Meetle MiceThe music contained on these albums I wrote while in college (and a few while in high school) when I was just discovering computer music. I wrote them for fun, never planning on doing anything with them at the time or expecting them to be heard outside of my circle of friends. When I was asked to play a show on campus I thought it might be a good idea to burn some CD-Rs and try to sell them at the show.
Going through my files, I found the pieces that I liked the most, grouped them into two different collections and gave them the most appropriate/absurd titles I could think of. Many of the song titles are absurd or toy with the idea of what is offensive and what is not, many of them created as a commentary on the super politically correct atmosphere that was Purchase College in the early 2000s.
The organization of the songs was somewhat thought out but mostly chaotic: make sure the granular synth pieces are far from each other; keep the songs with beats spread out; sound collages placed amongst sine wave drone pieces. They were more like compilations of my experiments than albums of compositions.
I made only 8 CD-R copies of each in photocopied sleeves with contact paper on the discs. I sold all but 1 of each for $7 or two for $10. Explosions were going off in my head, dollar signs appearing in my eyes. Making $70 from selling CD-Rs was blowing my mind. I started selling them at every show, even though the music contained on them didnt represent what I ever performed live, since the music on Meetle Mice and Silly Hat was never meant to be performed live (except for the acoustic ensemble pieces).
The CD-Rs and artwork are riddled with mistakes. Theres digital clipping on many of the tracks; Silly Hat vs. Egale Hat was meant to be Silly Hat vs. Eagle Hat; copy write should have been copyright, etc., but I thought the typos were funny and kept it with each batch of the CD-Rs. Since I was only selling them on campus or a few shows in NYC it didnt really matter. I hated stuff that took itself too seriously so keeping my spelling mistakes glaring was important to me. And considering the music was made in a vacuum with no intention of it ever seeing the light of day, it made sense to keep all the errors in their original state (true of this reissue as well (the artwork was scanned from the original run of 8)).
I was a very different musician back then trying to figure out how to interact with sound, what could be done with it, where it could go, learning music software for the first time, and discovering many more genres of experimental music than what I was exposed to in my youth on Long Island. It was an exciting time! Since then my aesthetic has shifted, my absurdist mindset subdued and Ive been exposed to a global audience. At times I feel like these albums are skeletons in my musical closet, knowing how easily parts of them could be taken out of context by a media that loves to take things out of context. But these records were made without knowledge of that media world. Theres an innocent ignorance to them that none of my other records will ever be able to have, an ignorance lost to experience.
These albums are like seeds. They sound, look and feel very different from the fruit that theyve grown but they are still of the same tree. I hope you enjoy listening to them as much as I enjoyed making them. - Dan Deacon1. BJI Aii Hmhp #14

I Like My Mice (Dead)/Spiderbite7'' vinyl single with picture sleeve
The mysterious goth milquetoast 'Mildred' appeared before Jack White at a hardware store in Kentucky. She had no demo to give, nor guitar with her, so instead she sang her song 'I Like My Mice (Dead)' at the top of her lungs in front of several hardware store customers before quickly walking out of the store in shy earnest. Mr. White immediately followed her to the sidewalk and signed her to a Third Man single contract.
She hails from the Mammoth Cave area, but hasnt given the staff an age, or current address! (...dont worry well be holding her royalty checks here for her.)
In fact her mother dropped her off at Third Man studio for the single session and waited patiently in a Winnebago outside the studio until Mildred was done recording. Mildred showed up with a very cool Gretsch Princess guitar but called it a 'Gitch'. Her band The Mice were even less forthcoming than she was, asking only for a copy of the record when it was done. Luckily, we were able to snap a few shots of them at the Third Man headquarters before they headed back to Kentucky.
The two songs available now are nothing short of remarkable, and were recorded live to 8 track in one take.
Jack White has given this recording the special Third Man catalog number of #003 stating; 'this is exactly the kind of record we want to put out.'Side One1. I Like My Mice (Dead)Side Two1. Spiderbite$6.99Vinyl LP 7'' Single - Sealed Buy Now

Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award Winner for "Best Live Band"
To tide everyone over until their new album hits Of Mice & Men have delivered their first live album "Live at
Brixton". Of Mice & Men have always been able to capture the raw emotion and energy from their live performances
and pour that into their studio albums, there's still something undeniably special about actually seeing
the band live. Live at Brixton catches Of Mice & Men playing a sold-out headline show at the legendary O2
Academy Brixton in London. The live album includes 15 songs that are all fan
favorites from the band's entire catalog. The entire performance was also captured by 12 cameras, ensuring that
every special moment was included.
Of Mice & Men have sold over 500,000 albums to date, and have played sold out tours around the globe with
artists like Linkin Park, Bring Me The Horizon and Rise Against. The band's previous full length, Restoring
Force debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200, selling over 50,000 copies in its first week, and has gone on to
sell over 200,000 copies in the US alone.
There's a reason why Of Mice & Men won the Golden Gods award for Best Live Band in 2015. They play every

