SignifyPorcupine Tree started out as an in-joke between Steven Wilson and a friend (early recordings were purportedly the back catalog of a fictional seventies supergroup The Porcupine Tree, that Wilson created). Over 20 years later the group is selling out arenas across the world.
1996's Signify, their first complete album recorded as a full band, fuses numerous rock and avant-garde styles with the ability to absorb many influences, but rely on none.
The album is regarded by the band (and many fans) as one of their finest works, establishing them as a highly respected force in the emerging musical underground.LP 1

LizardDGM & Panegyric are proud to present the third in a series of King Crimson high quality vinyl reissues with the September release of "Lizard". The album's return to the 12" vinyl format is newly cut from masters approved by Robert Fripp. Manufactured on 200 gram super-heavyweight vinyl & housed in a reprint of the original beautiful gatefold sleeve, this edition also contains bonus MP3 codes giving access to a download of a transfer of an original 1970 pressing.
"Lizard" - King Crimson's third studio album & second recording of 1970, was, like its predecessor "In the Wake of Poseidon", the product of a studio band. It was also the first Crimson album for which Robert Fripp provided all of the music. Remarkably self-contained & sounding somewhat atypical for a King Crimson album - even by the standards of a band that rarely sounded similar from album to album, "Lizard" is an often overlooked & under-appreciated gem from their early years. Certainly at the time of release, anyone expecting an extension of the soundscapes introduced & explored on the band's earlier two albums was in for a surprise.
"Lizard" featured a lighter, more delicate sound than the earlier albums - an approach perhaps necessitated by an extended instrumental lineup. The expanded range of instruments allowed for intricately interwoven instrumental passages - with Fripp's guitar & Tippett's piano pleasingly to the fore - and this combination, along with the prominence afforded to Mel Collins & the guest players on the album's main title suite, led some to believe that Fripp was guiding Crimson towards the world of jazz & away from rock altogether. But such claims were misguided. Crimson was, as ever, seeking to expand the vocabulary of rock music & "Lizard" was, in some ways, the band's most ambitious album to date.
As this lineup never toured, very little of the material was performed live & "Lizard" remained a product of the studio environment & the musicians who performed on it. "Lizard" remains a fascinating, intriguing album - an album only a band called King Crimson could make - even if it was a very different King Crimson to that which had gone before or would come after. The album's reputation has undergone a serious re-evaluation in recent years, due in no small part to the overwhelmingly positive nature of the reception given to Steven Wilson & Robert Fripp's 2009 CD/DVD-A edition. As a result the album has never been as popular in its 42 years' history.1. Cirkus (Including: Entry Of The Chameleons)

Voyage 34Remastered By Steven Wilson
The album originates from a single track, titled Voyage 34, which was to be part of the Porcupine Tree's second studio album, Up the Downstair. Originally a 30-minute track intended to be the second disc of a double album, Wilson eventually decided to release Voyage 34 independently of the rest of the album.
Instead, it was released in two parts, as singles, as Voyage 34 (Phase 1) and Voyage 34 (Phase 2) in 1992. In 1993, Voyage 34: Remixes was released, containing two remixes of the originals. Voyage 34 (Phase 3) was a remix by the British electronic music group Astralasia, while Voyage 34 (Phase 4) was a remix by Wilson himself, along with future band member Richard Barbieri. A voice sample of Dead Can Dance's song As the Bell Rings the Maypole Spins is repeated throughout all four tracks.LP 1

Aqualung (Steven Wilson Mix)Gatefold LP featuring 24 page adapted booklet from the previous 2011 40th anniversary set.
After veering sharply from the blues inluences of their debut, This Was, Jethro Tull's sound quickly coalesced around jazz-tinged English folk influences and the antics of frontman/flautist Ian Anderson. But it was guitarist Martin Barre's swaggering riff off the title track of the band's fourth album that would become Tull's trademark--and the band's entrÉe into a long reign as arena-rock perennials. But there's a lot more to Aqualung than the riffage of that cut and its cousins, Cross-Eyed Mary and Locomotive Breath. In an era when pseudo-Christian spirituality was a de rigueur, if cheap, musical commodity (from the overblown operatics of Jesus Christ Superstar to one-hit pop wonders such as Spirit in the Sky and Put Your Hand in the Hand), Anderson and company openly challenged the value of organized religion with a thematic album savvy enough to layer its thought-provoking lyrics between heavy strata of FM-friendly guitar bedrock. A clichÉ, perhaps; a landmark, no doubt. And a record many maintain is still Tull's finest hour. --Jerry McCulley1. Aqualung

