Out Of The Cage'
SONM-RCA-1915xCage The Elephant
Unpeeled (Awaiting Repress)GRAMMY® Award winners, Cage The Elephant will release UNPEELED worldwide via RCA Records. The new album was recorded over a series of intimate shows in cities including Los Angeles, Washington DC, Knoxville, and Nashville where the band performed in a stripped down arrangement with a string quartet and additional percussion. UNPEELED features twenty-one tracks: eighteen curated songs from their past four albums plus three reimagined versions of existing songs. Said frontman Matt Shultz about the inspiration behind the album: Many times you're adding sonic layers looking for something to hide behind, and what you don't realize is that that vulnerability and that nakedness might be the most compelling and interesting thing about the song.
Cage The Elephant consists of singer Matt Shultz, guitarist Brad Shultz, drummer Jared Champion, bassist Daniel Tichenor, lead guitarist Nick Bockrath and Matthan Minster on keyboard and backing vocals. Long celebrated as one of the most explosive live bands in the world, Cage The Elephant have sold out several headlining runs including a summer 2016 arena tour and recent sold out UK and European tour. If you were going to envision the ultimate avant-garde meeting-of-the-minds jam session, who would you pick? Even the most hopeful fan of strange and innovative music couldn't have seen this one coming: on one afternoon in 1986, at Coney Island's dilapidated freak show, space-age avant-jazz genius Sun Ra met avant-garde serious music composer John Cage in an unforgettable performance.
You couldn't imagine two figures more opposite. Cage was known for his unusual approach to composition, using objects such as radios and television sets, as well as pure silence, as instruments, often encouraging his musicians to do other things at their whim on stage. Sun Ra, on the other hand, was a jazz arranger known for his space-age approach to jazz, adding free-jazz and surrealist elements into a musical form that Cage often disdained -- improvisational music. And yet, for one afternoon, they pooled their talents -- Ra playing keyboards, leading his small group and reading his unusual poetry; Cage performing vocal readings and passages of vocal sound -- plus his trademark silence -- designed to baffle and disorient. The combination is breathtaking, both organic and mechanical, free-form and totally composed.
For the very first time, Modern Harmonic presents the full and unexpurgated concert from 1986, stretched out across two LPs. In addition to never-before-heard songs and musical passages, this album at last presents the long-rumored co-performance between the two musical giants, all lovingly packaged in new artwork that captures the stark brilliance of the music. Take yourself back to 1986 and a once-in-a-lifetime performance that you can finally hear as it was intended.LP 1

MelophobiaCage The Elephant's highly anticipated forthcoming third studio album, entitled 'Melophobia', is released via RCA Records. The album was recorded in Nashville, TN and reunites the band with producer Jay Joyce who produced the group's prior two releases.
This album has tested us as individuals and as a collective. We're five people fighting for our own ideologies of good music - we clash stylistically and sometimes even personally, said drummer Jared Champion. The studio is the place where we push all of those individual creative emotions together and smash them to the dispersion point until they explode like a Timebomb. With the explosion arrives something beautiful and in the end, when you listen back and goose bumps prick your skin like the first few drops of a summer rainfall on searing concrete, you know that you and your band of brothers have created something substantial. Conquering our melophobia is what drives us.
The new album is the follow up to 2011's acclaimed sophomore album Thank You Happy Birthday, which debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart and has sold over 250,000 copies to date. Rolling Stone, New York Times, LA Times, USA Today, and Entertainment Weekly praised the release as one of the best rock albums of the year. The album also spawned the hit single Shake Me Down which spent six weeks at #1 at Alternative radio. Their acclaimed self-titled debut album was released in 2009 and has sold over 550,000 copies to date. The album remained on the Billboard 200 Chart for an astounding 73 consecutive weeks and produced three Top 5 singles at Alternative Radio, including the massive hit Ain't No Rest For The Wicked. In additional to numerous Sold Out headline runs, Cage The Elephant has toured with Black Keys, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Muse, Stone Temple Pilots, Foals, Silversun Pickups, Manchester Orchestra, and many more.

