    Ullages

"An Echo & the Bunnymen-inspired delay fest with Robert Smith-style vocals, it speaks for itself."

    -FLOOD

Whilst Eagulls' debut album was a juggernaut of a record, often moving at breakneck speed and intensity, it was also a deeply melodic one and underneath the heady fuzz and gushing charge of the guitars laid a band with just as many pop leanings as they had punk. It's these moments that have been brought to the surface on the new record: dense, deeply textured explorations that recall the shimmering opulence of the Cocteau Twins and the ominous gloom of The Smiths and Disintegration/Pornography-era The Cure. Recorded during long days and nights in a converted Leeds Catholic church with returning producer Matt Peel before the album was sent to London to be mixed by Craig Silvey (Portishead, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, R.E.M), it's as refreshing as it is exhilarating to hear Eagulls' Ullages as they continue to forge a fierce and prominent British voice in the world of music.

This record is every bit as dazzling as it's predecessor but it comes along with that most rare and treasured quality of being so in a way that feels new, whilst simultaneously remaining in the existing character and tone of the band. Never has the term 'sophomore slump' been kicked so mercilessly to death as by Eagulls on this album.

Torn Down is a 2018 remix album by British alternative rock band The Cure, and a sequel to the 1990 remix album Mixed Up.

The project was first originally announced in 2009, with Robert Smith saying in 2012 that the double album would consist of our favorite bands remixing Cure songs but the final product instead features sixteen new mixes done by Smith himself, selecting one song from each album in chronological order.

Set for release on vinyl, the 2LP sets of 'Mixed Up' and 'Torn Down: Mixed Up Extras 2018' have been Half-Speed Mastered by Robert Smith and Tim Young at Metropolis Studios, London. They have been pressed on 180-gram vinyl and housed in Gatefold Sleeves.

    The Greatest Hits

Greatest Hits is a compilation album by The Cure, originally released in 2001. The band's relationship with longtime label Fiction Records came to a close, and The Cure was obliged to release one final album for the label. Robert Smith agreed to release a greatest hits album under the condition that he could choose the tracks himself.

    Seventeen Seconds

Originally released in 1980, Seventeen Seconds is the second album from the influential English rock outfit, The Cure. The album introduced the darker, emotionally weighted sound for which the band would become renowned in large part due to the evolution of Robert Smith's songwriting and a line-up change that saw bassist Michael Dempsey replaced by Simon Gallup as well as the addition of keyboardist Mathieu Hartley.

    Mixed Up

Half-Speed Mastered By Robert Smith And Tim Young At Metropolis Studios, London

Pressed On 180-Gram Vinyl And Housed In A Gatefold Sleeve

With the Disintegration album and its accompanying global Prayer Tour, 1989 had delivered a triumphant end to the 80s, but the first year of the 90s found The Cure unexpectedly unsettled.

Determined to keep up the momentum of the band's ongoing success, but knowing there were internal tensions to address before heading back into the studio, Robert Smith decided on a different course of action; curating an album of the band's rarer 12" mixes. As work on Mixed Up progressed, Smith realised that some of The Cure's earlier remixes didn't stand up to the newer ones.

Robert singles out Brian 'Chuck' New's dub style remix of Pictures Of You as the one that inspired him to take a more adventurous path. That mix turned the music on its head, but at the same time left the essential heart of the song intact. As soon as I heard it, I updated the entire Mixed Up plan. My revised ambition was to compile an album that was contemporary without being dated, immediate without being obvious, musically inspiring, rhythmically exciting and sonically great!

Two tracks on the album, A Forest and The Walk, were not just remixed but entirely re-recorded, as the multi-track tapes for both songs had long been lost. Both songs were reconstructed in the studio with producer Mark Saunders, using original instruments and gear.

The band convened over five days in June 1990 to record a new track for Mixed Up. After a certain amount of fraught experimenting with beats, loops and sequenced bass lines, Smith decided to change the vibe. A demo entitled PhaseAGE that had previously been deemed 'too rock' was committed to tape as Never Enough and was released as a single in September 1990. The 'Closer Mix' of Close To Me soon followed this and both songs were accompanied by customarily deranged Tim Pope videos.

