in the vein of Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club - an honest, candid, often hilarious look at what it's like to grow up as a young woman in today's modern world.
Everyone knows that growing up is hard, and life is no easier for high school junior Nadine (Hailee Steinfeld), who is already at peak awkwardness when her all-star older brother Darian starts dating her best friend Krista. All at once, Nadine feels more alone than ever, until the unexpected friendship of a thoughtful boy gives her a glimmer of hope that things just might not be so terrible after all.
The Edge of Seventeen marks the feature directorial debut of writer-director Kelly Fremon Craig, and is produced by Academy Award® winner James L. Brooks - the filmmaker behind big-screen, character-driven classics such as Terms of Endearment, Broadcast News, Big, Say Anything, The Simpsons, Jerry Maguire and As Good as It Gets.
The film is getting plenty of comparisons to the John Hughes' The Breakfast Club, but it's mostly modern soundtrack helps set it apart from those 80s classics: Santigold's new rollicking Who I Thought You Were, a standout off this year's 99¢, opens the movie and a pivotal party scene is filled with tracks by festival favorites like Two Door Cinema Club and Anderson .Paak.
Furthermore the soundtrack of the film features a hearty and exciting mix of talents as diverse as Aimee Mann, Phantogram, Birdy, Handsome Poets, Miike Snow and others.LP 1

Fire Walk With Me is an altogether more brooding affair than the Twin Peaks series soundtrack. Badalamenti won a grammy for the title track of this LP and it's not hard to see why- it's dangerous, and bursting with smokey jazz thanks to Jimmy Scott. We went back to the master tapes in the Warner Archives and had this recut to fit across two LPs as the score clocks in at 51 minutes. It sounds incredible and punchy, but super nuanced too.
From the brooding opening bars of the main Fire Walk With Me Theme, Angelo Badalamenti's gorgeous, eerie score introduces us to a cinematic experience which significantly begins with the smashing of a television screen. Just as the Main Title from Blue Velvet echoed the Hitchcockian hues of Bernard Herrmann, so here we have just the slightest touch of Taxi Driver, as Jim Hynes' plaintive, keening trumpet soars above a landscape of melancholy keyboards, drawing us into a world which is at once alien and familiar.LP 1

The Rocky Horror Picture Show Soundtrack
Back In Print On Red Vinyl
For the 1975 film version of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, American producer Lou Adler wisely mixed the best of the London and Los Angeles stage versions, shooting the movie in England with Tim Curry and several of the other original cast members, plus Meatloaf (years before Bat Out of Hell), and Americans Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon as the innocent couple Brad and Janet. Adler also brought back original London stage musicians in place of the slick studio musicians who had marred the L.A. cast album. The film version resequenced the songs and reassigned some of the vocals, with Brad's song Once in a While dropped. But it all worked out fine. The strings that were added to ballads like Science Fiction/Double Feature only improved them; the rockers rocked out; Bostwick and Sarandon proved to be the best Brad and Janet ever; the original cast members, especially Curry, reveled in the opportunity to immortalize their portrayals; and Rocky Horror's potential as a witty parody of cheap movies, rock & roll, and sexual mores was fully realized. The film soundtrack album became the definitive version of the score, despite lacking the songs Planet Shmanet Janet and The Sword of Damocles. The Rocky Horror Picture Show was not successful in its initial theatrical run, but then a strange thing happened. In 1976, the Waverly Theater in New York's Greenwich Village began showing the film at midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Soon, a cult of repeat viewers began turning up every week; they began to dress like the characters, call out their own comments at strategic moments, sing along, and add their own theatrical effects. The phenomenon spread across the U.S., with fans rivaling Trekkies and Deadheads for loyalty and eccentricity, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show took on a life Richard O'Brien never could have anticipated.

