Every Rolling Stones Studio Album From 1971 Onwards

Remastered And Cut At Half-Speed At Abbey Road Studios

15x Albums Pressed On 20x Heavyweight 180-Gram Black Vinyl

Individually Numbered, Limited Edition With Original Packaging Replications

Whenever The Rolling Stones do anything, they do it with quality and gravitas. Having defined rock'n'roll in the 60s, The Rolling Stones entered their imperial phase in 1971 with Sticky Fingers. What followed is a run of albums that couldn't have happened at any other time, by any other band: the decadent excess of Exile On Main St, the Jamaican voodoo swamp of Goats Head Soup, the disco and punk-infused prowl of Some Girls. With each new decade, the Stones evolved while staying true to their roots, coming full circle in 2016 with Blue & Lonesome, a love letter to their first inspiration: the blues. Today, The Rolling Stones and Universal Music announce 'The Studio Albums Vinyl Collection 1971-2016', a brand new limited edition vinyl box set collection, featuring 15 albums across 20 LPs released on 15 June 2018 and available to pre-order here. View the unboxing trailer here.

'The Studio Albums Vinyl Collection 1971-2016' presents this monumental era in rock'n'roll history in a highly bespoke, lenticular mounted, limited edition box-set housing the 15 studio albums from Sticky Fingers through to Blue & Lonesome in faithful and intricate original packaging replications. Every album has been lovingly remastered and cut at revelatory half-speed at Abbey Road Studios, from vinyl specific original tape transfers designed to get the very best possibly sound from the format. Each album is pressed on heavyweight 180-gram black vinyl and includes a download card for HD digital redemption of the catalogue and includes a numbered certificate of authentication.

Cut at half speed, these are among the highest quality vinyl pressings that these classic Rolling Stones albums will have ever received. Half speed mastering and pressed to a very high standard ensures top notch sound quality for the listener.

Special care has been taken to create packaging to the same high standards, with detailed artwork reproduction for each album including 'Some Girls', which comes housed in the replica design including 20 cut-outs on the cover, while the sleeve of 'Sticky Fingers' is presented as Andy Warhol's original design, complete with a working zip with a hidden image underneath and 'Exile On Main Street' comes with a set of 12 original postcard inserts.

    ABOUT THE PROCESS

Abbey Road Studios' engineers have been cutting grooves into discs since the studios first opened in 1931. In 2013, award-winning engineer Miles Showell joined their existing mastering team, bringing a wealth of disc-cutting experience with him.

One of the artisan techniques offered by Abbey Road Studios that results in the very highest quality sound reproduction is Half Speed Cutting. This process involves the master source being played back at precisely half its recorded speed while the cutting lathe is similarly turned at half the desired playback speed. This allows the cutting head twice the time to cut the intricate groove, allowing considerably more accuracy with important matters such as frequency extremes and micro-dynamic contrasts. The resulting cuts have excellent high frequency response (treble) and very solid and stable stereo images.

It's not quite as simple as running everything at half rate. There is an EQ curve applied to all vinyl records and by running the lathe at half speed, all the frequencies are wrong. However, the technical staff at Abbey Road Studios have had new custom-built filters installed which allow Miles to practice half speed cutting to the full on a modified Neumann VMS-80 lathe.

    In Rolling Waves

Beyond a life hardwired to pop culture via the 24 hour news feed, The Naked and Famous elicit a romantic connection inspired by the golden era of
alternative rock; a shared response to a teenage soundtrack of epic, emotionally charged mid-nineties music.

Released in March 2011, their ambitious debut Passive Me, Aggressive You featured singles Young Blood and Punching In A Dream. Lauded by
NME, it was a 'classic case of lovely and beautiful: TNAF's passive melodicism and aggressive innovation clash in a dazzling blaze of psych/sonic
fireworks and Rolling Stone magazine described Young Blood as one of the year's best singles. Fronted by Alisa Xayalith and Thom Powers, The
Naked And Famous lit a fire under an online fan base, with a video subculture built through YouTube and into radio. M83 invited TNAF to remix a single
and a Tiesto remix transformed Young Blood into a club smash. Agencies fell into The Naked and Famous slipstream, and theirs became the go-to
soundtrack for gaming, Hollywood and TV shows mining a zeitgeist of young and interesting.

