Muddy Waters, the undisputed king of Chicago blues, hit a string of highly successful albums in the late 70s. In between Hard Again and King Bee came in 1978 I'm Ready, a powerful blues record containing new material and classic reworks. Driving blues burners such as Willie Dixon's "I'm Ready" and "Rock Me" are varied by slow jams like "33 Years", "Hoochie Coochie Man" and "Screamin' And Cryin'". Muddy is clearly feeling alright with these song selections. As on Hard Again, Johnny Winter is taking care of the production duties, allowing I'm Ready to be a spontaneous outburst of pure bluesyness, with a lively feel.1. I'm Ready

Motown Records approached American R&B/rock band Rare Earth in the latter part of 1968 to sign a recording contract with the label. At first the group was reluctant because of the fact that other white artists/groups hadn't found success with the label because they were primarily geared for promotion and distribution in the black market only.
It was when Motown decided they wanted to launch a new division of Motown to cater to more white artists and broader radio formats that Rare Earth relented. Motown didn't have a name for their new endeavor initially so the band jokingly suggested their namesake Rare Earth. Surprisingly, they agreed and the Rare Earth subsidiary was born.
Rare Earth had been playing clubs for several years prior to signing with Motown, cutting their teeth on a lot of R&B music which was prevalent on the radio at the time. This is where the band developed their now famous version of the Smokey Robinson/Temptations song Get Ready. It started out as a 3-minute song until one member took a solo and then everyone wanted a solo so over time it evolved into a 21-minute long monster. It became the closing song each night and people liked it so much they would stay just to hear it.
The band even featured the extended take of Get Ready on an entire side of this, their 1969 debut album of the same name for Motown. After initial slow sales, they decided to release the first three minutes of Get Ready as a single. Not only was it a huge hit, peaking at #4, it propelled the album, which also boasts the band's takes on the classics Tobacco Road and Feelin' Alright, into the Top 20!1. Magic City

The marvelous title track alone, with Eddie Kendricks gliding into the stratosphere, made this an instant winner. There were several fine songs that weren't hits, such as Not Now, I'll Tell You Later and I've Been Good to You, and there sure wasn't anything wrong with powerhouse cuts like Ain't Too Proud to Beg. The Temptations would score four straight number one hits in the mid-'60s, each one an unforgettable classic.

Ready Take OneErroll Garner was one of the great American Jazz pianists of the 20th century, yet very few know his name or his music. Ready Take One is the first completely new Garner studio album in nearly 25 years.
As never before, listeners are treated to a rare peek behind the studio doors, with revealing conversation between Garner, his quartet, and longtime manager/producer Martha Glaser included between many of the songs. As pianist/producer Geri Allen writes, a kind of fifth member of the band, Glaser would support Erroll Garner in the moment of the creative act, as evidenced by the title of the album, a direct reference to Glaser's steady refrain of, Ready, take one.
Ready Take One features six never before released original Garner compositions, including the infectious Wild Music and beautiful ballad, Back To You. Recorded during a prolific five-year period beginning in 1967, all 14 songs on Ready Take One are previously unreleased, having only recently been discovered after nearly 50 years.LP 1

Ready to Die is the debut album of American rapper The Notorious B.I.G., released September 13, 1994 on Bad Boy Records. The first release on the label, it features production by record producer and Bad Boy founder Sean Puffy Combs, Easy Mo Bee, Chucky Thompson, DJ Premier, and Lord Finesse, among others. Ready For ConfettiReady For Confetti is the 16th release in a celebrated career that spans 30+ years, and shows no signs of slowing down. Robert Earl Keen has toured extensively throughout most of his career, creating a loyal and extensive fan base. On any given night, the audience at a Robert Earl Keen show can be a mix of blue collar, white collar, young, middle aged, academic, honky tonk, hipster, city slicker, collegiate, socially conscious or socially inept. All are welcome and all gain something from the experience that keeps them coming back.
Robert Earl Keen is a songwriters songwriter, who skillfully blends elements of folk, jazz, country, blues, rock, Texas swing and spoken word with his wry wit and penchant for satire. His songs make people laugh, cry, dance, sing and most importantly, think. Through all of this, the common thread that runs through Keens impressive body of work is the narrative. Robert Earl Keen is a master storyteller who stands side-by-side with the great storytellers of his era, in any genre. The sun-splashed title track, the swing-filled Top Down, the reggae-infused Waves On The Ocean, the venom-laced The Road Goes On and On and the country ballad Paint The Town Beige will confirm that Ready For Confetti is Robert Earl Keen in top form.