With Mixed Up finally released, Smith felt he could at last move on, confident in a re-energized and re-integrated band. The whole of 1990 was essentially spent emerging from the shadow of Disintegration, and we managed to do it in a creatively satisfying way; by the end of the year, I couldn't wait to start work on new songs for the next record.

    4:13 Dream (Awaiting Repress)

The Cure's 13th studio album is entitled 4:13 Dream and its the band's first since 2004's The Cure. There are songs about relationships, the material world, politics and religion. They're upfront and dynamic, explains Robert Smith. People will be surprised how stripped-down and in-your-face the record is. Led as always by lead singer/guitarist Smith, the rest of the Cure line-up is comprised of long-time bass player Simon Gallup, drummer Jason Cooper and back in the band for a third time around, guitarist Porl Thompson.

A Place For Us To Dream

It's rare to find a group of people that can successfully make a career out of
their band for 20 years. However, that's exactly what Placebo has done. Since
the release of their debut album in 1996, the band has gone on to sell over 12
million records worldwide, and have collaborated with the likes of David
Bowie, Robert Smith and more. They've achieved gold and platinum albums
in over 30 countries and have won countless awards, including an MTV
Award for Best Alternative Band. Their touring history includes sold out arena
tours and headlining festivals in more than 70 countries, sharing the stage
with several iconic groups, including The Cure and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

To celebrate their time as a band, Placebo will be releasing "A Place For Us

    The Top (Awaiting Repress)

The Top is the fifth studio album by English band The Cure, originally released on April 30th, 1984 by Fiction Records, on Polydor. After recording a psychedelic album Blue Sunshine for the one-off project The Glove during the summer 1983, Robert Smith finished off the year composing and working on two other studio albums at the same time: The Top for the Cure and Hyæna for Siouxsie and the Banshees. Smith was still the official guitarist of Siouxsie and the Banshees while he wrote The Top. The album was eclectic and saw Smith using all kinds of instruments, including violin and flute. Bird Mad Girl is in a Spanish style while The Wailing Wall contains Middle-Eastern undertones.

For The Top, Smith teamed up with another Cure founding member Lol Tolhurst who had given up drums for keyboards, and new member drummer Andy Anderson who had previously performed on the UK top 10 single The Lovecats. Porl Thompson was credited for playing saxophone on Give Me It. All the songs are credited by Smith bar three tracks co-written with Tolhurst, The Caterpillar, Bird Mad Girl and Piggy in the Mirror.

    XX

The XX arrive with their debut album XX, a whole new sound of love, loss and longing. The XX are a London quartet, featuring the dual lead vocals of Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim (who also play lead guitar and bass guitar), Baria Qureshi (keyboards and guitar) and Jamie Smith (beats, MPC sampler). These four twenty year olds are childhood friends who formed while attending southwest London's Elliot School, an academy whose alumni also includes such acclaimed boundary-pushers as Burial, Four Tet and Hot Chip. Bonding over a shared love of dark, emotive '80s guitar sounds and the high-end sheen of American R&B, The XX's unique sound befits a band whose wide range of influences include everything from Aaliyaah to Cocorosie, Rihanna to The Cure, Missy Elliot to The Chromatics and Mariah Carey to The Pixies.

In an effort not to draw too much distance from the DIY aesthetic of their early demos, which were recorded in their bedrooms, they recorded their debut album XX under no one's watch, other than engineer Rodaidh McDonald, at XL Recordings' west London in-house studio. The result is a wash of sexy, coy, and sparse rhythms and melodies the likes of Robert Smith, Massive Attack and The Streets.

Vinyl also die cut with bonus track cover of Hot Like Fire.

Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me

The Cure followed the breakthrough success of The Head on the Door in 1986 with the compilation Standing on a Beach: The Singles. Standing on a Beach reached number four in the U.K., but more importantly it established the band as a major cult act in the U.S.; the album peaked at number 48 and went gold within a year. In short, Standing on a Beach set the stage for 1987's double album Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me. The album was eclectic but it was a hit, spawning four hit singles in the U.K. (Why Can't I Be You, Catch, Just Like Heaven, Hot Hot Hot!!!) and the group's first American Top 40 hit, Just Like Heaven. Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me was more accessible and ambitious than any of the Cure's previous albums, the double album Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me finds Robert Smith expanding his pop vocabulary by tentatively adding bigger guitars, the occasional horn section, lite-funk rhythms, and string sections

The Head On The Door (Awaiting Repress)

The Head on the Door is the sixth studio album by British band The Cure, originally released in 1985 on Polydor. It was preceded by the single In Between Days which had reached No. 15 in the UK singles chart. The Head on the Door was depicted by the Melody Maker as a collection of pop songs. With its variety of styles, it allowed the group to reach a wider audience in both Europe and North America. In the UK, it quickly became their most successful album to date, climbing to #7 in the albums chart.

The album is the first to feature drummer Boris Williams. Bassist Simon Gallup, who had previously worked on three major Cure albums of the early 80's, was called back before the recording. In 1985, the band became a quintet with instrumentalist Porl Thompson as fifth official member. The Head on the Door is the first Cure album where all the songs are composed by singer and guitarist Robert Smith only.

    Strong Persuader

One of the most popular and successful blues albums ever released!

200-gram vinyl, pressed at Quality Record Pressings!

Mastered from the original analog tape by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound

Robert Cray is a musician that critics describe as one of the all-time great blues guitarists, and small wonder. No less than Rolling Stone describes his playing as distinctive and razor-sharp. They go on to say that Strong Persuader introduced a new generation of mainstream rock fans to the language and form of the blues. As much as anyone next to Stevie Ray Vaughan, Cray helped the blues not only survive, but thrive, says Acoustic Sounds' owner Chad Kassem.

Cray, a five-time Grammy winner, originally released Strong Persuader, his fifth studio album, in 1986 - his major label debut. Stinging urban blues by way of Texas and Memphis distinguish Cray's guitar mastery - since the release of Strong Persuader, Cray has gone on to record 15 Billboard-charting studio albums and has written or performed with everyone from Eric Clapton to Stevie Ray Vaughan, from Bonnie Raitt to John Lee Hooker. Inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame at the age of 57, he is one of the youngest living legends to receive the prestigious honor. And although Cray can look back over an astonishing three decade-long career, punctuated by his trademark sound and distinct playing style, he is far too busy moving forward as the amazing journey continues. 2012 saw Robert release his 16th studio album, Nothin' But Love and embark on yet another world tour.

    Transatlanticism

    Import

As musical lunacy goes, things have gotten as crazy as it gets for Death Cab for Cutie since 2002's You Can Play These Songs with Chords compilation. A wildly successful tour with Dismemberment Plan, a collaboration for singer Ben Gibbard with emo-electronic guru Dntel under the Postal Service moniker, and a whole new legion of fans swooning to Gibbard's lyrics as if he were a modern day answer to Kiss Me-era Robert Smith have all amassed considerable hype around Transatlanticism. But the group proves themselves more than equal to the task, answering the call and proving the cynics wrong with their most focused and most mature work in their entire catalog. Transatlanticism wastes absolutely no time and dives in head first with The New Year, one of the most melodramatic openings to an album since the Smashing Pumpkins' Tonight, Tonight from Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. The mellow, mixed-meter percussion and dense atmosphere of Lightness is a brilliant lead into the pop-happy Expo '86 and The Sound of Settling before setting up the climatic and intensely dramatic title track. Unconsciously taking a page from Blur's Sing, the hypnotic drumming and guitar call and responses through the eight-minute climax of the album are backed with a singalong finale that unquestionably will have every audience on the next tour singing along and holding up their lighters. And while most albums would be left exhausted after such a track, the group keeps things moving, albeit at a much slower pace than compared to the anthems that packed the first half. Gibbard seamlessly makes the transition between songs that full out rock to songs that are comparable to Elliott Smith's finest hour with great ease. But it's Gibbard's poetic lyrics and signature introspection that remain a bench mark for Death Cab; and it's the group's maturity as musicians as well as songwriters that make Transatlanticism such a decadently good listen from start to finish. The band has never sounded more cohesive, the track sequencing is brilliant, and it caps off a triumphant year for not only Gibbard, but a band whose time and greater recognition is finally due. ~ Rob Theakston, All Music Guide

