Gish (Awaiting Repress)1991's Gish is the debut album by alt-rock pioneers the Smashing Pumpkins. Produced by Butch Vig, Gish not only put the band and their guitar-centric, layered sound on the map, but it also served as one of the earliest releases of what would be deemed the alt-rock movement. Epic cuts like I Am One, Siva and Rhinoceros flash a unique and promising potential that would become fully realized two years later with their breakout genre-defining album Siamese Dream.1. I Am One

Siamese Dream (Awaiting Repress)Ranked 360/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Originally released in 1993, Siamese Dream is the breakthrough second album from the Smashing Pumpkins and of the the finest to ever come out of the alt-rock movement. Co-produced with Butch Vig and instrumentally recorded almost entirely by bandleader Billy Corgan himself, the guitar-heavy affair generated no less than four hit singles in Cherub Rock, Today, Disarm and Rocket. Built on rich, layered sonics and inherent dynamic tension, Siamese Dream stands alongside Nirvana's Nevermind and Soundgarden's Superunknown as the defining albums of the decade and alt-rock's Mount Rushmore.LP1

The Smashing Pumpkins' career-defining 1995 double album Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness has earned Diamond certification by the RIAA for sales of 10,000,000 discs and digital equivalent per disc (5 million copies of the double album). This news comes in the midst of EMI Music's extensive reissue campaign honoring the legacy of the iconic alternative band. It continues December 3 in North America and December 4 internationally with the Pumpkins' fourth album Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness receiving the fully remastered treatment for the first time. This follows last year's acclaimed reissues of the band's groundbreaking first two albums, Gish (1991) and Siamese Dream (1993), as well as this past summer's Pisces Iscariot (1994), the band's third album.
Originally released October 24, 1995, Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness would debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified 9x platinum by the RIAA. It yielded major hits like ''Bullet With Butterfly Wings''-the band's unlikely first Top 40 hit-the exquisite ''1979'' and epic ''Tonight, Tonight'' as well as a thoroughly inspired series of videos. Produced by BILLY CORGAN, Flood and Alan Moulder, the album would also earn a Grammy Award (1996 Best Hard Rock Performance for ''Bullet With Butterfly Wings'') as well as seven nominations. Beyond the more obvious hits, though, Mellon Collie is a song cycle of unusual depth and considerable range. It is a collection of stunningly beautiful moments when everything lined up--a moment in time that's still here to be treasured.1. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness

The 4th album of Hole was a huge commercial achievement, successfully bridging the gap between Grunge and guitar Pop. The band revolving around Kurt Cobain's widow Courtney Love carved a niche for themselves as the seminal female fronted Grunge group. Established in 1991, the band functioned as a cathartic outlet for enfant terrible Love, which makes their work incredibly compelling. Their 1998 album Celebrity Skin revealed a polished, energetic sound. As the Shaggs so wonderfully sang ''It's Halloween! It's Halloween!'' How could Third Man let the year pass without any celebration? We couldn't. We are beguiled to bring you two new original recordings from Elvira™ Mistress of the Dark. With two songs written by the otherworldly Fred Schneider (of the B-52s!), both ''2 Big Pumpkins'' and ''13 Nights of Halloween'' brim with fun double-entendres, campy cackling, devilishly danceable beats and so much more. If that weren't enough, the cover art for the single is printed with heat-reactive ink. So while Elvira may appear to be only a dark silhouette, once things heat up you'll definitely get a delightful eyeful. And did we mention pugnacious purple vinyl? I think we just did.1. 2 Big Pumpkins

Pisces IscariotPart of an extensive campaign honoring the legacy of the iconic alternative band, the Smashing Pumpkins' 1994 album Pisces Iscariot returns in a vinyl configuration remastered from the original master tapes specifically for the format.
The Smashing Pumpkins have created one of the most acclaimed bodies of work in musical history, selling more than 30 million albums. The pivotal group's many hits defined the alternative music era and continue to resonate on modern rock radio, influencing a whole new generation.
The Smashing Pumpkins are a big rock band, molded by leader Billy Corgan after stadium and progressive rock giants from the 1970s. As such it's only fitting that after only two albums they would release a collection of B-sides. The result, Pisces Iscariot, is not only a good compendium to their other work, but it's a very good record in its own right. Most of the 14 tracks follow the Pumpkins' blueprint, traveling sonically from soft to loud and back again. Among the slew of originals previously available on singles and imports is a hauntingly beautiful cover of Fleetwood Mac's Landslide.1. Soothe