By June 2012, the New Zealand quintet had played to more than 600,000 people in 24 countries, but the band chose to hit pause and embark on a
second album. The resulting album, In Rolling Waves, delivers darkly nuanced, intricately rocking electro gems once again born in bedroom studio
sessions, then demoed in studios in Wales and Australia ahead of recording at Sunset Sound in Hollywood.

Thom Powers sought out Alan Moulder (NIN, Foals, My Bloody Valentine) to mix this daydreaming dark-wave experiment. In 2013, The Naked And
Famous are matured and determined to deliver new music to their fans as soon as possible.

    Third Reich 'n Roll

The Residents released of their third album, The Third Reich 'n' Roll in 1976. People have speculated whether The Residents were hinting that Rock 'n' Roll has brain-washed the youth of the world. When confronted with this possibility, they replied, Well, it may be true or it may not, but we just wanted to kick out the jams and get it on. The Third Reich 'n' Roll consists of two suites, Swastikas on Parade and Hitler was a Vegetarian. Both are semi-phonetic interpretations of top forty hits from the sixties. Our roots, say The Residents, a bright orange carrot clutched lovingly in their hands. Remastered for vinyl!

    Roll With The Punches

Roll With The Punches - Van Morrison's 37th studio album - sees him simultaneously hand-picking a selection of rhythm and blues classics (by the likes of Bo Diddley, Mose Allison, Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Lightnin' Hopkins among others) and recording a set of new self-written songs. It's an album that features raw, intimate interpretations of some of the cornerstones of rock'n'roll alongside five new numbers by one of our most consistently brilliant recording artists.

Roll With The Punches was produced by Van Morrison and recorded with an incredible team of studio collaborators including Chris Farlowe, Georgie Fame, Jeff Beck, Paul Jones and Jason Rebello.

    Rock And Roll Animal

Following his somber 1973 concept album Berlin, Lou Reed switched gears once again with 1974's Rock 'n' Roll Animal, a searing live set recorded at Howard Stein's Academy of Music in New York in December of 1973 with his road band at the time which featured the twin guitar attack of Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter. The 5-song set primarily consists of extended arrangements of former Velvet Underground classics including a 13-minute plus version of Heroin, and a 10-minute Rock 'n' Roll to go along with more concise takes on Sweet Jane and White Light/White Heat. Rock 'n' Roll Animal amplifies the music of the Velvet Underground as never before or since and it finds Lou Reed doing what he does best, challenging the status quo with artistic ambition and restless abandon.

    Rock & Roll Nightmare

Rock & Roll Nightmare is the second album by Southern California's LOS INFERNOS. Legend has it that Jello Biafra was so impressed upon seeing them live on various occasions in various towns that he offered them a deal. Eager to get the ball rolling, we released a single called The Outlaw/Beer Run (Virus 225) in April 1999.

LOS INFERNOS are 5 working-class dudes from Riverside in the glorious Inland Empire. Suburbia nestled between the Mojave desert and L.A. They grew up listening to X, Black Flag, Flesheaters as well as Link Wray, the Ventures and Dick Dale. So its no wonder that musically Los Infernos meld together twang, punk, rockabilly, surf, and a touch of hillbilly & blues. They have built up quite a reputation as a hot live band. So hot, in fact, that their van once caught on fire!

Rock & Roll Nightmare carries on where their debut album Planet Kaos left off. SoCal surf, Riverside rockabilly, and hillbilly hardcore that should appeal to sweaty pompadours, Gear-heads, as well as Fat Wreck-kids.

    Rock And Roll Joe

The idea for Rock and Roll Joe began during Chip Taylor's Scandinavian tour of 2007. As Chip traveled through Norway and Sweden with his longtime friend and guitarist John Platania, new protege fiddler Kendel Carson, drummer Bryan Owings and bass player Ron Eoff, they talked about everything. But many of the conversations revolved around the musicians that they knew and respected and Chip realized that most music fans didn't really know the people who were behind many of the great records of the last 60 years.

With that in mind, Chip wrote the song, Rock and Roll Joe. That song prompted several more, with everyone in the band suggesting more songs in need of the spotlight. At the end of the tour back in London, the band quickly recorded the new songs and the Rock and Roll Joe album was born.

Chip Taylor and Train Wreck Records have also launched a website that will promote and honor the unsung heroes of rock music. The history of rock is filled with people such as Hank Garland and Mickey Baker who were instrumental in shaping the sound of today's best music. Yet their contributions are barely recognized. In addition to the underappreciated musicians and session players, there will also be some room to highlight the songwriters, producers and behind the scenes people who helped shape this music.

