Loaded: Best of Blake SheltonLoaded: The Best of Blake Shelton, is a solid collection of the country singer's singles, hits, and favorites from his five studio full-lengths, and the two six-track EPs he released in the latter year. Fifteen tracks deep, it begins with the two cuts that put him on contemporary country's radar -- Ol Red and Austin -- from his self-titled debut album in 2001.
The Dreamer, from 2003, is represented by the its two best cuts, The Baby, and the classic Playboys of the Southwestern World. There are three from 2004's Blake Shelton's Bar & Grill, including Shawn Camp's stellar Nobody But Me, and Shelton's reading of the Conway Twitty smash Goodbye Time. Pure BS, from 2007, is showcased by a pair of numbers, including The More I Drink and a third, Home, comes from the deluxe edition of album.
There's a solid version of She Wouldn't Be Gone from 2008's Startin' Fires to round things out. The first 11 tracks were a given, and Shelton's annotations in the booklet make a solid case for their inclusion. That said, Shelton also tacks on the title track from the Hillbilly Bone, Six Pack, as well as Kiss My Country Ass from the same set.
Further, Who Are You When I'm Not Looking and the title track from the second EP are here. All four of these songs were released earlier in the calendar year, making their appearances seem redundant at best and, frankly, like a cynical money grab at worst. Oftentimes, less really is more.LP 1

With The DeadImport
Supergroup is such an erroneous term - images of bored playboys pissing on their legacy spring to mind - but the members of With The Dead have a history of creating criminally good records as long as your arm. They've all served hard time in the subterranean worlds of Doom and the heaviest forms of Metal and have now reconvened to surpass previous projects. They're back - and this time the aim is To maim.
With The Dead were formed by the founding rhythm section of occultist Doom overloads Electric Wizard: guitarist/bassist Tim Bagshaw and drummer Mark Greening, a pair once notorious for the sheer brute heaviness of their bowel-shaking sound and early extra-curricular activities that involved excess, injury and low-level criminality (arrests for the theft of a crucifix from a church roof and drunkenly robbing an off-licence to name but two). Both have also played together in Ramesses.
Completing the triangle is frontman Lee Dorrian, co-founder of Doom pioneers Cathedral, former frontman with grindcore legends Napalm Death and owner of Rise Above Records, the UK's finest independent purveyors of all sounds heavy and underground, whose stable of bands include Ghost, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats, Lucifer, Blood Ceremony and Witchcraft. Having been in business since 1988, Rise Above is also one of the most enduring.
Existing doom-heads will already know that the longstanding relationship between Rise Above and Electric Wizard is one that was fractious and fraught. Much mud has been slung between band, label and former members in recent years, but the With The Dead trio are of the opinion that big words meant little - it's the action that truly counts. And as the fire that is Electric Wizard peters out, With The Dead burn with eyebrow-singeing intensity. With The Dead are heavy. No - scratch that. With The Dead are heavy. H.E.A.V.Y!!! They are a band with teeth and talons.
Like the product of some sort of alchemical alignment or a diabolical modern demon summoned by a whispered incantatory spell, With The Dead formed on All Hallow's Eve 2014. They worked quickly and the result is a six-track, self-titled debut broadside
that draws on the members' rich musical legacy but without ever taking a backward step. Rising like a fecund creature from the fetid bogs of old England, With The Dead is a malevolent beast that lurches and staggers, flattening everything in its path. Guitars moil and curdle, bubbling up through the loam like black tar, while existing fans will surely welcome the return of Dorrian's distinctly hateful vocals.
Any listener will be left battered on the floor, bludgeoned into submission by With The Dead's musical brutality. A new era is upon us.1. Crown of Burning Stars

Goodbye To LovePressed On Translucent Gold Vinyl
A sultry and sophisticated songbird. The ultra-rare debut and sole output of a wondrous and mysterious vocalist, perfectly accompanied by guitar icon Barney Kessel. An Early Stereo marvel from the original 1959 tapes!
Kessel was a jazz pioneer -- as one of the leading lights of the hard-bop movement, his jazz guitar was legendary, and he was ranked the No. 1 guitarist in Down Beat and Playboy for numerous years. He played with Sonny Rollins and Oscar Peterson and Ella Fitzgerald as well as leading his own super-tight group. On albums such as The Poll Winners, Kessel defined the bop style with a jazz power trio, creating a body of work that made him a legend.
Not much is known of Thompson -- even though the record's a long-time crate digger classic, she remains a mystery. But her stunning voice will knock you out -- sounding like the precedent of singers like Karen Carpenter, her no-nonsense, emotion-soaked singing carries marvelously a collection of standards including Stormy Weather and Body And Soul. Kessel's remarkable playing provides a sparkling backing for her vocals. The album has been pressed onto gold vinyl and wrapped in a restored sleeve that captures the beauty of the era.

