BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME have built their reputation as one of hard rock's most inventive and ambitious bands. Sharing a lineage with such luminaries as Pink Floyd, King Crimson and Tool, they continue to explore new territory with a genuine passion to push themselves and their audience.

Colors, the band's fourth album, is a sonic labyrinth of grand proportion. It's an organism completely in its own class and at the nerve center is a band that encourages the listener to take the bold ride from beginning to end. The record is a continuous movement of savage metal, lush prog-rock and stimulating mood that morphs into some of the most forward thinking music today. Yet for a record that is so fierce and complex, it is also engaging and comfortable. It challenges the myths of what we expect from modern rock, demonstrating just how much potential there is in a band and the people who experience their craft.

The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn

Pink Floyd's debut album released in 1967, featuring the original line-up of Syd Barrett, Roger Waters, Richard Wright and Nick Mason.

The title of Pink Floyd's debut album is taken from a chapter in Syd Barrett's favorite children's book, The Wind in the Willows, and the lyrical imagery of The Piper at the Gates of Dawn is indeed full of colorful, childlike, distinctly British whimsy, albeit filtered through the perceptive lens of LSD. Barrett's catchy, melodic acid pop songs are balanced with longer, more experimental pieces showcasing the group's instrumental freak-outs, often using themes of space travel as metaphors for hallucinogenic experiences -- Astronomy Domine is a poppier number in this vein, but tracks like Interstellar Overdrive are some of the earliest forays into what has been tagged space rock. But even though Barrett's lyrics and melodies are mostly playful and humorous, the band's music doesn't always bear out those sentiments -- in addition to Rick Wright's eerie organ work, dissonance, chromaticism, weird noises, and vocal sound effects are all employed at various instances, giving the impression of chaos and confusion lurking beneath the bright surface.

The Piper at the Gates of Dawn successfully captures both sides of psychedelic experimentation -- the pleasures of expanding one's mind and perception, and an underlying threat of mental disorder and even lunacy; this duality makes Piper all the more compelling in light of Barrett's subsequent breakdown, and ranks it as one of the best psychedelic albums of all time.

The See See are a contemporary psychedelic band with one foot in 1967 and the other in 2014-they not only make psychedelic music for today, they make it for forever. The See See originated out of the ashes of some of the modern pop world's hippest guitar psych acts, most notably Richard Olson's 'The Eighteenth Day of May'. Forged in the Über-competitive London music scene, The See See have an ever-increasing fan base amongst Paisley Europeans fond of Television's guitars, Moby Grape's harmonies, the White Stripes' bite and Syd Barrett style. Their music is an exploding kaleidoscope of colors and sounds!

This is the band's first full-length US release, especially designed for the American market. Through a combination of their cutting-edge use of social media and their old-fashioned work ethic, which has seen The See See tour, tour and tour again, they have saturated the continental European indie market and given London its hippest, most innovative guitar scene in years!

This Sundazed anthology of music from these heirs to the Paisley Underground is classic psychedelia. Listen as The See See leave cult status behind and head for the far reaches of the galaxy and the top rung of the charts. Whether it's on 180 gram vinyl pressed at R.T.I. or compact disc, this collection should be ordered today as next week it will be the soundtrack of tomorrow!

    More Soundtrack

Concocted for director Barbet Schroeder's dystopian hippie road flick, this album marks Floyd's first venture into film scoring, a task they undertake with a verve that overshadows their lack of formal training in the field. With just a handful of cuts echoing the trippy, atmospheric space-rock that was so much a part of their early career, there's a surprisingly familiar dedication to songcraft evident here, especially for a soundtrack.

Roger Waters's acoustic ballads (Cirrus Minor, Crying Song, Green is the Color), dark and dirge-like, are familiar predecessors to music that would highlight Wish You Were Here and The Wall, while Dave Gilmour's slashing riffs on The Nile Song also foreshadow greatness to come. Moody and surprisingly eclectic, More has rightly earned its place as a Floyd cult fave. --Jerry McCulley

The Fickle Finger Of Fate (Awaiting Repress)

    Pressed On White Colored Vinyl

Introducing, the debut solo album from the enigmatic legend that is Dale Crover.

