Sever The Wicked HandLimited Edition
This US quartet, formed in 1989, emerged in the early 90s as one of the leading lights of the New Orleans extreme metal scene, purveying a sound that blended Black Sabbath/Saint Vitus-styled heaviness with hardcore aggression. Kirk Windstein (b. 14 April 1965, Wiltshire, England; vocals/guitar), Todd Strange (b. 1966, USA; bass) Kevin Noonan (guitar) and Craig Nunenmacher (drums) made their debut in 1991 with the dark and doom-laden Obedience Thru Suffering, after which Noonan was replaced by Matt Thomas, a former bandmate of Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo in Razor White. Anselmo, an old friend who collaborates with Windstein on side-projects such as Down and Both Legs Broken, helped to refine and improve the band`s sound with his sympathetic production on Crowbar, which included a brutally heavy interpretation of Led Zeppelin`s `No Quarter`, adapted stylishly to the Crowbar sound.
The band was well received on tour with Paradise Lost in the UK and Pantera in the USA, and released the Live +1 EP (which was packaged with Crowbar in the UK) before returning to the studio with the stated intention of making Crowbar sound `like Jethro Tull`. In 1995, Eyehategod guitarist Jimmy Bower (b. 1966, USA), who had played with the original line-up in 1989, was recruited as the band`s new drummer, although Time Heals Nothing was recorded with Nunenmacher. True to form and promise, it provided a thunderous blast of controlled aggression and dark melodicism. Guitarist Sammy Pierre Duet (ex-Acid Bath) joined in time to help record 1996`s Broken Glass.
Bower left following the release of the 1998 follow-up Odd Fellows Rest. He was replaced by Sid Montz on 2000`s Equilibrium, following which Strange retired from the music scene and Nunemacher departed the ranks for a second time. Subsequent albums have seen sole remaining founding member Windstein joined by an ever-changing cast list of personnel.LP 1

Down II: A Bustle in Your HedgerowThis was Down's first album in seven years since the release of NOLA, the longest gap between the band's Four studio albums to date. Since Down was a supergroup, the band went on hiatus in 1996 so that members could focus on their main bands (namely Eyehategod, Corrosion of Conformity, Crowbar and Pantera). Down reformed in 1999 with Pantera bassist Rex Brown replacing Todd Strange. The band wanted the album to have a bluesy feel, so they moved into Phil Anselmo's barn, dubbed Nödferatu's Lair, in southern Louisiana where they lived and recorded the album in 28 days without anyone leaving the house.LP1

The WildernessPonykiller is an up and coming band formed in New Orleans circa 2008. Their sound embodies an aural amalgam composed of progressive psychedelic rock and hardcore elements coated with a glossy pop sheen. The musical product is the synthesis of individual players in the group, who hail from California and Louisiana.
Lead singer/rhythm guitarist Collin Yeo amplifies his haunting melodic lyrics with a spacey surf atmosphere. Lead guitarist Ben Deffendall juxtaposes Yeo's sound with etherial vibe and pointed metal edge. Tim Nolan combines classic jazz drumming with bombastic movment and grooves in an eclectic rhythm experience. Trevor Darling straddles the boundaries created by the cast around him as he steadily reinforces cadence while venturing out on speculative bass tangents.
Produced by Philip H. Anselmo (Pantera), the album weaves warm organic tones with a live aesthetic, creating a polished sound with spontaneous interludes. From the pop sensibility of Some Sunny Girl to the hyptonic psychedelia that is Head Hunters, The Wilderness presents a wide array of refreshing sounds and styles.1. I-5

