The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan Marks the Beginning of a Cultural Sea Change: 1963 Set Transformed Songwriting, Folk, and Pop

Wider Grooves for The Ultimate Sonic Quality: Strictly Limited to 3,000 Copies, Mobile Fidelity's Mono 45RPM Vinyl Pressing Teems With Directness and Sound Dylan Originally Intended

Records Ambitious Poetry, Melodies, and Moral Conviction Transformed Songwriting, Folk, and Pop

Includes Masters of War, Blowin' in the Wind, and A Hard Rains A-Gonna Fall

Originally experienced by everyone in direct, attention-getting mono sound, The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan is the album the ignited sea changes in pop culture, music, songwriting, poetry, and the social consciousness. It's the creation of a 22-year-old visionary still years away from casting a jaundiced eye to the media. It's the sound of change, the feeling of ground shifting beneath one's feet, and the entrance of an entirely new way of thinking. It's the effective beginning of what's arguably the boldest career in music history, the yawning vortex into the complex mind, supernatural wordplay, and folk techniques of a vocalist/guitarist whose name is forever associated with transformation.

Mobile Fidelity is humbled to have the privilege of mastering the iconic LP from the original master tapes, presenting it in its original take-notice mono sound, and pressing it on 45RPM LPs at RTI. Strictly limited to 3,000 copies, the end result is the finest, most transparent mono analog edition of The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan ever produced. Never before has the resonance of his nylon guitar strings, fingerpicked notes, shivering harmonica fills, or plainspoken timbre possessed such directness, clarity, openness, body, or realism.

As the preferred mix at the time of the recording, the mono version presents Dylan as he and his producers originally intended. More intimate, focused, and direct than its stereo counterpart, the mono edition places Dylan's vocals in the heart of the musical action and as one with the accompaniment. It paints listeners an incredibly accurate portrait of the attention-getting, concrete mass of sound that features no artificial panning and straight-ahead immersion into the music. With the advantage of wider and deeper grooves, the 45RPM pressing affords the opportunity to detect more information and lavish in extra richness. Whether it's the exaggerated nasal accents employed on Down the Highway or the decay of each strummed line on the entirely acoustic album, previously concealed details, microdynamics, and ambient cues surface - enhancing the listeners' experience and taking them inside Columbia's Studio A.

Exponentially surpassing the potential he demonstrated on his debut, Dylan became a mirror of the concerns, issues, and feelings confronting the nation. Writing and singing with penetrating honesty, observational wit, moral conviction, and scathing emotion, he digs into the madness of war (Masters of War, A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall), hypocrisy of segregation (Oxford Town), urgency of civil rights and freedom (Blowin' in the Wind), and multiple angles of unrequited love (Girl From the North Country, Don't Think Twice It's All Right) with a literate astuteness and depth that, nearly 50 years later, still leave audiences slack-jawed. Satire, absurdist humor, and traditional blues also pepper the album, which rests upon graceful melodies and sparse, poignant patterns.

Viewed as protest songs, love songs, folk songs, or talking blues songs, the material on The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan remains amongst the most astonishing and imaginative ever committed to tape. It deserves - as much as you deserve - a fidelity that makes as closely intimate as possible the music's connection with you. You deserve this mono edition.

Jefferson Airplane's 1967 Psychedelic Breakthrough First Record to Put Countercultural San Francisco Scene on Mainstream Music Map: Includes Top 10 Hits Someone to Love and White Rabbit

Acid-Rock Experimentalism and Folk-Based Arrangements Yield Mysteriousness, Darkness, and Beauty: Grace Slick's Clarion-Call Singing Matches Virtuosic Playing of Band Members and Guest Jerry Garcia

They were the best of times for Jefferson Airplane, and the good vibes are heard throughout the band's iconic Surrealistic Pillow. The group's first album with vocalist Grace Slick and drummer Spencer Dryden, the 1967 effort bowed as the first psychedelic-rock breakout from the potent San Francisco scene, climbing to #3 and boasting two Top 10 singles. By bringing the then-unpolluted counterculture to the attention of the mainstream, the effort ranked by Rolling Stone #146 on its 500 Greatest Albums of All Time eradicated boundaries and opened up creative vistas for a parade of likeminded artists that followed. Mobile Fidelity's analog reissue honors this legacy with an edition that presents the groundbreaking music with incredible realism.

Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed at RTI, Mobile Fidelity's 180g 45RPM mono 2LP set grants Surrealistic Pillow audiophile-grade sound remarkable for its sense of balance, clarity, and tonality. While fans have always preferred the original mono version of the LP, it went out of print soon after its release, causing prices to soar.

Offering wider, deeper grooves for better information retrieval and superior pacing, this deluxe set gives listeners the chance to enjoy Jefferson Airplane's blockbuster set in faithful-to-the-original mono without having to pay a premium. Along with immersive detail and dynamics, the level of instrumental and vocal separation allows the sensory-altering songs' complexities to emerge with full-bloom color and renewed perspective. Mobile Fidelity puts the surrealism back into Surrealistic Pillow.

The Beatles' Original Mono Studio Album Remastered At Abbey Road Directly From The Analogue Masters For Vinyl Release By Sean Magee and Steve Berkowitz

Lacquers Cut Using Neumann VMS-80 Lathe

Manufactured For The World At Optimal Media In Germany, The Beatles' Albums Are Presented In Their Original Glory, Both Sonically And In Their Packaging.

The Beatles in mono: This is how most listeners first heard the group in the 1960s, when mono was the predominant audio format. Up until 1968, each Beatles album was given a unique mono and stereo mix, but the group always regarded the mono as primary. The Beatles' nine U.K. albums, the American-compiled Magical Mystery Tour, and the Mono Masters collection of non-album tracks will be released in mono on 180-gram vinyl LPs with faithfully replicated artwork. Newly mastered from the analogue master tapes, each album will be available both individually and within a lavish, limited 14-LP boxed edition, The Beatles In Mono, which also includes a 108-page hardbound book.

In an audiophile-minded undertaking, The Beatles' acclaimed mono albums have been newly mastered for vinyl from quarter-inch master tapes at Abbey Road Studios by GRAMMY®-winning engineer Sean Magee and GRAMMY®-winning mastering supervisor Steve Berkowitz. While The Beatles In Mono CD boxed set released in 2009 was created from digital remasters, for this new vinyl project, Magee and Berkowitz cut the records without using any digital technology. Instead, they employed the same procedures used in the 1960s, guided by the original albums and by detailed transfer notes made by the original cutting engineers. Working in the same room at Abbey Road where most of The Beatles' albums were initially cut, the pair first dedicated weeks to concentrated listening, fastidiously comparing the master tapes with first pressings of the mono records made in the 1960s. Using a rigorously tested Studer A80 machine to play back the precious tapes, the new vinyl was cut on a 1980s-era VMS80 lathe.

Via Michael Fremer (Analog Planet) on the mastering process:

The EQ applied was based upon the original cutting engineers' notes as well as careful listening to original first lacquer, first mother, first stamper EMI pressings (-1, 1, G matrix). The cartridge used was Ortofon's 2M Black.

It's important to remember that the tapes have aged-some as much as fifty years-and the monitoring, playback and mastering equipment have changed as well, even though the work was done in the very same room in which the originals were mastered. Solid state has replaced tubes in the cutting chain.

Lacquers were cut using Abbey Road Studios' Neumann VMS-80 lathe, equipped with a Neumann SX-74 cutter head. The originals were cut on a Scully lathe, perhaps with a Westrex cutter head.

    Highway 61 Revisited (MONO)

Ranked 4/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Highway 61 Revisited is a landmark -recorded in 1965, during the same tumultuous summer that had seen him plugging in his electric guitar at the Newport Folk Festival, Highway 61 Revisited is Bob Dylan diving head-first into the rock and roll maelstrom, backed by the studio prowess of Al Kooper, Michael Bloomfield and others on such devastating classics as the epochal Like A Rolling Stone. This Sundazed edition is an exact reproduction of the rare original 1965 mono album, featuring the original sleeve-notes and photos, and all-analog mastering from the absolute original source tapes.

This is the second release in Sundazed's ongoing campaign in cooperation with Columbia Records and Bob Dylan's organization to restore and issue the Bob Dylan catalog on vinyl, in gorgeous, accurate analog sound.