I'm Glad I'm Not MeCritically acclaimed indie rockers Born Cages will release their debut studio album, I'm Glad I'm Not Me, via Washington Square/Razor & Tie.
I'm Glad I'm Not Me was recorded at Mission Sound (Metric, Arctic Monkeys, Matt & Kim) in Brooklyn, NY and was produced by Jon Kaplan (Cage The Elephant, Walk The Moon) and co-produced by Born Cages' lead singer Vlad Holiday. On the album, Holiday, bassist/keyboardist Matt Maroulakos and drummer Dave Tantao conjure festival-ready, truly modernist modern rock that is every bit as grand as its song titles would predict: "Bigger Than Me." "I Just Want The Truth, Baby." "Don't Look Back." "Finding Beauty in a Broken World."
I'm Glad I'm Not Me touches on rock, electronic, dance, alternative and everything in between, reaching listeners thought to be quarantined from each other. It's a record celebrating togetherness in fractious times, music that finds commonalities rather than chasms. Throughout, Born Cages play with an urgency that posits their music as something essential. I'm Glad I'm Not Me embraces its punchy hooks, economic arranging and distinct kind of New York City disillusionment; it's the despondency of being told your mere existence in the city is a sign of having "made it" and still feeling alone amongst the millions.
The album is the follow up to their critically acclaimed 2013 EP release, The Sidelines EP. Vice Noisey describes the band's music as a "blend of 80s-influenced synth/guitar work and modern pop-rock sounds," and Blackbook raved, "More than a decade after the riff-heavy heyday of The Strokes, The Vines, The White Stripes, The Hives, and many other bands that put the word "the" before a plural noun, we may be ready for another bout of ripping revivalism Born Cages, certainly makes that argument." The Born Cages Daytrotter Session made the Top 50 of 2014 list.
Lead singer and guitarist Vlad Holiday formed Born Cages in 2011 and the group dove head-first into New York City's eclectic indie rock movement. He is joined by Matt Maroulakos on bass/keyboards and Dave Tantao on drums. The band has shared bills with a bevy of acts such as Hockey, Magic Man, X Ambassadors, Gold Fields, Royal Teeth, Said The Whale, Donald Cumming (of The Virgins), Public Access TV, JD Samson (of Le Tigre) and Har Mar Superstar. They were even handpicked by Guns N' Roses to be the sole support band on two sold out GN'R club shows.1. Rolling Down The Hill

CascadesCascades is the music collaboration between two Montreal-based musicians, neo-classical pianist Jean-Michel Blais, and genre-defying Grammy Award-nominated electronic producer Mike Silver (aka CFCF). Building off their sold out performance during the globally celebrated Red Bull Music Academy, Cascades is a stunning 5-song, 30-minute meeting-of-minds that navigates spaces between the artists' respective crafts and tendencies toward playful minimalism. Featuring reworkings from the duo's catalogues, an interpretation of John Cage's "In A Landscape", and a new original, "Hypocrite", Cascades is a celebration of the traditional and experimental, dissolving the old into the new.1. Blowin' Your MindImport
Blowin' Your Mind, the first album by Van Morrison, is generally regarded as the warming up round to Astral Weeks (1968), a critically acclaimed masterpiece by this Northern Irish blues singer. But Blowin' Your Mind really is a masterpiece in its own right, containing truly epic tracks such as the megahit Brown Eyed Girl, the somewhat funky Goodbye Baby (Baby Goodbye) and Midnight Special, a traditional with a contemporary groove and infectious bass line.
T.B. Sheets, one of the most real songs about death you'll ever hear, is a 10-minute organ packed blues jam about a dying girlfriend and one of the sweatiest and claustrophobic tunes to come out of the sixties. The latter song has been used to good effect as the sole soundtrack song to the highly recommended Nicholas Cage & Patricia Arquette movie Bringing Out The Dead (1999), and was also covered by John Lee Hooker.1. Ghettoville is the bleached out and black tinted conclusion of the Actress image.
Where the demands of writing caught the artist slumped and reclined, devoid of any soul, acutely aware of the simulated prism that required breakout.
Four albums in and the notes and compositions no longer contain decipherable language.
The scripts now carry tears, the world has returned to a flattened state, and out through that window, the birds look back into the cage they once inhabited.
Spitting flames behind a white wall of silence.
The machines have turned to stone, data reads like an obituary to its user.