Melk En HoningAuthor & Punisher s newest album entitled MELK EN HONING , produced by Phil Anselmo (Pantera, Down, Superjoint Ritual, and more) due out Summer 2015, is melange of his various drone machinery together, multiple physical rhythm machines, some synth and the new electromechanical masks that began to appear in A&P performances across the U.S. and Europe in 2014. After 2 years of heavy touring and festival appearances, the goal with this album became to try and capture the live dissonant power of the A&P experience. The combination of Anselmo s persistence, expertise and some of Shone s new experimentation with various vocal devices, this is a vocal-prominent, bass heavy album that combines A&P's signature elusive drone sequences and hard hitting rhythms with unexpected terrains of melody and musicality that sustain Shone's reputation as an unorthodox innovator in a class all of his own.
Abandoning the typical guitar and drums set up, Author & Punisher makes aggressive rhythmic and oscillatory soundscapes from his own custom fabricated and precision machinery. Designed by Shone himself, the instruments of Author & Punisher are custom devices that begin mostly as big chunks of aluminum and steel that are worked into all manners of wheels, throttles, pedals, and masks to manipulate sound live. Shone s electromechanical arsenal and physical approach to live production become to heavy music what Survival Research Laboratories was to live, unscripted performance art. Pitchfork styled him immediate but mysterious, Stereogum described his chilling, unrecognizable form, and NPR hails him as a thrill [who] fires on all cylinders.$22.99Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed Buy Now
Confuse And Conquer (Awaiting Repress)Formed in 1980, POISON IDEA became a household name in the hardcore/punk scenes early in their career, and are known as one of the most notoriously in-your-face acts in the American musical underworld, with an enraged, high-energy live set even more rambunctious than the massive roster of singles, EPs, full-length studio and live releases and more, across a realm of labels including Pusmort, Tim/Kerr, Epitaph, Farewell, TKO, Southern Lord, and their own Fatal Erection. They've been an incredibly influential act to major performers including Nirvana, Pantera, Napalm Death, Machine Head, Eyehategod, Emperor, Turbonegro and an endless list of others.
It is with massive enthusiasm that Southern Lord Recordings announces the brand NEW Poison Idea studio LP: Confuse & Conquer featuring eleven raging new anthems. Recorded by Joel Grind (Toxic Holocaust) and mastered by Brad Boatright (From Ashes Rise), the record booms with thirty-five minutes of fully ignited hardcore punk in the monolithic style the band has provided for three-and-a-half decades now.1. Down IV Part IIWith a collective resume encompassing Pantera, Corrosion of Conformity, and Eyehategod, the quintet puffed out its
first haze of sonic smoke from the belly of gritty old New Orleans on the 1995 platinum-selling classic, Nola. At that
moment, they naturally summoned something akin to a ritual, continually partaking in it with critically revered
offerings-Down II: A Bustle In Your Hedgerow in 2002, Down III: Over the Under in 2007, and Down IV - Part One
in 2012. Their shows built a certain live lore with unforgettable runs alongside Metallica and Heaven & Hell as well as
coveted spots on Download, Soundwave, and OZZfest. On 2014's Down IV - Part Two [Available via Down Records/

WholeChicago heavy rockers SOIL release their sixth studio album Whole via Pavement Entertainment. It's the band's first 100% independent release.
We wanted to call all the shots on this album and, for the first time ever, hold our future in our own hands, explains bassist Tim King.
Whole is the first SOIL album with original frontman Ryan McCombs since 2004's Re.De.Fine (after which he joined DROWNING POOL). It sees SOIL returning to its classic sound that fans have come to admire, with a pres release calling it the CD that could have come directly after the 'Scars' album in 2001."
Following the 2012 release of its first-ever live DVD, Re-LIVE-ing The Scars, SOIL began writing new material and entered the studio in February 2013 with producer Ulrich Wild (PANTERA, BREAKING BENJAMIN) to begin recording.
This was by far the most comfortable and natural recording process we have ever experienced, says guitarist Adam Zadel. From the writing, pre-production, and through the main tracking and mixing, everything was smooth and fluid.
Songs featured on Whole include The Hate Song, Loaded Gun, Way Gone and Shine On, which is dedicated to the SOIL fans for standing by the band throughout the years. Another track, Amalgamation, sees McCombs taking songtitles from both the SOIL and DROWNING POOL releases he was a part of and weaving them into verses of the song.
I think, lyrically speaking, those that are familiar with the work I've done are going to get the next chapter that they would expect, McCombs says about the lyrical process. Words from a heart and mind that has lived them.
One of the greatest things I experience as a lyricist is when people come up and share with me how a song, or a specific verse or line from a song, got them through a hard time or times in their lives. It reminds me of the times music did that for me and how powerful music and/or a lyric can be in a person's life.
Drums and percussion on Whole were performed by Will Hunt (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, EVANESCENCE, DEVICE).
Will added a whole new dimension to the songs, states King. He added a monstrous and aggressive vibe to the album.
A guest guitar solo on Wake Up was performed by longtime friend Mike Mushok of the band STAIND.

