Johnny Cash Greatest Hits Volume 1 (Awaiting Repress)First Time on Audiophile Vinyl
Gatefold Cover presentation of his classic 1967 multi-platinum Greatest Hits LP!!!
Mastered impeccably by Joe Reagoso and Kevin Gray from the original Columbia Records tapes
Manufactured at R.T.I.
Johnny Cash was born during the great depression into a poor family in Arkansas. At a very young age he worked on the family farm
and experienced many of life's struggles. This is also the time he would develop his love for music, family and the Bible, which followed him
closely throughout his long career. In the early fifties after spending time in the Air Force, he moved to Memphis, became friends with folks
like Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis, and ultimately cut some sides at Sun Studios which became the catalyst
that would kick-start the beginnings of a soon to be worldwide superstar, troubadour and humanitarian unlike the world has ever known.
The folks at Columbia Records knew that this young fellow named Johnny Cash was destined for superstardom. They quickly signed
the legend to a long term deal, and his first Columbia singles like his prolific Don't Take Your Guns to Town forever etched "The Man In Black"
trademark to his name.
In 1967 after many chart topping country and pop albums and a bevy of hit singles and Grammy Awards, more fame followed as the
brass at Columbia Records honored their journeyman Johnny Cash with his first hits collection, the multi-platinum Johnny Cash's Greatest
Hits Volume 1.
The album was a blockbuster as it topped the charts, making this a crossover hit with both country and pop audiences, proving once again that his career was of historic merit.
Filled with more hits than a roadside jukebox, the amazing album takes off with the classic duet with wife June Carter Cash and
Grammy Award winner Jackson. This chart topping single is followed up by one of his most famous songs the number one I Walk the Line.
More treasures follow with the country belter Understand Your Man and Cash's own hit interpretation of Orange Blossom Special, which truly
made the album a treasure trove of hits.
More greatest hits follow as the LP features a nice helping of solid smashes like Ring of Fire, Five Feet High and Rising, the aforementioned Don't Take Your Guns to Town, and probably one of the first Bob Dylan covers ever with his haunting It Ain't Me Babe. In total, the
album showcases eleven important Johnny Cash recordings which have truly gone on to become international classics for all time.

The set includes such favorites as "Story of my Life," "Don't Drag Me Down," "Bad Luck," "Mommy's Little Monster" and a cover of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire." Press OnJune Carter Cash has lived a charmed life: as a child member of her name-sake kin, The Carter Family, late-night duets with Elvis Presley, a movie appearance with Robert Duvall, romance with James Dean, and a Grammy Award-winning performing and songwriting career with her husband Johnny Cash.
But, to hear her sing such moving hymns as Diamonds in the Rough is to enjoy the holy, country hospitality of a simple countrywoman of a pure and spiritual heart. On Press On are other such gems as a touching, acoustic version of Ring of Fire, which June co-wrote. Throughout this album, June plays the Autoharp, a type of strummed dulcimer that lends a light, bouncy feel to these pieces that often contain no traditional rhythm section. She displays a worldly sensibility on such folk-rock numbers as the bitter Losin You and humor mixed with wisdom in Tiffany Anastasia Lowe,a song for her granddaughter, the child of daughter Carlene Carter and husband Nick Lowe. June concludes this warm and personal release as she began it, with a moving spiritual rendition of her familys standard, Will the Circle Be Unbroken.
Press On was originally released in 1999 on the tiny Risk Records label. The album immediately garnered tremendous press accolades, culminating with a Grammy award that year. Risk Records went under shortly after release and Press On has been out of print ever since. Dualtone is proud to make this album available on vinyl for the very first time. FamilialWhen you're the same age as the Prime Minister, you think, I'd better get on with this, Philip Selway grins as he acknowledges the new sea change in British politics but popularity is generally a passing phase while your first album, that's forever. Knowing time waits for no one, he has delivered Familial, a collection of sublimely fragile, haunting, and heartfelt songs that will surprise many, and not only because drummers traditionally don't do this kind of thing. Familial is so persuasively good, it sounds like Selway has always been a singer-songwriter.
It's a sideline solo project, mind. The morning he talks about his record for the very first time, he still has to leave for a rehearsal down the road by an acclaimed Oxford-based band, named Radiohead, for whom Selway has drummed immaculately and imaginatively for the last 20 years. And with the admission, It's a cardinal sin for drummers to come in to rehearsals with the comment I've got this song'! he knows the time has come for his songs, put on ice when drumming took over in his late teens, to emerge into the light.
