    No Pop

Since their blown-out 2011 debut Hollandaze, Toronto trio Odonis Odonis has continued to push their sound further into the depths of post-apocalyptic experimentation. Following 2016's foreboding Post Plague, No Pop is the band's starker, more dance-floor-friendly fourth LP. Executed with precision, every sonic component of No Pop commands attention. Stripping down instrumentation to a handful of synths and an electronic drum kit, the band worked quickly to write and record, bringing demos and improvised takes into the studio and completing the recording process over the course of three days. The result is a focused blend of hard-hitting industrial, techno, and noise - but each track on No Pop is never just one of those elements.

Pulsing rhythms lay the ground for textural soundscapes masterfully woven together to create a palpable sense of doom that is thick and satisfying. Taking its name from the anti-commercial No Pop movement, which infers that there is no expiration date on music nor is it limited by geographic or regional boundaries, No Pop is raw with emotion that's elevated by deft production. Each hypnotizing meditation captures an uncomfortably honest cynicism with a brush of humor, emphasized by sparse vocals that taunt the current dystopia of technology, human emptiness and the mundane. No Pop is the soundtrack of a sinking ship, and we're all happily aboard to go down with it.

    Membrane Pop

Membrane Pop is the debut Software Recording Co. release by
    experimental duo Sculpture.

The self-described opto-musical agglomerate was born in 2008 after a
chance encounter between British musician Dan Hayhurst and New
Zealand animator Reuben Sutherland. By combining practices, the pair's
rst test splattered a psychedelic palette that pushed them to explore
sensorial intricacies emerging from chance operations.

Raw materials for Sculpture's music include a mix of analog and digital
practices. In Hayhurst and Sutherland's hands, tape manipulation,
samples, found sounds, aleatoric and algorithmic programming and live
improvisation become more complementary than you might imagine.

Sculpture draws from experimentalism to promote new potentials for
pop and electronic music in an age where many of our sci- fantasies
have become mundane occurrences. "I'm aiming to make a coherent,
adventurous electronic pop record with its own voice and identity,"
Hayhurst explains. "I don't think experimental music has to be dark,
difcult or joyless. I try to make something playful, and maybe a little
    absurd."

At the center of Membrane Pop is a phenomenological approach to
sound and performance. "Symbolic Molecule" is a morphing, unsettled
groove, but its addictive properties remain potent. "Polymorphic
Operator" bubbles with a sort of chemical effervescence; the ghost of
Jamaican dub modulating itself into an innite haze. Sculpture's
compositional predilection emerges amidst scrambled sound worlds in
"Hackle Scam Populator", while "Distraction Display" is perhaps the
closest ambient cut on the record.

What makes Sculpture sculptural (we bet the original Abstract
Expressionists would have dug them) are moments where their
craftsmanship feels almost animate within the constraints of musical
time. In the opening seconds of "Lingual Junk", these moments appear
to freeze and unthaw an old recording. As the track narrative unfurls,
you can feel Hayhurst ghting to acclimate the sound from out of
    cryostasis and into his reality.

If a majority of the music you hear today resembles the hard-set stone
carvings of history, then Sculpture's offerings are imagined, transitory
statues with no xed place in time. Hearing Membrane Pop in a different
context, time or place may well bring about a different experience. Or
    perhaps a similar result.

    Pop Crimes

Rowland S. Howard started playing in teenage bands in late
70s Melbourne. Whilst still a callow youth he wrote "Shivers," an
undisputed classic, (quietly ignoring the fact that Rowland perhaps
doesn't see it that way and approaches the song as if it was written
by someone else). The song was recorded by his band The Boys Next
Door who mutated into the Birthday Party and then relocated to
Europe to wage a guerrilla campaign against the trivialities of the
80s, until they turned their fire upon themselves and disintegrated
    mid-decade.

Whilst his former associates have moved on to weekend colour
supplement acceptability, Rowland has commonly been perceived
as the banished wastrel prince... exiled to a squalid garret on the
colder edges of the kingdom, accompanied only by his dreams and
inclinations. His demeanour (pale, gaunt, stick thin, sickly, dark
humoured, fatalistic) has perhaps inadvertently added far too much
credence to this interpretation of events. The shadow of this myth
has seemingly obscured the sheer volume of his creativity and the
    singularity of his musical vision.