Monuments To An ElegyMonuments to an Elegy is the upcoming tenth studio album by Smashing Pumpkins.
I'd like to boast and say it's some newly invented form, Corgan wrote. But more than likely it's just a stripped compendium, that in its steeliness achieves some eager, brute modernity. Oh, and apparently there's an epic wizard part, too.
Corgan also revealed that the process of writing and recording Monuments to an Elegy was one of the easiest and most pleasurable albums I've ever made.1. Tiberius

Featuring "I'm Deranged" By David Bowie, "The Perfect Drug" By Nine Inch Nails
Lost Highway is the 1997 French-American neo-noir-horror mystery film written and directed by David Lynch. It stars Bill Pullman as a man convicted of murdering his wife (Patricia Arquette), after which he inexplicably morphs into a young mechanic and begins a new life.
The film's score was composed by Angelo Badalamenti, with additional music by Barry Adamson, however Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails was responsible for assembling the soundtrack. David Bowie's "I'm Deranged", Rammstein's "Heirate Mich", Lou Reed's "This Magic Moment", Marilyn Manson's "Apple Of Sodom" plus more tracks from Trent Reznor, The Smashing Pumpkins all appear on the double album to accompany the Angelo Badalamenti and Barry Adamson theme music.
Lost Highway premiered in 1997 in the United States on a limited theatrical release and has developed a cult following. Which probably explains why original copies of this record are selling for about $150 if you can find them So consider this release a twin tribute to two guys who brought a big smile to millions of kids, especially those on the East Coast that used to see Zach present all those cheesy horror movies on TV. Different CreaturesTwo years on from their youthfully nervy debut, Liverpool's Circa Waves are showing signs of an assured maturity on their sophomore album, 2017's confidently delivered Different Creatures. On 2015's aptly titled Young Chasers, Circa Waves lead singer/songwriter Kieran Shudall cooed and sneered his way through a wave of kinetic post-punk that seemed born as much out of teen angst and a boyish enthusiasm as his obvious love of influences like Arctic Monkeys and the Strokes.
While still clearly carrying a torch for early-2000s neo-post-punk, Shudall and his Circa Waves bandmates are now road-hardened tour vets, indie rock prodigal sons returned home to reconnect with old mates over a pint, figure out how their relationships went so awry, and contextualize the insanity of the past few years. It's a vibe perhaps best expressed on the yearning Without You, in which Shudall sings, Finally getting some, thank god for home/So, shit food and sleeping pills/Cheap drinks and cheaper thrills/Oh pour me, pour me/And I and I, I will lead this parade/And I will travel for days to get to you. It's a catchy song, as are many on Different Creatures, reminiscent of their previous efforts but with an added layer of muscular guitar fuzz that brings to mind the bombastic '90s sludge of the Pixies crossed with the passionate alt-rock swoon of The Bends-era Radiohead.
It's probably no coincidence that, prior to working with bands like the Killers and Interpol, Different Creatures producer Alan Moulder made his name working on albums by such alt-rock icons as Ride, My Bloody Valentine, Smashing Pumpkins, and Nine Inch Nails. With Moulder at the helm, Circa Waves deliver a varied set of driving anthems that do recapture much of the convergent energy of the '90s Brit-pop and alt-rock scenes. Without overwhelming you with a sense of dÉjà vu, cuts like Out on My Own, Stuck, and Goodbye are massively hooky blasts of guitar rock that subtly draw cues from both older acts like Smashing Pumpkins and similarly inclined contemporary bands like the Killers and Kings of Leon. Elsewhere, Shudall showcases his stylistic range on the John Lennon-esque acoustic ballad Love's Run Out, and leavens the Killers/Kings of Leon influence with some Lindsey Buckingham-ish, Fleetwood Mac-level pop grandeur on the uber-catchy standout Fire That Burns.
Part of what makes Circa Waves so compelling is that they are able to match the sound of their influences while still believably making the results sound their own. They've grown into an assured rock entity, but they've retained their fundamental sense of working-class Liverpudlian blues. As Shudall sings on Old Friends, I can't believe I'm still up/I can't believe this conversation is still going/I need to really grow up/I drank so much I can't see straight son/What am I doing? Ultimately, with Different Creatures, Circa Waves sound like they know exactly what they are doing.

