    Cork Record Mat

Have a question about this product? Please email our audio advisor or call 1-877-929-8729 with any questions or concerns regarding your equipment purchase.

Kick out the jams with our new cork record mat. Instruments pop to life. Crackle is reduced. Vocals are clearer and more dramatic. The background is quieter, soundstage wider and deeper. How does this thing work? The secret is in the 12 isolation discs surrounding the outside of the mat and the single larger disc for the center label. The discs lift and support the record while floating it above and decoupling it from the platter. This lowers record vibration and reduces acoustic feedback. Stylus tracking is improved and record wear reduced. The mat eliminates the grunge and leaves behind a rich, clear, dynamic sound.

Cork is the perfect material. It sucks up unwanted vibrations and releases the life and energy of the music. It's naturally non-static and non-adhesive making the mat perfectly safe for use on all platters and it won't harm your records. Cork grips the record better than felt so there's less record slippage and fewer timing errors. The mat is thin, lightweight, and generally doesn't require a VTA adjustment. Listen for yourself, the improvement is easy to hear.

Under The Bushes Under The Stars

Under The Bushes Under The Stars is made up of unforgettable riffs, infectious vocal melodies, and little else - hinting at stadium-sized ambitions while keeping the songs themselves human-sized. By remaining tethered to the lo-fi aesthetic but thinking big, Under The Bushes, Under The Stars is propelled by a sense of tension that the band hasn't really explored
    since.

    -Stereogum

In November 1995 Guided By Voices handed in their darkest and most obscure record to date. The 60-odd songs the band had recorded in 24-track studios had all been scrapped. Chief Robert Pollard was adamant about releasing a home-taped album "as is, no compromises, man,"; citing his dissatisfaction with the hi-fi material.

Then Bob changed his mind and went into another 24-track studio and banged out the majority of the songs on Under The Bushes Under The Stars in two days. The results are Guided By Voices' clearest and most ecstatic album to date. A fabulous introductory record for new fans confused by the amount of Guided By Voices catalog in the racks, Under The Bushes also contains new songs to trigger synapses in their devoted core audience.

Hand Numbered Limited Edition Framed Lithographic Print

12 x 5 by The Rolling Stones was their October 1964 release that told the world that they loved the blues and rock 'n roll. The evolution from blues to rock accelerated on this, their second American LP. 12 X 5 included material recorded by the Stones at Chicago's Chess Studios (home to the band's idols Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf) during their first US tour. Though this album of the group's early R&B period kicks off with covers from unsurprising sources (Chuck Berry's Around and Around,) Mick and Keith waste little time in displaying their own compositional acumen.

This highly collectible lithograph and LP set, with a Certificate of Authenticity, is offered on a first-come, first-served basis-no additional copies will be produced after the initial press run is exhausted. Signatures on the printing plates reflect the band's personnel at the time of recording.

Put Your Back N 2 It

Perfume Genius is Mike Hadreas, a Seattle songwriter whose jarring 2010 debut album, Learning, was called an album of rare, redemptive beauty, one of the most uniquely endearing and quietly forceful debut albums of recent years, and established him as one of the most singular songwriters around today.

His new album, Put Your Back N 2 It, is much more universal, addressing intimacy, power, family, secrecy, and hope not just through his impressionistic lyrics, but the music itself, which is as lush as Learning was stark. Its a gorgeous soundtrack for anyone trying to keep it together in everyday life, with interest in moving forward. Recorded by Drew Morgan and John Goodmanson.

    Too Bright

"Hadreas unifies his lyrical and musical ambitions
into the most forthright, ornate, lustrous and 'pop'
moment of his career....sounds like triumph. "
    - Pitchfork on "Queen" BEST NEW TRACK

"Mike Hadreas doesn't so much accept the crown
as snatch it out from the air." - DIY

    "Immeasurably cathartic.... Perfume Genius has
never sounded this furious and confident."
    - Stereogum

Over the course of two astonishing albums, Perfume
Genius, aka Seattle native Mike Hadreas, cemented
his place as a singer-songwriter of rare frankness,
creating songs that, while achingly emotional, offered
empathy and hope, rather than any judgment or
handwringing. Sparse, gorgeous and with Hadreas'
quavering vocals often only accompanied by piano,
they were uncommonly beautiful tales of a life lived
on the dark side - scarred, brutalised, yet ultimately,
    slowly but surely reclaimed.

Too Bright, however, is something else altogether.
Less self-conscious, and less concerned with
storytelling and easily-digested melodies, it is a
    brave, bold, unpredictably quixotic exploration
of what Hadreas calls "an underlying rage that
has slowly been growing since ten and has just
begun to bubble up". Recorded with Adrian Utley
of Portishead and featuring John Parish on several
tracks, it is a stunning about-face which brings to
mind audacious career-shift albums like Kate Bush's
The Dreaming or Scott Walker's Tilt, records which
walk the tightrope between pure songwriting and
    overt experimentation.