Amongst his 30+ year career as one-half of the essential Melvins roster, Crover has contributed to countless albums ranging from platinum-plated classics (ahem,Nirvana) to seminal cult LPs. However, up until this point, Crover's solo efforts have only appeared once in a blood moon, limited to the Melvins 1992 KISS-themed solo EP, and a couple intermittent 7 releases. The Fickle Finger Of Fate marks Crover's first calculated, full-length solo effort.

But let's be clear: this is not a drum record. The album features a perplexingly diverse batch of songs that recall the best moments of the Melvins catalog. With 90% of all instruments played by Crover and recorded by longtime engineer Toshi Kasai, the album is sure to tickle the temporal lobes of Melvins devotees.

Sonically, the album ranges from slightly microwaved heaviness, to surprisingly chill Pink Floyd-tinged ballads, to Max Roach-meets-Throbbing-Gristle drum experimentations,to good old fashioned Andy Kaufman-style head-fuckery.

Though consistently otherworldly, The Fickle Finger Of Fate is surprisingly approachable- dare we say, catchy. But even at it's most anthemic, you won't be able to shake the feeling that a sinister ambiance is hovering just beneath the surface.

    On A Storytellers Night

Deluxe 180 Gram Limited Edition Gatefold Red Vinyl

On a Storyteller's Night is the fifth studio album by British melodic rock band Magnum, released in 1985 on FM Records. The album is widely considered as Magnum's breakthrough album. This album features one of the Tony Clarkin's most thoughtful songs, "Les Mort Dansant" a simple song in that paints a picture of a man being executed by a firing squad. It is the way in which the song accomplishes this, with some very colorful and imaginative metaphors. Magnum had parted company with Jet Records in 1983, and Mark Stanway had departed to work with Phil Lynott's Grand Slam, and Kex Gorin had joined Robin George's band. In 1984 Keith Baker took over management, and the band recruited Drummer Jim Simpson and keyboard player Eddie George. Following a six-week tour of the UK, Tony Clarkin began writing new material. Mark Stanway would later return to the band, and the band recruited Kit Woolven, who has produced albums for Phil Lynott, David Gilmour and Thin Lizzy. The album was recorded at DEP International Studios, then known as The Abattoir Studios, home of UB40. Upon its release in May 1985, On a Storyteller's Night reached #24 in the UK charts and launched the band across Europe and is also notable for the stunning cover by fantasy illustrator Rodney Matthews. Two singles were released to promote the album, an alternate recording of "Just Like an Arrow" in March 1985 and "On a Storyteller's Night" in May 1985.

The Innermost Limits Of Pure Fun Soundtrack

    Translucent Gold Vinyl

Includes A Four-page Insert With Rare Photos

Liner Notes By Denny Aaberg And Dennis Dragon

Innermost Limits of Pure Fun, with its whimsical, philosophical "California" title, was a groundbreaking project in the history of sports footage. Filmmaker George Greenough was unencumbered by any commercial reasons for designing boards, boats, or in his wave riding technique, a true SOUL SURFER if there ever was one. With the means, and ideas, to use underwater camera gear that had not been previously used - and still rarely used to such great effect - Greenough's two late '60s cinematic efforts were the maximum effect, in the effort of communicating the feel of surfing to the viewer. Some of the non-surfers overwhelmed by the beauty of his work within "Innermost" came to George and offered their help for the follow-up, to be titled Echoes. These ho-dads from England were better known to the world as Pink Floyd.

In choosing who to soundtrack his debut masterpiece, Greenough went with the most dynamic band to record during the surf instrumental era of the early '60s, Capitol Records 45 r.p.m. artists The Dragons, who released "Troll" in 1964. The single was actually an excerpt from a soundtrack recorded for the early Dale Davis film Strictly Hot. What set it apart from the reverbed surf crunchers of the early '60s was its beyond "Pipeline" instrumentation. Keyboard riffs meshed fluidly with bass harmonica, sophisticated percussion, snap drums, and a fuzzy guitar ripping through bass lines so thick you would swear there was an orchestra behind them. That made sense, since the father of some Dragons was leader of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Carmen Dragon.