Live At The Jazz MillPressed On Red Vinyl
Unearthed tape from a jazz icon. Thanks to a 21-year-old with a tape machine, we can all experience the majesty of guitar legend Barney Kessel at his 1954 best!
Even if you don't know Barney Kessel, you know Barney Kessel -- as a first-string member of the group of LA session musicians nicknamed The Wrecking Crew, Kessel's guitar is heard on just about every LA-based hit you'd care to name from the 60s, including songs by the Monkees and The Beach Boys' legendary Smile LP. And that's Kessel's playing on the famous fight music from the Star Trek TV series. He was regarded as the very best of the session guitarists by just about everyone around, and guitarists everywhere site him as an influence.
But before he played rock and roll, Kessel was a jazz pioneer -- as one of the leading lights of the hard-bop movement, his jazz guitar was legendary, and he was ranked the No. 1 guitarist in Down Beat and Playboy for numerous years. He played with Sonny Rollins and Oscar Peterson (and Chico Marx -- yes, that Chico Marx!) as well as leading his own super-tight group. On albums such as The Poll Winners, Kessel defined the bop style with a jazz power trio, creating a body of work that made him a legend.
Live At The Jazz Mill is a unique artifact -- recorded on a tape recorder by young jazz fan Jack Miller, this live recording catches Barney Kessel in the middle of his run at the Jazz Mill with a great four-piece band. The collection, gleaned from a couple of nights' best recordings, features Kessel's spirited take on such Songbook classics as Get Happy and Stardust, not to mention the Gershwin great Embraceable You. It's pressed on red vinyl and wrapped in a sleeve which captures the unique vibe of jazz graphics of the 1950s. Get with Barney Kessel, and get with a true pioneer of the jazz form!1. Global A Go-GoEven when he was leading the Clash, Joe Strummer always incorporated his interest in disparate musical styles into his work. 20 years down the road, he's achieved enough distance from the Clash to express himself fully and freely, so GLOBAL A GO-GO is Strummer's most stylistically diverse offering to date. The album opens with the American folk motifs of Johnny Appleseed before moving on to the churning, funky Cool 'N' Out. The title tune combines hypnotic trip-hop keyboards, reggae guitar, and percolating percussion to celebrate the joys of international communication. Bhindi Bhagee successfully combines electronica beats with Eastern tonalities. Gamma Ray is a surreal Cuban-style slow-burner that recalls the Latin Playboys. Mondo Bongo and Shaktar Donetsk sound like excerpts from a film noir soundtrack set somewhere in Morocco. The album closes with the epic 17-minutes-plus Minstrel Boy, a folkish selection filled with atmospheric fiddle and acoustic guitar, nearly all instrumental. It continues the soundtrack-like feeling achieved by the earlier cuts, and leaves the listener flouting on a cloud of hazy Celtic mist. Throughout the album, Strummer evinces his trademark socio-political awareness in the lyrics, but he sounds much less angry than in punk's glory days. Sometimes maturity can work for you.1. Down Fell The DovesAmanda Shires landed everywhere from NPR's Tiny Desk to the Grand Ole Opry to the cover of Texas Music as their Artist Of The Year in 2011. Now she's back with 'Down Fell The Doves' set for release via Lightning Rod Records. The album's 11 original songs feature Amanda's sharpest writing to date, brought to life by a voice that melts, a fiddle that sears, and guitars - played for the most part by her husband, Jason Isbell - that scrape and howl.
Shires has blossomed into a truly original voice with 'Doves,' which was produced by Andy LeMaster (Bright Eyes, REM) and recorded at his Chase Park Transduction studio in Athens, GA. Bulletproof ponders invincibility with the help of a Siberian tiger claw. Wasted and Rollin' casts a deep, impressionistic fog. For Deep Dark Below Shires' attention shifts to the underworld, where the devil plays fiddle with a bow made of bones. Song for Leonard Cohen has a softer touch, imagining a drunken evening stroll with the master songwriter.
Now based in Nashville, Shires began playing fiddle at age ten in Texas. By 15, she had joined the Texas Playboys, former backing band of western swing pioneer Bob Wills. More recently she has toured and recorded with Snider and Justin Townes Earle who says, With a voice that whispers Dolly and lyrics that scream Faulkner, this girl shines like a diamond.1. A Trip Down The Sunset Strip
Mastered From Viva Records' Original Mono Tapes
Pressed On Heavy-Duty 180-Gram Vinyl
Limited Edition Of 1000 Copies
The Leathercoated Minds' 1967 release A Trip Down the Sunset Strip is a one-of-a-kind artifact of the psychedelic era. Originally conceived as an exploitation item, it nonetheless emerged as an enduring musical statement, thanks to the talents of those involved, particularly then-unknown Oklahoma-bred guitarist J.J. Cale.
As its title suggests, A Trip Down the Sunset Strip was originally concocted by noted pop producer Snuff Garrett (known for his hitmaking '60s work with the likes of Bobby Vee, Cher and Gary Lewis and the Playboys) to tap into the wave of publicity that surrounded the Sunset Strip and the Hollywood club scene at the time. For the project, Garrett assigned Cale to cut a set of instrumental versions of then-recent psychedelic hits, which were augmented with four Cale originals. It totally captures the era's heady sense of excitement and inspiration.
The visionary talents of Cale virtually assured that A Trip Down the Sunset Strip would transcend its humble origins, becoming an increasingly rare collectible as its reputation grew. Now back in its original LP configuration, our release has been mastered from Viva Records' original mono tapes, pressed on heavy-duty 180-gram vinyl and is available in a limited edition of 1000 copies!1. Picture of Heath (Pure Pleasure) (Awaiting Repress)First released under the title "Playboys" in 1956 it was then re-released under the title "Picture Of Heath" in 1961 perhaps owing to the fact it carried the same name as a popular men's magazine.
This was the third session together of the dynamic duo of Chet Baker and Art Pepper the previous two having been unequivocal successes. Baker and Pepper have an instinctual rapport that yields outstanding interplay.
These thoroughly enjoyable and often high-energy sides are perfect for bop connoisseurs as well as mainstream jazz listeners.

