Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die!

"Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die!" is the fourth studio album by the American rock band Panic! at the Disco.

Panic! At The Disco is a platinum-selling, Grammy-nominated duo from Las Vegas, NV. Formed in 2004, Panic! quickly began writing their debut album, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, released on Fueled By Ramen in September, 2005. The album, featuring singles such as I Write Sins Not Tragedies and The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide is Press Coverage was a smash, selling over 1.7 million copies to date. In July 2006, the album was officially certified Platinum. Coming off of their first worldwide tour, the band had established themselves as mainstays in the hearts of fans everywhere.

In 2007 the band began writing their sophomore release, Pretty. Odd. They decided to make the album they wanted to make. While the album is equally as catchy and infectious as their debut, Pretty. Odd. saw the band digging through their parents' record crates to craft and expansive pop album that channeled the ghosts of Brian Wilson and the Beatles as well as lesser-known pop sensations like the Zombies. After creative differences saw the band split from four to two members in mid-2009, it was time to start rebuilding.

    Death Of A Bachelor

Produced by Jake Sinclair (Taylor Swift, Fall Out Boy),DEATH OF A BACHELOR marks the first release from Panic! At The Disco in nearly two years, following 2013's acclaimed TOO WEIRD TO LIVE, TOO RARE TO DIE!. The album has already generated significant steam - current single Victorious rocketed to #1 on iTunes Top Songs chart, # 1 on Billboard + Twitter's Trending 140 chart, while also trending worldwide on Tumblr and Twitter.

The first single off Death Of A Bachelor,Hallelujah, made chart history for the band with a Top 40 debut on Billboard's Hot 100 - Panic! At The Disco's second Top 40 hit and first since 2006's breakthrough classic, I Write Sins, Not Tragedies. The album's title track, Death of A Bachelor, has been described by Urie as, It's like some BeyoncÉ beats with some Sinatra vocals. It's really crazy... [Sinatra's] music has been a major player in the soundtrack of my life. So it's only right that I return the favor and/or pay it forward.

    The Panic Sequence EP

Mixed by Grammy-Award winning engineer Gus Oberg (The Strokes, The Virgins, Drowners, Albert Hammond Jr.) and produced by Nightbox themselves,
with co-production from Al-P of MSTRKRFT and co-writing from Sebastien Grainger of DFA 1979 on the lead single "Burning," The Panic Sequence EP is
the next progression for a rising band rooted in charmingly humble beginnings.

With their self-titled debut EP on Last Gang Records, Nightbox caught the ears of the BBC, which ranked their performance in the top-10 of that year's
Electric Picnic Festival. Over the next couple years, support slots on both sides of the Atlantic for Ellie Goulding, Cults and DFA 1979 followed, along with
international tours with LIGHTS, Dragonette, and most recently Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. As did critical praise from UK press NME, Dazed &
Confused, BBC Radio 1, Canadian media and a slew of top blogs like Neon Gold and Kick Kick Snare.

Now with The Panic Sequence, Nightbox are ready to step out from the shadow of their influences and leave their own musical imprint on Toronto and the
wider world. The EP will be released April 22 via Toronto-based label Rare Beef.

    Painting Of A Panic Attack

Painting Of A Panic Attack was recorded at Dessner's Brooklyn studio - where The National also recorded The National's High Violet and Trouble Will Find Me - and at Dreamland Studio in Woodstock, NY in the summer of 2015. Much of the album is indebted lyrically to Los Angeles, where frontman Scott Hutchison moved to from Scotland in 2014 Tracks such as Get Out, the lead single which chronicles an addictive and obsessive love, and Still Want To Be Here, telling of his struggle with adjusting to life in LA, perfectly encapsulate the mindset of the Frightened Rabbit frontman since the band's last release. And, of the album closer Die Like A Rich Boy, Dessner says, [It] feels like a completely classic song, but it's also a distillation of everything Scott has ever written about. It's so gracefully constructed and realized, and it's not trying to be anything other than what it is. I wish I could write a song like that.