Always respected by his peers, a scan through Rowland's
catalogue of work sees him allied with the likes of Lydia Lunch,
Thurston Moore, Wim Wenders, Barry Adamson, The Gun Club, Nikki
Sudden, the Beasts Of Bourbon, the Hungry Ghosts and HTRK.
Rowland's own ensemble These Immortal Souls gun their engines
in the ill-lit background and the legacy of his work with The Birthday
Party scores the skin of successive generations of musicians and
    fans.

But it's a history Rowland would gleefully put a match to. With or
without it Rowland S. Howard would make tense, beautiful music,
would deliver us his personal vision of the world, would create Pop
    Crimes.

Long-time faithful friends Mick Harvey (who played with Rowland
for over 30 years), JP Shilo (Hungry Ghosts) and producer Lindsay
Gravina make for a formidable backline. Out front the guitar playing
couldn't be any one else but Rowland S Howard and his weary,
almost journalistic vocal delivery dispassionately sits amidst the
sweaty panic of the music, adding to the ill ease.

The band lurch in to Pop Crimes as if dragging a rain soaked body
across a muddy field. The ghosts of Lee Hazlewood, Snatch, Sergio
Leone, The Shangri-Las and nameless guys from a never known chain
gang watch on. Within the first few breaths Rowland references
Stalin, Calvary and genocide, whilst razoring guitar lines the current
crop of post-punk revisionists could only fantasize about.

"Shut Me Down" is Rowland at his most romantic, though
inevitably it's shot through with loss and longing. If only Dusty
Springfield were alive to revel in its drama. Talk Talk's 'Life's What
You Make It' is re-imagined as if it had risen from the grind of a
Detroit auto plant's assembly line. '(I Know) A Girl Called Johnny'
sees Jonnine D from HTRK sidle up to the microphone for a duet
that will melt even the coldest of hearts. It's a glorious missing link
between the New York girl group sound and the street smarts of
Suicide. Townes Van Zandt's "Nothin" is given a chilling tenement
building transformation. "Wayward Man" has the band wailing like
alarm sirens before Rowland emerges at his most contemplative
with the gorgeous, fragile build of "Ave Maria." Final track "The
Golden Age Of Bloodshed" takes the album out on a swaggering,
swashbuckling epic, with salvation slipping through the narrator's
    fingers.

Black Grape return with the brand new album 'Pop Voodoo,' which is set for release via MCA Records. The album showcases the band's first new material in 20 years and is sure to reinstate them as one of the most influential bands of all time.

Album opener and tease track 'Everything You Know Is Wrong - Intro' sees the band launching into a statement of intent and the return of Shaun Ryder's lyrical wit, which this time sees him taking sharp aim at Donald Trump. The forthcoming album is a testament to Ryder's reigning social and political commentary.

Ryder and Kermit have teamed up with producer Youth (Martin Glover) on this album, who has previously worked with the likes of The Verve, U2, Primal Scream, Guns N' Roses, Pink Floyd and Depeche Mode to name but a few.

Widely regarded as one of the most innovative and iconic bands of the last twenty years, Black Grape have had 4 Top 10 singles and their debut album, 'It's Great When You're Straight Yeah', shot straight to No.1 in the UK charts upon its release in 1995 and went Platinum.

    Post Pop Depression

A lot of geezers my age don't work out of their comfort zone anymore because once you become legendary you don't want people challenging you." - Iggy Pop

Post Pop Depression is IGGY POP's new, studio album, produced by Joshua Homme (Queens of the Stone Age and Eagles of Death Metal). The 17th Iggy Pop album, and a worthy addition to the 22 album legacy spawned with the immortal trilogy of The Stooges, Fun House and Raw Power, spanning massively influential solo outings including 1977's opening 1-2 combo of The Idiot and Lust For Life, and 1990's gold-certified Brick By Brick.