The band has never sounded more cohesive, the track sequencing is brilliant, and it caps off a triumphant year for not only Gibbard, but a band whose time and greater recognition is finally due.

There comes a time in every punk's life where he or she has to grow up, or at least acknowledge that maturity is just around the corner. blink-182 put it off for as long as they could, but ten years into their career and two albums after their big breakthrough, 1999's Enema of the State, they decided to make a stab at being grown-ups for their eponymous sixth studio album. As with many self-titled albums, the trio uses this as an attempt to redefine itself, and they have considerably expanded both their sonic template and lyrical outlook on blink-182. They're still rooted in punk-pop, but even songs that stretch no further than that sound are a little darker, a little restless, reflecting the overall mood of the record. In shorthand, this is the record where blink-182 delve into post-punk, opting for some appealingly sullen moodiness, off-kilter hooks, lots of sonic textures, and even a duet with the Cure's Robert Smith. Since the trio is an inherently catchy group, this is a far cry from neo-post-punk groups like Interpol or even the dynamically hooky Hot Hot Heat, but there is a greater variety of sounds on blink-182 than on any of the trio's other albums, and the songwriting is similarly adventurous, alternating punchy, impassioned punk-pop with weirder, atmospheric pieces like Down and I'm Lost Without You. If nothing on the album has the immediate impact of All the Small Things - though the opener, Feeling This, comes close - and if, on the whole, blink-182 isn't as bracing or visceral as Dude Ranch or Enema, so be it: there's more to explore on this album than any of their other records. It's an unexpected and welcome maturation from a band that just an album ago seemed permanently stuck in juvenilia.

    lullaby and... The Ceaseless Roar

Robert Plant's new album, lullaby and The Ceaseless Roar, will be released on Nonesuch/Warner Bros. Records. Produced by Plant, the album is his label debut and features 11 new recordings, nine of which are original songs written by Plant with his band, The Sensational Space Shifters-Justin Adams: bendirs, djembe, guitars, tehardant, background vocals; John Baggott: keyboards, loops, moog bass, piano, tabal, background vocals; Juldeh Camara: kologo, ritti, Fulani vocals; Billy Fuller: bass, drum programming, omnichord, upright bass; Dave Smith: drum set; and Liam "Skin" Tyson: banjo, guitar, background vocals.

lullaby and The Ceaseless Roar is Plant's first record since 2010's Band of Joy, which followed 2007's six-time Grammy Award-winning collaboration with Alison Krauss, Raising Sand. Justin Adams and John Baggott of The Sensational Space Shifters appeared on Plant's 2002 release Dreamland, while all but Camara and Smith appeared on 2005's Mighty Rearranger. The new-album line-up recently toured the world before recording lullaby and The Ceaseless Roar at Helium Studios in Wiltshire and Real World Studios in Bath, UK. The track "Rainbow" was recorded in Contino Rooms in London. Tchad Blake mixed all but three tracks on the album.

"It's really a celebratory record, powerful, gritty, African, Trance meets Zep," Plant says. "The whole impetus of my life as a singer has to be driven by a good brotherhood. I am very lucky to work with The Sensational Space Shifters. They come from exciting areas of contemporary music I have been around awhile and I ask myself, do I have anything to say? Is there a song still inside me? In my heart? I see life and what's happening to me. Along the trail there are expectations, disappointments, happiness, questions and strong relationships," Plant explains, "... and now I'm able to express my feelings through melody, power and trance; together in a kaleidoscope of sound, colour, and friendship."