Ranked 301/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Ranking near the top of anyone's list of Dylan's masterpieces, this post-motorcycle-accident career-turning-point finds Dylan veering from the razor-edged desperation of All Along The Watchtower to the gentle, back-porch sway of I'll Be Your Baby Tonight, and all points in between. Back at last, in its ultra-rare original mono mix, this landmark LP -cut with the cream of Nashville's studio cats and generally credited as a blueprint for the era's country-rock movement -sizzles on Sundazed 180-gram vinyl, as always, the industry standard.

The Best-Selling Jazz Album Of All Time

    A Cornerstone Of Recorded Music

So much has been said and written about Miles Davis Kind Of Blue, its virtually impossible to summarize all the necessary info to the length of this note. We could simply list some facts (best sold Jazz album ever worldwide). We could try to explain why its the best jazz album ever made, but the music itself will do that to you. As Bill Evans said in the original liner notes for the record, the band did not play through any of these pieces prior to recording. Miles Davis laid out the themes before the tape rolled and the band improvised.

Younger Than Yesterday, the Byrds' fourth albumand in some people's eyes, the pinnacle of their artwastes no time, bursting out of the gates with still another national smash, So You Want To Be A Rock 'N' Roll Star. Spotlighting the jazzy trumpet of Hugh Masekela, this paean to outrageous rock stardom was a highlight of the Byrds' appearance at the Monterey Pop Festival, possibly the most thrilling gathering of the musical tribes, ever. Every bit as exciting was Have You Seen Her Face, the album's second radio hit. A return to space-rock, C.T.A.-102, should have been nominated for a Hugo, the annual prize for the best work in science fiction. The standout track ofYesterday, nevertheless, is My Back Pages, a good bet as the best-ever blend of lush Byrds harmonies and jangling guitar with Bob Dylan at his Finnegan's Wake lyrical best.

Unavailable for over 40 years, we're proud to present the first ever reissue of this monumental recording in its original, highly-sought-after mono incarnation, cut directly from the original Columbia Recordings analog mono masters, with perfect artwork restoration and meticulously faithful mastering.

Ranked 232/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

The Byrds burst upon an already fertile pop/rock music scene in the spring of 1965 with a stunning retooling of Bob Dylan's Mr. Tambourine Man that changed everything. The debut album of the same name that followed, featuring mindblowing folk-rock gems like The Bells Of Rhymney, I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better and Chimes Of Freedom, was so aromatically intoxicating it even lit a fire under the Beatles across the Atlantic, beavering away on Rubber Soul. The Mr. Tambourine Man longplayer is so bountiful it almost doubles as a Byrds greatest hits, volume one. Here Without You and I Knew Id Want You weave a sense of mystery into the Byrds' eerie harmonic tapestry. And All I Want To Do, along with Spanish Harlem Incident, once again, connect Dylan's magic to the pop charts in a way only McGuinn, Crosby, Clark, Hillman and Clarke could pull off.

The Beatles' Original Mono Studio Album Remastered At Abbey Road Directly From The Analogue Masters For Vinyl Release By Sean Magee and Steve Berkowitz

Lacquers Cut Using Neumann VMS-80 Lathe

Ranked 10/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

THE BEATLES is released in mono on two 180-gram vinyl LPs with faithfully replicated artwork, newly mastered from the analogue master tapes.

Bob Dylan On Numbered Limited Edition 180 Gram Mono 45RPM 2LP From Mobile Fidelity

Understated 1962 Debut Launched Immeasurably Influential Career

Album Stands as Clearest Connection to Dylan's Purist Folk Roots

Ghosts of Woody Guthrie and Blues Legends Appear Throughout Recording of Originals and Covers

Mastered From The Original Master Tapes And Strictly Limited To 3,000 Copies

Mobile Fidelity Mono 45RPM 2LP Features Unparalleled Directness And Sound Dylan, Producers Originally Intended

Made when mono was still king, Bob Dylan's self-titled 1962 debut is as understated of an entrance as any significant musician as ever made. Already well-versed in American roots music, Dylan simultaneously pays homage to tradition and extends it by putting his own stamp on classic material that metaphorically functions as the soil of our contemporary songs and styles. Free of ego, and performed with masterful conviction, Bob Dylan ranks with the debut efforts of similar artistic giants Elvis Presley and the Rolling Stones.