The first Iggy Pop album co-created with producer Homme, Post Pop Depression began with a succinctly worded text from Iggy to Joshua, and was realized in seclusion with Homme's enlisted aid of his Queens Of The Stone Age bandmate and Dead Weather-man Dean Fertitia and Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders.

Post Pop Depression is a singular work that stands proudly alongside the best works of either of its principles, from The Stooges to Queens Of The Stone Age, bearing its creators' undeniable sonic DNA while sounding like nothing they've done before. It's a record that wouldn't exist without either Pop or Homme-and one that probably shouldn't in theory if you really think about it-but it does, and we and rock n roll are all the better for it.

Miami Pop Festival by the Jimi Hendrix Experience is the first-ever release of one of the guitar virtuoso's most sought-after performances, as originally recorded on site by Hendrix's long term sound engineer, Eddie Kramer. The live recording introduces the first recorded stage performances of Hear My Train A Comin' and Tax Free while showcasing definitive live takes on such classics as Fire, Hey Joe, I Don't Live Today and Purple Haze.

The first ever major rock festival staged on the East Coast, the May 1968 Miami Pop Festival was the first event promoted by Michael Lang--who would organize Woodstock, the biggest pop culture event of the decade, fifteen months later--and Ric O'Barry, who had been the dolphin trainer for the popular television program Flipper. Lang and O'Barry had been inspired by the June 1967 Monterey Pop Festival, the groundbreaking gathering where Jimi Hendrix, making his US debut, famously set fire to his guitar at the conclusion of his performance. Lang staged the festival at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale, Florida, securing the Jimi Hendrix Experience as the headline act for the two-day festival.

This lavish double LP package includes an 8-page booklet containing never before published photos taken at the festival and an essay by award-winning music journalist and Grammy Museum Executive Director Bob Santelli.

    12 Maxi-Single Reissue

Featuring Pop Life (Fresh Dance Mix) And Hello (12 Extended Remix Version)

Pop Life is a 1985 song by Prince and The Revolution. It was the second US (and final UK) single from their 1985 album, Around the World in a Day, reaching number 7 in the US charts. The song starts with a faded-in synth line and quickly starts the main tune. The easy groove is achieved with a smooth bass guitar and piano embellishments. A drum machine provides handclaps to make the song danceable. Pop Life was recorded before Purple Rain was completed, indicating the new direction Prince wanted to take after the success of that album and film.

The B-side of the track is Hello, written quickly as a response to those who criticized Prince's lack of participation in the We Are the World event. The angry lyrics lambaste the prying media and false friendships, and is driven by a pulsing beat. The extended version of the song ends with a spoken word by Prince, which contain some self-humor about his high-heeled shoes.

The Shape of Brat Pop to Come

Their debut album features single Running Behind, featured in the 2015 Apple Watch commercial. HOLYCHILD is comprised of Liz Nistico and Louie Diller. They met in college in 2011, have been writing music ever since and call their genre, brat pop. This album takes on nothing less than the idea of power dynamics and inequality-be it racial, social status, or gender-motivated. The beats are wild and the tongues are placed firmly in cheek.

Brand New Compilation, Vinyl Only Release!

Californian Pop Rock group Venice started in the town by the same name in 1977 by cousins Michael and Kipp Lennon. Members of Venice have performed alongside, or recorded with the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Phil Collins, Sting, Melissa Etheridge, Cher, Ozzy Osbourne, Jackson Browne, David Crosby, Stevie Nicks, Billy Idol, and the list goes on and on.

To date, Venice has found their biggest success in The Netherlands. In 2003, the band won an Edison Award (the Dutch version of the Grammy) for Best International Artist, beating out superstars U2 and Coldplay. In The Netherlands Venice's singles are a mainstay on radio, their tours sell out consistently, and they've been guests on countless television programs.