Restoring ForceAfter massive amounts of hype and anticipation, Of Mice & Men blew all expectations out of the water with their
early 2010 self-titled debut, selling over 75,000 copies to date. They didn't skip a beat with their follow up album
- The Flood, selling over 15,000 units in its rst week and another 9k in the rst week of the deluxe reissue
version. The Flood has currently scanned over 130,000 units. They've spent the majority of the last few years
supporting large artists such as A Day To Remember, August Burns Red, Bring Me The Horizon, As I Lay
Dying and more. They've also headlined Warped Tour as well as sold out tours in the US, UK & Australia.
Mice & Men went in the studio with producer David Bendeth (Paramore, Breaking Benjamin, Bring Me The
Horizon) to record their 3rd full length, RESTORING FORCE. The album does exactly that, it restores the band
as a massive force in the scene that they've thrived in for the past years, but beyond that it showcases the band's
growth as both songwriters and performers. Frontman Austin Carlile returns and gives his most brutal and
honest performance to date while clean singer, Aaron Pauley, who is making his Of Mice & Men debut, truly
shines and will become a star in his own right. The band will hit the road immediately after the release, spending
the entire spring on the road with Bring Me The Horizon and Issues as well as performing as a headliner on
Warped Tour, etc. In making "Restoring Force" the band has created an album that will please the large
hard-rock, mosh-happy fan base that they've accrued over the years, while also allowing them to continue
growing and appealing to a wider and wider audience.1. Public Service Announcement

I Love YouLia Mice is the experimental pop project of Eleanor C Mice (nÉe Logan). After spending her teens touring Australia in punk and soul groups she lurked the Brooklyn noise scene for half a decade. In late 2012 at the end of a European tour in support of her debut solo album (originally released under the moniker Happy New Year) she became stranded in France when her return flight to Brooklyn was cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy. Waiting for her replacement flight, she passed the time in Lyon penning songs in a friend's living room. Within a week she had decided to relocate to France for good. The songs became the genesis of 'I Love You', out October 7 on Old Flame Records - LiaMice's second solo album, and first experiment in danceable tempos, inspired by new music uncovered during in her first year living in France: in the grooves of yÉ-yÉ singles; on the dancefloors of converted boat-venues; in the theme songs of classic French cinema and on the iPods of neighborhood house parties.1. There's A Riot Goin' OnRanked 99/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Since it took almost two years to make, the fifth album by now bonafide superstars Sly & the Family Stone had everyone salivating in anticipation. Needless to say, Sly did not disappoint! 1971's There's A Riot Goin' On finds the Bay Area-based genius getting funkier than before, even as his artistic vision becomes darker. Some may have been disappointed that Sly didn't simply re-create the chart successes of earlier singles, but who can argue with the flat-out brilliance of turning recent big hit Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin) on its head to create the mind-boggling Thank You For Talkin' To Me Africa? SUNNYLAND is the Mayday Parade's 6th studio album and first with Rise Records.
The Tallahassee, Florida-based quintet (rounded out by bassist/vocalist Jeremy Lenzo, guitarist Brooks Betts and drummer/vocalist Jake Bundrick) recorded this follow-up to 2015's Black Lines with longtime producers Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount, and for the first time, also teamed with Grammy-nominated producer John Feldmann (blink-182, Panic! At the Disco) and Howard Benson (Of Mice & Men, My Chemical Romance). The result is an album built on impassioned vocals, sing-along choruses, and deeply heartfelt lyrics.
The album's title comes from an abandoned hospital where the band members hung out as teenagers. "The hospital shut down sometime in the mid-'80s but then it just stayed there for decades," says Sanders. Wayfaring Strangers: Lonesome HeroesThe standard route for popular music, songwriter to publisher to label to artist, survived the '60s only to be overrun by a generation of folkies agog at giants strumming in the rearview. They were inspired by iconoclasts from Charley Patton to Woody Guthrie, artists entirely reliant on one guitar, one voice, and ones own words. But our heroes were not the agrarian luddites of yesterfolk. They cheered when Dylan plugged in and were rapt when Lennon and McCartney modernized songcraft, making the studio process justas important to song creation as setting the chords and words down.
The resultant work wasnt as readily reduced to words on paper as the Broadside pages that preceded them, success relied heavily on the way these songs were captured and transmitted: the sound of the room, the turn of a phrase, the odd way a piano got miced, or the way a guitar fell perfectly out of tune. As long as the end result was somber, dark, and meditative, it didnt matter if it was a conscious choice or a happily unhappy accident.
Each of our lonesome heroes began his journey from a wildly divergent place. Some of the stops may been similar, but each was made in different ways at different times for different reasons. All these travelers somehow found their ultimate destination on this disc. From artists who never played one professional gig to those that never stopped playing professionally, whose only shared experience is a journey set upon with no known end, sharing their thoughts, emotions and dreams with a lonely few along the way.
Wayfaring Stranger: Lonesome Heroes is the male singer/songwriter companion to Numero 008, Wayfaring Strangers: Ladies From The Canyon and Numero 018, Wayfaring Strangers: Guitar Soli.
Features 17 rare tracks by folk unknowns Jim Schoenfeld, Jim Ransom, Richard Smyrnios, Tucker Zimmermann, Kieran White, Les Moore, Rob Carr, Jack Hardy, George Cromarty, Jay Bolotin, Tony Trosley, Roger Lewis, Tim Ward, David Kaufmann, John Villemonte, Bob Brown and Robb Kunkel.

