    The Moonlight Butterfly

In January of 2011 Sam Prekop, Archer Prewitt, John McEntire, and Eric Claridge reconvened at Chicago's Soma Electronic Music Studios to record their latest release The Moonlight Butterfly.

This 33 minute mini-album finds the band delivering much more long form and cinematic pieces. The new songs lean upon the band's more experimental tendencies, taking time to stretch the forms and in someways the new material relates to the way the band re-interprets some of their songs live.

With the band making a shorter than usual record they were allowed to take more chances and ended up with a release that leans a bit more towards the instrumental. Rather than having the vocals be the sole focal point the shifts in emphasis to other instruments facilitated a more open approach.

    Smoking Kills

The Disciplines are made up of three Norwegians, ex-members of Nordic pop success story Briskeby, and one American, Ken Stringfellow, whose extensive resume includes founding one of the '90s most critically acclaimed bands, the Posies. Smoking Kills is snarly, but catchy; direct, but not dumb; winky but not snarky. The songs race by in brutal efficiency, and within the garage-y production you might miss the delicate smattering of wordplay tucked in amongst the singalong choruses.

    Remember (Awaiting Repress)

Hot off the heels of their critically acclaimed Thrill Jockey release Widow City, Matthew and Eleanor Friedberger, the sibling duo that makes up the core of The Fiery Furnaces, one of the most prolific and unique bands in music, have put together a Triple LP live album entitled Remember which collects songs from their entire catalog and performances across the globe starting in 2005. The album captures the high energy, intricate complexity, amazing vocal acrobatics of Eleanor and the technical musicianship that defines a Fiery Furnaces performance. The Fiery Furnaces reconstruct and re-arrange their songs for each tour, going to great lengths to create versions that vary greatly from the recorded versions in tempo, instrumentation and arrangements. Featuring 51 tracks, Remember is being issued in this Triple LP vinyl version housed in a custom made old-style tip-on gatefold jacket with a pasted in flap to hold the third LP and a coupon to download the album in MP3. Carry Fire

Carry Fire, Robert Plant's eleventh solo album and first full-length release since 2014's acclaimed lullaby and... The Ceaseless Roar, was produced by Plant in the west of England and Wales, at Top Cat studio in Box, Wiltshire with additional recordings at Real World and Rockfield studios. As with lullaby, Plant is accompanied by The Sensational Space Shifters: John Baggott on keyboards, moog, loops, percussion, drums, brass arrangement, t'bal, snare drum, slide guitar, piano, electric piano, bendir; Justin Adams on guitar, acoustic guitar, oud, E-bow quartet, percussion, snare drum, tambourine; Dave Smith on bendir, tambourine, djembe, drum kit; and Liam Skin Tyson on dobro, guitar, acoustic guitar, pedal steel, twelve-string.

Plant and the Space Shifters are also joined on Carry Fire by a number of special guests. Chrissie Hynde joins Plant on the duet Bluebirds Over the Mountain (written by rockabilly legend Ersel Hickey and later recorded by both Richie Valens and The Beach Boys). Albanian cellist Redi Hasa performs on three tracks, as does the celebrated Seth Lakeman on viola and fiddle.

Plant and the Space Shifters (which now includes Lakeman) celebrate Carry Fire's release by beginning a world tour in November 2017 starting in UK & Ireland and touring all corners of globe from thereon.

Plant and the band spent two years on the road together supporting lullaby and... The Ceaseless Roar, their unique sound and vision ultimately evolving into something even more creative and powerful.

Plant, who lived in Texas for a time before returning to his native England three years ago, together with his friends, present the songs Carry Fire, melding unusual rhythms with naturalism and smoldering power.

It's about intention, I respect and relish my past works but each time I feel the lure and incentive to create new work. I must mix old with new. Consequently the whole impetus of the band has moved on its axis somewhat, the new sound and different space giving way to exciting and dramatic landscapes of mood, melody and instrumentation.

    Dock Of The Bay

Ranked 161/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

When Otis Redding recorded (Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay in late 1967, the singer knew that the song was a milestone in his creative evolution. But before Redding got the chance to explore his new direction, he was killed, along with most of his backup band the Bar-Kays, in a plane crash while on tour. Released just a few weeks after his death, the song shot to Number One on the Pop and R&B charts, eventually winning Redding a pair of posthumous Grammy awards. The album bearing the song's title was assembled by the singer's frequent collaborator Steve Cropper, who played guitar on nearly all of Otis' Stax sessions as well as co-writing Dock of the Bay and countless other songs with Redding. Drawing mainly from unreleased and little-heard tracks spanning Redding's three-year Stax career, the album demonstrates the depth and breadth of his talent, while hinting at what might have been. This exact reproduction of this original Stax label LP is mastered from the original stereo tapes and pressed on pristine High-Definition vinyl.