The Adventures Of Panama Red (Awaiting Repress)Purple Colored Vinyl
1000 Only Limited Edition
f there was ever any doubt that the New Riders of the Purple Sage were the ultimate hippie country rock band-and having had Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh and Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead as early members meant that there wasn't much-The Adventures of Panama Red put them to rest. This 1973 album's loosely connected tall tales of drug culture, complete with the album's underground comic book graphics, ensured that this gatefold record was a long-time dorm room favorite for separating out those stems and seeds. But Panama Red (their only gold record) had a lot more going for it than just countercultural kicks-the band, by now consisting of John Dawson, David Nelson, Dave Torbert, pedal steel ace Buddy Cage and Jefferson Airplane drummer Spencer Dryden-was much tighter than any outfit this stoned had a right to be, and with songwriting contributions from Peter Rowan (the hit "Panama Red" and "Lonesome L.A. Cowboy") and Robert Hunter ("Kick in the Head") as well as from the band's own fine tunesmiths in Dawson and Torbert, the songs were of a uniformly high quality. Production by multi-instrumentalist Norbert Putnam, charts by the Memphis Horns and vocal contributions by Buffy Sainte-Marie and Donna Godchaux helped enshrine this record as one of the finest country-rock outings of the '70s. Now, Real Gone Music is reissuing this classic album for the first time on vinyl, remastered by Vic Anesini at Battery Studios in NYC and lacquer cut by Kevin Gray, with a limited edition pressing of 1000 in-what else?-purple vinyl, with the original gatefold album and inner sleeve graphics (with lyrics) intact. Under The PinesSo complex and substance-affected was their evolution, Bardo Pond have been creating their dreamy riffs for 26 years alongside a myriad of side projects. Returning with a career defining album, 'Under The Pines' sees them delve into the subconscious with their transcending cosmic post-rock. Over 41 minutes The Pond's fermentation, their languid throb and textured groove (flute, violin, Isobel Sollenberger's haunting vocals) sounds like cathartic dream pop wrapped in a delicately constructed barbwire shroud. "Playing fuzzed out stuff of stoner dreams since the mid '90s," (thanks Pitchfork) and beyond the mentions of free jazz, the avant garde, Sun Ra and The Book Of The Dead, Bardo Pond's remarkable career and exemplary output has seen them gain fans from all corners of the pond.
In 2010 Lou Reed and his wife Laurie Anderson invited them to perform at the Vivid festival they curated at the Sydney Opera House, not forgetting they were recently handpicked to support Jesus & Mary Chain at London's Roundhouse as part of Mogwai's 20th Anniversary and Stewart Lee chose them for the All Tomorrow's Parties festival which he curated just last year. Hailed for their space rock, drone, shoegaze, noise and/or psychedelia, and in a super lengthy interview in Ptolemaic Terrascope enthused (back in 2001) that they were somewhere between John Cage's silence on 4'33 and Japanese noisenik Merzbow's total ear splitting cacophony. Anxiety's KissFounded by Louisville musician Ryan Patterson and including Kayhan Vaziri and Carter Wilson, power trio Coliseum have grown to become one of today's quintessential contemporary punk bands. Successfully melding progressive musicianship, hardcore fervor, and vital social awareness into one constantly evolving artistic vision.
Over the last decade Coliseum have released music on a host of labels including; Temporary Residence, Relapse, Level Plane, Auxiliary (Ryan's own label), and Deathwish.
"Anxiety's Kiss" is the new album from Coliseum, recorded at The Magpie Cage by producer/engineer J. Robbins (Jawbox, Burning Airlines). "Anxiety's Kiss" is a hook-laden maturation of the Coliseum sound. Nods to their early D-Beat leanings are there, but it is their willingness to embrace Post-Punk melody and explore the space between notes that make "Anxiety's Kiss" so alluring. Confidently growing within the punk world, without ever leaving it behind.
"We Are The Water" kicks things off with a synth-driven stomp while lyrically serving as a poignant social awakening and call for human empathy. Amidst a tangle and twang of melody, "Course Correction" and "Wrong/Goodbye" then emerge to tackle the ripe subjects of class division and police brutality. "Drums & Amplifiers" picks up pace, taking on those who reflect on their punk past rather than absorb the spirit that still charges the air around us. It's not all social and subcultural commentary though. The dizzying "Dark Light Of Seduction" and sultry "Sharp Fangs, Pale Flesh" (where J. Robbins guests performing the BulBul Tarang) are darkly provocative narratives about the power of lust and love. In soul and tone, they both interject an emotional underbelly to it all. Robbins also adds bass on "Comedown", an industrial-tinged romp led by Vaziri's baritone guitar and Wilson's booming toms. Coincidentally, it is also the first Coliseum song ever recorded to not feature Patterson on guitar. "Sunlight in a Snowstorm" is the band at their most melodic, with a snow-covered New York City as its lyrical backdrop. The high beam lit, cinematic noir of "Driver at Dusk" and infectious, fuzzed-out "Escape Yr Skull" lastly descend to close out the album. A flawless, yin and yang pairing that is Coliseum at the peak of their experimental and anthemic powers.1. We Are The Water

