The starter turntable of choice for audiophiles the world over!

The new Essential III builds on the successes of the Essential II. The Essential II is a fabulous sounding turntable. It's the least expensive turntable on the market that includes both a high precision main bearing and a solid, adjustable tonearm that's based on the award winning Debut design. It's become the starter turntable of choice for audiophiles the world over.

The new Essential III adds some nice upgrades compared to the Essential II. Cosmetically, the Essential III takes a cue from the award winning Debut Carbon DC, with a lustrous high-gloss finish that's available in Black, Red, or White. The platter also gets an upgrade: it's constructed of a dense MDF for minimal resonance and finished in a high-gloss piano black. The visual effect is striking, especially on the Red and White tables where the high-gloss platter contrasts nicely with the plinth. It looks really spectacular if you display it with some fun colored vinyl to accentuate the colors! The adjustable 8.6" one-piece aluminum tonearm is significantly more sophisticated than anything close to its price range, and utilizes sapphire bearings for minimal friction and many years of reliable performance. The Essential III also includes a factory mounted/aligned Ortofon OM10 cartridge. You won't find a better performing, better matched cartridge/tonearm combination in this price range.

The main platter bearing is precision machined high grade stainless steel and the drive pulley is crafted from aluminum. A new DC motor speed controller board regulates the platter speed and the Essential III now includes Connect it E interconnect hardwired directly to the output.

*Not compatible with Speed Box S or Speed Box DS.

Pro-Ject Audio Systems have teamed up with the estate of legendary musician George Harrison to produce a special turntable, coinciding with the release of George Harrison - The Vinyl Collection LP box-set from USM.

The limited edition Pro-Ject George Harrison record player boasts an entirely unique appearance created by design specialists, Studio Number One. Studio Number One was founded by Shepard Fairey, and the Pro-Ject George Harrison record player makes use of an image taken from the world-famous artist's work.

The turntable itself is based on Pro-Ject Audio Systems' coveted Essential III design with an Acryl-IT E platter. The Essential III benefits from a sturdy MDF plinth mounted on anti-vibration feet. Supplied with an acrylic platter, high-quality tonearm and Ortofon OM 10 cartridge, the sound performance puts the turntable in a class of its own when compared to rival products.

    Pro-Ject Speed Box S2

Have a question about this product? Please email our audio advisor or call 1-877-929-8729 with any questions or concerns regarding your equipment purchase.

The new Pro-Ject Speed Box S2 speed controller replaces the old and famous Speed Box S. It nevertheless has the same functions and performances. It is made for entry level turntables and midrange turntables that have a 16V AC synchronous motor.

It comes in a non magnetic anodized aluminium casing. The front panel is also in aluminium. It has a pulse switch which enables you to choose the speed (33 RPM or 45 RPM) as well as two LEDs which correspond to the speed selection.

Its primary function is to enable (by change in frequency) to change the speed of the motor and, in consequence, go from 33 RPM to 45 RPM without having to manually change the belt from one pulley to another (when you do not need to raise the platter!). This is very practical for those who have a collection of singles! However, the Pro-Ject Speed Box S2 speed controller has another function. It has a quartz and microprocessor control that ensure a formidable stability of the rotation of the motor. Its precision of 0,001% translates to a speed stability multiplied by 5. It is important to take into account that it is possible to obtain a rotation at 78 RPM by adapting a specific pulley and by selecting 45 RPM.

It is powered by an external power supply in direct current (DC) of 18 V. We connected it to a Pro-Ject 1-Xpression III turntable and a 2nd generation Pro-Ject 2-Xperience turntable. The results were very convincing. The gain in musicality obtained is undebatable and its user-friendliness make it necessary!

It is advised to use the Pro-Ject Speed Box S2 speed controller with Pro-Ject turntables (Debut 3, Essential 1, Genie 1.3, XPression 1, II and III, RPM 4 et RPM 5, Xperience) and Music Hall turntables (Music Hall 2.2, Music Hall 5.1, Music Hall 7.1 ).