    Soul Dressing

Following up their smash debut album Green Onions, 1965s Soul Dressing keeps the MGs party going in fine fashion. From the first smack of Al Jacksons crisp-as-a-potato-chip snare attack, the groove never lets up on these 12 original tracks. Guitarists will want to pay special attention to Steve Croppers aggressive, proto-fuzz/funk Telecastering (as surely, Jimi Hendrix, Ernie Isley and Billy Gibbons were all doing at the time). Add to that mix the cooking organ and high-voltage electric piano of Booker T. and rock salt-steady bass lines of original MG bassist Lewie Steinberg and youll have a dressing fit for any occasion. Hungry yet?

Want to mix up this dressing at home? First, youll need to pick up the original, done-to-perfection Stax Records analog master tapes. While stirring steadily, add a high-definition dose of the freshest vinyl available. Bake at 33 1/3 degrees until done to high glossy finish. And Now!

And Now!, Booker T. & the MGs third album, marked a major change in the bands lineup with Donald Duck Dunn replacing Lewie Steinberg on bass. The addition of Dunns funkier style is in full evidence on tracks like In the Midnight Hour and Think, the latter song also featuring blistering Telecaster licks from six-string stalwart Steve Cropper. The balance of the album includes original songs , like Top Twenty R&B single My Sweet Potato, and current chart hits, done in that inimitable MG style. With Booker T.s evocative keyboard lines and Al Jacksons propulsive percussion, this was a band of individual virtuosos that became an even greater whole. And nowget ready for the soul jam!

Now heavily influenced by the earth-shaking creations of two master musicians -John Coltrane and Ravi Shankar-the Byrds began recording their new single, Eight Miles High and Why, along with tracks for their upcoming album Fifth Dimension at Columbia Studios in Hollywood. Growing more confident by the day in their studio acumen and songwriting skills, the Byrds logged long nights of hypnotic in-studio jamming, then hammered the white-hot magma into songs that will live forever. McGuinn's solos soared as never before, his technique now fusing the familiar, melodic overtones of the Rickenbacker 12-string with a powerfully new staccato dissonance absorbed from the majestic saxophone of John Coltrane. Michael Clarke's drumming never sounded better, his Elvin Jones-like cymbal splashes and rolling-tom thunder driving the band like an atomic generator approaching critical mass. Chris Hillman's swooping bass lines took on a McCartney-esque timbre that filled in every corner of the canvas with bold, melodic strokes. But it was perhaps David Crosby, playing in a brashly percussive way no one had ever heard before from a rhythm guitarist, who best digested and interpreted the Eastern influences of the day: the ragas and talas of Ravi Shankar. Crosby's contribution to Fifth Dimensionwas as outspoken and defiant as the man, himself. Acreative zenith in the Byrds' career, these fascinating sessions deserve closer scrutiny than they've previously been afforded. Alternate instrumental takes and extended experimental workouts give essential insight here into the songs' final versions. Also included are early versions of songs before the addition of any studio sweetening-strings, percussion or sound effects. To top things off, we've included a small handful of unique finds that give a fly-on-the-wall glimpse into the creation of one of the most important records of our time.

    The Columbia Singles '67

When Mr. Tambourine Man first rumbled out of car radio speakers in 1965, it was a pivotal moment in pop history. With its jangling 12-string and epic sweep, it was the dawn of a new day: the birth of folk-rock.
And the Byrds were just getting started. The next two years saw one hit after another, from the Biblical prophesies of Turn, Turn, Turn to the raga-rock of Eight Miles High, from the exotic orchestration of So You Want To Be A Rock 'N' Roll Star to the Byrds bringing it all back home with My Back Pages.
Here they are again, 30 landmark recordings in their perfectly constructed, radio-friendly mono mixes: the forgotten rarities, withdrawn singles and, of course, all the original A and B-sides. No one has ever had a stronger run of singles than did the Byrds in their prime. No one.

    Mr. Tambourine Man (MONO)

Ranked 232/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

The Byrds burst upon an already fertile pop/rock music scene in the spring of 1965 with a stunning retooling of Bob Dylan's Mr. Tambourine Man that changed everything. The debut album of the same name that followed, featuring mindblowing folk-rock gems like The Bells Of Rhymney, I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better and Chimes Of Freedom, was so aromatically intoxicating it even lit a fire under the Beatles across the Atlantic, beavering away on Rubber Soul. The Mr. Tambourine Man longplayer is so bountiful it almost doubles as a Byrds greatest hits, volume one. Here Without You and I Knew Id Want You weave a sense of mystery into the Byrds' eerie harmonic tapestry. And All I Want To Do, along with Spanish Harlem Incident, once again, connect Dylan's magic to the pop charts in a way only McGuinn, Crosby, Clark, Hillman and Clarke could pull off.

Unavailable for over 40 years, we're proud to present the first ever reissue of this monumental recording in its original, highly-sought-after mono incarnation, cut directly from the original Columbia Recordings analog mono masters, with perfect artwork restoration and meticulously faithful mastering.
