1962 Set from Duke Ellington and His Orchestra Contains New Material and Fresh Interpretations of Classics

Spectacular Audiophile Restoration Series Resurrects UK Label Black Lion: Mastered at Bernie Grundman Studios by Chris Bellman and Pressed at Pallas

EQ Notes and Curation Performed by Iconic Engineer Steve Hoffman; LPs EQ'd and Set Up by Bernie Grundman

Conceived, Designed, and Manufactured for Collectors and Enthusiasts: Vinyl Jacket Features Exclusive Art

Age never slowed Duke Ellington. Recorded at four different sessions in 1962 at Bell Studio in 1962, The Feeling of Jazz is one of the rarest titles America's greatest composer ever released, and contains both never-before-heard originals as well as reinterpretations of Ellington classics. Performed by the Duke Ellington Orchestra, which included players such as Paul Gonsalves, Johnny Hodges, Harold Baker, and Jimmy Hamilton, the material contains a wealth of spot-on solos and stop-on-a-dime changes.

Originally released by the UK label Black Lion, an imprint that specialized in resurrecting rare gems from US jazz and blues legends, The Feeling of Jazz represents a critical juncture in Ellington's career and a can't-miss opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts to get closer to the man and his music. Helmed by ORG, this historical reissue is afforded the ultimate in audiophile production standards, resulting in sonics and presentation befitting the museum-like worth of this record's existence.

Mastered from the original master tapes at Bernie Grundman Studios by Chris Bellman and pressed at Pallas, the 180g LP was curated by legendary engineer Steve Hoffman and eq'd by Grundman himself. A better team you cannot find; every step involved serious quality-control measures to guarantee gorgeous sound. The superb vinyl jacket features exclusive artwork. This is what being a collector is all about. The title isn't widely known, but this reissue preserves historically significant music that will be enjoyed by generations to come.

Jazz fans, audiophiles, and music fanatics, don't sleep on this extraordinary treasure.

    What's New?

    180 Gram Reissue

One of the most underrated albums in Sonny Rollins' extensive catalog, What's New? is his second recording for the RCA Victor label, featuring performances with Jim Hall, Bob Cranshaw, Ben Riley, Dennis Charles, Frank Charles, Willie Rodriguez and Candido. Many of these songs find Rollins utilizing the Latin rhythms of Candido and, on the calypso Brownskin Girl, a vocal chorus interacts with the group. Mastered from original analog tapes by Grammy Award winner Bernie Grundman and pressed on 180gram audiophile-grade vinyl at Pallas in Germany, this reissue shines a new light on Rollins' 1962 masterpiece.

Pressed On 180-Gram Audiophile-Grade LPs At Pallas Group In Germany

Mastered From Original Analog Tapes By Bernie Grundman Mastering Studios

Recorded At Electric Lady Studios In New York City On February 2 & 3, 1978

Flugelhornist Art Farmer and guitarist Jim Hall had a regular group for a time in the mid-'60s but (except for one occasion) had not played together since, until this 1978 LP. This is an unusual effort for CTI in that it is a quintet set without added horns, strings or keyboards. Farmer and Hall are joined by vibraphonist Mike Mainieri, bassist Michael Moore and drummer Steve Gadd for two standards, the title cut and a jazz adaptation of a piece by Ravel. Since Farmer and Hall have long had very complementary styles (both being
lyrical, harmonically advanced and thoughtful in their improvisations), it is little surprise that this set is a complete success.

Now this classic recording gets ORG Music's audiophile treatment with this 180-gram vinyl reissue, mastered from original analog tapes by Bernie Grundman and pressed at Pallas Group in Germany.

Louis Armstrong and his All-Stars are captured in rare form during these live recordings from 1956 and 1957, which are finally making their vinyl debut with this 180 gram Pallas pressing. The album features a great collection of tunes which had become staples of Armstrong's live shows, including his perennial opener, "Indiana"; the crowd favorite, "Tiger Rag"; the always joyful, "When The Saints Go Marching In"; and the great title-track, "Basin Street Blues". Satch's frontline band at the time boasted the very distinctive sounds of

    Getz Au Go-Go

Mastered by Bernie Grundman from the Original Analog Master Tapes! Only 2500 Numbered Limited Edition Copies Worldwide!