By 1969, The Dragons had progressed within a world ready for jazz improvisation in rock. Some of them had toured with the "Good Vibrations" era Beach Boys. It was with great intuition that George Greenough chose The Dragons for this soundtrack to "Innermost Limits of Pure Fun," for they had been itching to do a project where they could really let themselves GO. And there, you get it, within the package before you. What you're dealing with are surf instrumental musicians on a par unmatched, a few years after the trend, getting a chance to really dig in, in order to be involved at the level of media George Greenough was shaping.

This Deluxe Sundazed package available on colored vinyl includes a four-page insert featuring rare photos plus liner notes by Denny Aaberg, of the legendary Malibu Aaberg guitarist/surfer family, and Dennis Dragon, drummer of The Dragons, and without question the most prolific maker of surf movie soundtracks during its golden era of the '60s and '70s.

Band of Brothers is a 2001 American war drama miniseries based on historian Stephen E. Ambrose's 1993 non-fiction book of the same name. The executive producers were Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, who had collaborated on the 1998 World War II film Saving Private Ryan. The series won Emmy and Golden Globe Awards in 2001 for best miniseries.

Band of Brothers is a dramatized account of Easy Company (part of the 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment), assigned to the United States Army's 101st Airborne Division during World War II. Over the course of ten episodes, the series details the company's exploits during the war. It was the most expensive television miniseries made by HBO or any other television network when it was created in 2001.

The music for the series was written and composed by Michael Kamen, who worked with Pink Floyd for their 1982 movie The Wall and conducted The San Francisco Symphony Orchestra for Metallica's S&M. Michael Kamen also composed scores for Highlander, Lethal Weapon, Die Hard. License To Kill, Last Action Hero, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and many more. Sadly he passed away in 2003.

    True Sadness (Awaiting Repress)

True Sadness is a patchwork quilt, both thematically and stylistically. Wherein a myriad of contrasting fabrics make perfect sense on the same plane, this album draws upon countless resources from its writers and performers. To further propel the expansive color and textural fields of the record, we are blessed to play and perform music with a group of musicians who possess not only great talent, but great interpretive ability. They are an extension of our family and their care for the work at hand (and the project at large) informs a dynamic musical contribution to any piece we proudly give our last name. Sonically, the album is as multidimensional as its makers. The same could be said of its long list of influences. So the quilt is sewn, in part, with the brightly colored threads of Queen, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Jimmie Rodgers, Tom Petty, Nine Inch Nails, Gillian Welch, Aretha Franklin, Walt Disney, Pink Floyd, Kings of Convenience, calypso of the 1950s and country of the 1930s. Rock and roll is here, as always. There are moments of undeniable celebration and camaraderie, others of quiet and lonely exhalation. Throughout the album, we stitched together the boldest red and the calmest green, polka dots and stripes, the roughest denim and the smoothest velveteen. They came together because they are the best patterns we have and because each of us brought our own fabric to the quilting frame.

We made this record as people who have made records together before - with experienced hands, appreciative hearts, renewed focus, and the knowledge of our good fortune to make music once again.

Black Beauty, the never-before-released masterpiece by Arthur Lee's legendary psychedelic rock band Love, is available on 180-gram vinyl LP. Recorded in 1973 for the ambitious new label Buffalo Records,
the album remained unreleased when the company folded. Finally, after 39 years High Moon Records is honored to fulfill Arthur Lee's wish that Black Beauty be heard by music fans worldwide. Black Beauty is making its first-ever official release
in any format, anywhere! With unparalelled sound and state-of-the-art packaging, critics are hailing Black Beauty as an instant classic. Black Beauty is that rarest of rock artifacts: an unreleased,
full-length studio album, from an undisputed musical
genius. Black Beauty is the missing link in a catalog that includes Forever Changes, the classic 1967 Love album the New York Times called "one of the most affecting and beguiling albums of all time. With Black Beauty, Arthur Lee manages to combine searing 70's-rock with gorgeous melodies and stellar songwriting - topped off by his most distinctive, snarling, soulful vocals ever. With its wonderfully eclectic collection of songs, the
album offers Love fans a rare glimpse into a previously undocumented phase of Arthur Lee's fabled career, while shining a light for new fans to discover the unique genius that is the music of Arthur Lee and Love.