CAUTION: the speed box 1,2, and S are not compatible with DC motors: Debut Carbon, Debut Carbon Esprit, Debut Carbon USB, 1Xpression carbon, RPM1 Carbon, RPM3 Carbon, 2Xperience DC, 6Perspex Acryl DC, etc.

Includes Original Artwork/Illustrations By Brilliant Visual Artist Aaron Horkey

As Rhymesayers was transitioning from a local Twin Cities crew, who were known for
explosive and engaging live shows at coffee shops, raves, and venues around town, into
a full-fledged independent label, some of the most integral players in the crew decided to
form a supergroup, and thus began the legend of The Dynospectrum.

The group's formula was largely centered on the four MCs, Slug of Atmosphere, I Self
Devine of The Micranots, Beyond (better known as Musab), and Mr. Gene Poole of Phull
Surkle. Each of them had already made a notable impression on the Twin Cities scene,
so the idea of them coming together was easy to view as a force to be reckoned with.
However, an essential element of The Dynospectrum was its production, as Ant (of
Atmosphere) was digging deep into his explorations of painting sound with dark and
moody strokes. Yet another signature aspect to this album was its iconic artwork,
provided courtesy of the Headshots resident artist, Aaron "Abuse" Horkey, who has also
provided some new work for this special vinyl edition. Horkey's uniquely exquisite graffiti
stylings give the album a comic book-like essence while maintaining an air of elegance
and fine art. Lastly, in order to take all this creative energy and shape it into something
real, label CEO, Siddiq Sayers, acted as the sound engineer at the time for the newly
formed Rhymesayers studios, and took the lead on distribution and management for the
    project.

All of this resulted in The Dynospectrum being a landmark release in the Rhymesayers
catalog, regarded to this day as a cult classic, which makes it long overdue that we finally
get to see this full release available on vinyl for the very first time. This upcoming special
vinyl edition, just like our recent Overcast! 20th Anniversary vinyl release, has been
completely re-mixed from the original reel-to-reel tapes and remastered, complete with
bonus unreleased material from those same recording sessions. All the original music
and lyrics have been left completely intact, only enhancing the listening experience, so
that this breakthrough album sounds better than ever!

    Room 29

Compelling new Deutsche Grammophon album Room 29, a unique collaboration between Jarvis Cocker and Chilly Gonzales, asks what the ghosts of Hollywood's golden age can tell us about how we came to be where we are today.

Standing at the west end of Hollywood's Sunset Boulevard, the Chateau Marmont hotel has seen many a famous and infamous guest pass through its doors since it opened in 1929. A 2012 stay in one of its second-floor rooms inspired British lyricist and singer Jarvis Cocker to look into its history and led to this collaborative project with multi-faceted Canadian pianist and composer Chilly Gonzales. Room 29, a 21st-century song cycle, is set for release on Deutsche Grammophon Gonzales' score and Cocker's lyrics conjure up the lives of some of Room 29's previous occupants, as well as shining a light on the glittering fantasy and often bleak reality of Hollywood.

"If you must get in trouble, do it at the Chateau Marmont," noted Harry Cohn, founder of Columbia Pictures, in 1939. Jarvis Cocker was intrigued by the hotel's links to the history of the film industry. He found the key to creativity in the fact that Room 29 contained a baby-grand piano. What if it could "sing" of the life stories and events it had witnessed? The idea also ignited Chilly Gonzales's imagination, and both artists embarked on a three-year journey of artistic discovery, unearthing details about guests such as Jean Harlow, Mark Twain's daughter Clara, and Los Angeles mobster Meyer Cohen, alias "Mickey the Haberdasher". As well as dramatizing some of those stories, their songs capture both the essential loneliness of the hotel room and the ways in which moving images have "moved" people in ways they don't quite understand. Gonzales and Cocker have drawn on the 19th-century model of the song cycle for a structure capable of containing the broad sweep of emotions and states of mind elicited by the real and imaginary dramas of one unusual hotel suite. Room 29 emerges as the metaphor for a place within each of us, home to our deepest desires and fantasies.