I'm Not The DevilCody Jinks was raised on country music but he cut his teeth on metal. "Metallica was king. They set the tone for me and I spent a good part of my youth wanting to be James Hetfield." After a dedicated stint as a frontman in a thrash metal band, Jinks willingly found himself back to where it all began. "My dad loved the outlaw country icons, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard. That never ending consistency of incredible music growing up laid some very deep seeds. I'm mean, come on nothing better than mentally diving into 'The Hag' and metal when it comes time for me to write songs."
Always avoiding trends and ferociously choosing his direction was the only option from day one, even though that very path could have prevented success. "What is success if you can't wake up everyday being who you really are. In the end, that will catch up with you." Jinks has been tested countless times by his career choices. The better part of the last 15 years have included numerous empty bar rooms and a never ending financial loss. "Yeah, I've been pretty good at losing money. Not the greatest feeling in the world to be gone from home for long stretches of time, only to walk in the door broke. Luckily I've got a damn good woman in my life. She has stood by me with unmeasurable strength to say the least and it is an absolute fact that I seriously overplayed my hand when landing her."
His long, dark beard and endless array of tattoos are no fad. They unquestionably define Cody Jinks. His prototypical metal/hard rock band frontman look is not a well orchestrated image, but again, define Cody Jinks. Diving into to his album, I'm Not the Devil is the perpetual truth of who he is and where he has found himself at this point in his career. "I'm just glad that I ended up where I am now," Jinks said. "It makes complete sense that I'm at this place in my life. Country music found me when I was young and chased me down as I grew older"
Jinks' latest project is his deepest, darkest and most provocative album to date, with a metal common denominator, the apocalypse, running throughout the record. "It's a pretty scary time," Jinks said. "There are some evil people running things in the world. It hits me since I have a six and three-year old."
There's not a weightier song than the aptly titled "Heavy Load." It's the most apocalyptic song on the album but the dense cut, with a pretty violin break, is a gorgeous tune. The vocal hook grabs ears when Jinks croons "Train Jumps Tracks Some Time Ago/You Can't Root That Heavy Load." "That was the last song I wrote on the record," Jinks said. "I couldn't be happier how that one turned out."
"All You Can" features a pretty piano line and sobering wordplay. When Jinks belts out 'What Are You Living For," you can't help but think about the serious question posed in what is becoming an increasingly shallow existence. "I was really tired when I wrote that song," Jinks said. "We had been on the road for awhile. The bottom line is that if you're not helping people, you're not doing your job as a human being. It's time to quit feeling sorry for yourself and do something."
One of Jinks' favorite songs on the album is "The Way I Am," a cover of a Merle Haggard classic. "I love that song," Jinks says. "I wrapped it up just before Merle died. The song always resonated with me. I relate to that one since there are times I would rather be out fishing."
"No Words" is a stunner of a gritty, autobiographical love song, which is a throwback to how songs used to be written. It is a tuneful gem, inspired by reality. Jinks starts out dark as night. "My Whole View of the World has Changed/ I Guess that Comes with Age/I Don't Believe there is Good in Every Man Like I Did Back Then/I May Drink More Than I Should/You've Seen Me on the Floor/I Spent my Lifetime in this Cage I Built Around Me." But the song is actually a tip of the hat to his beloved wife of 19 years. "There Aint' No Words/ To Say How Much I Need You/With You Here/ You Make This Life I Lead Worth Living." "It's about my wife," Jinks says. "But the funny thing is that she doesn't like it. She thinks it sounds too sad."
With the title track "I'm Not the Devil," Jinks wakes us all up to the realities of mistakes and the heartfelt desire to be forgiven. "We are all guilty of mistakes and very guilty of pointing out the mistakes of others. Forgiveness feels so much better or so I think."
It's impressive how Jinks is getting his message across. Jinks utilizes space well in his songs. Notes aren't crammed in. Jinks lets his songs breathe. "After all I've experienced, I think I've matured," Jinks says. "I think you can hear it in the music. I've grown up."
Even though he still looks the part of the headbanger he was back in the day, he has moved on. "It's all for the best, Jinks says. "I'm where I was meant to be."
It's all about the music and the fans, who are the fuel that drives Jinks. "They come out night after night giving up hard earned money and precious time to see me play," Jinks says. " It's truly is amazing when you really think about it. The best way I can say thanks is by giving back with effort and gratitude."1. The Same

Dylans Masterpiece Break-Up Album: Sentimental Redemption Arises Amidst Sorrow, Turmoil, Sadness, and Pain
Presence, Immediacy, Naturalness, Realism in Spades: Mobile Fidelity Reissue Makes Blood on the Tracks Among Most Lifelike-Sounding Albums You'll Ever Hear