Listeners to Familial will immediately recognize the ring of absolute truth, melodies and words fired by emotions, and not a whiff of dilettante posturing. In truth, what truly ignited Selway's efforts to record wasn't Britain's political transformation but the loss of his mother in 2006. It was one of those watershed moments that shake everything up, and you get a greater sense of urgency on what you want to do in life, he says.1. By Some Miracle

WyomingWater Liars, the duo of Justin Kinkel-Schuster and Andrew Bryant, present their sophomore album Wyoming. Recorded in their now-hometown of Water Valley, MS in late September, Wyoming will be Water Liars' second LP released in just under a year. At the core of the album are stories of specific, intimate moments that can't help but ring universally true. The band favors simplicity and ample space in their songs, while Justin Kinkel-Schuster's clear, plaintive vocals add to Wyoming's warm yet heartsick expanse. The album ranges musically from contemplative, bluesy waltzes (Backbone) to lonely, tempered howls (Fake Heat); from soulful, heartached swings (Cut A Line, You Work Days I Work Nights) to upbeat, but wistful resignations (Linens). Lovers KnowAfter touring the world as a member of the Postal Service in 2013, Laura Burhenn (The Mynabirds) took a year to get lost. She drove across the US twice, toured South Africa solo, made her first appearance in London (also solo), and trekked all over Europe with William Faulkner's words ringing in her ears: "You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose sight of the shore." Finally she found herself in Los Angeles with a suitcase of songs to fill a whole new album. Lovers Know, The Mynabirds' third full-length release, was produced by Bradley Hanan Carter (Black English) and recorded over a yearlong period in Los Angeles, Joshua Tree, Nashville, and Auckland, New Zealand. It's definitely new territory for Burhenn, forging into 80s, 90s and futuristic soundscapes, recalling Kate Bush, Sinead O'Connor, The Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine and even 90s hip hop and R&B. The album may be loaded with a fresh palette of new sounds (swarms of synths, gauzy electric guitars, and electronic drums), but her brooding, unmistakable voice leads the way. Lyrically this is her most personal and confessional work to date, and also her most accessible. Whereas her last album, GENERALS, watched from a wide angle to understand the world at a distance, Lovers Know pulls in close. "There's something about wandering the world over," Laura says, "that makes you realize how similar we all are - everyone searching for something, so often the same thing: love. It may sound trite, but it's true. Love - or the lack of it - is the thing we all have in common. It can destroy us. It can break us open and let the light in. And it's also the thing that can make us sing." Burhenn has released two previous albums as The Mynabirds on Saddle Creek, What We Lose in the Fire We Gain in the Flood (2010) and GENERALS (2012), both of which were produced by Richard Swift and met by critical acclaim.1. The Genius Sings the BluesNumbered Limited-Edition 180g LP from Mobile Fidelity
1961 Collection Gathers 12 Must-Have Songs from Charles' Peak Era
Mobile Fidelity Has Righted the Sonic Wrongs That Plagued Earlier Versions - You Won't Find a Better-Sounding Ray Charles LP
Genius doesnt even begin to describe the greatness of The Genius Sings the Blues. Comprised of a dozen songs Ray Charles made between 1952 and 1960, the collection was released in 1961 by Atlantic Records to counter the singers migration to rival ABC Paramount. What Atlantic originally underestimated is that the album contained many of Charles greatest works, all unified by their bluesy emotions and stirring arrangements. A classic of the soul and R&B canon, The Genius Sings the Blues is a snapshot of the evolution of timeless American music captured by the pianists indelible rhythmic pace, gospel roots, jazz backgrounds, and Southern-styled accents. And its never sounded so good.
From the iconic cover art (a photo of Charles taken by legendary photographer Lee Friedlander) to the distinguished music within, everything about the thematic record is iconic. Now, nearly 50 years later, it can be heard in pristine fidelity sourced from the original mono master tapes. Mobile Fidelitys engineers have taken great pains to ensure that every clink of the piano keys, ache of Charles rolling voice, and rush of the backing arrangements sounds better than they have since first being recorded in the studio. This 180g LP simply lays waste to the competition.
Previous editions of The Genius Sings the Blues, including a remastered digital edition from Rhino, suffered from varying levels, distracting static and noise, and inconsistent vocal balances. Mobile Fidelity has gone back to the original mono master tapes to correct these problems, giving music lovers what is now unquestionably the best-sounding Charles album to stem from his peak era. And these performances are simply on fire.