About Pure Pleasure
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.
We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.
We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

Tides End"Tides End" is the second Minks album, but you could say it's a world away from the first. Moving out of New York City to try and cure a bout of writer's block, frontman/songwriter Sonny Kilfoyle wound up in the East End of Long Island. Surrounded by water on three sides, it's the same place that drew Warhol, Pollock, de Kooning, Steinbeck and more to escape the constant barrage of information of the urban landscape.
The result is not just a romantic trip into isolation, but a melodic and warm experience to immerse yourself in. It's a pop record, with all the hooks and harmonies you'd expect from that, delivered with experience, depth and hope.
The escapist mentality of the location directly and literally affected "Tides End," as the LP is named for a beachfront estate Sonny had wandered upon one day while out for a drive. Occupied by one family for generations, who after financial decline, are now forced to sell all they own. The experience of seeing old East Coast wealth, surrounded by beautiful Rococo paintings yet no modern appliances was the initial spark to record the LP. Kilfoyle
himself purchased a portrait "Margot," which inspired and named one of the LP's catchiest tracks.Visions of sipping gin and lemonade's on the dunes with their future in peril could be something clearly reflected in the choruses of "Everything's Fine" and "Playboys of the Western World." Themes of affluence, decadence and eventual decay in spite of the outside world are everywhere, even by the skull and shells amidst an explosion of color in the Everest Hall painting that graces the cover. This is "Tides End," indeed.
Armed with a new arsenal of material, Sonny connected with producer and engineer, Mark Verbos, who had moved to New York from Berlin after a prolific career in techno and electronic music. The entire album was recorded at Mark's studio, a former electric room in the base of the Brooklyn side of the Williamsburg Bridge. "It was actually a very uninspiring and uncreative but it forced us to use our imagination and find new ways to work together,"says Kilfoyle. So when they encountered a creative impasse they would consult The KLF's
"manual" or Verbos would choose a card from Brian Eno's "Oblique Strategies." To clear the cobwebs of influence, the producer chose to only allow Sonny to listen to Seal, Simply Red, Enigma, and early Chicago house music during the recording process. This helped build texture and depth in a recording that blended ambiance and immediacy to the established foundation of all the of Minks' previous work.1. Romans

The Poll WinnersTimeless guitar jazz is the theme on The Poll Winners as six-string maestro Barney Kessel's expressive, virtuosic approach takes center stage in this
1957 recording. Joined by bassist Ray Brown and drummer Shelly Manne, Kessel melds effortlessly into the group setting while tastefully affording
himself the freedom to let his solo lines flourish. Brought together by a common thread, Kessel, Brown and Manne actually DID win polls in DownBeat,
Playboy, and Metronome in 1956, which is what brought them together for this classic small-group date, which features nine pieces and 40 minutes of
expressive, modern jazz. A sensitive, engaging listen, The Poll Winners will reward any attentive jazz fan with new revelations upon each repeat listen. A
hallmark of early guitar jazz sessions, this vinyl LP is a welcome addition to casual and serious jazz collectors alike.1. Jordu

One Of These Nights
Certified Multi-Platinum (4 times) by the RIAA. (3/01)
The Eagles exploded on the charts in 1975 with One of These Nights, the first of four straight albums by the band to reach No. 1. The album was their most varied to date, with the discofied title track, the stately waltz Take It To the Limit, and the tough, cynical country rocker Lyin' Eyes. The album contains a couple of unusual numbers as well, including Bernie Leadon's psychedelic banjo showcase Journey of the Sorcerer and I Wish You Peace, which Leadon wrote with his then-girlfriend, future first daughter (by virtue of her parents, Ron and Nancy Reagan) and nude model (courtesy of Playboy), Patti Davis. --Daniel Durchholz1.