We're Here Because We're HereAlbum mixed by Steven Wilson
We're Here Because We're Here is the eighth studio album by British band Anathema, released on 31 May 2010. The working title of the album was Horizons. The album was mixed by Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree.
Ville Valo of the band HIM recorded vocals for the song Angels Walk Among Us. The title of the album is taken from a song of the same name that was sung in the Allied trenches of World War I to the tune of Auld Lang Syne.
It is the last album to feature keyboarist Les Smith.
Response from the critics was generally positive. The album was proclaimed Prog Album of the Year by Classic Rock magazine, describing it as a flawless, life-affirming comeback and a gold-plated contender for album of the year.LP1

On The Sunday Of LifeRemastered By Steven Wilson
Porcupine Tree's 1991 debut album is an album that stands up as a modern day pop-psych classic.
With acid warped lyrics courtesy of Alan Duffy (the brains behind the late lamented Imaginary Records
label) the album is a surreal delight containing gems such as "Jupiter Island" and "Linton Samuel
Dawson" filled with quirky melodies, effected vocals and trippy backwards guitar work. "Nine Cats",
the undoubted masterpiece of the album, is pure Edward Lear styled psychedelia.
'On The Sunday Of Life' also hints at the direction the band would later take with more progressive
influenced material such as the epic 'Radioactive Toy' still performed live today.LP 1

Storm CorrosionStorm Corrosion is the long-discussed and highly anticipated collaboration between two of the modern progressive rock scene's most innovative and multi-talented artists: Porcupine Tree's Steven Wilson and Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth. The pair will release their self-titled debut album via Roadrunner Records.
The sound of Storm Corrosion can best be described as enchanting, orchestral, ambient, epic (half the album's tracks clock in around the 10-minute mark) and nothing short of surprising to the new ear. However, the musicians' respective fanbases will be primed to appreciate the new output, with Wilson's recent solo album, Grace for Drowning, and Opeth's Heritage having brought them to a logical place to understand Storm Corrosion. This eponymous collection is almost viewed as one side of a musical triangle.
Says Wilson, "If you'd asked me three months ago about the music, I would have said, 'Expect the last thing you would expect.' But actually, now that Heritage and Grace for Drowning have come out, I don't think it's going to be that much of a shock to people, because it's almost like a third part of the trilogy, in a way. If anything, it's even more orchestral, even more stripped down, even more dark, twisted and melancholic, but it certainly feels like it comes from the same place as Heritage and Grace for Drowning, which indeed it does because it was written during the same period."
"Some of the music on this record I think is the most beautiful music I have participated in ever," adds Åkerfeldt. "There's some magical sections on there. Musically I think we've created something earthy, a bit frightening, exhausting, profound and rather intense. All at the same time. I can safely say I don't know any other band or artist that sounds anything like Storm Corrosion. I guess that was also one of our goals, so to speak."1. Drag Ropes

4 1/2Four-time Grammy nominee, multi-instrumentalist and producer, Steven Wilson follows up on his acclaimed Hand. Cannot. Erase. with the new interim album 4 ½, so titled because it forms an interim release between Steven's recently released fourth album Hand. Cannot. Erase. and the next studio album.
4 ½ comprises 6 tracks with a total running time of 37 minutes. 4 of the songs originated during the sessions for Hand. Cannot. Erase., and one from the recording sessions for the previous album The Raven that Refused to Sing. The final track is a version of Don't Hate Me, a song originally recorded by Porcupine Tree in 1998, and is based on a live recording made on the recent tour of Europe with additional recording later done in the studio. The vocals on this new version are sung as a duet between Steven and Ninet Tayeb.
Also appearing on the album are members of Steven's band over the last few years; Adam Holzman, Nick Beggs, Guthrie Govan, Dave Kilminster, Craig Blundell, Marco Minnemann, Chad Wackerman, and Theo Travis.

Pale CommunionPALE COMMUNION, which was produced by the band's very own Mikael Åkerfeldt and mixed by longtime collaborator and Porcupine Tree frontman/guitarist Steven Wilson, is heralded by the lead single, "Cusp of Eternity."
The new material find's Opeth once again challenging the boundaries of extreme music. In a recent interview with VICE's Noisey, Akerfeldt stated, "I wanted to do something more melodic with this album there's stronger vocal melodies and more melodies overall I was pretty consistent with that frame of mind throughout the writing process." Recently, Metal Injection's Greg Kennelty broke down Opeth's PALE COMMUNION in a track by track review, exclaiming "This record knows exactly what it's doing and nails it through and through one of my favorite records of 2014. If not my favorite record of 2014."
PALE COMMUNION follows 2011's critically acclaimed HERITAGE which proved a milestone album for Opeth, earning them widespread acclaim and an ever-growing fan following. Debuting Top 20 on the Billboard 200 and racking up numerous 'Best Of' accolades in 2011, HERITAGE landed at #2 on both Decibel's "Top 40 Albums of 2011" and Guitar World's "Top 50 Albums of 2011" lists.LP 1

