    Ritual

In This Moment's sixth studio album, RITUAL, will be released via Atlantic Records in partnership with Roadrunner Records.

Produced by longtime collaborator - and multiple GRAMMY® Award nominee - Kevin Churko (Five Finger Death Punch, Ozzy Osbourne), RITUAL sees In This Moment pushing their inimitably dark sound forward with a provocative sense of pervading doom and metallic blues power.

Highlights include a dramatic reimagination of Phil Collins' classic "In The Air Tonight" as well as "Black Wedding," a walk down the aisle of musical madness that sees lead singer Maria Brink sharing the mic with legendary Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford.

"It's like we're going into the next realm," says Brink. "I had a conviction of feeling empowered in my life and with myself. I always write from a personal place, and I needed to share that sense of strength. I've never been afraid to hold back. Sometimes, I can be very suggestive. However, I wanted to show our fans that this is the most powerful side of myself and it's without overt sexuality. It's that deeper serious fire inside of my heart."

"When fans hear this, I want them to feel the music, whether they take away sadness, anger, or happiness," adds lead guitarist Chris Howorth. "As a kid, I remember listening to records and putting them on repeat over and over again. I'd love for the world to listen and absorb this as a piece of work."

    Ritual

Ritual is something of an anomaly in the Keith Jarrett archive. It's a solo album, as many of his best are, only this time it is pianist, conductor, and frequent collaborator Dennis Russell Davies at the keys playing a work penned entirely by Jarrett. The hallmarks of a Jarrett piano recital are all there-the rolling ostinatos, dense arpeggios, and profound doublings-yet are valenced differently under the rubric of "composition." In this context, we get a sense of "once removed-ness" that might not present itself under improvisational circumstances. The piece's modest 32 minutes are divided into two immodest parts. From the opening groundswell we get not only dense pockets of energy, but also nodes of emptiness. Put another way: the music's glorious peaks share the same space as the shadowy valleys at their feet, thereby encompassing a harmonious middle ground. Like a geyser, its eruptions are predictable yet manage to enthrall every time. Despite its claustrophobic beginnings, Part 1 ends in bright solitude, like a room in which the curtain has been slowly opened to welcome the morning sun. Heavier chording marks Part 2, which resolves in a hopeful melancholy, but not before gelling the emotional plasticity of its precursor. This brings us full circle, ending on a solemn intonation of a single note.

Ritual is far more "regulated" than typical Jarrett fare, spun as it is from the surrogacy of another performer rather than through the alchemy of spontaneous creation (though there is, of course, some of each in the other). The results are captivating in their own way, stoked by every depressed key and lifted pedal. Its shapes are drawn not by what is, but what has been and will be. The present is invisible and lives on only as formless possibility, caught like a blown kiss in the cup of one's hand.

    Space Ritual

Recorded live in December 1972 and released the following year, Space Ritual is an excellent document of Hawkwind's classic lineup, underscoring the group's status as space rock pioneers. As the quintessential people's band, Incorporating most of Doremi Fasol Latido, the show for the Space Ritual tour was conceived as a space rock opera, its blend of sci-fi electronics, mesmerizing psy-fi grooves, and heavy, earthbound jamming punctuated with spoken word interludes from astral poet Bob Calvert.

Although his intergalactic musings date the album, coming across now as camp futurism, they still provide fitting atmospheric preambles to Hawkwind's astounding, mind-warping sounds.

    Ritual Of Passing

Long Awaited Vinyl Version Of Atriarch's Epic Masterpiece.

Portland, Oregon's Atriarch are one of the most intriguing bands in today's underground scene, honing over the last few years a unique amalgamation of death rock, classic '80s goth, doom and black metal. Their 2011 album Forever the End was a promising debut, and the group further developed their sound on the recent split LP with comrades Alaric, released last May on 20 Buck Spin.

Atriarch finds their true sonic calling on their sophomore full-length Ritual of Passing. Delivering tenfold on the potential of the previous two releases, the album is marked by an altogether heavier sound, more deep and substantive. Atriarch draws inspiration from such legendary bands as Christian Death, Bauhaus, Rudimentary Peni and Killing Joke, as well as more recent groups like The Gault, Asunder and Burzum, adding their own twist for a unique take on a classic sound. A stirring, mesmerizing work, Ritual of Passing proves Atriarch is a force to be reckoned with in America's underground heavy music scene.