The Freewheelin Bob Dylan, Another Side of Bob Dylan, Bringing It All Back Home, Blonde on Blonde, and The Basement Tapes Also Available from Mobile Fidelity
Bob Dylan was at several crossroads in the mid-1970s. Artistically, he was largely written off as being past his prime. Emotionally, he was suffering through a painful divorce from his then-wife Sara Lowndes. Creatively, he appeared at a stalemate, his previous decades unprecedented run of transformational brilliance finished. Then came Blood on the Tracks.
A start-to-finish cycle that documents a lovers pursuit of, entanglement with, and loss of a woman, the bracingly intimate 1975 effort remains one of the most encompassing break-up albums ever made and ranks as the most personal statement of the Bards career. To hear it is to experience the agony, frustration, trauma, highs, lows, confusion, sadness, and, ultimately, requisite redemption associated with intimate relationships gone astray. Dylan maintains its a work of fiction, but its evident close-vested autobiographical premise is what helps make it universal: Its the icon singing through tears, going out of his mind, battling hallowing emptiness, firing shots across the bow, and accepting culpability. It is, in short, a consummate expression of loves darker sides and the consequences of what happens when dreams unravel.
As part of its Bob Dylan catalog restoration series, Mobile Fidelity is thoroughly humbled to have the privilege of mastering the iconic LP from the original master tapes and pressing it on dead-quiet LPs at RTI. The end result is the very finest, most transparent analog edition of Blood on the Tracks ever producedand the first-ever proper analog reissue. Fantastically presenting both the solo acoustic and band-supported songs with the utmost clarity, dynamics, presence, immediacy, spaciousness, imaging, and balance, this version shines a high-powered light on the fluid vocal phrasing, timbral shifts, functional rhythms, and inward-looking strumming that contribute to every song here serving as a wound-exposing confessional.
For all the melancholic pain, unresolved questions, shattered memories, wasted times, unrequited dialogs, and weary regret within, Blood on the Tracks remains as daring as it is reflective. Rather than follow for a monotone caustic vibe, Dylans songs burrow into the subconscious for the manners in which they are even-keeled, mellow, and occasionally, even peaceful. Dignity, honor, poignancy, and fairnessall traits uncommon in any situation in which partners dissolve histories, change hearts, and attribute blameinstill the record with equilibrium on par with the consistency of the flowing melodies.
Throughout, tunes come on and proceed as if they could continue forever, Dylan spinning poetic verses and conversations amidst finely tied knots of acoustic notes, chords, and fills, the deceivingly simple architecture conjuring the intertwined refractions of a bezeled jewel, various angles, colors, and textures conjoining into a gorgeously inseparable whole. Backed by Tony Browns flexible albeit subtle bass, Buddy Cages country-streaked pedal-steel guitar, and Paul Griffins soul-baring organan instrument used to shadow, tuckpoint, and illuminate here as effectively as any time in rock historyDylan pours soulful emotion, open his veins, and bleeds.
Ranked 16 on Rolling Stones list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, and replete with existential thought, piercing directness, raw singing, and majestic arrangements,
Given the sonic and artistic merit of this album, we anticipate huge demand.

Kinky Boots - Original Broadway Cast RecordingInspired by a true story and based on the Miramax motion picture written by Geoff Deane and Tim Firth, Kinky Boots, features a warm and witty book by four-time Tony® Award winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage, Torch Song Trilogy, Hairspray, Newsies) and a richly diverse musical score from Grammy® Award-winning rock icon Cyndi Lauper, in her stunning theatrical debut. The production is directed and choreographed by Tony® Award-winner Jerry Mitchell (Hairspray, La Cage, Broadway Bares).
In Kinky Boots, Charlie Price (Tony® Award nominee Stark Sands - American Idiot, Journey's End) has suddenly inherited his father's shoe factory, which is on the verge of bankruptcy. Trying to live up to his father's legacy and save his family business, Charlie finds inspiration in the form of Lola (Billy Porter Dreamgirls, Grease). A fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos, Lola turns out to be the one person who can help Charlie become the man he's meant to be. As they work to turn the factory around, this unlikely pair finds that they have more in common than they ever dreamed possible... and discovers that when you change your mind about someone, you can change your whole world.