Glowing MouthNew York was wearing on Kyle Wilson, lead singer & songwriter for the Brooklyn-based quintet Milagres. So he took off, away from the city and his band and his issues all the way to the coldest, most remote part of British Columbia where he could get some space and breathe. Upon his return to NYC, Wilson drafted Fraser McCulloch (bass, backing vocals, keys) into his new vision of Milagres, sharing with him the arrangements that he dreamt of while recovering from his injury sustained while in British Columbia. These demos were then refined with the addition of Eric Schwortz (guitar, backing vocals, percussion), Chris Brazee (piano/keys) and Steven Leventhal (drums, percussion), evolving into what would become the new group's first LP, Glowing Mouth.
The musical scope of the album is big and due to the piano-based melodies and soaring falsettos, early press has compared the band to artists as diverse as Grizzly Bear and Prince, demonstrating the wide breadth of Milagres material. The first single, Glowing Mouth, is a slow-burner made for dancing close on a hot summer night, whereas Here To Stay has a keyboard hook that won't let you sleep. Kyle Wilson has a knack for writing dreamy story songs that also pack a punch in both chorus and melody. WarChildOriginally released in 1974, Warchild represented a radical departure from the previous year's A Passion Play. Developing out of an ambitious project involving a film, a soundtrack and conventional album, eventually only the latter appeared.
In 1974, Jethro Tull announced plans for Warchild, a multi-faceted project that was to encompass a feature-length film, a soundtrack album, as well a new album from the band. In October of that year, Tull released a 10-song album that would climb to #2 in the U.S. and the top 15 in the U.K., but the film and accompanying soundtrack were shelved.
Warchild features one of the group's most stable lineups and includes Ian Anderson, Martin Barre, John Evans, Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond and Barrie Barlow. Unlike its predecessors - Thick As A Brick and A Passion Play - which featured 40-odd minutes of continuous music, WarChild marked a return to songs of a more conventional length, including the FM-radio staple, Bungle In The Jungle. \

Arms & HandsCornetist and composer Kirk Knuffke is one of modern jazz's most skilled navigators of the divide between inside and outside, freedom and swing. On his latest album, Arms & Hands, he assembles the ideal trio to bridge that divide. Joined by bassist Mark Helias and drummer Bill Goodwin, along with special guests Brian Drye (trombone), Daniel Carter (alto saxophone), and Jeff Lederer (soprano/tenor saxophone), Knuffke creates a set of music that is both engaging and inventive.
Helias is best known for his work with jazz experimentalists like Anthony Braxton, Cecil Taylor, Marilyn Crispell, and Gerry Hemingway, his band BassDrumBone with Hemingway and Ray Anderson, and his trio Open Loose with Tony Malaby and Tom Rainey. Goodwin, on the other hand, is recognized as a premiere straight-ahead drummer, through his decades-long relationship with saxophonist Phil Woods and credits that include such giants as Bill Evans, Tony Bennett, Dexter Gordon, Jim Hall, Gary Burton, and Art Pepper.
The chemistry between the trio is irrefutable on Arms & Hands, which is a showcase for the immense creativity of all three musicians. Knuffke intentionally wrote compositions that took advantage of Goodwin's gift for groove and swing while remaining open enough to allow the improvisations to wander however far afield the moment might call for.
Kirk Knuffke is a prolific composer and improviser who has worked with a host of incredible musicians including Roswell Rudd, William Parker, Uri Caine, Myra Melford, Allison Miller, Steve Swell, John Zorn, Dave Douglas, Billy Hart, Steven Bernstein, and Mary Halvorson. Internationally, he has played with ensembles at jazz festivals in Saalfeldan Austria, Willisau Switzerland, The North Sea Jazz festival in Holland, The Moers festival as well as festival dates in Canada, Mexico, Italy and France. He is currently a member of the Matt Wilson Quartet. Knuffke is also a member of the Mark Helias Quartet, the Andrew D'angelo Big Band, Josh Roseman's Extended Constellations, Kenny Wollesen's Wollesonic and Allison Miller's Boom tic Boom. Knuffke's leader debut, Big Wig, was released by Clean Feed in 2008, followed by the trio recordings Chew Your Food and Amnesia Brown and the quartet album Chorale. He has also recorded several duo CDs with pianist Jesse Stacken and one with percussionist Mike Pride, and co-led the collaborative trio Sifter with Mary Halvorson and Matt Wilson and a quartet with saxophonist Ted Brown.1.