Since moving to Germany in the late 1990s, Chilly Gonzales has pursued a breathtaking range of musical projects, spanning everything from rap and experimental rock to hip hop and Satie-inspired minimalism. The classically trained pianist collaborated with the Kaiser Quartett on his last solo album, Chambers, attracting critical acclaim to its neo-Romantic reflections on chamber music in the age of pop. The Hamburg-based string quartet plays a prominent part in Room 29, providing a sonorous tonal complement to Gonzales' piano writing and accompanying Jarvis Cocker's vocals. Lead singer and primary lyricist of Pulp for over 30 years, on and off, Cocker has also released two solo albums, and developed a successful broadcasting career, presenting both Jarvis Cocker's Sunday Service on BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Radio 4's Wireless Nights.

LPs Cut from the Original Masters at Sterling Sound by Iconic Engineer George Marino

58-Track Behemoth Includes 45 Previously Unreleased Hendrix Studio and Live Recordings

Hendrix's Journey Traced in Music: From Little-Known R&B Sideman to Rock Superstar

Ultimate Hendrix Set is the Jewel of Legacy's Catalog Restoration Project

The wave of newly re-mastered, all-analog Jimi Hendrix titles culminates in the long awaited release of West Coast Seattle Boy: The Jimi Hendrix Anthology. This definitive career-spanning 8-LP Box Set tracks Hendrixs remarkable journey from R&B sideman to international guitar hero. The deluxe set is filled with previously unreleased Jimi Hendrix Experience recordings plus demos, alternate takes, and more. This newly assembled Jimi Hendrix anthology also includes a new Hendrix documentary DVD, directed by the Grammy award-winning Bob Smeaton (Beatles Anthology, Festival Express, and Beatles: The Studio Recordings). The LPs have been cut from the original masters at Sterling Sound in Manhattan by iconic engineer George Marino.

This long-awaited career-spanning box set tracks Hendrix's remarkable journey from little known R&B sideman to international stardom through an unprecedented assemblage of previously unavailable recordings. West Coast Seattle Boy - The Jimi Hendrix Anthology is not a collection of existing Hendrix albums but instead 45 unreleased Hendrix live and studio recordings including demos and alternate versions of songs from Are You Experienced, Axis: Bold As Love, and Electric Ladyland.

West Coast Seattle Boy includes Hendrixs never before heard version of Bob Dylans 'Tears Of Rage, solo acoustic recordings of Electric Ladyland favorites like Long Hot Summer Night and 1983 (A Merman I Shall Turn To Be) as well as never before heard live performances from Berkeley and the legendary Band Of Gypsys Fillmore East concert on New Year's Eve 1969 combined together with such new Hendrix songs as Hear My Freedom, Hound Dog Blues, Lonely Avenue and more.

A centerpiece achievement in Legacy Recordings' monumental Jimi Hendrix catalog project, West Coast Seattle Boy - The Jimi Hendrix Anthology is the first Hendrix collection to bring fans access to a comprehensive treasure trove of fresh material -- including demos, alternate takes, live concert jewels and more -- from all phases of the artist's recording career (1964 -1970). It offers the most complete collection of Jimi's pre-Experience R&B performances (including his singles with the Isley Brothers, Little Richard, Don Covay, King Curtis and more) to ever be officially anthologized, while bringing together the most comprehensive and revelatory set of fully realized songs, never before heard live performances, alternate studio takes, acoustic and electric demos, and other rarities drawn from every chapter of Hendrix's remarkable life and career.

The newly curated and assembled West Coast Seattle Boy - The Jimi Hendrix Anthology also includes Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Child, a new 90-minute documentary directed by the multiple Grammy-award winning Bob Smeaton (Beatles Anthology, Festival Express, Beatles: The Studio Recordings, Band of Gypsys). An autobiographical journey told in the legendary musician's own words as read by Parliament-Funkadelic's Bootsy Collins, the film incorporates interviews with Hendrix, coupled with the artist's letters, writings and recordings to provide new insight into one of the most enduring icons of popular culture.

The documentary features some of Jimi's greatest performances as well as rare and never before seen footage and photos including--for the first time ever--examples from the Hendrix family archive of the late guitarists personal drawings, postcards home to his father, song drafts, sketches, and lyrics.