Whether inhabiting the sadness in Night Time (Is the Right Time) or personifying the loss of Hard Times, Charles invests each song with supreme emotion and undeniable conviction that makes the lyrics ring true and the blues resonate with cathartic pathos. Uptempo country blues numbers (Im Movin On, Early in the Mornin) balance the mournful slow fare, and again prove Charles a master composer, interpreter, and musician who could make any style his own. The Genius Sings the Blues also speaks to legendary jazz pianist Billy Taylors initial impressions of Charles upon hearing him in a way in which few other Charles recordings do.
Taylor recalled: While playing through some new music for a projected Ruth Brown record date, I was asked to listen to an original song played and sung by a young composer and pianist from Seattle, Washington. I can still remember how surprised I was to hear this kind of music from a Northwesterner. He reminded me of Charles Brown, another pianist-singer who was very popular in the Forties, but he had a very personal sound and there was something different about his rhythmic approach. In his handling of melody he seemed to be using devices similar to those used by Dinah Washington and a small group of popular singers who allowed their gospel singing backgrounds to influence their interpretation of popular songs... I was intrigued by the emotional quality projected by both his piano playing and his unusual voice and was not surprised when Ahmet ErtegÜn said that he wanted to let the young musician record some of his own material. He communicates just like the old blues singers, Ahmet said.
Indeed, that innate blues aesthetic dominates this collection, as does Charles distinctive rhythmic mannerisms. Finally, hear them as theyve always been intended to be experienced.

Twerp VerseNecessary brattiness is the motto for Speedy Ortiz's dauntless new collection of songs, Twerp Verse. The follow-up to 2015's Foil Deer, the band's latest indie rock missive is prompted by a tidal wave of voices, no longer silent on the hurt they've endured from society's margins. But like many of these truth-tellers, songwriter, guitarist and singer Sadie Dupuis scales the careful line between what she calls being outrageous and practical in order to be heard at all.
You need to employ a self-preservational sense of humor to speak truth in an increasingly baffling world, says Dupuis. I call it a 'twerp verse' when a musician guests on a track and says something totally outlandish - like a Lil Wayne verse - but it becomes the most crucial part. This record is our own twerp verse, for those instances when you desperately need to stand up and show your teeth."
Twerp Verse was tracked in Brooklyn DIY space Silent Barn, mixed by Omaha legend Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Rilo Kiley) and mastered by Grammy-nominated engineer Emily Lazar (Sia, Haim, Beck). The record pulls from the most elastic pop moments in Squeeze's Argybargy and the seesawing synth-rock of Deerhoof and the Rentals. With Dupuis on guitars, vocals, and synths, supporting guitarist Andy Molholt (of psych-pop outfit Laser Background) now joins Speedy veterans Darl Ferm on bass and Mike Falcone on drums - and together they accelerate the band's idiosyncrasy through the wilderness of Dupuis' heady reflections on sex, lies and audiotape.
Dupuis, who both earned an MFA in poetry and taught at UMass Amherst, propels the band's brain-teasing melodies with her serpentine wit. Inspired by the cutting observations of Eve Babitz, Aline Crumb's biting memoirs, and the acute humor of AstroPoet Dorothea Lasky, Dupuis craftily navigates the danger zone that is building intimacy and political allyship in 2018. Now as public pushback against the old guards reaches a fever pitch - in the White House, Hollywood and beyond - the band fires shots in disillusioned Gen Y theme Lucky 88, and casts a side-eye towards suitors-turned-monsters in the cold-blooded single Villain. Closing track You Hate The Title is a slinky traipse through the banality of this current moment in patriarchy - in which survivors are given the mic, but nitpicked over the timbre of their testimonies. You hate the title, but you're digging the song, Dupuis sings wryly, You like it in theory, but it's rubbing you wrong. Tuned smartly to the political opacity of the present, Twerp Verse rings clear as a bell.1. Buck Me Off

AntisocialitesAntisocialites is the much-anticipated follow-up to Alvvays' 2014 self-titled debut. Across its 10 tracks and 33 minutes the Toronto-based group dive back into the deep end of reckless romance and altered dates. Through thoughtful consideration in basement and abroad, Alvvays has renewed its Scot-pop vows with a powerful new collection of manic emotional collage.
The album opens with the excellent strum-'n-thrummer 'In Undertow,' a hi-amp breakup fantasy that is both crushing and charming for its level-headedness. You find a wave and try to hold on for as long as you can, you made a mistake you'd like to erase and I understand, sings Rankin, her voice full longing not for another person necessarily, but for what to do next. Meditate, play solitaire, take up self-defense, Molly continues, laundry-listing some strategies for moving on. What's next for you and me? I'll take suggestions, she deadpans under crashing waves of feedback and Farfisa.