It's tempting to play what-if with Love's lost labor, Black Beauty, which was recorded in 1973 but shelved for nearly four decades. What if Buffalo Records hadn't gone out of business just prior to the album's release? What if Black Beauty had actually hit stores? What if it hadn't languished in limbo until years after Arthur Lee's death? Would it have stopped Love's slide into obscurity? Would it have signaled a comeback for the man who masterminded Forever Changes, still one of the most complex and compelling artifacts of 1960s Los Angeles? Would his life and career have played out any differently? Would we think of him today as something other than a cult artist, inspired as well as damned by his era?

It's difficult to imagine any answers to those questions, but it says a lot about Lee that the album even raises these what-ifs and coulda-beens. The very qualities that made him such a fascinating voice-- restlessness, excitability, paranoia, perfectionism, single-mindedness-- may have doomed any commercial prospects more than his notorious fear of travel ever did. After recording Forever Changes, he fired the band and hired new musicians to take their places. Every subsequent album featured a different line-up, although the changes seem based more on personality than on musical direction or ability. Never stagnant, Love was in constant flux, always in a state of development but never quite arriving. So the operative question becomes: Was this the version of Love that Lee had been working toward?

For Black Beauty-- which is finally seeing release via High Moon Records, although the reissue has been delayed for two years-- Lee assembled guitarist Melvan Whittington, bass player Robert Rozelle, and drummer Joe Blocker. This may be the hardiest and most muscular of Love's post-Changes rosters, with remarkable force and range. With crisp production by Paul Rothchild, best known for his work with the Doors, Love build from a potent blues rock foundation not dissimilar to that of Jimi Hendrix, but without the distracting shamanistic persona and guitar pyrotechnics. "Walk Right In" struts into country rock territory, rewriting Cannon's Jug Stompers 1929 hit into a plea for empathy, and "Beep Beep" attempts a sort of pop reggae, albeit not entirely convincingly.

On the whole, this particular line-up sounds perfectly rough and unrehearsed, generating a tense energy on "Skid" and "Stay Away" even as they suggest a band still figuring out exactly what they can do together. It's a strong album, but it's not another Forever Changes, whose accomplishments in retrospect were unrepeatable, or even another Four Sail. On the other hand, Lee wasn't aiming to craft something in that vein. Still, especially considering the professional setbacks he had faced in the years leading up to Black Beauty-- which includes being dropped by Elektra and shuffling through a series of independent labels-- Lee sounds engaged and invigorated, forgoing the bitterness that had rankled the band for a slightly more hopeful outlook. On stand-out "Can't Find It", he sings, "Every time I cry my heart out, and every time I play the fool, but there's gotta be something in this lonely world for me." The confession is all the more bittersweet for being capped with the line, "but I can't find it without you." It's ostensibly a love song, but could just as easily be addressed to his audience. His creative satisfaction relies on having a listener to complete the circuit, which makes this album's long shelf life all the sadder.

    Timeless (Out Of Stock)

Meet the strangest known band from the pre-punk dayze of glam. A sound like no other and a story as out there as the The Monks. We're talking commitment here - spacesuits, Spock ears, even antennae feelers - onstage, on the street, and wherever they made the scene. ZOLAR-X spoke their own language, and insisted they really were from outer space to anyone who could get past their, er, unique hairdos long enough to listen.

Musically it's a mesh of Bowie, Sabbath, Pink Floyd and old Pentagram with amazing vocals and surprisingly stellar production. Both the CD cover and LP jacket are in a space-age metallic silver with full color insides, including the LP insert.