It was one of those rare nights of absolute communication - the New York City opening of the New Stan Getz Quartet.

Stan had chosen the Cafe Au Go Go for this occasion because of its fine acoustics and its intimacy. Atmosphere was paramount to the first New York presentation of the New Stan Getz Quartet and Astrud Gilberto because of the soft, easy quality of their music. Astrud had already won acclaim for her work with Getz in the album Getz/Gilberto (V/V 6-8548), which also stars Astrud's husband Joao Gilberto as well, and this threesome's single from the album The Girl From Ipanema was rapidly rising on the best-selling charts.

This, is the stunning New Stan Getz Quartet with Astrud Gilberto at Cafe Au Go Go. Reflected here are the excitement, warmth and communication of that memorable engagement." -Gene Lees, from the liner notes of Getz Au Go Go

Although the name Stan Getz (tenor sax) was initially synonymous with the West Coast cool scene during the mid-to-late 1950s, he likewise became a key component in the Bossa Nova craze of the early 1960s... Getz Au Go Go featuring Astrud Gilberto (1964) was the second-to-last album that he would issue during his self-proclaimed Bossa Nova Era- the final being Getz/Gilberto #2 [live] (1964) concert title from Carnegie Hall. ... the focus of Getz Au Go Go steers away from the Brazilian flavored fare, bringing Astrud Gilberto into the realm of a decidedly more North American style. That said, there are a few Antonio Carlos Jobim compositions - Corcovado (Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars); and One Note Samba - both of which would be considered as jazz standards in years to follow - as well as the lesser-circulated Eu E Voco.- All Music Guide

    The Bridge (Awaiting Repress)

180 Gram LP Mastered from the Original Master Tapes

This 1962 Record Marks Rollins' Return After Taking a Voluntary Break to Refine His Playing

How badly did Sonny Rollins want to refine his playing? The saxophonist shocked the world in 1959 and took a break, returning in 1962 with this splendiferous set, named after the Williamsburg Bridge, where he practiced by himself. He's paired here with guitarist Jim Hall, whose communicative lines, along with Rollins' esteemed solos and melancholy patterns, gives The Bridge lofty status. The quartet tackles both originals and standards such as Billie Holiday's God Bless the Child and Cole Porter's You Do Something to Me, turning up aces every time.

Mastered from the original master tapes, ORG Music's 180 gram LP presents this Bluebird/RCA classic in the finest analog sound it's ever known. Everything from each of Rollins' dip-and-dive patterns to the patter of Ben Riley's drums is heard with extreme detail and range.

    Grammy Award Winning Cover Art

This release has long been considered Thelonious
Monk's acknowledgement to the flourishing youth-oriented subculture from whence the collection takes
its name. Certainly the Grammy-winning cover - which
depicts Monk as a World War II French revolutionary
toting an automatic weapon - gave the establishment
more than the brilliant swinging sounds in the grooves
to consider. Underground became Monk's penultimate

    Ole Coltrane

Mastered From The Original Master Tapes By Bernie Grundman

    Pressed At Pallas In Germany

Packaged In Old-school Case-wrapped Gatefold Jacket

John Coltrane's final album for Atlantic bookends the exploratory motifs he explores on his Impulse! debut, Africa/Brass, recorded concurrently, with each involving knotty rhythmic shifts and Spanish-derived textures. Bonding with an amazing band that includes pianist McCoy Tyner, drummer Elvin Jones, and an uncredited Eric Dolphy (due to contractual reasons), Coltrane welcomes improvisations and ranging outside conventional parameters, all the while retaining melodic beauty.

Yet the biggest attraction on the 1961 effort comes via the double-bass interplay between Art Davis and Reggie Workman, whose back-and-forth exchanges produce heat and cause the leader to up his own game.

Mastered from the original master tapes, this dead-quiet 180g 45RPM 2LP set presents each pluck of the acoustic basses with tremendous body and decay. Long overdue for audiophile treatment, OlÉ Coltrane is ready for its closeup, and how.