Replete with more songs about drinking ('Forget About Life,' 'Hey'), drugging ('Lollipop (Ode To Jim)'), and drowning ('Already Gone'), Antisocialites is a multipolar period piece fueled by isolation and loss. Perversely enjoyable dark drama springs from Rankin's phonetic twists, quick-sung rhymes and irreverent syllable-play. So morose for me, seeing ghosts of me, writing oaths to me, the self-described introvert sings on the Cocteau-pop stunner 'Dreams Tonite,' the song from which the album's name is derived. In fluorescent light, antisocialites watch a wilting flower.
Antisocialites details a world of ice cream truck jingles and radiophonic workshop noise, where Rankin's shining wit is refracted through crystalline counterpoint. 'Not My Baby' is a centerpiece, a meditation on the rapture of escape following the sadness of separation. Elsewhere, 'Plimsoll Punks' is the band's answer to Television Personalities' 'Part-Time Punks' and a winking surf opus indictment of the self-righteous who intend to condescend. Molly wrote the rapid-fire sugar stream 'Lollipop (Ode to Jim)' after singing 'Just Like Honey' with Jesus and Mary Chain. 'Your Type' is a beautiful primitive stomp about running around Paris with vomit on your feet post-Louvre ejection.
The record concludes with a movement that is at once stark and celebratory. On 'Forget About Life,' the apartment stands in disarray as undrinkable wine is inhaled: When the failures of the past multiply and you trivialize the things that keep your hand from mine, did you want to forget about life with me tonite? The resonant freaks in Rankin's tales don't find much resolve, but with equal doses of black humor and heartstring-tugging, Antisocialites rings a truer tone.1. In Undertow

"Carefully crafted, perfectly balanced, addictively
melodic" - ROCK-A-ROLLA
"In cold surroundings, moments of warmth arrive
with life-affirming brightness, and that's what
makes Siskiyou's music so memorable" - BLURT
Siskiyou returns with Nervous, a majestic album of carefully constructed art rock
built around songwriter and lead singer Colin Huebert's stacked acoustic guitars
and intimate, whispery vocals. Siskiyou's sound has been previously dubbed a sort
of 'Northern Gothic', conjuring cold winds and the life-saving warmth of temporary
shelters and tiny hearth fires. With Nervous, the band continues to push beyond
the crisp lo-fi intimacy of its early work, and has forged its most confident and
finely-crafted recording to date, moving fully into auteur and chamber-pop
territory with a song cycle that brings to mind the meticulousness of mood and
sonics found in recent work by PJ Harvey, Nick Cave and Tindersticks. Inflected
by an anxious, sussurant restraint, Huebert's voice is supported by the falsetto
backing vocal counterpoint and economical instrumentation of bandmates Erik
Arnesen, Peter Carruthers and Shaunn Watt. Fans of the understated and
underrated 1990s group Swell may also hear a welcome evocation of that group's
acoustic guitar-driven simplicity and austere deployment of adornments.
Following Siskiyou's excellent sophomore release Keep Away The Dead in 2011,
Huebert became afflicted with a serious inner ear condition that eluded
conventional diagnosis. While honouring a previously-scheduled songwriting
residency in Dawson City, Yukon in winter 2012, Huebert found himself grappling
with severe anxiety and an unwelcome interiority, engendered by hyperacusis and
a house that felt utterly haunted. Intense chronic ear-ringing and panic attacks
continued throughout the year, for which conventional medicine was unable to find
any cause or effective treatment; Huebert began focusing on meditation, retreated to
silence for a period, and then began rehearsing his new songs with the band at
extremely low volumes. The songs on Nervous are shot through with the entirety of
this experience: the literal feeling of being trapped in one's head and the physica-lpsychological
feedback loop of debilitating anxiety; the lyrical themes and tense,
whispered singing amidst tightly-wrought compositions and arrangements.
Huebert found solace in new working methods within the controlled environment
of studio-based production and composition, developing new sonic palettes and
pursuing new avenues of instrumental arrangement and recording fidelity.
Working with producer/engineer Leon Taheny (Owen Pallett/Final Fantasy, Dusted,
Austra) on most of Nervous, Siskiyou has emerged with by far its most assured,
ambitious and authoritative recordings, while preserving the economy of elements,
deft structures, and assiduous melodic deliberation for which the band has been
rightly celebrated over its two previous albums. In charting escape paths from his
disquieting cranial confinement, Huebert has very much succeeded in setting his
songs out on an expansive canvas, while preserving a palpable sense of nervous
interiority and quiet desperation at their heart.1. Deserter