Ready For The WeekendImport
Ready For The Weekend is the second studio album by Scottish recording artist Calvin Harris, released in 2009. The album topped the UK Albums Chart and was certified Gold by the British Phonographic Industry.
Harris had been working on the album since the release of his debut album, I Created Disco [MOVLP1185], with the first tracks being recorded in 2008. In April 2008, Harris stated that the only existing copy of his then-upcoming album was lost when his laptop was misplaced during the baggage handling problems at the opening of London Heathrow Terminal 5. He later stated on the BBC's Glastonbury Festival 2008 coverage that he got his baggage back including the album within a few days. However, Harris ultimately admitted in April 2009 that this was a lie as the album was not in his luggage at all, and that he hoped that what he said would give him more time to finish recording the album.
I'm Not Alone was released as the album's lead single. The song debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart, knocking off Lady Gaga's Poker Face. It spent two weeks atop the chart, before dropping to number three in its third week. Ready for the Weekend was released as the album's second single, peaking at number three on the UK Singles Chart. Flashback and You Used to Hold Me, were also released as singles. An extended version of Harris's 2008 chart-topping collaboration with Dizzee Rascal, Dance wiv Me, is also included on the album. Yeah Yeah Yeah La La La was used in a Coca-Cola advertisement in the summer of 2009.

Let's Be ReadyThe Wooden Sky have announced their highly anticipated fourth album Lets Be Ready, out via Nevado Music. This release marks the start of new beginnings, as the tireless roots rockers conceived the album amidst a time of many changes while they parted ways with one of the groups founding members. In order to give each song a unique perspective and to encapsulate their raw live energy, the band, alongside producer Chris Stringer (Timbre Timbre, Ohbijou) decided to record the album across various studios throughout Toronto.
The album opens with the up beat track "Saturday Night" which combines shimmering guitar melodies over heart heavy lyrics, while "Baby Hold On" offers up the bands stylistic dexterity as it shifts from folk to country and back again while singer Gavin Gardiner's soulful draw is supported by the bands gospel-like backing harmonies. "Shake For Me" starts off slowly and continues to build as it finally peaks with the last minute swirling into a wash of guitars and drums. The first single "Maybe It's No Secret" showcases the bands raw live energy while lyrically dealing with the hardships and nomadic lifestyle of being in a touring band.

Rough And Ready (Awaiting Repress)Jeff Beck is truly a worldwide gift to rock music and guitar enthusiasts everywhere. There will never be another Jeff Beck, a guitar genius who has enthralled generations of aspiring musicians and music lovers with the many fine recordings he has made for the past five decades.
Celebrating five decades in the music business, this English native initially captivated millions of kids in the 60's with his first recordings with The Yardbirds. He drove the rockers mad with his famous guitar licks and dynamic presence on the stage. As Jeff moved on and started a stunning solo career with his first masterpiece Truth (FRM-26413), a few years later The Jeff Beck Group emerged with his friends Cozy Powell (drums), Bob Tench (vocals), Max Middleton (keyboards) and Clive Chaman (bass) recording the monumental supergroup LP Rough And Ready.
The 1971 smash LP kicks things off with the hard rocker Got the Feeling. This radio and fan favorite graced the air- waves on the ever growing FM radio format and helped bolster even further the rest of the Rough And Ready album with follow up hits like the soulful tour de force of Situation featuring a great vocal from future Humble Pie crooner Bob Tench and a stellar keyboard workout from Max Middleton.
More solid numbers from the band include the great medley of New Ways/Train Train, the power ballad rocker Jody, plus the prog-rock champion Max's Tune. All in all, making Beck's third solo effort one of his most revered in his long lasting and huge catalog of classic recordings.
Noted for his stellar guitar work, pretty much introducing new ways of using technique, distortion and effects to a whole new generation of guitar players, Jeff Beck's Rough And Ready is truly a primer for a ton of rock and blues artists.

That is why we are so very proud to announce another fine installment in The Jeff Beck/Friday Music 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Series with his third legendary masterpiece Rough And Ready.

Rough And Ready (Speakers Corner)Great talent and low morals well describes the groupie-loving and colleague-killing Jeff Beck - and no fear of denial! But this fast-paced life demanded its toll, which came in the form of a life-threatening car accident. The ace on the guitar was forced to retire for two years but returned to the scene full of vigour and with new musicians to launch the second Jeff Beck Group.
Rough And Ready doesn't offer what might be expected from Brit Rock as far as a heavy sound or the boss's egomaniacal leaps on the guitar strings are concerned. Bob Tench opens the album with a surprisingly soulful sound and soaring falsetto in Get The Feeling. But then in the next number, Situation, we have crackling fire from the lead guitar and inventive solos - all easy-going and down-to-earth. Beck wouldn't tolerate routine rock: this is obvious from Max's Tune, in which developing melodies are hacked to pieces by the clash of cymbals. To round off the album, the band sings about Jody with constantly varying rhythms and fascinating harmonic twists, which genially and firmly find their way along the narrow path between sentiment and testosterone. So much roughness is a must!