Hell Bent For LettersAlternative Tentacles tosses our well-worn thinking cap into the no-holds-barred, no-child-left-behind ring of Educore with Hell Bent for Letters, the latest outing by Seattle's BLOODHAG. Formed in 1995 to stimulate a communion between literacy and punk/metal, BLOODHAG boasts a lineup of noted science fiction authors Prof. J. B. Stratton, Dr. J. M. McNulty, Sir Zachary Orgel and the shadowy occultist Master Brent Carpenter. They created the genre of Edu-core and operate under the motto Th e faster you go deaf, the more time you have to read.
While BLOODHAG's minute-long songs have the common theme of esteemed authors such as George Orwell and Philip K. Dick--and their live shows include between-song mini-lectures as well as pelting of the audience with books--the music counters with the blunt force of bands like BRUJERIA, PANTERA, SEPULTURA, etc.
It's open to debate whether Edu-core can actually pummel literary history into the hungry minds of head-banging youth, but we certainly can't blame BLOODHAG for trying to bridge the gap between death metal tombs and Pulizerwilling tomes or the beer-soaked venues and pristine libraries (yes, they really tour public libraries).
With their neckties and pocket protectors cocked and loaded, BLOODHAG is ready to stave off the dumbing down of America. So, invest in the leaders of tomorrow! Buy Hell Bent for Letters today!
Glorifyingly hooked on demonics, they make some of the heaviest, snuggie underwear-soiling sounds this side of SPAZZ and BRUJERIA, while mixing in some Reading Rainbow, -Thrasher Magazine

Eyehategod (Awaiting Repress)Legendary New Orleans gods of sludge, excess and mayhem EYEHATEGOD release their new, self-titled album.
Mixed by Sanford Parker, Eyehategod will feature the final recordings of EYEHATEGOD drummer Joey LaCaze, who passed away last August of respiratory failure. He also suffered from severe long-term asthma. He has since been replaced by Aaron Hill, who comes by way of New Orleans' local acts MISSING MONUMENTS and MOUNTAIN OF WIZARD.
In a recent interview with NPR, EYEHATEGOD frontman Mike IX Williams stated about the band's forthcoming album: We started out the recording with Billy Anderson. He recorded the drums, bass and some guitar, but that was a mess. There was a documentary crew in there filming, and it was distracting away from our time recording. Jimmy [Bower, guitar] was having a couple problems at the time too, waiting for his kid to be born, so it was a weird time to be in the studio. We ended up using just Joey's drum tracks from Billy. He's awesome - I love him and there's no hard feelings, but we just wanted to finish it somewhere else. We got Steve Berrigan to come out to where I live two hours outside of NOLA, and redid the bass and the guitars. Phil Anselmo [PANTERA, DOWN] gave me some ideas for the vocals, like how we did the ARSON ANTHEM record; me and him work well together.
Asked if EYEHATEGOD ever considered giving up following Joey's passing, Mike said: It was never an option as far as I'm concerned. I don't think it was for anybody else either.
This all happened at the end of September, when we'd just gotten back from a six-week tour of Europe. He's had pretty bad asthma ever since I've known him, and in Europe he was having these weird sleep apnea things when he was sleeping. It was a breathing issue, a respiratory thing, but I don't know; I'm not a doctor. So when we got back, that's when he passed away, so there was a little bit of time in there when we had to think - 'We've got shows booked. What do we do?' We did have to cancel probably 50% of them, but we still just said, 'Let's keep going, that's what he would want us to do.' We'd even had conversations before, when Joey and I would talk, and he'd ask me, 'Who would you get to replace me?' Things like that, and just be honest with each other. He knew the band would keep going, and he wanted it to.
To me, it's just part of life; it's just the way things happen, what cards you're dealt, how life treats you.
We don't know how to give up. That's been the story of our entire career, our lives, even without the band. We just don't know when to quit. It's just a matter of moving forward.

Official Live: 101 Proof (Out Of Stock)Official Live: 101 Proof reached #15 on the Billboard Top 200 charts with the album receiving solid reviews.
The first fourteen tracks are live recordings of songs from previously released studio albums (starting with Cowboys from Hell); the last two songs (Where You Come from and I Can't Hide) are studio recordings made for this album.
After years of constant touring, Pantera decided to document their definitive live experience with Official Live: 101 Proof, culled from their U.S. Tourkill circa 1996-1997 and augmented with the new studio tracks Where You Come From and I Can't Hide.
Vinnie Paul explained, We felt like after 7 years of playing live, that we wanted to put out a record with all our best tunes.
With material that draws primarily from the band's heavy metal masterpieces Vulgar Display of Power (1992) and Far Beyond Driven (1994) such as Walk, This Love, Fucking Hostile, I'm Broken, Becoming and 5 Minutes Alone, that's exactly what Official Live: 101 Proof is, a live greatest hits and a powerful love letter to their fans.1.
