    Back To Us (Deluxe)

CM Awards Vocal Group of the Year Nominee Rascal Flatts release their highly-anticipated tenth studio album BACK TO US (Big Machine Records) . The collection is reminiscent of the trio's distinct sound that catapulted their status as international superstars, while maintaining an edge that has kept them at the forefront of the genre. With 12 of 13 tracks produced by the group with bassist Jay DeMarcus taking the reigns the album explores the powerful emotions of relationships with songwriting credits from the trio throughout, adding a personal depth to the release.

Stacked with multiple standout moments, including the vocally-driven collaboration with Lauren Alaina, Are You Happy Now, the trio also called upon songwriting powerhouses and friends Dan + Shay, alongside Cary Barlowe and Jesse Frasure for the optimistically, upbeat Hopin You Were Lookin and Chris Stapleton, joined by Luke Laird, for the effervescent Vandalized. Hands Talk also welcomes red-hot producer busbee, who co-wrote and produced the track for the deluxe album.

The infectious song is turning heads as one of the fastest moving singles on country radio charts (Entertainment Weekly) while Rolling Stone proclaims it showcases the band's vocal harmonies and knack for sing-along hooks.

    M.I.

In case you missed the APB, Masked Intruder broke into the punk scene with their highly acclaimed 2012 self-titled album and have been building up quite a rap sheet ever since. These thugs have been on tour for the past two years with the likes of NOFX, Less Than Jake, and Teenage Bottlerocket, stealing the hearts of unwitting fans all along the way. Finally, the law caught up to these rascals and they were sent to the "big house" to think about their crimes. While meditating on how to be upright citizens, they killed time by writing new songs and digging their way to freedom. Once again, they managed to dodge the law long enough to hole up at Atlas Studios in Chicago with Matt Allison as their accomplice, laying down 13 tracks of polished, hook-laden power pop that's so catchy, it's criminal. Of course Masked Intruder will continue their life on the lam throughout 2014 in support of M.I., pilfering their way through the U.S., Europe, and Australia. Consider yourself warned.

And ladies, be vigilant around these romeos as we intercepted this message from Intruder Blue: "We are extremely stoked on this record! We had a great time working with Matt Allison again and we couldn't be happier with how the record came out! We can't wait for everybody to hear it, especially all of the ladies out there! We really feel like we poured our hearts into this one, and we expect that the ladies are gonna pick up on that and maybe wanna make out with us. That's the idea, anyway. Cool!!!"

The Best Of Booker T. And The M.G.'s

The Original Atlantic Soul Masters 180g Audiophile Vinyl Series Continues..

As a young teenager growing up in Memphis, Tennessee, Booker T. Jones had the amazing talent to play a number of instruments and he played them well. Mastering them well enough to land him work at the famous Stax Records label as a sideman, while still attending high school. It was during this time he met up with future guitar legend Steve Cropper and drummer great Al Jackson and later formed the Stax wrecking crew known as Booker T. & The M.G.s.

This amazing quartet, whom later added the amazing Donald Duck Dunn on bass went on to record a treasure trove of funk, soul and rock masterpieces, which have gone on to become some of the greatest sides ever waxed in modern soul history! With chart topping soul rockers like Green Onions, Red Beans And Rice and Hip Hug-Her, the good folks at Atlantic honored this famed quartet with their own greatest hits album, the magnificent The Best Of Booker T. & The M.G.s in 1968. This original album has been out of print for many years, and for several decades in the vinyl format...that is until now.

Friday Music is proud to offer the original Atlantic Records masterpiece The Best Of Booker T. & The M.G.s for the first time on 180g Audiophile Vinyl. Mastered impeccably from the original Atlantic Records tapes by Joe Reagoso at Friday Music Studios with Kevin Gray.

Co-produced by Evans & Mark Bright (Carrie Underwood & Rascal Flatts), Words is the first full studio album release from Sara Evans in over 3 years. Lead by the first single "Marquee Sign," the album is comprised of 13 new original songs along with an acoustic version of her #1 single "A Little Bit Stronger."

"When I'm listening to a song, it's the lyrics and the stories they tell that matter most to me," Sara said. "Not only is 'Words' the title to one of the songs on my album but in listening to new music for the record, I was always looking for lyrics that moved me and expressed a powerful range of emotions. Women are natural storytellers and I'm proud to have so many amazing female songwriters represented on this record."

Words marks a creative reunion for Evans, pairing her with frequent co-producer Mark Bright (2005's Real Fine Place, 2014's Slow Me Down) while Tracy Gershon provides A&R direction. Her daughter Olivia even contributes background vocals to the record.