Venetian Vinyl is a brand new vinyl-only Best Of compilation of this long standing band. As the band themselves put it: ''The band sat together for days, choosing our favorite acoustic based tracks from previous albums...then we sequenced them in an order that we think really flows...giving you a compilation album you can put on, then kick back on the couch, kick your shoes off, grab your favorite beverage and relax while we massage your ear drums with what we feel is the best of our vocal harmonies and vibey tracks we've created to date.'' Box Set Features 7x Albums Across 10x 180-Gram Vinyl

Includes The First Vinyl Pressing Of Live From The Royal Albert Hall, Recorded Live At The Historic Venue In July Of 2009 As A Box Set Exclusive

Includes A Slip Mat Featuring The "K" From The Band's Logo And Inspired By The Vintage Lights Of The Las Vegas Strip

No other band has soundtracked the 2000s more than Vegas rockers The Killers and now their nearly 15 years-long discography will be celebrated in one place with a seven-volume Killers Career Vinyl Box through Island/UMe.

The career-spanning collection will be available on 180-gram black vinyl and include a slip mat featuring the "K" from the band's logo and inspired by the vintage lights of the Las Vegas Strip

This career retrospective vinyl box marks the first time that all seven of the band's albums have been collected in one complete box set including: Hot Fuss, Sam's Town, Sawdust, Day & Age, Battle Born, Wonderful Wonderful and for the first time on vinyl, Live From The Royal Albert Hall.

Originally released in November 2009 as a live DVD, this double live album captures the kinetic energy of their historic lives shows at the Royal Hall in 2009 and is now available as a double LP and is exclusive to the Career Vinyl Box. It also includes their mid-career compilation album, Sawdust, which contains B-sides, covers and remixes, as well as an outtake from Sam's Town, and 'Tranquilize', featuring a guest appearance by Lou Reed.

As arguably the biggest indie-pop stars on the planet, their indie days are well behind them, selling out stadiums and playing tributes at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And yet it seems just like yesterday that every 20-something in skinny jeans was blaring the indie disco staple 'Mr Brightside' from The Killers' three-times-platinum 2004 debut album, Hot Fuss. Even 14 years later, the band's most enduring single remains firmly in the charts, having just its 200th week in the Billboard top 100.

After Hot Fuss ushered in their signature post-New Wave sound with massive hooks, they continued on their course of amassing hit after hit of transcendent anthems from 'All These Things That I've Done' and to the Springsteen-eque singalong 'When You Were Young' off their sophomore album Sam's Town.

With his stylish swagger and crooning tenor, frontman Brandon Flowers could turn his sardonic streak on songs like "Smile Like You Mean It," and 'Somebody Told Me' into chart gold. With each album, the group flexed their versatility, from the garage rock-pop of Hot Fuss to electro-clash energy of Day & Age to the stadium rocker of Battle Born and most recently 2017's funk-infused Wonderful Wonderful, which snagged the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200.

Passion For Vinyl Part II: An Ode To Analog (Book)

252-Page Book With 7 Vinyl Single

Includes a Limited Edition White Vinyl 7 Single Feat. Hasil Adkins, Bloodshot Bill And Ellen Allien

Record stores are popping up again everywhere. New vinyl pressing plants are opening in America, Europe and Asia. Young vinyl enthusiasts - both male and female! - are swarming to record fairs looking for old and new records to build their collection. When Passion for Vinyl Part 1 came out, there was still some doubt about the comeback of vinyl. Wasn't it all just a hype? Now, five years later, even the biggest sceptic can't deny it: vinyl is back and it's here to stay!

In light of all these new and exciting developments, a follow-up to the successful and well-received first volume of the Passion for Vinyl book (four stars in Record Collector magazine) is more than viable. DJs, musicians, engineers, designers, shop managers, record label CEOs and collectors like Dischord's Ian MacKaye, Norton's Miriam Linna, singer-songwriter Ryley Walker, musician and producer T Bone Burnett, Abbey Road's half-speed maestro Miles Showell, DJs Sven VÄth and Ellen Allien, designer John Kosh and many others tell about the records that changed their lives, their love for vinyl and the impact its resurgence has had on them. Passion for Vinyl Part 2 also shows how analogue recording techniques are making a comeback in the recording and mastering studios.

In the last few years, countless music lovers have (re)discovered that nothing beats listening to a vinyl record on a proper stereo set. It makes the listener connect with the music like nothing else.