Widespread Panic: Live From Austin, Texas

If you're among the legions of
Widespread Panic fans, you already know
that the band is legendary for never playing the same show twice -
or the same song the same way twice. What makes this performance
that much more special is the inspiring presence of founding member
Michael Houser (whose nickname "Panic" inspired the band's name),
who died of pancreatic cancer less than two years later. As much
as anything, this is a celebration of Houser's life and the sheer joy
he brought to a band that became one of the biggest draws on the
international concert circuit and created a vibe that makes the Panic
experience unique in the pop rock world.

But anybody who knows anything about them knows that
Widespread Panic is so much more than just a jam-happy rock band.
From the time Houser and John Bell ("JB") began playing duets around
Athens, Georgia, in the early 80's, their repertoire ranged from early
covers of the Grateful Dead and Bob Marley to a host of original songs
(among them "Space Wrangler", included here) that demonstrate, as
The Village Voice wrote, "a willingness to dip their collective toe into
just about any genre." This is classic Widespread Panic, including David
Schools on bass, John Hermann on keys, Todd Nance on drums and
    Domingo Ortiz on percussion.

One look at this show and it'll quickly become obvious there
was something strange going on in the house that night. Yes, it was
Halloween, 2000, and the rabid fans went beyond even their usual
hard-core delirium. This was one time the audience almost threatened
    to steal the show!

I think one of the big things as we were working on the record, was just pushing ourselves forward, All Time Low singer Alex Gaskarth explained in a recent Alternative Press interview discussing the band's new single, 'Dirty Laundry.' When we put out Don't Panic, we hit the reset button on the band and we started looking at Don't Panic as if it was our first record out of the gate as a more realized version of All Time Low.

Then [there was] Future Hearts, he continues. And that felt like we started pushing the envelope forward and trying to expand the sound and grow. 'Dirty Laundry' is a continuation of that. It's taking the idea from the last album and continuing to push it forward and explore new things.

'Last Young Renegade' is All Time Low's Fueled By Ramen debut and follow-up to the band's 2015 release, Future Hearts.

Troubadour is the fourth album by JJ Cale, released in 1976. Eric Clapton covered the song Cocaine on his 1977 album Slowhand, turning it into one of his biggest hits.

Clapton later covered the track Travelin' Light for his 2001 studio album Reptile. Travelin' Light was also recorded by Widespread Panic for their album Space Wrangler in 1988.

Producer Audie Ashworth introduced some different instruments for a slightly altered sound on Troubadour. But the album still bears the typical introspective J.J. Cale style we all love so much!

    Pretty. Odd

For Panic At The Discos sophomore follow-up to their Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen break-through debut 2005s A Fever You Cant Sweat Out, the band holed up in a Las Vegas studio with renowned producer Rob Mathes. What they created is nothing short of a masterpiece, the 60s pop-inspired Pretty Odd. This time around, the band opted for real instruments and live tracking over Pro Tools software, citing influences as The Beach Boys, Bob Dylan and The Beatles. Guitarist Ryan Ross explains, We want to make music that is simple and timeless and not too pretentious. The band also did additional tracking at the Abbey Road Studio in London, adding a Beatles-esque flavor to their usual Vegas flare. The song lyrics have moved away from the whole one-liner, sarcastic thing says Ross, in favor of more everyday things. Lead single Nine In The Afternoon has the band showing a healthy dose of maturity, having grown as songwriters and instrumentalists.

Breath in, breath out: Psychosis is the fourth installment from the most lucent export of Brazil: CAVALERA CONSPIRACY!

The Thrash Metal-brothers Iggor and Max Cavalera dive deep into the mire of human panic and anxiety states. This is the soundtrack to your worst sickness, a most sinister Thrash-psychoses that rip the scabs from old wounds.

The album features brutal shredding on the track Spectral War then progresses to super-fast blastbeats in Judas Pariah that lead into the stomping beast called Crom. A hail of Black and Death Metal-arsenal that disturb your hearing in so many ways! Just merciless. Primarily these guitar solos chatter in paranoid disharmony.