Mastered from the original master tapes, pressed at RTI, and strictly limited to 3,000 copies, Mobile Fidelity's restored 180g mono 45RPM 2LP analog version brings the contents of this seminal release as closest as they've ever come to master tape-quality in the original mono configuration. Transparent to the source, the simple sounds of Dylan's voice, acoustic guitar, and harmonica take on lifelike perspective and directness-the husk and bark to which Robert Shelton referred in his now-legendary New York Times review of a Dylan appearance at Gerde's Folk City. MoFi has made possible an inexpensive time-traveling trip back to the Greenwich Village coffeehouses and folk clubs in which Dylan cut his teeth, albeit in much better fidelity and without any annoying background chatter. Wider grooves mean more information reaches your ears.

As the preferred mix at the time of the recording, the mono version presents Dylan as he and his producers originally intended. Since the separation of the stereo versions isn't as sharp, the mono edition places Dylan's vocals in the heart of the musical action and as one with the accompaniment. It paints listeners an incredibly accurate portrait of the attention-getting, concrete mass of sound that features no artificial panning and straight-ahead immersion into the music. This is how almost everyone first heard this timeless album-making the mono mix all the more historically valuable and truthful.

Much has been made of the commercial indifference that greeted the album upon its low-key release. Yet focusing on sales figures and the reaction of a public not yet hip to Dylan's name or music is to miss the forest for the trees. Distinguished from the era's other folk efforts by way of the determination, brazenness, and lived-through-this worldliness Dylan approaches the material and sings the songs, Dylan lays the groundwork for the path he'd soon trailblaze and everyone else would follow.

By nodding to Woody Guthrie at the same time he completely re-imagines a sobering tune such as Blind Lemon Jefferson's See That My Grave Is Kept Clean, Dylan straddles the past and future. He also displays, with challenging authority and savant-like expertise, the ability to handle weighty topics such as death, sorrow, and lamentation with the vaudeville flair, bluesy mannerisms, and poignant command of an artist three times his age.

As Dylan scholar and pop-culture critic Greil Marcus observed in 2010, Everybody knew Joan Baez and the Kingston Trio; if you knew Bob Dylan, you knew something other people didn't, something that soon enough everybody had to know. Within a year, an album could put an adjective in front of the singer's name as if it were already common coin. It all starts here.

    Safe As Milk

Captain Beefheart's 1967 debut album Safe As Milk introduced the world to a one-of-a-kind visionary whose unique output had no precedent in contemporary music. Beefheart, aka Don Van Vliet, filtered the raw influence of the blues and R&B through his own singular musical sensibility and left-field lyrical wordplay, and surrounded himself with some of the most talented and inventive young musicians around. The result was an album that, even in the heady year in which it was released, sounded like nothing else, and the stage for one of rock's most iconoclastic and idiosyncratic careers.

With backup from the first, and perhaps finest, incarnation of Beefheart's legendary Magic Band (including future solo star Ry Cooder on guitar and teenage drum prodigy John "Drumbo" French), and production from future studio superstar Richard Perry, Beefheart unveils his fully-formed sound and vision on such landmark tracks as "Zig Zag Wanderer," "Abba Zaba," "Dropout Boogie," "I'm Glad" and "Electricity" (covered two decades later by Sonic Youth).

Now released by Sundazed Music, this landmark album now sounds the way it was meant to sound, thanks to the restoration of Perry's rare original-and, to most fans, superior-mono mix, which was later altered by Beefheart's label without the artist's involvement. This definitive edition features authoritative new liner notes by Rolling Stone editor and longtime Beefheart enthusiast David Fricke.

"In mono, Safe As Milk is a powerful, concentrated revelation," Fricke writes, further noting, "Safe As Milk promised comfort, exotic nourishment and rude health-and delivered. Created in a year rich in historic debuts and transformative statements about rock's dynamic and expressive possibilities, Safe As Milk was so far in it was out."