    Carry Fire

Carry Fire, Robert Plant's eleventh solo album and first full-length release since 2014's acclaimed lullaby and... The Ceaseless Roar, was produced by Plant in the west of England and Wales, at Top Cat studio in Box, Wiltshire with additional recordings at Real World and Rockfield studios. As with lullaby, Plant is accompanied by The Sensational Space Shifters: John Baggott on keyboards, moog, loops, percussion, drums, brass arrangement, t'bal, snare drum, slide guitar, piano, electric piano, bendir; Justin Adams on guitar, acoustic guitar, oud, E-bow quartet, percussion, snare drum, tambourine; Dave Smith on bendir, tambourine, djembe, drum kit; and Liam Skin Tyson on dobro, guitar, acoustic guitar, pedal steel, twelve-string.

Plant and the Space Shifters are also joined on Carry Fire by a number of special guests. Chrissie Hynde joins Plant on the duet Bluebirds Over the Mountain (written by rockabilly legend Ersel Hickey and later recorded by both Richie Valens and The Beach Boys). Albanian cellist Redi Hasa performs on three tracks, as does the celebrated Seth Lakeman on viola and fiddle.

Plant and the Space Shifters (which now includes Lakeman) celebrate Carry Fire's release by beginning a world tour in November 2017 starting in UK & Ireland and touring all corners of globe from thereon.

Plant and the band spent two years on the road together supporting lullaby and... The Ceaseless Roar, their unique sound and vision ultimately evolving into something even more creative and powerful.

Plant, who lived in Texas for a time before returning to his native England three years ago, together with his friends, present the songs Carry Fire, melding unusual rhythms with naturalism and smoldering power.

It's about intention, I respect and relish my past works but each time I feel the lure and incentive to create new work. I must mix old with new. Consequently the whole impetus of the band has moved on its axis somewhat, the new sound and different space giving way to exciting and dramatic landscapes of mood, melody and instrumentation.

    Horses (Speakers Corner) (Awaiting Repress)

Ranked 44/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Patti Smith, the first published poet to move her poetry completely into rock 'n' roll and to entice experimental rock fans into the forbidden cinema of her hallucinatory fantasy (New York Times), began her musical career unconventionally. It took off at a poetry reading where she was backed by Lenny Kaye on guitar; later star photographer Robert Mapplethorpe financed her punk-rock cult single Hey Joe. In 1975, encouraged by her success, Patti Smith released Horses, an album in which she fused rock riffs and spoken rhythms to create a punk-trash sound. The rock scene was electrified, raging about the best garage sound of the 70s (Creem Magazine) and conjectured that Smith had drawn up material from Rimbaud, Burroughs, Dylan and Velvet Underground into a hot needle and injected it under the skin (Sounds Magazine). Later productions were dismissed as sentimental and self-loving outpourings, since the rock-poet didn't continue in the same vein as Horses, with its metallic harshness and raw language. That's why this recording remains an impressive unique production by a visionary rock 'n' roll singer.

    Musicians:

    • Patti Smith (guitar, vocals)

    • Richard Sohl (piano)

    • Lenny Kaye (bass, guitar, vocal)

    • Tom Verlaine, Allen Lanier (guitar)

    About Speakers Corner

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

    Everything's Beautiful

Everything's Beautiful brings Miles Davis' sound into the 21st century, blending a diverse group of master takes and outtakes from across Miles' incredible tenure with Columbia Records (1955-1985) with original reinterpretations. Robert Glasper produced the collaboration. I didn't want to do just a remix record, Glasper noted when discussing the 11-song set. My idea was to show how Miles inspired people to make new art.

Knowing that Miles didn't have one audience, Glasper recruited a legion of diverse guest artists to add to the magic of the project including familiar collaborators like R&B musicians Erykah Badu, Ledisi, Bilal and KING. They are joined by British soul singer-songwriter Laura Mvula; hip-hop producer Rashad Smith; Grammy-nominated Australian neo-soul quartet Hiatus Kaiyote, rapper/producer Illa J; jazz guitarist John Scofield, who collaborated with Davis; and the legendary Stevie Wonder.