    Hip Hug-Her

Booker T. & The MG's smoked the charts once again in 1967 with the fabulously slinky Hip Hug-Her -just like they'd never left. As house band for Memphis' Stax Records, backing Otis Redding, Sam & Dave and Wilson Pickett, the MG's had written the book on instrumental soul music, and the Hip Hug-Her album impeccably testifies to the greatness of Booker T. Jones, Steve Cropper, Duck Dunn and Alvin Jackson. MG's versions of the Young Rascals' Groovin' and Bobby Hebb's Sunny were so downright in-the-groove, they became big hits themselves all over again. 6 Feet Beneath The Moon

Six Feet Beneath The Moon is the long-anticipated debut album from Southeast London's King Krule.

Archy Marshall aka King Krule broke out two years ago, at the tender age of 16 with his eponymous
EP released on True Panther. King Krule's sound, a
hypnotic mixture indebted to working class British
song-smiths like Billy Bragg as much as NY No-Wave
and hip hop carries a maturity and depth far beyond
his years. The EP's lead single, "Noose of Jah City"
found a great deal of success on BBC's Radio 1,
and brought Archy praise from Pitchfork, The NY
Times, FADER and numerous other publications. His
music has also won him fans among today's young
music elite - Mac Miller, Frank Ocean and Tyler, The
Creator are all supporters, collaborators and fans.

Six Feet Beneath The Moon takes the potential
evident in the EP and blows it out of the water.
Across 14 tracks Archy expertly weaves incredible
stories of London life, his own relationships and
experiences with the swagger of a street poet, all in his incredibly distinct smoky baritone. The album, recorded mostly near Archy's South London
home with producer Rodaidh McDonnell (The XX,
Savages, How To Dress Well) is stark but incredibly
rich - painting with a palate full of hip hop, jazz, no-wave and poetic influences.

The album shares the electric confidence of some of last decade's most important debuts - Arctic
Monkeys' Whatever People Say I Am, That's What
I'm Not', The Streets' Original Pirate Material and
Dizzee Rascal's Boy In Da Corner. It is somehow
both a perfect summary of a young man's life in a
particular part of London and a universal, deeply
moving and compelling statement. Most importantly,
it is the flag ushering in a new and important musical voice that is sure to be with us for quite some time.

    Title

"'All About That Bass' doesn't sound like anything else that's on pop radio
right now - especially the chorus, which has a doo-wop feel." - Billboard

"All About That Bass is a sweet delight on every level - from its pro-curves lyrics to its lilting,
island-tinged groove, to Trainor's girl-group-era delivery that will make you
miss Amy Winehouse all over again." - Newsday

"With its throwback soul beat, its body-positive message couched in a cute metaphor,
and its dance-filled, candy-colored video, Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass"
couldn't have been better designed to go viral." - Entertainment Weekly

"She's a cheeky one, but the up-and-coming pop star has a charm that's hard to resist.
Her bubblegum hit is burning up the Billboard top 10 and the 20-year-old singer
could end up being the next Katy Perry." - New York Post

When she was still in high school, singer/songwriter MEGHAN
TRAINOR landed a deal with Nashville music publishing
company Big Yellow Dog and started writing songs for artists
from all corners of the music world. A multi-instrumentalist who
put out three albums on her own by the age of 17, the 20-yearold
Nantucket, Massachusetts native has penned tracks for
everyone from Grammy-winning country superstars RASCAL
FLATTS and Grammy-nominated country artist HUNTER HAYES
to reggae/rock/R&B group COMMON KINGS and Hot Chelle
Rae singer RYAN FOLLESÉ. Recently signed to Epic Records,
Meghan joined forces with Grammy-nominated producer/
songwriter Kevin Kadish (Miley Cyrus, Jason Mraz) for her
infectious debut single, "ALL ABOUT THAT BASS," a playful,
empowering and unapologetic pop anthem that encourages
girls to ignore the Barbie doll standard of beauty and love

Christmas And The Beads Of Sweat (Pure Pleasure)

Laura Nyro's third Columbia effort is easily the equal of her previous two. The overwhelming strength of her songwriting and distinctive arrangements fuel Christmas And The Beads Of Sweat. Her unmistakable style of delivery maintains the continual examination of herself as a performer. The results are uniformly interesting and provocative as she continues to draw upon her love of jazz, folk, and R&B.

Conceptually, this album is as potent as her previous effort, New York Tendaberry, but in a much different way. Rather than hanging together thematically, Christmas And The Beads Of Sweat features two inclusive and distinctive sides of music -- with different musicians and producers for each.

The first five tracks feature Nyro backed by the Swampers from Muscle Shoals, AL, and include the talents of Roger Hawkins (drums), Eddie Hinton (guitar), Dave Hood (bass), Barry Becket (vibraphone), and Jack Jennings (percussion), with Arif Mardin producing. While this pairing might seem initially incongruous, the quintet had been concurrently working with the likes of Dusty Springfield and Cher and had gained a rightful reputation as a consummate backup band.

