    Sad Clowns & Hillbillies

Heartland rocker John Mellencamp will release his 23rd full-length album, Sad Clowns & Hillbillies featuring Carlene Carter, the daughter of June Carter Cash and stepdaughter of Johnny Cash, on Republic Records. Sad Clowns & Hillbillies returns Mellencamp to the musical eclecticism that is, itself, a reflection of his wide-ranging musings on life. John Mellencamp is an authentic voice of American music and master storyteller with a commitment to creating traditional rock & roll, bittersweet songs of happiness and melancholia, and fervent political dissent. His passions and experiences resonate beautifully in this showcase of his music. Sad Clowns & Hillbillies is produced by John Mellencamp.

Sad Clowns and Hillbillies is the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's follow up to 2014's critically-acclaimed, Plain Spoken, Mellencamp's fourth consecutive Top 20 album, dating back to 2007's Freedom Road.

    Heaven Is Earth

Self Defense Family are one of the most prolific Punk bands out there today. Through countless releases and as many musical contributors (they have had more than ten active members at any given time), the collective has grown in both sound and vision.

"Heaven Is Earth" was recorded at four classic indie/punk studios by a diverse group of engineers: Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios (Mind Eraser, etc), Kurt Ballou at God City Studios (Converge, etc), Mark Millar at Sone Lab (Dinosaur Jr, etc), and Jon Low at Miner Street Recordings (Kurt Vile, etc). Each engineer leaving their own distinct audio fingerprint on the collection of songs.

Opener "In My Defense Self Me Defend" percussively wanders as warped guitars weave a pillow for Patrick Kindlon's introspective prose."Talia" introduces both piano and harmonica to the formula, all of it swirling and dancing around a throbbing bass line. "Ditko" exists in a similar sonic place as well, but utilizes textural guitars and subtle effects to set the pensive mood. It's not all sad clown music though. "Prison Ring" picks things up in the middle of the album with a Mekons like urgency. While "Everybody Wants a Prize for Feeling" welcomes a whimsical stomp akin to The Fall. These reluctantly upbeat songs lead to the title track "Heaven Is Earth". A song that descends with a delicate airiness while dealing out some of the heaviest moments of lyrical personal reflection. "Basic Skills" fills a similar space as well. A beautiful construct of a song, rich in melancholia but built on some of the most memorable melody ever from the band. Never leaving quietly, Self Defense Family then offer the closer "Dave Sim". Kicking the door open for one last high volume, pessimistic hurrah.

    Shootenanny!

Shootenanny! is the fifth studio album by the Eels, released in 2003. The album's name comes from a neologism coined by Eels front-man Mark Oliver Everett for a social gathering at which participants engage in folk singing and sometimes dancing, but mostly the shooting of guns. Saturday Morning was released as a promotional single with the B-sides Her, Waltz of the Naked Clowns, and Sad Foot Sign.

Two Classic Everly Brothers Albums Pressed On A Single 180-Gram Vinyl LP

While the Everlys' sound was diluted by more elaborate production in the '60s, that's not at all true on this LP, which is one of their very best. Included are six stellar contributions by Boudleaux Bryant and Felice Bryant (particularly "Some Sweet Day," "Sleepless Nights," and "You Thrill Me (Through and Through)"), one of Don Everly's best compositions ("So Sad"), and incredible harmony singing throughout. On 'A Date With The Everly Brothers' there are some very fine songs. Particularly good are the smash hit "Cathy's Clown," their raucous cover of Little Richard's "Lucille," "Love Hurts" (which preceded Roy Orbison's hit version), and "So How Come" (covered by the Beatles in 1963).

The Golden Hits Of The Everly Brothers

Mastered from the Original Warner Bros. Tapes by Joe Reagoso

Don and Phil Everly are most certainly two of the most important figures in popular music history. Whether rock, pop, adult contemporary or country music, The Everly Brothers have consistently rose to the occasion with their successful harmonies, musicianship, and of course the knack to pick songs and write their own material which has made them legends in their own time.

Their legendary status has put them on world stages for over five decades and they have been honored and adored by both the fans and huge rock music icons like The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and Simon and Garfunkel. When the Everly Brothers joined the Warner Bros. label in the late '50s, their marquee value was just beginning to skyrocket. A long term lucrative deal, unprecedented at the time, afforded the boys the real opportunity to churn out hit after hit in record time.

While making a successful string of albums and hit singles, their greatest hits LP, simply titled The Golden Hits Of The Everly Brothers, showcased their star power in 1962. Filled with a dozen of their biggest hits like Cathys Clown, Thats Old Fashioned, Crying In The Rain, Ebony Eyes and their classic interpretation of Little Richards Lucille, the album itself was another home run for the duo. It rode the charts for months during its initial release and has been a consistent seller in various formats since the original album was discontinued decades ago!

Friday Music kicks off The Everly Brothers 180 Gram Audiophile Series with their greatest hits album The Golden Hits Of The Everly Brothers. This first time ever high grade audiophile vinyl release is mastered from the original Warner Bros. tapes by Joe Reagoso at Friday Music Studios and at Capitol Records with Ron McMaster. It also includes the brilliant album cover photography of Michael Levin and the all of the great songs you remember including other major Top 40 smashes like Dont Blame Me, Walk Right Back and the masterful ballad So Sad.

To keep your rock and roll investment in mint shape, Friday Music has also enclosed a vinyl lined album sleeve to protect the music and a poly bag for the album cover to enhance your listening for years to come.