Neon are still one of the most influential and multi-faceted bands on the entire Italian new wave scene, able to flirt simultaneously with both electronica and industrial culture. Rituals, their first album, originally released on KinderGarten and distributed by Polygram in 1985, represented a crucial turning point in their career, and in some respects, their creative peak.

This vinyl reissue on Spittle arrives, therefore, in celebration of their return to the scene with numerous live performances, and with the hope of renewing interest in one of the most exciting seasons of the Italian underground. Rituals was a seminal album precisely for its ability to bring together the more martial rhythms of dance with the guitar-heavy sound of post-punk, a practice that soon would be legitimated by other bands on the scene like Chicago's Wax Trax, and the side projects of Ministry. Their reinterpretation of Jimi Hendrix's Burning of the Midnight Lamp still sounds like a lethal experiment.

    Ritualize

    ...attitude-thick rapping...with gorgeous
    production...
    - The New York Times

    "Lushlife is an under-the-radar treasure"
    - Stereogum

From the moment you hear the bristling boom-bap chorus on album-opener
Totally Mutual Feeling, it's apparent that Lushlife's third full-length finds the
Philadelphia rapper-producer at his most introspective. Themes of isolation and
mortality permeate Ritualize, a cinematic hour-long odyssey co-produced by
enigmatic production trio, CSLSX (pronounced Casual Sex) and featuring
contributions from Ariel Pink, Killer Mike, Freeway, Marissa Nadler, RJD2, and
more. With CSLSX at the boards, an entire universe opens up for Lush, where
the pulsating Juno synths of '80s LA night music sit side-by-side with
gorgeously propulsive indie-leaning jams, and low-fi soul burners too. The
resulting LP is a post-blog-era joint that seems to exhale the whole of the 20th
century in a single, fascinating breath.

After toiling over two self-produced LPs in the last half-decade, I felt
compelled to bring on an outside production team for Ritualize, Lushlife
(born Raj Haldar) explains. Not only did I want to broaden the musical
palette, but I felt like the group production effort would give me a depth of
focus on lyrical content and emotion that I hadn't previously been afforded.
After a chance encounter with CSLSX, who had been quietly self-releasing
low-fi dance gems to remarkable organic blog buzz, the newly-formed team
set out on a three-year journey that would eventually yield their new joint
album. By the time work began on Ritualize, Lush had already been riding a
small wave of critical acclaim for his 2012 full-length, Plateau Vision, an album
that made several year-end lists and was described by the Sunday New York
Times as a melding of captivating rhymes with audacious, gorgeous production.
Still, with Ritualize, Lushlife and CSLSX seem to have gone one deeper.

From album cut, The Waking World, which finds Lushlife spitting thorough
sixteens from the vantage of Mark David Chapman lying in wait for John
Lennon, to Incantation, a song that's as much inspired by Allen Ginsberg's
Howl as the general, street-level anxieties of urban life, Ritualize is nothing short
of a step forward. For proof, look no further than Toynbee Suite, a 10-minute,
4-movement rap epic that explores the strange Toynbee Tile meta-art
conspiracy that has captivated Philadelphians for decades. As the centerpiece
of the album, Toynbee Suite was the subject of a 2013 documentary, and
itself represents the combined work of 20+ musicians, including RJD2, Nightlands,
Yikes the Zero, and a full chamber orchestra. On the other hand, the
CSLSX-produced, Hong Kong (Lady of Love), a collaboration with weird
music godhead, Ariel Pink, is a sparse yet powerful four-on-the-floor ode to LA,
inspired by the film soundtrack work of Giorgio Moroder, Vangelis, and others.

13 years since they first began playing together in their native Oklahoma, Other Lives remain focused on the search for audible clarity: their next expression, their next melody, their next rhythm. Rituals, the band's third and latest full length album, is a pure encapsulation of the trio's relentless drive for precision. "It's more dimensional, it's more 3-D, if you will," Tabish explains. Modern Rituals

In 2008 the members of Chief finished school, left New York City and returned home to the west coast with their suitcases stuffed full of soaring melodies, shimmering guitars, lovelorn lyrics and heart-stopping harmonies. Their debut album, Modern Rituals, is as rich and expansive as it is personal and intricate. This is a record so teeming with joyful desperation that you'll want to hold onto it with all your might. Modern Rituals is not only a radiant, cohesive and effortlessly captivating introduction to a formidable new band, it's a contender for most contagious album of the year.

Eternal Rituals For The Accretion Of Light

Pressed On Clear Black Smoke Colored Vinyl

Mesmerizing post-metal outfit JUNIUS are excited to reveal their first new music in over three years with their new full-length album Eternal Rituals for the Accretion of Light (ERAL) due out via PROSTHETIC RECORDS.