Angels & DevilsIt's after the end of the world, don't you know that yet...
With recent reports from various think tanks predicting we have somewhere in the range of 15 years left before the collapse of society begins, it would seem like Kevin Martin's sonic predictions of dystopian London that were set out on 2008's London Zoo were pretty accurate. And if we are in fact declining rapidly to chaos, there's no better time then the present to take the focus of that sonic assault from earthly domains and blast it to the netherworlds above and below.
The aforementioned London Zoo is where Kevin Martin, found his true voice. Pulling the fringes into a collective, unilaterally hateful assault. A psychological warfare driven by bass that on one hand captured a moment of London, yet also encapsulated a global message influenced by years of timeless and classic out-music.
The latest offering from the The Bug, Angels & Devils, escapes the London cage, drawing on it for influence yet blowing it up into a world-view now seen from Kevin Martin's new Berlin home. A record that simultaneously draws on London Zoo, completes a triptych cycle which started with his Bug debut Pressure, and fills the spaces between and inserts what was missing previously. Both a year zero re-set and a continuation of what has been. Like the Bowie/Eno classic Low, or Can's Tago Mago, the album is split into two distinct themes and explorations of light & dark. Bringing the angel & devil voices together under a single common banner. Antagonist at times, but not solely for the sake of being antagonistic, there's a beauty and lush sparseness to be found within, even when at its most chaotic. Truly only The Bug could find the common ground between Liz Harris (of Grouper) & Death Grips and make it seamless. Angels & Devils stretches the polarity of its predecessor in both directions simultaneously and is even more extreme for its new found seductiveness and added intensity. Deep space is explored, and physical assault is administered. In these days of YouTube quick fixes, and single tune memory spans, its a joy to witness Martin actually charting a cohesive narrative that rejoices in celebrating life through sonic sex and violence, beauty and ugliness. This is an audio thriller that delights in pursuing its own singular path/vision.
With the Angel side(s) up first, things kick off with Liz Harris (of Grouper) in the submerged lushness that is Void. Followed by contributions from ex Hype Wiliams half copeland (Fall), the blissed out patois of touring partner Miss Red (Mi Lost), two truly zoned Bug instrumentals, and rounded out by Gonjasufi on Save Me. It's a collection of heady, dubbed out cinematic blissfulness with a lurking darkness before giving way to devils...
Devils leads off with the return of long time collaborator Flowdan on the mic and the guitar of Justin Broadrick (Godflesh / Jesu) bringing a complete about face to the proceedings and setting the tone with The One. Roll Deep's Manga steps up next with the instant Bug classic Function, which is being currently smashed on dubplate, by Mala, Kahn and Logan Sama. Death Grips raise the antagonistic bar with Fuck A Bitch. Flowdan & Justin Broadrick come back for the cinematic death crawl of Fat Mac. Warrior Queen steps in for hands down the nastiest vocal she's ever delivered (which is saying a lot) for Fuck You, and finally Flowdan steps up again to round it all off with a Devils battle cry of sorts dirty, fuck that murky....
The concept is completed by the artistic expression it's packaged in, courtesy of Simon Fowler (Cataract). Known for his work for Sunn O))), Earth, and others, Simon has delivered a stunning hand drawn illustration, that sort that would make Bosch proud, showing the duality of the proceedings.

Live At Hammersmith (Awaiting Repress)
England's most distinctive, multiple award-winning, platinum-selling, hugely entertaining rock gods The Darkness have announced the release of their live album The Darkness - Live At Hammersmith, set for release via Cooking Vinyl.
The album captures The Darkness on sterling form at their iconic London headline show at the Eventim Hammersmith Apollo in December last year. In true Darkness spandex-clad fashion it featured huge riffs, mighty bass faces, seismic drumming, hair-raising falsetto, Justin Hawkins acrobatics, gigantic disco balls and a whole lotta pyro.
The Darkness - Live At Hammersmith spans their spectacular back catalog of five albums across 19 incendiary tracks.
Regarding the live album Justin says, "The Darkness is untamed. It cannot be caged. Some very clever recording engineers have discovered a way to capture its essence; all that remains is for us to release it back into the wild.
"Life is about experiences, not possessions. This is your opportunity to possess the experience of The Darkness Live, as perceived by your ears, leaving your eyes free to scan the road ahead for obstacles, or to watch Emmerdale with the sound off, or to mould clay, or to darn socks, or to look at the beautiful artwork in this magnificent gatefold. Release yourself into The Darkness - Live at Hammersmith."
The Darkness headlined Hammersmith as part of their extensive Tour De Prance, in support of their latest critically acclaimed Top 10 album Pinewood Smile. The tour saw the band sell out shows across the UK and Europe last year. They are currently on a mammoth 27-date tour of the US, Canada and Mexico.1. Open Fire

Fresh Blood For Tired VampyresEternal life can seem like an eternity. Ask any vampire. The continuous march of sun ups, sun downs, transformations of form, seductions, cape fittings & exsanguinations. Eventually it all just becomes an endless, tired routine. It all seems so exciting & so sexy to those of us who operate knowing we have limited time. But ask any vampire about the downside of eternal life, & you won't be surprised to hear tales of binge eating garlic bread just to feel the hurt, or of the occasional dangling of a wooden stake just over the center of the rib cage.
Electric Six knows all about eternal life. Electric Six has been around forever & it can never die. That's lovely, but it's also very tiring. Fresh Blood For Tired Vampyres is the new release by Electric Six on Metropolis Records. One listen & you will immediately understand that the sexiest vampires are urban vampires. Where E6 has dabbled in dance, hip-hop & R&B in the past, Fresh Blood is the whole enchilada. It's thirteen songs designed to make the listener interested in smooth & nasty fuckin', the way they do it in the city. From the Grandmaster Flash-inspired Number Of The Beast to the super smooth tour of the NYC outer boroughs Mood Is Improving, the listener finds himself immediately deposited into an urban drop zone with hustlas & dickblockas coming from behind every corner.
The radio-ready pop hits I'll Be In Touch & Dance With Dark Forces are the tracks that get the listener off the street & into the club. & it would not be an Electric Six album without an epic closer, that being the beautiful & haunting Spacewalkin', the ballad that assures the listener that the vampire has now fed & will live a thousand more years, albeit in outer space. Electric Six changes more frequently than change itself, but ultimately this just means they're never gonna put out the same album twice. Fresh Blood for Tired Vampires is poppy & smooth, nasty & raw...& oh so life affirming, especially if you are undead.1. Acid Reducer