    Roll The Bones

    200 Gram Vinyl LP

From a lyrical perspective, 1991's Roll the Bones is quite possibly Rush's darkest album (most of the songs deal with death in no uncertain terms), but from a musical point of view, the record treads territory (highbrow melodic hard rock) similar to its recent predecessors, with only a few surprises thrown in for good measure. These include an amusing rap section in the middle of the title track, a welcome return to instrumentals with Where's my Thing?, and one of the band's finest songs of the '90s in the gutsy Dreamline. Neurotica is another highlight which lives up to its title, and though their negative subject matter can feel stifling at times, fine tracks like Bravado, The Big Wheel, and Heresy feature wonderful melodies and arrangements.

    Rock N Roll Animal

Rock N Roll Animal is a live album by Lou Reed, originally released by RCA Records in 1974. In its original form, it features five songs, four of which are Velvet Underground songs. The musicians were Pentti Glan (drums) and Prakash John (bass), Ray Colcord (keyboards), and Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter on guitars. (The two guitarists would later form the basis of the second Alice Cooper band, beginning on Welcome to My Nightmare, which also features Glan and John.)

The album was recorded live on December 21, 1973, at Howard Stein's Academy of Music in New York City. A sleeper hit, it peaked at #45 on the Billboard album chart during a twenty-eight week stay before earning Reed's first RIAA gold certification in 1978.

    Rock 'n Roll Blues

Luther Dickinson enters a new phase of his storied musical
career with his rollicking and raw new solo album, Rock 'n
Roll Blues. From the propulsive beat and unbridled sound of
opener Vandalize, to the insanely catchy Bar Band, it's clear this
is a unique chapter in the acclaimed Southern musician's
songbook. More informed by a youth spent listening to punk rock
than the blues and boogie rock of his revered band North Mississippi
Allstars, the record consists mostly of acoustic guitar, stand up
bass and drums and although not punk in sound, it is in spirit and
the DIY ethos. In essence, an autobiography set to music, the
10-track LP traces Luther's journey from excitable teen to
tour-van vet and offers a side of himself seldom seen before.

The son of the late great producer and musician Jim Dickinson,
Luther made his recording debut at age 14 and has recorded
with a who's who of musicians including The Replacements,
Beck, Jon Spencer, John Hiatt, Levon Helm, Mavis Staples,
Ry Cooder and Patty Grifffin. He is the lead guitarist and vocalist
for the North Mississippi Allstars and widely known as both a
talented musician and producer with four Grammy® nominations
to prove it - three in the contemporary blues category and one in
    traditional folk.

    Let It Roll

Ten years in the running, Austin Texas's own Dixie Witch has established themselves as one of the seminal Texas Power Trios. Led by the thunderous rhythm and vocal section of Trinidad Leal and Curt Christenson aka ''CC'', Dixie Witch has experienced both success and hardship on the road. The road can either break a band or make a band and in the case of Dixie Witch it has defined them and made them who they are today. Dixie Witch brings a solid foundation and a united front that only a decade of touring can create. In true, ''Family Style'', these band mates have formed a brotherhood that has given way to songwriting with nods from greats such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Mountain, Black Sabbath, and Waylon Jennings.

In the spring of 2009, Dixie Witch introduced new guitarist Joshua ''JT'' Todd Smith to the fold. This addition has brought a new energy to the band, creating a springboard into the next chapter of Dixie Witch history.

Representing their long affiliated record label, Small Stone Records, the boys pull the trigger on a Texas Motor Rock Rumble with their eagerly anticipated SXSW2011 showcase. After SXSW, the band travels to Europe for their second jaunt across the pond, which will include an appearance at the Roadburn Festival in Holland.

2011 brings new energy, new songs and new life for Dixie Witch. This Fall DW will record their long awaited 4th album at Mad Oak Studios in Allston, MA. With a powerful modern heavy rock sound, ten years of a brotherhood gives way to a new horizon. And the band plays on...

New Studio Album On Double Vinyl!

When we began working on R&R Telephone we had no idea that it might be Dan's last album with the band, so to have this record turn out so fantastically well has been a real delight. The band had not recorded a full album in Scotland for many a year, and to do so in a studio close to our 'spiritual home' of Dunfermline felt really great. There was a wonderful atmosphere in the studio during the sessions, and we think that this shows in the performances. This is an album that will remain in our hearts and minds for a long time.