The album marks the completion of their conceptual trilogy which began in 2009 with their evoking LP The Martyrdom of a Catastrophist, depicted by Rolling Stone as a perfect hybrid of Neurosis and The Smiths followed by 2011's Reports From The Thresholds of Death. JUNIUS' latest release, the critically acclaimed 2014 EP Days of the Fallen Sun, was lauded by Pitchfork as their strongest and most sensuous work to date.

Recorded, mixed and mastered with longtime friend and producer Will Benoit (Caspian, Rosetta, Ellie Goulding), Eternal Rituals for the Accretion of Light takes inspiration from Elisabeth Haich's autobiography Initiation, whilst touching on topics including karma, reincarnation and spiritual development across it's ten melodically divine tracks. Following the departure of former member Mike Repasch-Nieves (guitars), the album was entirely written and performed by vocalist/guitarist Joseph E. Martinez, excluding drums/percussion which were completed by Dana Filloon. The album also features guest appearances from Drew Speziale (Circle Takes the Square) and Gian Minardi (General Public).

    Turkish Leather

Detroit three piece Ritual Howls new album tells stories fit for Poe
or Lovecraft. On their debut full length for felte, titled Turkish
Leather, they incorporate a variety of styles into an ominously
self-assured statement of intent, Ben Saginaw and Chris
Samuels' sounds providing an imposing form for Paul Bancell's
darkly alive lyrics to inhabit. Their influences range from English
post-punk to Nick Cave to the industrial sounds of Skinny Puppy,
and the band melds them expertly. Combining field recordings
with electronics, this music is sound design turned pop.

Many tracks here feel cinematic - whether it's the industrial
clanging of "A Taste of You," which brings to mind a Lynchian bar
scene, or the gothy synths of "Take Me Up," a slow burning track
that escalates into full on melodrama. It's easy to imagine these
twangy guitar lines gracing a scene in a Jarmusch film: their
aesthetic owes as much to Tom Waits as it does Ennio
    Moriccone.

Ritual Howls manages to take all these influences and come out
sounding uniquely morbid, raw and unyielding - never derivative.
It's a record that holds nothing back: the band announcing
themselves to the world with all of the confidence of long time
professionals. Their future audience will greet them with
    enthusiasm.

    Nabuma Rubberband

Swedish synthpop quartet Little Dragon have announced the release of fourth album Nabuma Rubberband in 2014, their first since their 2011 breakthrough album Ritual Union.

Contrary to their dancier past work, the group said in a statement that Nabuma Rubberband is inspired by Janet Jackson slow jams Yukimi used to listen to wandering around Gothenburg during the unrelenting winter.

When you put some of Janet's really slow stuff on you feel like you're floating, frontwoman Yukimi Nagano said. That feeling really influenced me and maybe that's why there are quite a lot of slow jams on the record. In the past we've been a bit self-conscious about making slow jams after 'Twice.' Then we wanted to make dance music which we did with Machine Dreams and then Ritual Union still had a dance vibe, but with this album it wasn't about that. The intention was about whatever we felt strongly about.

The band started working on the album early last year in their hometown of Gothenburg, Sweden following extensive touring behind 2011's Ritual Union.

I think when we started, we had no vision whatsoever, singer Yukimi Nagano told Rolling Stone last year. We just wanted to make the ball start rolling and just brainstorm ideas and see what comes up and then make plans thereafter. I think a lot of visions came through. Our sound is wide - it's not just one particular style - so we dove into different worlds. New worlds, new spaces we haven't been to before. There definitely are elements of sonically romantic tracks. It feels like there are different moods and we're exploring ourselves a bit.

The Smiths' eclectic 1985 release finds the band branching out into rockabilly, post-punk and flashes of funk, all while refining the guitar pop of their debut. Produced by Morrissey and Johnny Marr, Meat Is Murder is the band's sole studio album to reach #1 on the U.K. charts. The Headmaster Ritual and I Want the One I Can't Have are fine elaborations on the formula the band introduced on their debut, while Rusholme Ruffians is an infectious take on rockabilly. There was no other British group making music quite like this in 1985.

    You Are My Sunshine

    Black & Grey Splatter Vinyl

Something dreadful happened with Jamey Johnson, Twiggy Ramirez & Shooter Jennings created this piece of music. It can only be described as a sonic journey, the first of which takes one of the most well-known songs and reinvents it to possibly it's true meaning using much ritual when it comes to the creation and conjuration of the music. Side B is a mystical sound collage that takes the listener on a dark ride into the subconscious using many methods of sub sonic sound synthesis.