I Can Spin A RainbowI CAN SPIN A RAINBOW is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream for Amanda Palmer, an avowed fan of Edward Ka-Spel and the Legendary Pink Dots since discovering their psycho-theatrical, multi-textural work in her teens. As noted in her best-selling 2014 memoir, The Art of Asking, the LPD have long been an inspiration to Palmer, their deeply connected relationship with fans as important to her life and work as their fearless autonomy and impossible-to-pigeonhole musical approach.
The two musicians first met in 1992 when Palmer, then 16, attended a Legendary Pink Dots show in her hometown of Boston. In 1995, having found that the Pink Dots were looking for lodging with fans to save money on the road, Palmer hosted five members of the band and crew at her childhood home. Ten years later, Palmer's internationally acclaimed punk cabaret duo, The Dresden Dolls, had achieved enough success that they were able to invite the Dots to support them on a German tour, and it was then that Palmer and Ka-Spel vowed to carve out time to collaborate on an original recording. A decade passed and in July 2015 a very pregnant Palmer flew to London to start the long-discussed project but was informed on the first day of recording that her dear friend Anthony was losing his battle with cancer and had been given less than a week to live. Heartbroken, she assured Ka-Spel she would be back within the year. Indeed Palmer made good on her promise, returning in the spring of 2016 with her eight-month-old son, Anthony, in tow.
Palmer and Ka-Spel's search for a London recording studio was interrupted by an incredibly generous offer from Palmer's friend Imogen Heap, who suggested they make use of her Essex home recording studio, The Hideaway, conveniently located near Ka-Spel's own home in Hornchurch. With Palmer traveling between London, Hornchurch, and Heap's home studio, the pair spent just under a month composing and cutting an album entirely from scratch.
Recorded largely on Ka-Spel's computer, I CAN SPIN A RAINBOW is a truly collaborative effort, "a spiritual experience," says Palmer, in which both artists' stories, song fragments, poems, and lyrics became wholly meshed with loops, melancholy piano playing, melodic beds, and strange rhythms. The results range from the enchantingly minimal "The Clock at the Back of the Cage" and the album-opening "Pulp Fiction," mysterious and strange with a luxurious theatricality that conjures both of its creators' prior oeuvres while also opening a curtain into a heretofore unheard shared sonic world. Sensing the need for strings, the pair enlisted frequent LPD collaborator Patrick Q Wright, who contributed violin tracks from his studio in Italy. Alexis Michallek, Heap's longtime studio assistant, contributes singing saw to "Beyond The Beach."
"We merged our songwriting heads and poetic worlds to make a new universe," Palmer says. "We would sit in Imogen's house drinking cups of tea, bemoaning the state of the upcoming election, binge drinking in the UK, the refugee crisis, our internet addictions, frightening news we had read, our relationships and then we'd compost all of the ingredients of our fears and conversations into song form. The Rainbow metaphor - which is also a nod to the 'spinning beach ball of death' on a Mac - was a wide-open image that kept popping up as a recurring theme on the record. It's both dark and light at the same time. To me, the songs are simultaneously frightening and comforting, like a thunderstorm heard from a living room."
"Making this record with Amanda felt a little like discovering a twin you didn't know you had," says Ka-Spel, "until a mysterious email lands in your inbox at a particularly auspicious moment. Some things are just meant to be "1. Pulp Fiction

Bear CreekBear Creek is the newest release from singer/songwriter/guitarist Brandi Carlile who has been hailed as "the best voice in indie rock" by Paste Magazine. The lead track "That Wasn't Me," is a soulful piano-based song that showcases the warmth and subtle power of Carlile's vocals. It is the cornerstone of an earthy collection that embraces all of her musical influences: folk, pop, country, rock, gospel and blues. The album was named after the studio where most of the album was recorded, Bear Creek Studios, a converted early 20th century barn near Carlile's hometown of Seattle, WA.
The 13-song set features contributions from her longtime band mates: Tim and Phil Hanseroth ("The Twins," who co-wrote many of the songs with Carlile and play guitar and bass respectively), drummer/percussionist Allison Miller and cellist Josh Neumann plus Dave Palmer on keyboards and Jeb Bows on violin and mandolin. Drummer Matt Chamberlain guests on several tracks. Grammy winning engineer/producer/mixer Trina Shoemaker (Sheryl Crow, Emmylou Harris, Queens of the Stone Age) and Brandi and The Twins produced the Bear Creek Studios sessions. Frank Liddell (Miranda Lambert, Lee Ann Womack) and Jay Joyce (Cage the Elephant, Emmylou Harris) produced three tracks at Tragedy/Tragedy Studios in Nashville, TN.
Bear Creek follows Carlile's 2011 live album, Live at Benaroya Hall with the Seattle Symphony, which the Seattle Times called "breathtaking." It was recorded during the band's sold-out two-night stand at the prestigious venue in November of 2010. To date, Carlile has sold over 800,000 albums and has played over 700 live shows.LP1