Are You Experienced? (Music On Vinyl) (Mono)

Ranked 15/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Recordings for Are You Experienced had begun in late October 1966, producing a string of singles preceding the illustrious first album by the world's most famous guitarist. While recording, the future working relationship between engineer Eddie Kramer and Hendrix was forged. The debut album by The Jimi Hendrix Experience was initially issued in mono and then 'enhanced stereo' on later issues.

The UK cover photography was by Bruce Flemming. Releases in Europe had the words Jimi Hendrix placed above the title. These later issues were 'enhanced stereo', with tracks listed on the back.

The USA & Canadian issues were released after the band appeared at the Monterey Pop Festival in June 1967, along with The Who. Its art was directed by Ed Thrasher, using a Karl Ferris infra-red fish-eye photo. There is a key difference to the tracks on this album, with some removed and replaced by the earlier singles, plus a change to the running order. The spelling Foxey Lady appears in some of these issues, and has been adopted for the Music On Vinyl mono reissue.

Dylan's 1965 Landmark Blows Up Boundaries, Styles, Practicalities: Rock Music Becomes its Own Art Form

Wider Grooves, Superior Sound, Original Mono Mix, Meticulously Mastered

    Strictly Limited to 3,000 Copies

Best of Both Worlds: Dylan Pairs With a Band on Side One, Goes It Alone on Astonishing Solo Thought Dream Odysseys on Side Two

Epitome of Iconic: Everything from Cover Art to Sound to Attitude to Song Represents New Benchmark in Respective Categories

Bring it all back home - in mono. Originally designed by the artist for mono listening, Bob Dylan's Bringing It All Back Home represents the moment that pop and rock music became their own art form, expressions finally treated with the same seriousness and respect as classical and jazz. Incalculably influential, the 1965 landmark established myriad benchmarks in songwriting, sound, artwork, and performance. It served the world notice that Dylan was no longer just the virtuoso visionary tuned into the wants of the folk community. It's a disarming broadcast that declares Dylan's surroundings and personality, and those of his audiences, whether they knew it or not, drastically changed.

As part of its Bob Dylan catalog restoration series, Mobile Fidelity is humbled to have the privilege of mastering the iconic album on its world-renowned mastering system and pressing it on 45RPM LPs at RTI in its original mono format. Strictly limited to just 3,000 copies, the end result is the very finest, most transparent analog mono edition of Bringing It All Back Home ever produced. Forever renowned for its organic sound, the album's you-are-there-presence is fantastically enhanced on this superb version, with wider and deeper grooves affording playback of previously buried information.

Since Bringing It All Back Home features the most instrumentation Dylan implemented in arrangements at that stage of his career, the set is undoubtedly vivid in stereo - particularly the electric half. Yet the Minnesota native paid particular attention to the mono mix, which here presents Dylan with unparalleled directness. The record's second half sounds especially genuine, lifelike, and intimate in mono. It paints listeners an incredibly accurate portrait of the attention-getting mass of acoustic-based sound - and features no artificial panning or echo chamber of its stereo counterpart. Instead, you are immersed right into the music.

Indeed, the sonics on this Mobile Fidelity reissue are so realistic, balanced, and tonally accurate that acoustic guitars resonate with the woody decay they do as when you strum them on your lap. Equally vivid are the textures of the drum skins, amplified pitch of the electric guitars, and ambient hum of the interior space of Columbia's Studio B. Both the plugged-in and acoustic sides claim a discerning level of microdynamics, spaciousness, imaging, and warmth that will send even the most rabid Dylan fans into a tizzy.

More than 50 years after its release, Bringing It All Back Home continues to come on like a prophetic transmission from a savant who's privy to cerebral viewpoints, mental transferences, and thought dreams elusive to everyone but him. With the flipside of the album, Dylan strings together four of the most unflinching, forward-reaching, and boundary-breaking acoustic-based compositions ever played. In addressing liberating psychedelia, lost innocence, institutional naivetÉ, and tarnished relationships, respectively, Dylan constructs a compositional quartet/suite that functions as metaphor for his waving goodbye to political folk music's imprisoning rules and bounding restrictiveness - and a rough guide to the transcendental poetry, shape-shifting vocal phrasing, and alternate tunings he now embraced.