Includes Liner Notes And A Track-By-Track Description Of The Album's Music Written Especially For This Collection By Cameron Crowe, The Screenwriter And Director Of "Singles"
Epic Soundtrax and Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Cameron Crowe's groundbreaking romantic comedy, "Singles," with the release of a newly expanded and remastered edition of the Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack album.
The 2xLP edition features the album's original 13 tracks newly mastered and freshly pressed across four sides of collectible 12 vinyl. The bonus CD of rarities and unreleased tracks is included as a special insert in the 2xLP 12 vinyl package.
The newly released bonus CD features previously unreleased recordings by Chris Cornell, Mike McCready, Mudhoney, and Paul Westerberg in addition to rarities such as Cornell's 1992 EP Poncier (debuting an early rendition of "Spoonman") and tracks from the film not included on the best-selling soundtrack album first released on June 30, 1992. The success of "Singles" helped establish a then-emerging new generation of rock artists-including 2017 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden-as musical forces to be reckoned with.
The expanded edition of the "Singles" soundtrack includes, for the first time on CD, "Touch Me I'm Dick," the signature track from "Singles" performed by Citizen Dick (a fictional band created for the film featuring frontman Matt Dillon backed by Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament).
The new Epic Soundtrax/Legacy Recordings edition of the Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack includes liner notes-and a track-by-track description of the album's music-written for especially for this collection by Cameron Crowe, the screenwriter and director of "Singles." The newly expanded edition of the film's soundtrack is produced by Danny Bramson and Cameron Crowe and mastered by Mike Piacentini at Battery Studios, New York.
Set in Seattle at the beginning of the 1990s, Crowe's film featured music by relatively obscure (at that time) bands like Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden, providing an introduction to an emerging grunge rock music scene for a welcoming mainstream audience. The film became a cult classic while the soundtrack achieved RIAA double platinum status in the US.
A romantic comedy capturing the zeitgeist of an era, "Singles" helped define the look, sound, attitude and style of Generation X with a fresh-faced ensemble cast featuring Bridget Fonda, Campbell Scott, Kyra Sedgwick, Matt Dillon, Bill Pullman, Sheila Kelly, Jim True-Frost, James LeGros, Ally Walker, Jeremy Piven, Eric Stoltz, Tim Burton and more.
Crowe's groundbreaking film chronicling the lives of Seattle's twentysomethings touched a nerve in the culture while the movie's best-selling soundtrack-with tracks from new artists and classic rockers-provided a critical overview of the roots of grunge and the essential contributions of Seattle rock. Alongside new songs like Alice In Chains' "Would?" and Pearl Jam's "Breath" and "State of Love and Trust" stood the Jimi Hendrix Experience's "May This Be Love" and a breathtaking cover of Led Zeppelin's "The Battle of Evermore" performed by The Lovemongers (a musical side project created by Heart's Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson).
The first edition of the Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack was originally released on June 30, 1992 and became a chart-topping best-seller three months prior to the theatrical release of the film. The soundtrack included music from key bands from the Seattle music scene-including Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden-while Paul Westerberg, in his first solo recordings outside The Replacements-contributed two songs and provided the score for the film. Smashing Pumpkins were also featured on the soundtrack with the song "Drown."
"The album itself was always designed to be sort of an anti-soundtrack, more like a souvenir and a simple mix-tape of some of Seattle's finest," said Cameron Crowe. "It really is and was a tribute to those hard-working bands that welcomed me to their city with open arms, and the music so many still love so much. Anyway, here we are now revisiting 'Singles,' the film, as well as the soundtrack you hold in your hands, expanded with a special tip of the hat to the fans of the original release. Included are unreleased and raw elements that helped shape the experience of making the movie back in 1991. Hope you enjoy the trip back as much as I did - Viva Seattle!"
25 years ago, the film "Singles" and its soundtrack worked together to bring the underground Seattle music scene to the forefront of mainstream consciousness. The album was among the first top-selling movie soundtracks of the 1990s to showcase new material from emerging contemporary bands. The expanded edition of Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is cause to celebrate anew the radical rock sounds that radiated out of the American Northwest a quarter century ago and changed pop music forever.LP 1

It seemed like every other week there was another great new alt-rock album to discover, such as Nirvana's Nevermind, Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger, Primus's Sailing The Seas of Cheese, and the Smashing Pumpkins' Gish, so Mudhoney couldn't have picked a better time to issue their sophomore release. Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge was issued right in the middle of the whole grunge movement, and while it didn't sell in the vast quantities of some other Seattle bands' albums, it did stir up quite a buzz for Mudhoney. Some of the band's finest moments are included here, such as Generation Genocide, Let it Slide, Into the Drink, Who You Drivin' Now? and Fuzzgun '91.1. Generation Genocide