Who better to tell the incredible story of a man's life than the man himself? Jimi was amazing and only his music, with tones and textures that he conjured, can capture the colorful and expansive essence of his time here on earth. I am enthralled with this all-encompassing new anthology which not only illuminates his years on both sides of the Atlantic and beautifully reveals his versatility as a performer, from his R&B origins to his explosion on the pop culture scene, but highlights who he was for those who knew and loved him, says Janie Hendrix, President and CEO of Experience Hendrix and co-producer of West Coast Seattle Boy - The Jimi Hendrix Anthology.

An essential and historic addition to the Jimi Hendrix catalog, West Coast Seattle Boy - The Jimi Hendrix Anthology brings together, for the first time, many of Hendrix's earliest commercial recordings, providing a rare glimpse of the rising rock guitar hero through a series of stellar sideman performances on a set of highly collectible pre-Experience R&B singles.

Included on the first 2LPs of West Coast Seattle Boy:

    1. Isley Brothers - Testify (1964
    2. Don Covay & the Goodtimers - Mercy, Mercy (1964 - #1 Cashbox R&B - #35 Billboard Hot 100)

    13. Jimmy Norman - That Little Old Groovemaker (1966)
    14. Billy Lamont - Sweet Thang (1968)
    15. King Curtis - Instant Groove (1969)

A Newly Expanded And Remastered Edition In Celebration Of The Film's 25th Anniversary

2xLP Vinyl Package Containing Bonus CD Of Rarities And Unreleased Tracks

Newly Released Bonus CD Features Previously Unreleased Recordings By Chris Cornell, Mike Mccready, Mudhoney, And Paul Westerberg In Addition To Rarities Such As Cornell's 1992 EP Poncier

Includes Liner Notes And A Track-By-Track Description Of The Album's Music Written Especially For This Collection By Cameron Crowe, The Screenwriter And Director Of "Singles"

Epic Soundtrax and Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Cameron Crowe's groundbreaking romantic comedy, "Singles," with the release of a newly expanded and remastered edition of the Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack album.

The 2xLP edition features the album's original 13 tracks newly mastered and freshly pressed across four sides of collectible 12 vinyl. The bonus CD of rarities and unreleased tracks is included as a special insert in the 2xLP 12 vinyl package.

The newly released bonus CD features previously unreleased recordings by Chris Cornell, Mike McCready, Mudhoney, and Paul Westerberg in addition to rarities such as Cornell's 1992 EP Poncier (debuting an early rendition of "Spoonman") and tracks from the film not included on the best-selling soundtrack album first released on June 30, 1992. The success of "Singles" helped establish a then-emerging new generation of rock artists-including 2017 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden-as musical forces to be reckoned with.

The expanded edition of the "Singles" soundtrack includes, for the first time on CD, "Touch Me I'm Dick," the signature track from "Singles" performed by Citizen Dick (a fictional band created for the film featuring frontman Matt Dillon backed by Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament).

The new Epic Soundtrax/Legacy Recordings edition of the Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack includes liner notes-and a track-by-track description of the album's music-written for especially for this collection by Cameron Crowe, the screenwriter and director of "Singles." The newly expanded edition of the film's soundtrack is produced by Danny Bramson and Cameron Crowe and mastered by Mike Piacentini at Battery Studios, New York.

Set in Seattle at the beginning of the 1990s, Crowe's film featured music by relatively obscure (at that time) bands like Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden, providing an introduction to an emerging grunge rock music scene for a welcoming mainstream audience. The film became a cult classic while the soundtrack achieved RIAA double platinum status in the US.

A romantic comedy capturing the zeitgeist of an era, "Singles" helped define the look, sound, attitude and style of Generation X with a fresh-faced ensemble cast featuring Bridget Fonda, Campbell Scott, Kyra Sedgwick, Matt Dillon, Bill Pullman, Sheila Kelly, Jim True-Frost, James LeGros, Ally Walker, Jeremy Piven, Eric Stoltz, Tim Burton and more.

