    Musicforthemorningafter (Awaiting Repress)

    10th Anniversary Reissue!

Pete Yorn's 2001 release Musicforthemorningafter was arguably one of the last of its kind: an unknown singer/songwriters debut, given a classic major-label push. And it still sounds like one of the best things that happened to rock that year. Made at the weird unruly intersection of '90s alternative rock and a new stubbornly-indie underground, Yorns first record was a decisive turn away from the large hollow rage of grunge and rap-metal, into a richer tumult of folk-rock reflection, garage-band grind and pop-smart composition, with a striking confessional tension rooted in Yorns teenage passion for the British rhythm and melancholy of the Smiths, the Cure and New Order. LP reissue features original 2LPs in gatefold jacket, remastered by original engineer Bob Ludwig, on 180g vinyl.

    Pete Yorn

With ten years and five studio albums under his belt, Pete Yorn is a stalwart in the singer/songwriter world. Originally receiving acclaim for his work scoring a Farrelly Brothers film (Me, Myself and Irene), Yorn quickly began garnering much deserved attention for his efforts as a songwriter outside of his work on film. Having tasted success, Yorn released his first full-length, musicforthemorningafter in 2001, which went gold and had Rolling Stone hailing him one of Ten To Watch in 2001.

Fast forward through nearly a decade and multiple musical ventures to 2010 to find Pete Yorn releasing his sixth studio album on Vagrant Records. The 11-song collection was produced by Frank Black (The Pixies) and is comprised of raw tracks, born of shattered nerves and shifting dreams yet edged with hope.

Recorded on the spur-of-the-moment in the summer of 2008, Yorns forthcoming album is a self-titled piece with a plain black cover. While in the midst of tracking Back & Forth, Yorn received an email from Frank Black suggesting they record some songs. After hopping a plane to Salem, OR, Black and Yorn set up an impromptu studio where they created the album in a mere five days. The result is Yorns most introspective work to date, as the self-titled album explores relationships, ambivalence and our natural fear of the future and unknown.

Pete Yorn will release his sixth full-length studio album, and first for Capitol Records, ArrangingTime, in 2016.

ArrangingTime plays with the elasticity of the years- it's not only a culmination of the Los Angeles by way of New Jersey artist's adventurous latter-day projects, but a return to his original leaner methods. For the first time since Yorn's RIAA gold-certified debut, musicforthemorningafter [2001] and its follow-up Day I Forgot [2003] producer R. Walt Vincent returns to help Yorn execute his most poised and diverse set of songs yet. ArrangingTime runs the gamut from elegiac folk to wasteland blues to upbeat, synth-kissed rock. Of course, some things never change. Yorn still plays the observer, stepping into characters - or his past selves from previous years - routing wistful poems and beatific visions through the weather-beaten voice of a man who's seen a few things in his time.

"I'll look at pictures of places I went, or things I did," says Yorn, "and I think, 'Look at how great that day was and you just missed it.' I think about the past and how much of it is a blur. The title of the album is a reminder to be present and within each song is a minor lesson about that. Time only gets faster as you get older."

Reverie Lagoon: Music For Escapism Only

On their sophomore full-length, Torrance, CA's Seahaven captures a dreamy,
sprawling, airy southern California mood. Produced and engineered by Ben
Brodin (Bright Eyes, Pete Yorn) at Omaha's ARC recording studio, the subtle
combination of emo, indie and post-punk is brought to life by the uplifting natural production and orchestral instrumentation. Warm, beach-y reverb blankets
equally contemplative and carefree sounding pop that ebbs and flows with rising
strings and def percussion, making for Seahaven's most interesting and engaging
    songs yet.

After self-producing The Download EP, a six-song batch of demos, Innerpartysystem recruited a group of A-list producers and mixers to work with on their self-titled debut including Joel Hamilton (Book of Knots, Sparklehorse, Blue Tip), Mark Needham (The Killers, Pete Yorn), Spike Stent (Björk, Arcade Fire) and Alan Moulder (Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, Jesus & Mary Chain, The Killers) and Stuart Price, Seal, The Killers). Innerpartysystem's debut deftly toes the line between anthemic pop-rock and melodramatic electro-pop.

The origins of Innerpartysystem can be traced to 2002, when drummer Jared Piccone and vocalist Patrick Nissley attended school together in Reading, Pennsylvania. The duo started writing songs together, inspired by both their love of electronic music and hardcore punk. Piccone and Nissley then recruited multi-instrumentalists Kris Barman and Jesse Cronan to join the band and their sound moved further into samples and the electronic direction that can be heard on their debut.

    Fire Away

Fire Away is the Grammy Award-winning bands fifth studio full length. Produced by acclaimed producer Tony Berg, Fire Away features eleven new Ozomatli songs, including the first single Its Only Paper, currently being serviced to radio. Ozomatlis music, a collision of hip hop and salsa, dancehall and cumbia, samba and funk, merengue and comparsa, East LA R&B and New Orleans second line, Jamaican ragga and Indian raga, has long followed a key mantra: it will take you around the world by taking you around the city of LA.

This certainly resonated with producer Tony Berg (Aimee Mann, Pete Yorn), who describes working with Ozomatli like visiting seven continents simultaneously. Berg believes the Fire Away sessions captured the spirit of the bands live show without being a live album, and he sensed Ozomatli stretching themselves in the studio, adding each of the members had grown as a writer and as a musician. I think Fire Away reflects their true songwriting talents, everyones point-of-view was captured. That is the spirit of Ozomatli. Theyre pan-cultural, and they somehow manage to be raucous and thoughtful at the same time.

    Trouble Is A Lonesome Town

THRIFTSTORE MASTERPIECE is a revolving music collective devoted to paying homage to the
underdog records of years past. The debut album revisits Lee Hazlewood's 1963 lost classic Trouble
Is A Lonesome Town and features Pete Yorn, Frank Black (Pixies), Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse),
Courtney Taylor-Taylor (The Dandy Warhols), Eddie Argos (Art Brut), the late Larry Norman and more.

In 1963, Lee Hazlewood released his debut album Trouble is a Lonesome Town to little fanfare. It
was a collection of solo acoustic songs stitched together with a narrative that described life in a
fictional small town inhabited by outlaws, thieves, and down-and-out laborers. The album was hokey,
but hip. Corny, but cool. It evoked a bygone era of pastoral American towns and their sometimes seedy underbellies, somewhat like a darker version of the Andy Griffith Show or a more sinister
Prairie Home Companion. More importantly, it was a fully realized concept album that predated
the trend that is so common in today' s music world. Hazlewood had originally intended the songs
as demos for his publisher, in hopes that other artists might someday record them. A half century
later, the music collective known as THRIFTSTORE MASTERPIECE has done exactly that.

Producer I band leader Charles Normal explains I first came across the record around the turn of the
millennium while living in Oslo, Norway. I found it in a secondhand junk shop and it struck a nostalgic
note somewhere within me. It made me homesick for the panoply of Americana I had experienced
while slumming it in the Southwestern border towns and California desert whistle stops I drifted
through when I first started playing music on the road. The record didn't leave my turntable for
months. Years later, I started to envision the record as a more orchestrated statement and began
recording the basic tracks in my studio.

My brother, singer Larry Norman, lent his voice to a couple of the tracks, but when he passed away
from a heart attack in 2008 I fell into a deep funk and put the project on the back burner. I couldn't
bring myself to harmonize with his vocals ... it was just too emotional to deal with. It wasn't until much
later, prompted in part by Isaac Brock, that I dusted off the tapes and hard drives and began to finish
it. I went through my address book and started calling friends who happened to be in possession of
great voices to see if they were interested in joining in.