JarDaylight spent the past few years honing their grunge buzzing, and desperate sad sound across four EP's, showcasing and perfecting a talent for writing both jarringly heavy and delicately emotional songs. With high-anticipation, the Pennsylvania four-piece deliver JAR, their debut full-length. Engineer & producer Will Yip's massive production knocks you on your ass from the very first drum hit and snarling guitar riff. The stadium-sound drums, plus pulsing bass and walls of buzzsaw guitars are all mixed with the size and clarity of major label grunge breakthrough records like Nirvana's Nevermind and Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream. Daylight have delivered a towering rock record and an early contender for album of the year.
After a string of EPs throughout the past six years, Daylight's debut LP makes good on all the hype that's surrounded the band of late, with 12 tracks produced by Will Yip (Title Fight, Man Overboard) that push the recording's boundaries past any sense of genre one might apply. In terms of aesthetic (rather than specific tone), it reminds of the grungy, '90s-inspired post-hardcore of Pennsylvania brethren Title Fight's 2012 stunner Floral Green, or Colourmeinkindness by labelmates Basement; similar to those albums, Jar fuses a wide range of influences from Nirvana and Foo Fighters to Cave In and Seaweed into a seamless, spatial organic mush, for a thrillingly unpredictable and compelling listen.4/5 - Altpress.com1. New Wave (Colored Vinyl) (Awaiting Repress)Limited to 1,000 Yellow and Black Split Colored Vinyl
Reissue of the 2007 major label debut of one of the most controversial modern day rock acts. Features the singles ''Stop'' and ''Thrash Unreal''.
For Against Me! frontman Tom Gabel (now Laura Jane Grace), sometimes you have to get the hell out just to find your way back in. Since 1997 we have seen Gabel rise from acoustic folk-punk gunslinger in the dives of Gainesville, Florida to releasing Against Me!'s searing, blood-smeared slices of scrappy punk. The 2007 release, New Wave, was their major label debut, one that Spin magazine anointed as their Album Of The Year. And while Gainesville was home, Gabel felt the walls closing in when touring for New Wave came to an end. So he split. With his then-wife, he left behind the ''didja-hear-about-so-and-so'' insular Gainesville world for the sleepy beach town of St. Augustine, wandering the streets and driving dusty back roads: searching, pining, hoping for inspiration.

As musical lunacy goes, things have gotten as crazy as it gets for Death Cab for Cutie since 2002's You Can Play These Songs with Chords compilation. A wildly successful tour with Dismemberment Plan, a collaboration for singer Ben Gibbard with emo-electronic guru Dntel under the Postal Service moniker, and a whole new legion of fans swooning to Gibbard's lyrics as if he were a modern day answer to Kiss Me-era Robert Smith have all amassed considerable hype around Transatlanticism. But the group proves themselves more than equal to the task, answering the call and proving the cynics wrong with their most focused and most mature work in their entire catalog. Transatlanticism wastes absolutely no time and dives in head first with The New Year, one of the most melodramatic openings to an album since the Smashing Pumpkins' Tonight, Tonight from Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. The mellow, mixed-meter percussion and dense atmosphere of Lightness is a brilliant lead into the pop-happy Expo '86 and The Sound of Settling before setting up the climatic and intensely dramatic title track. Unconsciously taking a page from Blur's Sing, the hypnotic drumming and guitar call and responses through the eight-minute climax of the album are backed with a singalong finale that unquestionably will have every audience on the next tour singing along and holding up their lighters. And while most albums would be left exhausted after such a track, the group keeps things moving, albeit at a much slower pace than compared to the anthems that packed the first half. Gibbard seamlessly makes the transition between songs that full out rock to songs that are comparable to Elliott Smith's finest hour with great ease. But it's Gibbard's poetic lyrics and signature introspection that remain a bench mark for Death Cab; and it's the group's maturity as musicians as well as songwriters that make Transatlanticism such a decadently good listen from start to finish. The band has never sounded more cohesive, the track sequencing is brilliant, and it caps off a triumphant year for not only Gibbard, but a band whose time and greater recognition is finally due. ~ Rob Theakston, All Music Guide1.