Verdugo HillsFive years ago, Caroline Lufkin made ripples across the Japanese pop music scene when she famously walked away from a lucrative major label contract that virtually guaranteed the same kind of bright-light super-stardom that made her sister Olivia a household name in Tokyo. Instead, Caroline took the long way; a slow, creatively fulfilling path where she writes, performs and records her own songs and owns her every success or failure, while taking pride in both.
Verdugo Hills builds upon the same minimalist, angelic pop that made her debut album, Murmurs, so striking. Having spent the past several years as a full-time member of the small musical army that is Mice Parade, Caroline has mastered the art of mingling a dozen or more distinct sounds to form miniature symphonies for the soul that can turn from an icy chill to a warm glow in the span of a few breaths. Her lyrical delivery and subject matter have matured enormously, exposing new depths to her emotional range to accompany the deceptively subdued mix of acoustic and electronic instrumentation.
Ultimately Verdugo Hills succeeds emphatically in giving electronic music a comforting heartbeat and a contemplative soul, feats Caroline were unlikely to accomplish had she taken the straight road to overnight fame and fortune. She has become an intriguing and understated figure in the world of electronic pop music, accelerating the genre with startling, unexpected beauty while leaving lasting impressions on all of us who are along for the ride.1. Inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame in 1999 & Ranked #99 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time!
More than four decades after they first stormed the Pop and R&B charts in the winter of 1968 with "Dance To the Music" - a groundbreaking jam that has the distinction of being chosen for the Grammy Hall Of Fame, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame's 500 Songs That Shaped Rock, and Rolling Stone magazine's 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time - the music of Sly and the Family Stone is more vital than ever.
The band's catalog (every single composition penned by Sylvester Stewart aka Sly Stone) includes their three career-defining RIAA gold Billboard #1 Pop/ #1 R&B smashes, "Everyday People," "Thank You (Falletinme Be Mice Elf Again)" and "Family Affair," and their signature Top 40 hits that began with "Dance To the Music" and went on to include "Stand!," "Hot Fun In the Summertime," "Runnin' Away," "If You Want Me To Stay," "Time For Livin', and more.
Those songs not only inspired an era of youthful rebellion and independence, but also had a potent effect on the course of modern music in general. A dazzling fusion of psychedelic rock, soul, gospel, jazz, and Latin flavors, Sly's music brought the next step - funk - to a disparate populace of hip artists. From Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock, to the halls of Motown and George Clinton's P-Funk, from Michael Jackson and Curtis Mayfield, down the line to Bob Marley, the Isley Brothers, Prince, Public Enemy, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arrested Development, the Black Eyed Peas, the Roots, OutKast and on and on, Sly's DNA is traceable to every cell of the musical stratosphere.
Since it took almost two years to make, the fifth album by bonafide superstars Sly and the Family Stone had everyone salivating in anticipation. Needless to say, Sly did not disappoint! 1971's There's A Riot Goin' On finds the Bay Area-based genius getting funkier than ever before, even as his artistic vision becomes progressively darker. Some may have been disappointed that Sly didn't simply re-create the chart successes of earlier singles, but who can argue with the flat-out brilliance of turning recent big hit Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin) on its head to create the mind-boggling Thank You For Talkin' To Me Africa.
Two of this hypnotic album's best tunes Family Affair and Runnin' Away were gigantic chart hits, and There's A Riot Goin' On hit #1 Pop/ #1 R&B within a few weeks of its release in November, proving beyond any shadow of a doubt that Sly Stone could totally deliver the goods! A transformative masterpiece, There's A Riot Goin' On was inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame in 1999, and is ranked #99 on Rolling Stone magazine's '500 Greatest Albums Of All Time.'Luv N' Haight