    Right On Time

There's a narrative at work in The Brought Low's best songs, chronicling existence in the inner-cities outer boroughs and the pratfalls of hard work, hard liquor and hard time. The essence of these stories mirror the band's own: the past couple years has been a repetition of arrivals and departures: family dying and being born, band members entering in and then walking out. There was a local new wave revival whose aesthetic they couldn't have less to do with, a cycle of touring, working, and touring again, a decrepit practice space that's become a decrepit second home. On the other side of the tunnel they've come out stronger, more resolute in their conviction, and wired for maximum impact.

Singer/ guitarist/ songwriter Benjamin Howard Smith and drummer Nick Heller have been the nucleus of The Brought Low since the rolling thunder of their NYC debut in 1999. The band's universally-lauded self-titled debut album on Tee Pee Records earned them a loyal audience, and the howling overdrive of their impassioned live shows have become the stuff of city folklore. 2003 saw the addition of bassist Robert Russell as well as second guitarist Kevin Eleven, who left the band shortly after recording concluded, returning them to their original power trio format. Following the release of Right On Time, The Brought Low band has planned a series of guerrilla tours throughout the country that will carry them well into 2007.

Linda Ronstadt was the leading female vocalist in rock 'n' roll when, sensing that it was time to change direction, she starred in the Broadway production of Gilbert & Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance, as well as the accompanying movie.

Pirates of Penzance led the singer to a collaboration with bandleader/arranger Nelson Riddle, who arranged and conducted this 1983 collection of pop standards What's New. It was the first in a trilogy of 1980s albums Ronstadt recorded with Riddle. What's New was a considerable hit, reaching No. 3 on the charts, where it stayed for five consecutive weeks, and selling to date more than three million copies. Ronstadt's next two albums with Riddle followed - Lush Life in 1984) and For Sentimental Reasons in 1986 - also albums of pre-rock standards.

Let's just say that the vocals on this Analogue Productions reissue, mastered from the original analog tape by Doug Sax and Robert Hadley, have never sounded richer, with a broader soundstage, and more clarity and detail in the orchestral accompaniment. Such a sweet record, made even better with a Stoughton Printing tip-on jacket showcasing the vibrant original cover designed by John Kosh. You'll settle in for some impeccably-voiced standards from pop's golden age and be transfixed by Ronstadt's interpretive skills.

Mississippi's Son House was already legendary for a small collection of live field recordings made by folklorist Alan Lomax in 1941 and 1942, and for having taught some important licks to both Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters before he was rediscovered by a new generation of college-age fans in 1964.

The Father of the Delta Blues recorded this namesake LP for Columbia Records a year later in 1965. It's become, in the words of Living Blues magazine - Essential recordings by one of the greatest bluesmen ever. And now, Analogue Productions presents a reissue unmatched in sonic quality and luxury presentation. For our version we turned to Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound to remaster the recording from the original master tapes. The freshly cut lacquers were then plated and pressed on 200-gram vinyl by our own Quality Record Pressings.

Son was born Eddie James House, Jr., on March 21, 1902, in Riverton, Miss. By the age of 15, he was preaching the gospel in various Baptist churches as the family seemingly wandered from one plantation to the next. He didn't even bother picking up a guitar until he turned 25; to quote House, I didn't like no guitar when I first heard it; oh gee, I couldn't stand a guy playin' a guitar. I didn't like none of it. But if his ambivalence to the instrument was obvious, even more obvious was the simple fact that Son hated plantation labor even more and had developed a taste for corn whiskey. After drunkenly launching into a blues at a house frolic in Lyon, Miss., one night and picking up some coin for doing it, the die seemed to be cast; Son House may have been a preacher, but he was part of the blues world now.

Now, sit back and enjoy one of the genre's greatest, on a reissue that's the best that's been made to date. So authentic, so real - that's the Analogue Productions difference.