With Psychosis CAVALERA CONSPIRACY are able to reanimate the intensity of the good old 80s thrash, black and death metal. This record is so powerful, that even the thought of hearing this wonder hurts. The brothers Cavalera have outlived all the crazy eras of metal and remain more stable and frightening than ever! Psychosis is terrific, in the truest sense of the word. You won't find any thrash metal on the planet that could boast more brutal. Bow your heads down amidst the brothers of the crowbar!

    Lost Legends of Surf Guitar

It's hard to think of a musical style that's more quintessentially American than surf music. Springing up along the California coast in the early 1960s, the surf sound-characterized by wet-sounding guitar reverb that echoed the sound of the sea and pummeling rhythms that emulated the ocean's currents-was originally inspired and nurtured by the culture that surrounded the sport. Despite its provincial origins, the surf genre captured the imagination of teenagers around the world, and spawned a remarkably large body of highly original music, with an emphasis on innovative guitar instrumentals that would influence rock axemen for decades to come.

Much of that vintage surf music was originally released on small regional labels, and many of the acts that created some of the greatest surf music never released more than a handful of singles. Those factors resulted in many original surf classics remaining difficult to obtain in recent years. Sundazed Music, a longstanding champion of vintage surf music, went a long way towards remedying that situation with the release of its CD series Lost Legends of Surf Guitar. The series has been widely recognized for rescuing numerous rare, obscure and/or lesser-known gems from surf music's golden age. Now, the landmark series moves into second gear, progressing into the vinyl format with a pair of double-LP collections, each of which features 28 below-the-radar vintage surf killers.

    Birthdays

In this frantic Twitterworld, where all the genres of music are either mating with other genres, feeding on the past or searching for the next trending wave, Keaton Henson personifies the moment when time stops still. It's the almost shocking sound of one man and his gently stoked electric guitar, which flicks like the embers of a fire, as the singer's voice glows in the reflected light, safe in his panic room.

Crippled by anxiety since childhood, to the point that he rarely goes out or plays live, the wondrously bearded Keaton is the archetypal tortured recluse who channels his emotions not into shopping or clubbing but his art: he's a skilled illustrator too, of bare-boned drawings that are as starkly delineated as his guitar-playing.

Birthdays follows 2012's cult debut album Dear..., and for its first half, Henson avoids slipping into post-dubstep, chillwave or hiring Skrillex in order to fit in.
But there is change underfoot. Dear featured one drum track, so the subtle beat behind The Best Today is no biggie. But half way through the following Don't Swim, it's like an ember has landed in your lap. The song's sudden electrical charge, which persists through the following, thunderous Kronos, is the sound of Henson wrenched from his comfort zone. Birthdays' second track suggests he's even reached Paris.

In fact, the whole album was recorded in California by American producer Joe Chiccarelli (The Shins, The Strokes). And various guests, including Jesca Hoop on ghostly backing vocals, have chipped in. Birthdays' second half takes Heaton closer to Jeff Buckley's turf: the unforced vibrato, the goosepimply effect and romantic hunger. But it's a subtle shift, and the instrumentation only partially reconfigures the secluded spell.

Beekeeper's occasional bouts of rock doesn't drown out the soft peals of banjo, while the swell of French horns, martial drum and Henson's fluttering voice in Sweetheart, What Have You Done to Us sounds like he's still in his bedroom. Up there, warmed by the fire, he's cloistered away from Twitter and all the other evils of this parish. There's no better way to shut out the din than by putting this record on.

    Once More With Feeling

Endearing and electrifying... [Ought] treats panic attacks and adrenalized
ecstasy as two sides of the same pounding heart, with its simultaneous
transmissions of joy and fear, discipline and chaos, comedy and tragedy.
    - PITCHFORK (BEST NEW MUSIC for More Than Any Other Day)

Four young men on the verge of a complete breakdown and/or total
transcendence; four decades of art-rock refracted into something weird,
brilliant and new. - - ROLLING STONE

Deeply refreshing, bursting at the seams with joy and anger and less
indebted to its long list of influences than it is an entity greater than the
sum of its parts." -- ALL MUSIC GUIDE

Four-piece post-punk group Ought has been gathering momentum the
old-fashioned way, with a humble and deceptively unassuming debut
album that's been worming its way into many many ears thanks to its
combination of intelligence, authenticity, directness, simplicity and
energy; and with live performances in which the band's channeling of
genuine passion, politics and charisma are consistently connecting with
    and exuberantly galvanizing audiences.