Altoist Paul Desmond and baritonist Gerry Mulligan

distinctive light tones, strong wits, and the ability to

masterful reed players are featured in pianoless quartets

Recorded during the same three-day period as My Favorite Things in the fall of 1960, Coltrane's Sound is one of the most highly underrated entries in Coltrane's voluminous catalog. The title could not have been more accurate, as each of the six pieces bear the unmistakable and indelible stamp of Coltrane's early-'60s style. Animating the arrangements on these sessions were Coltrane (soprano/tenor sax), Steve Davis (bass), Elvin Jones(drums), and McCoy Tyner (piano). Chet is Back!

Mastered from the Original Tapes and Stunning Audiophile-Grade Sonics: You Will Not Hear a Better Pressing!

Chet is back! And how. In a career filled with ups and downs, Chet Baker sounds divine on this 1962 set of bop-driven tunes and elegant standards cut in Italy after the trumpeter's two-year hiatus from recording. Reason for its superiority owes to a sextet anchored by burgeoning, young European musicians such as saxophonist Bobby Jaspar, pianist Amedeo Tommasi, guitarist Rene Thomas, and bassist Benoit Quersin.

Compositionally, ballads (including These Foolish Things and the only new composition, Ballata In Forma Di Blues) are tucked in between a surfeit of engaging, uptempo pieces. Yet the most staggering revelation here, aside from the fact that, no exaggeration, Chet Is Back! might contain the cool musician's most gorgeous playing, is the version of Over the Rainbow, given a reading that encapsulates the classic songs longing, hope, and beauty. Noteworthy, too, are Jaspar's statement-making performances.

Now, an even 50 years after its original release, Chet Is Back! benefits from the audiophile-quality sound it's always deserved courtesy of ORG Music and being mastered from the original master tapes. Few, if any, audiophile pressings of Baker's music match the tones and timbres present on this astoundingly transparent reissue. It's what jazz is all about.

Features a Double Quartet: One Band in Each Stereo Channel with Two Simultaneously Playing Rhythm Sections

Features Don Cherry, Scott LaFaro, Eric Dolphy, Charlie Haden, Freddie Hubbard Among Other Musicians

Modern improvisational jazz starts here. With one quartet placed in the left stereo channel and another situated in the right, Free Jazz unloads with two simultaneously playing rhythm sections and a 37-minute-plus title cut devised entirely on the spot.

Distinctive from the copycat attempts that followed, this 1960 magnum opus claims melody and harmony, solidifying Ornette Coleman's reputation as a compositional genius. Of course, the presence of Don Cherry, Scott LaFaro, Billy Higgins in the left channel and Coleman, Freddie Hubbard, Charlie Haden, and Ed Blackwell in the right doesn't hurt.

Mastered from the original master tapes, ORG Music's analog edition has turned this classic into an audiophile spectacular. Due to the presentation of the recording in two distinct stereo channels, this album supremely benefits from the label's mastering efforts and decision to expand the music into wider grooves. Prepare for a mind-blowing experience.

Charles Mingus called this late-period 1972 set "the best album I have ever made." Even in the context of the giant's other masterpieces, it's hard to argue with that statement. Let My Children Hear Music is that kind of great.

A large-ensemble effort featuring enterprising arrangements, the record surrounds the bassist/composer with a tremendous orchestra and swirling, glorious structures bejeweled with volleying horns, elaborate solos, and introspective moodiness. The most valuable buried treasure in Mingus' distinguished catalog? Hear the songs for yourself, and decide. ORG Music, however, has made it much easier to arrive at an answer.

Why? The sound on this 180 gram 45RPM 2LP pressing, mastered from the original analog master tapes by Bernie Grundman, practically invites you into the studio. Given proper room, dimensions, and imaging, the instruments and the music they combine to produce, further exposes Mingus' genius and reminds us all once again why sonic transparency equates to emotional realism and soulful revelation. What a record.