The Swell SeasonThe Swell Seasons self-titled debut record is finally available on LP for the first time. The band has went on to wider success through their work in the Academy Award winning film, Once and have since issued both a soundtrack and a second record on Anti Records. However, this was the quiet debut release that started it all, recorded shortly prior to the filming of the movie.
At the time Glen Hansard of The Frames had recently teamed up with classically trained Czech vocalist and pianist, Marketa Irglova to write a handful of affecting songs and compositions for their friend and filmmaker, John Carney. Some of these songs would go onto make the film, Once while others didnt. The two choose to issue this record on CD and digitally shortly after thinking it unlikely that there would ever be an actual soundtrack or distribution of the film they had just completed. Of course this could not have been further from what ultimately happened.
Listening back through The Swell Season in comparison to Frames records, the songs on Once or their recent record, Strict Joy one cant help but be struck by just how intimate the whole affair feels. Recorded in a small studio in the Czech Republic with a limited budget the two are joined only by two other string players giving the songs a sense of space and isolation. A feeling that works particularly well for this batch of songs and in particular a vinyl record.
The record stands on its own as a complete piece on par with some of the more personal musical statements of the last few years. The Swell Season was released prior to the Once soundtrack. When it came time to put the soundtrack together the band rerecorded four of the songs for the soundtrack. The other six songs are specific to this release and not available elsewhere.1. This Low

Whether busking the streets of Dublin, where he got his start, or headlining a gig, Hansard has garnered a reputation as an unparalleled frontman. Legion (Original Television Series Soundtrack)Lakeshore Records presents LEGION (Original Television Series Soundtrack) by Jeff Russo.
When I first started working on LEGION, the showrunner Noah Hawley gave me some great feedback regarding the tonal palate, he suggested I read neurologist Oliver Sacks Hallucinations, said Russo. It was a fascinating read and it really did help inspire. It is all about the way that our mind can change our perception of reality and what that says about our brains. It was something that directed me right to where this amazing show was going.
LEGION, based on the Marvel Comics by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz, is the story of David Haller (Dan Stevens) - a troubled young man who may be more than human. Diagnosed as schizophrenic as a child, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. Now in his early 30s and institutionalized once again, David loses himself in the rhythm of the structured regimen of life in the hospital: breakfast, lunch, dinner, therapy, medications, sleep. David spends the rest of his time in companionable silence alongside his chatterbox friend Lenny (Aubrey Plaza), a fellow patient whose life-long drug and alcohol addiction has done nothing to quell her boundless optimism that her luck is about to change. The pleasant numbness of David's routine is completely upended with the arrival of a beautiful and troubled new patient named Syd (Rachel Keller). Inexplicably drawn to one another, David and Syd share a startling encounter, after which he must confront the shocking possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees are the result of him being a mutant.
I used many esoteric synths from the 70s including something called a 'synthi,' described Russo of his approach to the score. That along with a traditional cinematic orchestral sound makes up most of the sound of the score. I also used a lot of bowing metals...springs, and different kinds of metal percussion.
EMMY® and Grammy®-nominated musician, Jeff Russo has become a prominent composer, songwriter and arranger in the film and television industry. Russo received two Emmy nominations for his memorable music on FX's Emmy and Golden Globe-winning series, Fargo. He is currently scoring the third season of the show, as well as Starz's hit drama Power. Russo's music was recently heard on HBO's hit Golden Globe-nominated miniseries The Night Of.1. Young David