Crowe's groundbreaking film chronicling the lives of Seattle's twentysomethings touched a nerve in the culture while the movie's best-selling soundtrack-with tracks from new artists and classic rockers-provided a critical overview of the roots of grunge and the essential contributions of Seattle rock. Alongside new songs like Alice In Chains' "Would?" and Pearl Jam's "Breath" and "State of Love and Trust" stood the Jimi Hendrix Experience's "May This Be Love" and a breathtaking cover of Led Zeppelin's "The Battle of Evermore" performed by The Lovemongers (a musical side project created by Heart's Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson).

The first edition of the Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack was originally released on June 30, 1992 and became a chart-topping best-seller three months prior to the theatrical release of the film. The soundtrack included music from key bands from the Seattle music scene-including Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden-while Paul Westerberg, in his first solo recordings outside The Replacements-contributed two songs and provided the score for the film. Smashing Pumpkins were also featured on the soundtrack with the song "Drown."

"The album itself was always designed to be sort of an anti-soundtrack, more like a souvenir and a simple mix-tape of some of Seattle's finest," said Cameron Crowe. "It really is and was a tribute to those hard-working bands that welcomed me to their city with open arms, and the music so many still love so much. Anyway, here we are now revisiting 'Singles,' the film, as well as the soundtrack you hold in your hands, expanded with a special tip of the hat to the fans of the original release. Included are unreleased and raw elements that helped shape the experience of making the movie back in 1991. Hope you enjoy the trip back as much as I did - Viva Seattle!"

25 years ago, the film "Singles" and its soundtrack worked together to bring the underground Seattle music scene to the forefront of mainstream consciousness. The album was among the first top-selling movie soundtracks of the 1990s to showcase new material from emerging contemporary bands. The expanded edition of Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is cause to celebrate anew the radical rock sounds that radiated out of the American Northwest a quarter century ago and changed pop music forever.

    Whorl

In April, Simian Mobile Disco trekked out to the Southern California desert, taking with them their new live set up - two modular synths, two sequencers, and a mixer. Over a period of three days, they jammed and rehearsed in the desert, culminating in a one off sold out live show at Pappy & Harriet's, Pioneertown, allowing 900 fans to witness part of the recording process.

Those sessions, taped under the desert sky, became the basis for their brand new album / live project "Whorl". Now, after completing mixing and mastering, they are pleased to announce that the final studio album will be released through Anti- Records (Tom Waits, Kate Bush).

SMD's new live system was born out of a desire to challenge themselves - to remove computers altogether, going back to hardware sequencers, and limiting themselves to a suitcase sized rack of modular synth gear each -which both reduces the sound palette but allows much more hands on, real time manipulation - constraining themselves technically, to free themselves up musically.

Jas, on the recording process - "The recordings we did in the studio while we were writing and rehearsing the new material for Whorl were simply live takes - the system we're using has limited ability to save patterns in the sequencer, but nothing like the flexibility of a computer. Live performance and studio composition are essentially now the same process, rather than the common method of writing a track using the computer, and then working out ways to perform it live. We planned not to slavishly limit ourselves just to this performance - when we came to mixdown the album, we used portions of three sessions - the show itself, an extended jam we did in the desert the day before, and a little of our London studio rehearsal. Future live performances of Whorl are currently being planned, with a full list of tour dates to come - each show will be a live recreation of that recording process, so each time "Whorl" will be slightly different.

To reflect the organic, analogue aims of the new musical set up, long time SMD art & video collaborators Jack Featherstone & Hans Lo have built a complimentary bespoke hardware system to create the album's visual aesthetic. The system involves feeding live generated digital content through an oscilloscope, filming the oscilloscope's screen, then further processing the image produced. This system will be used in forthcoming videos and SMD's live shows (it was debuted at Sonar this weekend). The cover image is a still grabbed from one of these oscilloscope jams, capturing a moment of flux in performance.

The accompanying trailer showcases all the elements of the Whorl project, including the desert valley where the rehearsal/jam was recorded, the landscape that inspired the performances, the oscilloscope visuals and the show at Pappy & Harriets. In the coming weeks, further video pieces will explore different elements in more detail. The video is set to a short excerpt of "Tangents".