It's Not The Eat, It's The HumidityThe Alternative Tentacles Reissues of Necessity is back! We've hooked another live one from the swirling depths of the most obscure, desirable, and just plain deranged.
Like many early punk pioneers The Eat operated in a near-total vacuum, in that infamous cesspool of clueless retirees and moronic sun worshippers known as South Florida. Forming in 1978 and playing their first show in July of 1979, it took another year before they were able to record. Their classic 7s were rare and sought after from the moment they came out, distribution was nil, most were given away at shows and crushed on the spot, some even wound up lining a parrot cage. The result is that their 7-inches Communist Radio and God Punishes the Eat are some of the most sought after and obscenely expensive Killed By Death items ever!
Sure the limited/mangled pressings helped, but the band's twisted angle on the world has a lot to do with the value placed on their early vinyl. Specifically: political concerns like Communist Radio, Nut Cops, Kneecappin' and Nixon's Binoculars. Environmental awareness like Manatee Smacker, M-80 Ant Death, and Living Like a Pig, as well as numerous celebrations of that seedy Florida lifestyle like Catholic Love, Silly Drug Songs, Money for the Police and Psychotic McHale's Navy.
The Eat reappeared sporadically clear through the mid-'90s, yet still seem unaware how wide their cult and notoriety has spread, especially among people who've never actually heard them. There's a lot of information packed into this package to help those latter folks out, in full color!
Both early 7s are here, the audio dropouts in the five God Punishes songs fixed up at last, followed by the entire Scattered Wahoo Action cassette album and all the unreleased songs from their aborted Hialeah album that was chopped down to their third and final seven inch. Sound is top-floor melodic punk 'n' roll - sort of a sped-up Real Kids with rock-bottom Angry Samoans-style lyrics. Disc One's a whopping 30+ studio tracks, many never before released.LP1

Artificial DanceThe story of electronic music pioneer K. Leimer continues with a focus on his auteurist studio project Savant. Compiling the standalone album, 1983's The Neo Realist (At Risk), with Savant's debut 12" and a grip of compilation and unreleased tracks, Artificial Dance documents Leimer's complete collaborative venture into the unpredictable realities of music, exploring the gulf between what is expected by its creators and what is eventually - and eternally - committed to tape. Savant was designed by Leimer to tap into entropic truths, asserting an uncaged counterpart to the loop-based minimalism he produced in isolation (recently surveyed on RVNG Intl.'s A Period of Review (1975-1983)). Aligning himself with the Cage-ean principles of chance operations and musical contingency, Savant was a band sans jam. Allegorically, a blindfolded collaboration whose happenstance source music Leimer would sample, loop and sculpt at will. Leimer was creatively autonomous to the point of being a persona absentia in Seattle's 80s rock scene. Unconcerned by social status, Leimer enlisted musicians from experimental and post-punk groups in the area to come record as Savant at his home studio, Tactical. Among them were ambient composer Marc Barreca, John Foster (founder of Op Magazine - the experimental music publication), Jim and David Keller of the New Flamingos, and their bandmate Alex Petit. Others, like Roy Finch and Dennis Rea, came from a similar orbit. Even with these musicians at his beck and call, Leimer implemented a disarming musical strategy. Savant would have no fixed line up and often musicians would be asked to play instruments far outside their fortÉ. Leimer would however give loose rhythmic direction for the musicians to develop spontaneously against click-tracks. When the performance locked in with Leimer listening at the controls, he'd capture it to tape. These moments became the soul of Savant and the combustive elements that would variegate its timbres. Savant tonally operates in a space between This Heat's dark primitivism and the found sound collage of Brian Eno & David Byrne's My Life in the Bush of Ghosts. These analogies are simply stylistic, as the narrative behind The Neo-Realist's production makes clear Leimer was concocting via more alchemic means, avoiding genre aspirations by looking for accidental moments of musical intrigue and discovery. Leimer explains this process in the collection's liner notes: "I was looking for flaws, for faults to act as the stand-out features of the music." Far from a provisional stab at avant-garde sensibilities, Savant represents Leimer's repudiation of ambient music's passive side. Artificial Dance embodies a perfectionist's family portrait of outrÉ musicians conforming to Leimer's nonconformist musical ethos. Fitting for its name, Leimer created conditions for asocial brilliance with Savant, materializing an outward offering from an inward studio and a collaboration of audacious invention.1. Using Words