The final four pieces are steeped in noir more atypical of her previous efforts. The all-star cast of New York City session heavyweights are led by Felix Cavaliere (producer) and features fellow Rascals member Dino Danelli (drums), Ralph McDonald (percussion), Chuck Rainey (bass), Cornell Dupree (guitar), Duane Allman (guitar), and Alice Coltrane (stringed harp), among others.

As with all of Nyro's recordings, at the heart of this effort are her ageless compositions and arrangements. A motif connecting such disparate tunes as the upbeat When I Was A Freeport And You Were The Main Drag to the hauntingly beautiful Christmas In My Soul and Beads Of Sweat is the aching hollowness that came with the disillusionment that Vietnam, Kent State, and racial relations brought upon America in 1970. As she had done with Save The Country some four years earlier, Nyro's cathartic expressionism is captured at its most fervent on this album.

    About Pure Pleasure

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

    The Age of Understatement

The Last Shadow Puppets are Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys) and Miles Kane (The Rascals). Firm friends ever since the Arctic Monkeys toured with KaneÆs previous group, The Little Flames, the pair were so inspired by listening to the likes of Scott Walker, early Bowie and David Axelrod, that they hatched a plan. The result, The Age of the Understatement, is an album of 12 full-blooded songs, bold and brassy, full of drama, wit and melody, that source the past but avoid falling into pastiche. Both Miles and Alex are 22, and this is a youthful record, full of life and the sheer pleasure of music making. The Last Shadow Puppets recorded the songs at Black Box studios near Nantes, France in two weeks during the summer of 2007, with producer and drummer James Ford. The band then approached Owen Pallett to arrange and conduct the orchestration of the tracks, which were recorded by the 22 piece London Metropolitan Orchestra at British Grove studios in London over Christmas.

Marc's distinctive vocals have rarely sounded richer and warmer. - Record Collector

Almond's voice--although it no longer veers out of tune like it used to so endearingly in the 80s--is still enthralling. - The Guardian

'Shadows And Reflections' is the new album by Marc Almond released by BMG. It features sumptuous arrangements of iconic torch songs and60's orchestral pop for which he is beloved, as well as two new original compositions. The album features songs written or recorded by artists such as Burt Bacharach, The Action, The Yardbirds, Bobby Darin, Julie Driscoll, Billy Fury and the Young Rascals. The album thematically begins and ends in an apartment. It's about this guy that's living in a luxury expansive glass apartment overlooking the city, filled with sculptures and beautiful things, an empty soulless shell, surrounded by absurd wealth. He is sitting alone and I imagine listening to this music, possibly the songs that make up this album. He's rich in the bank but the poorest person you know.

2017 cements the 60th Birthday year for the singer who the Observer noted, has never stood still and comes after the great success of the Top 10 album 'Hits And Pieces', which was followed by a sold-out Spring tour including a triumphant show at London's Roundhouse.

    The Best Of Wilson Pickett

The great Wilson Pickett will be forever known as one of the original classic soul pioneers who had a knack of mastering funk grooves drenched in soul, rock and pop. He made some of the greatest sides ever for Atlantic, where he spent almost two decades creating some of the grittiest sold music ever waxed.

In 1967, Wilson 'The Wicked' Pickett was honored with his first greatest hits collection by Atlantic Records simply titled The Best Of Wilson Pickett. This stunning array of his hit singles, most of them backed by Booker T. and The M.G.'s, dominated the upper rungs of the soul and pop charts for over a year.

The man was important in bridging all types of rhythm and blues music to a much wider audience, churning out not only soul smashes but pop masterpieces. Most of his biggest hits have been covered by contemporaries like The Rascals, Solomon Burke, Jackie Wilson, The Supremes, B.B. King, Mitch Ryder and Bryan Ferry, just to name a few.

    Expensive Shit

Nigerian police, seeking to put down this independent-minded rascal, tried to plant a joint on Kuti during a gathering at his home. Wise to there plan, he quickly swallowed the joint, but the police then threw him in jail to produce the evidence from his faeces. He escaped charges with some wily plotting, and then produced this song mocking the police for wasting resources on hassling him instead of furthering justice in Nigeria. Opening brass rounds give way to interplay between Fela's narration about the episode and responses from his group of female singers.

Over the past years, Calvin Harris has had number 1 hit after number 1 hit with his EDM-style songs (most recently with Summer) and collaborations with the likes of Rihanna, Kelis, Dizzy Rascal, Florence Welch, Example, Ellie Goulding.

His debut album I Created Disco (2007) is much more funky and not so much EDM, but contained a handful of chartbusters as well. Acceptable In The 80s, Colours, Vegas, The Girls and Merrymaking At My Place were very successful in the European charts. Harris combined all the right ingredients on I Created Disco; 80's Wave, Soul, Disco, House, Electro and Pop.