Released in April 2014, More Than Any Other Day has been showered
with accolades. Since then, the band's mostly been on the road, racking
up live shows and ramping up the attack on their existing songbook.
Discussion of a tour-only release that would grab a couple of the band's
self-recorded early tunes and commit them to vinyl shifted by the end
of spring towards a realization that Ought wanted to update this
material to reflect how the songs have evolved on stage and in concert.
An intense weekend session at MontrÉal's Hotel2Tango in June 2014
yielded new recordings of two early pieces, Pill and New Calm Pt. 2
(the self-recorded 2012 versions of which remain available on Ought's
Bandcamp) along with the brand new, more experimental and largely
instrumental New Calm Pt. 3. The fantastic non-album track Waiting
from the More Than Any Other Day sessions (and the first tune to be
given out via Constellation when we announced the Ought signing)
rounds out this 4-song, 24-minute, 10 vinyl-only offering, suitably titled
    Once More With Feeling

As with More Than Any Other Day, the 10 was
recorded by Radwan Ghazi Moumneh at H2T, mastered by Harris
Newman at Grey Market, and pressed at the inimitable Optimal record
plant in Germany. We think it's a very fine set of tunes that brings fans
up to date with Ought's first two years of songwriting and reveals
additional facets of the band, including its ability to play with nostalgia
and balladry (Pill), feverish revival-tent testifying (New Calm Pt. 2),
and improv/abstraction (New Calm Pt. 3). Thanks for listening.

    Pop Crimes

Rowland S. Howard started playing in teenage bands in late
70s Melbourne. Whilst still a callow youth he wrote "Shivers," an
undisputed classic, (quietly ignoring the fact that Rowland perhaps
doesn't see it that way and approaches the song as if it was written
by someone else). The song was recorded by his band The Boys Next
Door who mutated into the Birthday Party and then relocated to
Europe to wage a guerrilla campaign against the trivialities of the
80s, until they turned their fire upon themselves and disintegrated
    mid-decade.

Whilst his former associates have moved on to weekend colour
supplement acceptability, Rowland has commonly been perceived
as the banished wastrel prince... exiled to a squalid garret on the
colder edges of the kingdom, accompanied only by his dreams and
inclinations. His demeanour (pale, gaunt, stick thin, sickly, dark
humoured, fatalistic) has perhaps inadvertently added far too much
credence to this interpretation of events. The shadow of this myth
has seemingly obscured the sheer volume of his creativity and the
    singularity of his musical vision.

Always respected by his peers, a scan through Rowland's
catalogue of work sees him allied with the likes of Lydia Lunch,
Thurston Moore, Wim Wenders, Barry Adamson, The Gun Club, Nikki
Sudden, the Beasts Of Bourbon, the Hungry Ghosts and HTRK.
Rowland's own ensemble These Immortal Souls gun their engines
in the ill-lit background and the legacy of his work with The Birthday
Party scores the skin of successive generations of musicians and
    fans.

But it's a history Rowland would gleefully put a match to. With or
without it Rowland S. Howard would make tense, beautiful music,
would deliver us his personal vision of the world, would create Pop
    Crimes.

Long-time faithful friends Mick Harvey (who played with Rowland
for over 30 years), JP Shilo (Hungry Ghosts) and producer Lindsay
Gravina make for a formidable backline. Out front the guitar playing
couldn't be any one else but Rowland S Howard and his weary,
almost journalistic vocal delivery dispassionately sits amidst the
sweaty panic of the music, adding to the ill ease.