    Save Yourself, Start Again

What began as an acoustic side project between the Transit vocalist Joe Boynton and guitarist Vinny Comeau in 2010 between touring has lead to a full-time band over the course of the last year. The duo signed with No Sleep Records in late 2012 and entered the studio with co-producer Gary Cioffi, Jr. (Transit, Misser) in early 2013 to record their first full-length with drummer Aviv Marotz, guitarist Mat Morin and Bassist Mike Moschetto in tow.

Once in the studio Comeau departed the band, leaving the rest of the guys primary reign over the songwriting and direction of the new material, resulting in a bright and airy collection of ten beautiful indie-pop tunes that exhibit a range of styles and moods, from upbeat power-pop to solemn folk, which any fans of bands like Death Cab For Cutie, Circa Survive, Maps & Atlases and Rilo Kiley will undoubtedly adore.

    Silence & Tears

Kent-based sextet Galley Beggar - who take their name from a mischievous spirit in English folklore - describe their mission as 'to imagine the next phase of English folk-rock' on their third album, Silence & Tears. "We've always loved English folk, but when we formed in 2009 it felt like nothing much was happening to carry the style forward," says guitarist Mat Fowler, "so we thought, we love listening to folk-rock and we love playing it - why not try to write something in that vein?"

The results can be heard on their earlier albums, Reformation House and Galley Beggar, and now on Silence & Tears. "Our first record was very folky," reflects Mat, "but since then we've moved towards a more electric rock feel." Indeed, the eight tracks on the new album span traditional song, Gothic balladry and peculiarly British acid rock, the mood alternately fragile and robust, with sweet vocal harmonies (led by Maria O'Donnell), lyrical guitar playing from Mat and his cohort David Ellis, and added texture from the violin of Celine Marshall (calling to mind Mr. Fox's Carolanne Pegg), all anchored by Bill Lynn's steady bass and Paul Dadswell's deft drumming. The material spans reworkings of the ancient classics Geordie and Jack Orion, brooding ballads like Adam & Eve and the otherworldy Empty Sky, and the intense 9-minute epic Pay My Body Home, which triumphantly recalls folk-rock's early 70s glory days.

Silence & Tears may echo centuries of folk tradition, but its crisp, punchy sound is resolutely modern, despite calling on retro flourishes such as phasing, wah-wah and backwards guitar. Much of that is down to the fact that it was recorded at the profoundly analogue Toe Rag studios, where White Stripes, Tame Impala, the Zutons and many others have also worked with renowned producer-engineer Liam Watson. "We made our first two albums ourselves," says Mat, "so this was the first time someone else has produced us. Recording at Toe Rag was just wonderful - to see all that incredible gear at work, and to have a tangible recording experience rather than staring at a screen, was amazing. And watching Liam at work is mesmerising - the sounds he gets onto tape are better than they are in real life!"

In an era when bands such as Trembling Bells, Circulus and Wolf People have brought folk-rock to the fore again, the hypnotic interplay and inspired jamming on Silence & Tears is sure to find an enthusiastic audience. "We've already got a few festivals lined up this summer, including Leigh Folk Festival and Wessex Festival, and several other shows are still being arranged," says Mat. "It's an honour to be compared to other folk-rock bands - but we like to think we've got something of our own to offer too."

    Dub Egg

Following up on last year's acclaimed limited-edition LP for Mexican Summer, the Austin-based quartet The Young (guitarist/vocalist Hans Zimmerman, bassist Jason Costanszo, guitarist Kyle Edwards and drummer Ryan Maloney) make their proper debut with a crafted, explosive record best summed up as "classic Matador meets classic rock."

After a year sharing the stage with Sic Alps, Kurt Vile, Pierced Arrows, Endless Boogie and other masters of modern rock guitar, their meticulous interplay has become both uncanny and unstoppable. Dub Egg is a shimmering, incandescent approach to classic forms that nobody could have imagined from these guys a couple years ago. The album carries echos of Crazy Horse, Television, Quicksilver Messenger Service, the Dream Syndicate as well as the aforementioned.

Recorded in a woodland cabin, all-analog and self-produced, this exceptionally beautiful sounding rock album, to be released on Matador Records, is the sort of expansive, guitar masterclass (never at the expense of terrific songs, mind you) they've only hinted at previously.

    Villains

Housed In a Gatefold With Two Inner Sleeves & A Lyric Sheet

Etching On Side 4 (No Music)

The title Villains isn't a political statement. It has nothing to do with Trump or any of that shit. It's simply 1) a word that looks fantastic and 2) a comment on the three versions of every scenario: yours, mine and what actually happened Everyone needs someone or something to rail against-their villain-same as it ever was. You can't control that. The only thing you can really control is when you let go.-Joshua Homme

Hundreds of epic shows, memory lapses, unexplained injuries, one yearlong detour with Iggy Pop and multiple Grammy nominations later, Queens Of The Stone Age reemerge from the desert newly scarred and somehow strangely prettier with lucky seventh album, Villains, set for release on Matador Records.