    Silver Eye

Silver Eye, Goldfrapp's seventh album, is dance music which evokes a pagan ritual rather than a club soundtrack. Cold, metallic electronics with a hot current of blood running through them. A 21st-century moon dance. It weaves together the two strands of Goldfrapp's music like never before. If 2013's Tales of Us, a set of noirish folk fables, roamed the same pastoral landscape as Felt Mountain and Seventh Tree, then Silver Eye (a reference to the moon) belongs to the pulsing, electronic lineage of Black Cherry and Supernature only deeper and darker.

    The Ark Work

Liturgy is a Brooklyn-based, self-styled "Transcendental Black Metal" band whose yearning, energetic music exists in an uncanny space between avant rock, black metal, fine art and shamanic ritual. Led by songwriter and conceptual architect Hunter Hunt-Hendrix, who is joined by guitarist Bernard Gann, bassist Tyler Dusenbury and drummer Greg Fox, the band exists as a 21st century total work of art (gesamtkunstwerk): activating divine potencies by means of music and culture even as it underscores the contradictions inherent in such a project during the internet era. Their third full length, The Ark Work, is a quantum leap forward, a radical change in sound that paradoxically sounds more like Liturgy than ever. The album hums and churns with Hunt-Hendrix's inventive arrangements - drenched with glockenspiels, bagpipes, strings, ritual chanting, and MIDI horns. It supplements its metal energy with motifs from unlikely, disparate genres; cross-fertilizing hardstyle beats, occult-oriented rap, and the glitched re-sampling of IDM with structures from Medieval sacred music, Romantic classical music, and minimalism. The result is a rich, seething cyber-fantasia that is improbably listenable, conveying the disarming, authentic emotion that is Liturgy's hallmark - a blend of startling invention, high caliber musicianship, raw energy, and profound, cosmic sadness. The result is the first true sonic realization of Transcendental Black Metal: a musically cohesive alchemical fusion, an artistically reflexive work of theandery, and a mind-bending album that is as original as it is beautiful.

    Trust Now

Trust Now is the keystone album of Brooklyns Prince Rama. The album takes the kaleidoscopic mysticism of ancient devotional music and focuses it through the fierce urgency and archetypal language of pop, forming an environment that is both accessible and impenetrable.

Deep synths rise from a sparkling sea of gamelans and prayer bells as tribal drums pound the earth with the hypnotic power to heal or destroy. Voices carry captivating and haunting melodies that shine like the diamond jewels of old Bollywood soundtracks spilling over dark wave dance floors.

First conceived as a ritual to be performed live, the songs were fittingly recorded inside a 19th century church in Seattle by Scott Colburn (Sun City Girls, Animal Collective, Arcade Fire). As their 5th full-length album, and first as a duo, Trust Now is perhaps Prince Ramas most focused, cohesive and powerful album to date.

    Llyria

'Llyria' is the third album from Nik BÄrtsch's Ronin and follows on from 'Stoa' and 'Holon', the ECM recordings that established the exciting young Swiss band on the international scene. Leader and pianist Nik BÄrtsch's modular pieces still define the context of the group's music but the committed input of the individual Ronin members has lifted the work to the next level, blurring the distinctions between composition, improvisation and interpretation.

The music has become more open, moving on from its early Zen funk and ritual groove music formulas. Reed player Sha shines brightly here, and lyrical melodic themes make themselves felt. But this is, Nik BÄrtsch suggests, more than its predecessors a drummer's record. Its beats are lovingly crafted by Kaspar Rast and percussionist Andi Pupato.

    Hate (Picture Disc)

    Limited Edition Of 1,000

    First Time On Picture Disc

Nuclear Blast brings you a new ritual offering of darkness from Thy Art Is Murder. Simply titled Hate, the band's second full length is the pointed result of their growing dissatisfaction with all aspects of modern life - political, religious, social and environmental - everyone is to blame. Fusing the blasting technicality of metal luminaries The Black Dahlia Murder with thunderous breakdowns and the intensity born of their nascent hometown scene; the blackened grandeur of Behemoth and the pit churning groove of Tampa originators Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse, the furious musical arrangements provide a bloody canvas for vocalist CJ McMahon's outpourings of bile. No strangers to stoking controversy and criticism, the band have not toned down their art for the sake of palatability and have introduced a morose melodicism into their maelstrom - the rumination before pulling the trigger.