Phantom Thread (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) (Pre-Order)Jonny Greenwood's score to Paul Thomas Anderson's new feature film, Phantom Thread, is releasing via Nonesuch Records.
Phantom Thread is set in the glamour of 1950s post-war London, where renowned dressmaker Reynolds Woodcock (Daniel Day-Lewis) and his sister Cyril (Lesley Manville) are at the center of British fashion, dressing royalty, movie stars, heiresses, socialites, debutants, and dames with the distinct style of The House of Woodcock. Women come and go through Woodcock's life, providing the confirmed bachelor with inspiration and companionship, until he comes across a young, strong-willed woman, Alma (Vicky Krieps), who soon becomes a fixture in his life as his muse and lover. Once controlled and planned, he finds his carefully tailored life disrupted by love.
With Phantom Thread, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson paints an illuminating portrait both of an artist on a creative journey and the women who keep his world running. Phantom Thread is Anderson's eighth movie, and his second collaboration with Daniel Day-Lewis. The film's soundtrack includes eighteen compositions by Greenwood. It was recorded in London with a sixty-member string orchestra conducted by Robert Ziegler and is featured more prominently in the film than any of Greenwood's scores have been before. The Phantom Thread score was nominated for Golden Globe and BAFTA awards and has received the Best Score prizes from film critics' associations in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle, and St. Louis.
The composer spoke to Variety about the process of creating a score that reflected the film's romance and glamour: We talked a lot about '50s music, what was popularly heard then as well as what was being written and recorded. Nelson Riddle and Glenn Gould's Bach recordings were the main references. I was interested in the kind of jazz records that toyed with incorporating big string sections; Ben Webster made some good ones. Greenwood continues, The smaller groups, and solo players, work like close-ups [and] not necessarily to accompany [a] visual, but rather, to focus your attention on and make you feel directly engaged with the characters. The bigger orchestral things often worked best for drawing you back to see the bigger situation.
Anderson and Greenwood's previous collaborations include the soundtrack for Academy Award-winning There Will Be Blood (2007), The Master (2012), and Inherent Vice (2014), all released by Nonesuch. Indiewire says of their collaboration: Paul Thomas Anderson fans are well accustomed to how instrumental Jonny Greenwood's music is to the auteur's body of work. Whether it's the foreboding strings in There Will Be Blood or the discordant percussion in The Master, Greenwood's original scores expertly capture Anderson's tones. This fact is especially true in Phantom Thread, which marks the fourth collaboration between Anderson and Greenwood.
Widely known as the guitarist for Radiohead, Jonny Greenwood is also a highly respected composer. In addition to the Anderson film soundtracks, Nonesuch also released his score for Norwegian Wood, his collaboration with Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki, and his performance of Steve Reich's Electric Counterpoint. Most recently, the label released Junun-a collaboration between Greenwood, composer/musician Shye Ben Tzur, and a group of Indian musicians called the Rajasthan Express that was recorded in the fifteenth-century Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, India. Paul Thomas Anderson came along to document the sessions. The resulting impressionistic film, also entitled Junun, debuted at the New York Film Festival, before screening at several other international festivals.1. Phantom Thread I

Feeling The SpaceIf you've listened to Feeling the Space, Yoko Ono's personal-is-political 1973 album, it should come as no surprise that the once-reviled artist is inspiring a new generation of activists in 2017.On such songs as the righteous chant "Woman Power," the empathetic ballad "Angry Young Woman," the hilarious proto-grrrl "Potbelly Rocker," and the satirical "Men Men Men," Yoko sings in surprisingly straightforward fashion about the burdens carried by women and the mandate for feminism. Supported by such skilled studio vets as guitarist David Spinozza, sax player Michael Brecker, and drummer Jim Keltner, this is perhaps Yoko's most accessible album, and her most intimate.
Feeling the Space was recorded during the time when the avant-garde visionary artist became estranged from her rock-star husband John Lennon. He plays only briefly on the album (billed as Johnny O'cean); she produced and wrote all the songs. The result is a definitive soundtrack/document of the era of consciousness raising and of radical critique of the family structure. Yoko and company deliver this hard message soft rock style, or as soft as Yoko could get. Yoko was on the front lines of the women's liberation movement. Dedicated "to the sisters who died in pain and sorrow and those who are now in prisons and in mental hospitals for being unable to survive in the male society," it's an emotional exploration of the psychological toll of oppression.1. Watch DogsFollowing on from the phenomenal success of their RSD release of FAR CRY 3: BLOOD DRAGON's, Invada partner with Ubisoft Music and dive once again into the world of video game soundtracks with the release of Brian Reitzell's musical score to the highly-anticipated WATCH_DOGS. Full of infectious beats and atmospheric, retro-futuristic synths, the score is a further achievement from Reitzell, who has previously written music for drama series HANNIBAL as well as working on multiple scores with director Sofia Coppola. To represent the varied challenges of the game, Reitzell brings an eclectic feel to the score, with thumping beats and off-kilter melodies of the club scene juxtaposed with the more ethereal and atmospheric synth and guitar, evoking the music of Vangelis and Brian Eno - ideal for a post-noir cyberpunk game.1.