Produced by Mark Ronson and co-produced by Mark Rankin and mixed by Alan Moulder, Villains is the first full album offering from Queens Of The Stone Age since 2013's Like Clockwork gave the band its first #1 albumin the U.S. Like the stunning artwork of returning illustrator Boneface, the sonic signatures of the lineup that took Like Clockwork around the world and back are as unmistakable as ever, though coexisting with sufficient new twists to induce recurring double takes. As Homme himself puts it, The most important aspect of making this record was redefining our sound, asking and answering the question 'what do we sound like now?' If you can't make a great first record, you should just stop-but if you can make a great record but you keep making records and your sound doesn't evolve, you become a parody of that original sound.

Longtime Queens cohort co-producer Mark Rankin added, After the baptism of fire that was Like Clockwork,I was excited to get into the studio again with the challenge of pushing the sound for this record, especially with the addition of Ronson into the creative mix What we've made is forward looking yet unmistakably Queens.

Fold Your Hands Child You Walk Like a Peasant

Belle & Sebastian's songs have always been instantly familiar while simultaneously original and unexpected. Listening to Belle & Sebastian, you have the inexplicable feeling that you have heard these songs somewhere before, filed away with the mothballs of your youth, or that, maybe, you have stumbled upon long-lost tapes of a young Nick Drake being backed by Village Green Preservation Society-era Kinks under the production of some low-rent Phil Spector. The fact that Belle & Sebastian have arrived at their distinct, anachronistic sound quite naturally and by accident is a large part of their charm. It's not surprising, then, that Belle & Sebastian's fourth full-length record, Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like a Peasant, has arrived with the band's sincerity intact. What is surprising, however, is the record itself: an eclectic mix of the soulful and the sublime, something of a departure for the band. Unlike their last record, the amazing Boy with the Arab Strap, the songs here are not instantly recognizable, but more subtle. The hooks don't automatically grab; instead, the songs' intent is to break you down, seeping into your bloodstream and working on you from the inside out like an infection.

The eclectic feel of the record owes itself to the fact that this is, by far, Belle & Sebastian's most record by committee affair yet, with songwriting contributions from several different band members and songs that seem to have been built up from simple ideas into lush orchestral pieces with the musical input of the band's many different instrumentalists. While Stuart Murdoch still writes and sings the bulk of the material, he collaborates with bandmates on a number of songs, including the delicately soulful Don't Leave the Light on Baby, written with keyboardist Chris Geddes. Unfortunately, songs by Belle & Sebastian cofounder and bassist Stuart David are not to be found on Fold Your Hands (he left the band during the recording). However, violinist Sarah Martin contributes her first song with the haunting Waiting for the Moon to Rise, while cellist Isobel Campbell adds the record's most surprising track, Beyond the Sunrise, sounding like a lost Leonard Cohen gem with its spare and fragile arrangement. Guitarist Stevie Jackson, who contributed some of the better songs on Arab Strap, manages only one on this outing, but it's one of the best: The Wrong Girl, a tale of misplaced love juxtaposed against swinging Spector- like strings and horns. By the time the band reaches Women's Realm, an infectious, life-affirming romp, the record's message, although never spelled out, is clear: Through all the melancholy and solitude and terrible things that could go wrong, life is still worth fighting for. --Paul Ducey

    The Best Day

The Best Day, Thurston Moore's first solo record since
2011's Demolished Thoughts, radiates with both
his signature dynamism of dense thrashing electric
guitars as well as blissful 12-string acoustic ballads.
Recorded with Thurston's current band line-up of
James Sedwards (guitars, UK), Deb Googe (of My
Bloody Valentine, bass, UK) and Steve Shelley (Sonic
Youth, drums, USA), there are also a some tracks that
    feature all instrumentation by Thurston.

Thurston Moore has been at the forefront of the
alternative rock scene since that particular obriquet
was first used to signify any music that challenged
and defied the mainstream standard. He is the
founder and ringleader of Sonic Youth, the band
that turned on an entire generation to the value of
experimentation in rock n' roll - from its inspiration
on a nascent Nirvana, to Sonic Youth's own Daydream
Nation album being chosen by the US Library of
Congress for historical preservation in the National
    Recording Registry in 2006.

This is a record defined by positivity and radical
love. The songs range from opener "Speak to the
    Wild", a Crazy Horse-like paean to anti-authority
and activism, to "Vocabularies", a paean to a new
realization of language which includes ALL people.

    b'lieve i'm goin down...

Kurt Vile does his own myth making; a boy/man with an old soul voice in the age of digital everything becoming something else, which is why this focused, brilliantly clear and seemingly candid record is a breath of fresh air. Recorded and mixed in a number of locations, including Los Angeles and Joshua Tree, b'lieve I'm goin' down... is a handshake across the country, east to west coast, thru the dustbowl history ("valley of ashes") of woody honest strait forward talk guthrie , and a cali canyon dead still nite floating in a nearly waterless landscape. The record is all air, weightless, bodyless, but grounded in convincing authenticity, in the best version of singer songwriter upcycling. In Kurt's words, "I wanted to get back into the habit of writing a sad song on my couch, with nobody waiting on me. I really wanted it to sound like it's on my couch -- not in a lo-fi way, just more unguarded and vulnerable." It's a weird, accepting, mature record, acknowledging the inherent immaturity of being a person whether father, husband , partner, adult, musician, not perfect, but compelling for its understanding that's life though so sad to say - Kim Gordon