Side One remains one of the boldest cohesive artistic statements ever made. Dylan, forever throwing down the gauntlet to detractors and narrow-minded fans, plugging in with a band and kicking it all off with the in-your-face hootenanny Subterranean Homesick Blues before romping, slashing, and rolling through Maggie's Farm, another fun albeit caustic indictment of homogenous thought and bohemian method. Dylan's attitude undergoes a self-awakening metamorphosis, his lyrical scope broadened, his hallucinogenic interests increased, his willingness to embrace paradoxes and shake them out with mind-convulsing aptitude in line with his progression towards bizarre imagery.

Ranked 31 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, Bringing It All Back Home marks the moment when paradigms permanently shifted, preexisting standards fell, and fresh aural, poetic, and sonic dialects came to fore. Albums don't come more vetted. You deserve to experience the mono edition in the finest-possible quality, just as Dylan intended.

John Wesley Harding On Numbered Limited Edition Mono 180 Gram 45 RPM 2LP From Mobile Fidelity

Stripped-Back, Unobtrusive 1967 Album A Mellow Return To Dylan's Roots And Harbinger of Country Rock

Includes Original Version Of All Along The Watchtower

Leave it to Bob Dylan to follow three of the most pioneering electric-based albums in history by deviating from the norm and straying from expectation - but continuing to work in the mono format. Hinting at a return to his folk roots and firmly pointing toward the field that became country rock, John Wesley Harding breathes with reassurance and freshness, the unobtrusive sound of an artist re-engaging with the past, forging a future, and stepping into new realms after recovering from an accident and unimaginable pressure.

Mastered from the original master tapes, pressed at RTI, and strictly limited to 3,000 copies, this restored mono version presents the 1967 album with finite details and in the original sound Dylan intended. Immediately notable for the slimmed-down instrumentation, brisk flow, and simple approach, the record continues to endure via a rustic, era-defying naturalism tied to the organic sounds and warm production swathing Dylan's acoustic guitar, mellow voice, breezy harmonica, and minor accompaniments. All these traits translate with incredible realism and lifelike air on this reissue, which also brings out the low end of Charlie McCoy's bass with previously unheard character. With the advantage of wider and deeper grooves, the 45RPM pressing also affords the opportunity to detect more information and lavish in the extra richness.

The preferred mix at the time of the recording, the mono version presents Dylan with unparalleled directness. Since the separation of the stereo versions isn't as sharp, this mono edition places Dylan's vocals in the heart of the musical action and as one with the all-star accompaniment. It paints listeners an incredibly accurate portrait of the attention-getting, concrete mass of sound that features no artificial panning and straight-ahead immersion into the music. As much as any Dylan record, the music here fits the mono spectrum to a proverbial 't.'

Recorded around the same time as the sessions that yielded The Basement Tapes, John Wesley Harding came together after just three studio sessions and approximately 12 hours of time. While many specifics are shrouded in mystery, a majority of songs are tied to Biblical figures, ominous matters, and morality themes. Making not just a clear sonic break from his most recent efforts, but a songwriting transformation as well, Dylan embraces a strict economy of scale, dropping beat-poetry techniques in favor of stanzas that waste no words and progress narratives at every turn. It's as if the Bard is saying that truth is spoken here. Few, if any artists, have captured the American myth and its population of immigrants, drifters, and outlaws with such convincing scope and parabolic sagacity.

Combined with the lyrical evolution and unabashed move towards country conventions, Dylan manages to turn popular music on its side, forging a subdued hybrid style no other peers had yet attempted. Arriving during a period of intense experimentalism and psychedelia, John Wesley Harding functions as a sigh of relief, a piano- and pedal steel-flavored set steeped in requisite simplicity in an environment that was increasingly marked by chaos and madness.

Climbing to number two on the Billboard charts and quickly tallying one million in sales, the pared-down work resonated with a public ensnared by its myriad charms. Then, of course, there's the utter brilliance of every one of the songs here, each seemingly occupying a timeless space that suggests they could've been made in 1967, 1937, or 2007. With All Along the Watchtower, Dylan landed upon a tune that would soon become one of the most-covered and revered tracks in history. And yet it isn't even a standout on an album on which every note just belongs.