About Speakers Corner
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.
We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.
We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.1. Got the Feeling

Ready To Die (Awaiting Repress)'Ready To Die' is the band's first studio collection since 2007's 'The Weirdness' and the first album of all-new material featuring Iggy Pop, guitarist James Williamson and drummer Scott Asheton since 1973's classic 'Raw Power'. Mike Watt fills in for the late Ron Asheton on bass.
Explaining his decision to make another Iggy And The Stooges album in 2013, Iggy Pop said recently: My motivation in making any record with the group at this point is no longer personal. It's just a pig-headed fucking thing I have that a real fucking group when they're an older group, they also make fucking records. They don't just go and twiddle around on stage to make a bunch of fucking money...
Tracks confirmed to appear include 'Burn', 'Job', 'Sex & Money' and the title track 'Ready To Die'. The album was produced by guitarist Williamson at Fantasy Studios in San Francisco, though Iggy Pop recorded his vocals in Miami.
The album was mixed by Ed Cherney, who revealed last month (January): It's old-time Stooges. It's raw. They're great songs, but not necessarily big choruses. They're the Antichrist of anthems.1. Burn

Ready Player One: Original Motion Picture SoundtrackThe hotly-anticipated soundtrack to "Ready Player One" - Steven Spielberg's science fiction action adventure, based on Ernest Cline's best-selling book of the same name is set for release on vinyl via Water Tower Music. It features a brand-new score by Grammy award-winning composer Alan Silvestri (The Avengers, Back to The Future Trilogy, Forrest Gump)
The film's director/producer Steven Spielberg says, "While all sorts of culturally iconic references populate Ready Player One, the score that Alan Silvestri composed is completely and intoxicatingly original. It's bound together by multiple themes that identify plot and character and is infused by such percussive adrenaline and soaring strings that Alan has made Ready Player One appear to fly. I think his score is fantastic."
Though "Ready Player One" marks their first collaboration on a film directed by Spielberg, Alan Silvestri has scored a number of films produced by the filmmaker, including the "Back to the Future" films. The composer says, "An invitation to travel arrived just about a year ago, not just to a place, but to a time. Actually, to a number of times-primarily the year 2045, along with a few stops in the 80s. A rather detailed map had been drawn by Ernest Cline and the Captain of the voyage, none other than Mr. Spielberg himself. What could one possibly do or say? 40 Blue Fingers, Freshly Packed and Ready to ServeImport
Featuring Christine Perfect (better known as the future Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac) the British ensemble Chicken Shack offers up a solid set of blues-influenced rock on their 1968 LP, fully titled 40 Blue Fingers Freshly Packed And Ready To Serve.
This LP was a promising debut, especially noteworthy for Stan Webb's Freddie King-inspired guitar playing and Christine Perfect's vocals. Webb does justice to his mentor with two instrumentals, King's San-Ho-Zay and his own Webbed Feet, and Christine proves the ideal counterpart: one of the few pianists paying homage to King's longtime collaborator Sonny Thompson.
It remains their finest work; Perfect left the band in 1969 when she married John McVie of Fleetwood Mac. Pianist Paul Raymond, bassist Andy Silvester, and drummer Dave Bidwell all left in 1971 to join Savoy Brown.
The album - with a nice spare sound, typical of Mike Vernon's Blue Horizon label- will be enjoyed again, this time on audiophile vinyl.

Getting Ready...Freddie King is easily one of the most influential blues guitarists of his or any generation. Any blues enthusiast or guitar aficionado would have him ranked high on their list of all-time greats. He was a guitar hero before there was Guitar Hero.
Getting Ready... was King's first of three releases for Shelter Records, Leon Russell's Tulsa-based label. In fact, when Russell first formed Shelter, he reportedly did so partly to play out his vision of recording one of his favorites, Freddie King.
Recorded in October 1970 at the TER-MAR Chess Studios in Chicago and released in 1971, Getting Ready... is proof positive that King was the man and that Shelter Records was one cool label. The record includes a cover of Jimmy Rogers' classic Walking By Myself and King references Rogers also in the lyrics of another track on the record, Living On The Highway. Rogers was the first artist to record for Acoustic Sounds' own APO Records label and the first to appear in concert at Acoustic Sounds' Blue Heaven Studios.
More APO and Blue Heaven tie-ins to Freddie King include Jimmie Lee Robinson, who while living was the veritable soul of APO and Blue Heaven. When King moved from Texas to Southside Chicago around 1950, he formed his first ever band, The Every Hour Blues Boys, with Robinson.
The backing band for Getting Ready... includes the stud cast of Leon Russell on piano and guitars, Duck Dunn on bass, Don Preston on guitar, Jon Gallie on organ, Chuck Blackwell on drums and Charles Myers on drums.
Getting Ready is among the first titles to be pressed at Acoustic Sounds' Quality Record Pressings.

They have a comfortable chemistry, more lo-fi, relaxed, and naturally flowing than what you'll hear from This is Me Smiling. The album's opening track, "Only Gonna Let You Down" is a good example, with sparse and scratchy guitar play, light drumming, and lyrics that follow the train of thought of a wary lover. The act also has a knack for infectious beats, like in "Never Seen Anyone Out There Like You" and "One More."