This book is a tribute to that unique experience.

Passion for Vinyl Part. 2 is written by Dutch author, music journalist and vinyl fanatic Robert Haagsma. With an introduction by Michael Kurtz, co-founder of Record Store Day.

Introducing An Affordable Solution For Maintaining And Restoring Your Vinyl Collection

No matter how you store and use your records they inevitably will require maintenance. When playing records, dust particles and contaminants always build up on the stylus as the tone arm moves across the record. This accumulation on the needle also "dulls" the sound.

The emergence of the dreaded "audible pops" and "crackle sounds" heard are caused by dirt, grime and particles lodged in the record grooves themselves being hit by the needle, as well as static discharges, all amplified by the cartridge. All are annoying.

Even new and latest pressings are subject to the same conditions as your old collection. Their release agents are found on the record from the pressing process and must be removed prior to use, otherwise they attract at an alarming rate dust and other airborne contaminants.

Therefore, recommended is the continual maintenance and care of your records by way of regular cleanings which in turn reduces these unwanted pops and augments therefore one's listening pleasure and audition. Cleaning WILL NOT remove unwanted sounds caused by scratches on the record surface and depending on the age and condition of the record, even repeated cleanings may or may not restore the record to like new condition, but reduces the overall undesirable effect previously described.

Everyone's an expert! There is much nonsense published regarding the cleaning of records. Soaps, chemical mixes and brews, and especially the use of large portions of alcohol etc., these all affect the record negatively either during or after cleaning. Air drying of chemicals that are not physically removed further creates issues that are cumulative over time. Indeed, to the rescue, ultrasonic cleaners have been around for decades and its use and attributes are well known and while care must also be taken as to the introduction of chemicals in the ultrasonic bath, this cleaning technology is a very valuable tool to use. We differ in how we handle the record itself. Nonsense though, are some of the extravagant prices on cleaning machines available as all ultrasonics operate the same way. >>Many add 2.5 L of alcohol to 6 L of water, dangerous!<<<

The KirmussAudio Model KA-RC-1 revolutionizes the way we clean records. First and foremost: a Patented record suspension system assures where records of any speed and size see their grooves cleaned safely. No damage to the record by mechanical intrusion of skewers and the like.

Secondly, only distilled water with a maximum of 45 mL ( 1.5 oz) of ISA 71% solution constitutes the bath and where applied to the record in its second cycle is an anti-bacterial surfactant, pre and post wash neutral liquid agent is used. Ultrasonics need a surfactant to aid in the cavitation of the water solution to better clean and remove contaminants.

Third: affordability. At a price of $845, everyone can enjoy their collection and restore and maintain it.

The Team: After 3 years of extensive research and trials audiophile and business owner Charles Kirmuss and recognized turntable restoration expert Dr. Eric Watson developed an affordable, simple to use system. With cUl and UL/CE Electrical and Safety Approvals our affordable system will increase your listening pleasure by removing most of those annoying unwanted pops and crackling sounds from both new and old records. This is not some home-made product. With Patents both issued and pending, ware also sure that You will be very pleased with the results and benefit from many years of satisfaction with our revolutionary ultrasonic based cleaner.

    Titan: It's All Pop!

From 1978-1981 the Titan label issued only eight records, but over the years their tiny catalog has crawled to the top of power-pop want lists worldwide and appeared on scads of bootleg cassettes, building a legacy to rival L.A.s Bomp or New Yorks Ork. Located in fly-over country, Titan was forced to start their own scene, import their own skinny ties, and scour Missouri for their own talent.

Their midwest AM bubblegum roots are apparent in the likes of Gary Charlson, the Secrets*, Arlis!, Gems, Millionaire At Midnight, the Boys, J.P. McClain & the Intruders, Bobby Sky, and Scott McCarl, but Titan was clearly influenced by the glam-punk spit being hocked from the 100 Club stage.

30 years since they meekly flopped out their first 7 single, Kansas Citys Titan Records finally returns to record bins everywhere with the 4-LP retrospective, Titan: It's All Pop!