    The Man I Love

Mastered From Original Analog Tapes By Bernie Grundman

Pressed On Audiophile-Grade Vinyl At Pallas Group In Germany

Recorded At Club Montmarte In Copenhagen, 1967

Johnny Griffin had a reputation as the "world's fastest tenor." At
this intense live date captured at Club Montmarte in Copenhagen
in 1967, the saxophonist lives up to such a billing and more,
attacking five compositions with dynamite energy and blinding
speed. In addition, Griffin displays the warm and sensitive side
he developed later in his career on a touching rendition of Duke
Ellington's "Sophisticated Lady." Throughout, he's aided by
a resolutely controlled and superbly dynamic rhythm section
comprised of bassist Niels Pederson and drummer Albert "Tootie"
Heath, who, with pianist Kenny Drew, match Griffin's red-hot
bravado. This is a hard-bop set no one will want to be without.

Originally released by the UK label Black Lion, an imprint that
specialized in resurrecting rare gems from US jazz and blues
legends, The Man I Love is on par with Griffin's finest studio
outings for Blue Note and a can't-miss opportunity for collectors
and enthusiasts to get closer to the man and his music.
Orchestrated by ORG Music, this historical reissue is afforded the
ultimate in audiophile production standards, resulting in sonics
and presentation befitting the museum-like worth of this record's
    existence.

    Hyphenated-Man

Hyphenated-man is the name of my third opera, Contemplating The Engine Room (1997) being the first one and The Secondman's Middle Stand (2004) being the second. Whereas Engine Room dealt with my pop's life in the navy as a metaphor for the story of the minutemen and Middle Stand was a parallel to Dante's comedia dealing with an illness that almost killed me in 2000, this third opera is quite different in that it has no standard narrative (libretto!) meaning no regular beginning-middle-end and is as it were simultaneous in the way a mirror from just inside my head, right in this middle-age moment of mine, was then shattered into thirty pieces and then each piece stuffed in the head to show a piece of my state of mind (or out-of-mind) as of now. Thirty tunes? Yes, they're little ones, actually they're thirty parts of one big tune.

It was kind of trippy how this piece was actually made. I wrote all thirty parts on one of D. Boon's telecasters, the black one he got in Kent, Ohio in 1984. Now I'm not a very good guitarist but Tom Watson was quite the righteous man in his patience and determination to take the palsy demos I gave him and bring them to the piece. - Mike Watt

    Inhibition

The music of Los Angeles based band Dot Hacker is architectural, built on a foundation of bold, manipulated tones and supported by lush eclectic textures and angular rhythm. The band's enigmatic sound comes from the collaboration of friends and founding members, Josh Klinghoffer, Clint Walsh, Eric Gardner and Jonathan Hischke. Before forming Dot Hacker in 2008, the four were already established musicians--Klinghoffer, the band's lead vocalist, also currently plays guitar in The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The rare opportunity to hear Milt Jackson step out
from behind his familiar vibraphones to play piano,
and partner Ray Charles, in addition to manning the
88s, blow on the alto saxophone for two numbers,
shouldn't be missed. Particularly on this LP, which
portrays the 1957 collaboration within a huge, naturally
vibrant soundstage. Mastered from the original master
tapes and press on 180 gram vinyl, this edition lays
bare the relaxed, bluesy, often-boppish jazz on display
from these two giants. With stellar support, the two
headliners treat this affair as a backroom woodshedding
    session.

    Everlasting EP

Despite some personal problems and a general sense of chaos surrounding the band, Refused successfully managed to put together this seven-song EP of classic Swedish hardcore in 1994. Originally released in Europe on Startrec Records, Everlasting eventually hit stores in America on the Equal Vision imprint in 1997. More metallic than earlier releases, this disc has a progressive hardcore sound that bested the band's full-length debut, This Just Might Be the Truth. If the music changed a little, the group's staunch left-wing political outspokenness remained intact as just about every track rails against all things Western, especially cold corporate might and cultural imperialism. Standout tracks like Burn It and The Real stand up to the best American hardcore with their punchy riffs and highly charged, yet intelligent vocals. While much more raw than Refused's most recognized and accomplished effort, 1998's The Shape of Punk to Come, Everlasting is perhaps the group's second-best offering, demonstrating their significant mid-career development.