The band lurch in to Pop Crimes as if dragging a rain soaked body
across a muddy field. The ghosts of Lee Hazlewood, Snatch, Sergio
Leone, The Shangri-Las and nameless guys from a never known chain
gang watch on. Within the first few breaths Rowland references
Stalin, Calvary and genocide, whilst razoring guitar lines the current
crop of post-punk revisionists could only fantasize about.

"Shut Me Down" is Rowland at his most romantic, though
inevitably it's shot through with loss and longing. If only Dusty
Springfield were alive to revel in its drama. Talk Talk's 'Life's What
You Make It' is re-imagined as if it had risen from the grind of a
Detroit auto plant's assembly line. '(I Know) A Girl Called Johnny'
sees Jonnine D from HTRK sidle up to the microphone for a duet
that will melt even the coldest of hearts. It's a glorious missing link
between the New York girl group sound and the street smarts of
Suicide. Townes Van Zandt's "Nothin" is given a chilling tenement
building transformation. "Wayward Man" has the band wailing like
alarm sirens before Rowland emerges at his most contemplative
with the gorgeous, fragile build of "Ave Maria." Final track "The
Golden Age Of Bloodshed" takes the album out on a swaggering,
swashbuckling epic, with salvation slipping through the narrator's
    fingers.

    Nervous

    "Carefully crafted, perfectly balanced, addictively
    melodic" - ROCK-A-ROLLA

"In cold surroundings, moments of warmth arrive
with life-affirming brightness, and that's what
makes Siskiyou's music so memorable" - BLURT

Siskiyou returns with Nervous, a majestic album of carefully constructed art rock
built around songwriter and lead singer Colin Huebert's stacked acoustic guitars
and intimate, whispery vocals. Siskiyou's sound has been previously dubbed a sort
of 'Northern Gothic', conjuring cold winds and the life-saving warmth of temporary
shelters and tiny hearth fires. With Nervous, the band continues to push beyond
the crisp lo-fi intimacy of its early work, and has forged its most confident and
finely-crafted recording to date, moving fully into auteur and chamber-pop
territory with a song cycle that brings to mind the meticulousness of mood and
sonics found in recent work by PJ Harvey, Nick Cave and Tindersticks. Inflected
by an anxious, sussurant restraint, Huebert's voice is supported by the falsetto
backing vocal counterpoint and economical instrumentation of bandmates Erik
Arnesen, Peter Carruthers and Shaunn Watt. Fans of the understated and
underrated 1990s group Swell may also hear a welcome evocation of that group's
acoustic guitar-driven simplicity and austere deployment of adornments.

Following Siskiyou's excellent sophomore release Keep Away The Dead in 2011,
Huebert became afflicted with a serious inner ear condition that eluded
conventional diagnosis. While honouring a previously-scheduled songwriting
residency in Dawson City, Yukon in winter 2012, Huebert found himself grappling
with severe anxiety and an unwelcome interiority, engendered by hyperacusis and
a house that felt utterly haunted. Intense chronic ear-ringing and panic attacks
continued throughout the year, for which conventional medicine was unable to find
any cause or effective treatment; Huebert began focusing on meditation, retreated to
silence for a period, and then began rehearsing his new songs with the band at
extremely low volumes. The songs on Nervous are shot through with the entirety of
this experience: the literal feeling of being trapped in one's head and the physica-lpsychological
feedback loop of debilitating anxiety; the lyrical themes and tense,
whispered singing amidst tightly-wrought compositions and arrangements.

Huebert found solace in new working methods within the controlled environment
of studio-based production and composition, developing new sonic palettes and
pursuing new avenues of instrumental arrangement and recording fidelity.
Working with producer/engineer Leon Taheny (Owen Pallett/Final Fantasy, Dusted,
Austra) on most of Nervous, Siskiyou has emerged with by far its most assured,
ambitious and authoritative recordings, while preserving the economy of elements,
deft structures, and assiduous melodic deliberation for which the band has been
rightly celebrated over its two previous albums. In charting escape paths from his
disquieting cranial confinement, Huebert has very much succeeded in setting his
songs out on an expansive canvas, while preserving a palpable sense of nervous
interiority and quiet desperation at their heart.
