Founded By Front Man Ronnie James Dio

Elf was an American rock band founded by singer and bassist Ronnie James Dio, keyboardist Doug Thaler, drummer Gary Driscoll, and guitarists Nick Pantas and David Feinstein (Dio's cousin). The band was originally called The Electric Elves, but was shortened to The Elves and finally Elf in 1972. Elf disbanded in 1975 after recording three albums and after most of the lineup had been absorbed into Ritchie Blackmore's new group, Rainbow.

Ronnie James Dio went on to a successful career in heavy metal, fronting Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell, and his own band, Dio. David Feinstein also found a career in metal, leading the band The Rods for a number of years. Original keyboardist Doug Thaler went on to a career in music management.

Recorded while the band was evolving slowly into the Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, Trying to Burn the Sun is the third and final release from Elf, the band that finally earned Ronnie James Dio the attention he had been seeking since the late 50s. After writing and recording a few singles for Blackmore, Dio and Elf were solidly moving in a heavier musical direction.

Trying to Burn the Sun is a great listen for all fans of 70s rock, not only Dio and Rainbow fans.

    Bent Out Of Shape (Discontinued)

Bent Out Of Shape was the seventh and last studio album released by Rainbow before Ritchie Blackmore and Roger Glover took part in the Deep Purple reformation. It was originally released in 1983 as an LP and cassette. This album is generally referred to in reviews as a commercial effort by the band, attempting to repeat the success of the song Stone Cold and the album Straight Between the Eyes. As a result, some of the songs, like the first single released from this album, Street of Dreams, are usually considered to be more in the album-oriented rock style, instead of the hard rock sound of earlier Rainbow albums.

    Slaves And Masters

    Import

'Slaves and Masters' is the thirteenth studio album by Deep Purple, and was released in 1990. Deep Purple went through more than their share of personnel changes over the years.

In 1990, their lineup consisted of guitarist Ritchie Blackmore (who had returned to the Purple fold in 1984 after leaving the band to form Rainbow following the release of Stormbringer in November 1974), singer Joe Lynn Turner(who was once the lead singer of Rainbow), keyboardist/organist Jon Lord, drummer Ian Paice, and bassist Roger Glover. Longtime Purple followers where more than happy with the return of Blackmore. King Of Dreams, The Cut Runs Deep, and Fire In The Basement are all classic Deep Purple tracks. Blackmore's guitar solos and Lord's keyboard runs harp back to the Deep Purple of old.

The album sounds like a cross between a Rainbow and a Deep Purple album. Now available again on Heavy 180 gram vinyl with an insert.
