    Martinis & Bikinis

    White Colored Vinyl!

On vinyl for the first time ever!

Sam's 1994 masterpiece Martinis & Bikinis is reissued on vinyl (for the first time ever) by Omnivore Recordings! Produced by T Bone Burnett and released in 1994, this is a true classic. Sam chose to add four bonus tracks, among them a brand new recording of "Strawberry Road" that was cut specifically for this release.

With Martinis & Bikinis, Sam Phillips has revitalized the Beatlesque category with some substantial songwriting and a woman's voice, which turns the whole sound upside down. The Beatles hardly exhausted the possibilities of their late-'60s sound, and Phillips has the hooks and aphorisms to give that sound a second lease on life. Phillips has rewritten two old Beatles songs into Strawberry Road and Same Rain; she has even recorded a John Lennon composition, Gimme Some Truth. Phillips's husband, T-Bone Burnett, cowrote two of the songs and produced all 13, and he adds the Lennonesque touches of guitars recorded backward and sweet harmonized vocals pitted against distorted guitars. But none of this would matter if the songs weren't so good.

11 Never-Before-Released Tracks By The Killer, Including A Special Bonus Track!

Liner Notes Written By Critically Acclaimed Author And Sun Records Expert Colin Escott

Jerry Lee Lewis was one of rock 'n' roll's brightest stars - and one of its first casualties. Ten years after his career imploded, he spectacularly remade himself in country music. Altogether, he scored more than 40 country hits, in addition to era-defining rock classics like "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" and "Great Balls of Fire." Those early rock 'n' roll hits were produced by Sam Phillips at Sun Records in Memphis.

Jerry Lee left Sun in 1963, but, like Elvis, returned often. By the mid-1970s, the studio was run by Sam Phillips' son, Knox, who produced one of the era's biggest hits: the Amazing Rhythm Aces' "Third Rate Romance." Like his father, Knox intuitively understood how to produce Jerry Lee Lewis, allowing him free rein to plunder his subconscious for half-forgotten songs and reimagine them as Jerry Lee Lewis songs, just as he'd done with "Whole Lotta Shakin'" twenty years earlier.

Over the course of several late nights in the 1970s, Knox recorded Jerry Lee Lewis as he crossed the breadth of American music from Stephen Foster to Jim Croce's still-current hit "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown." Alongside a nineteenth century gospel standard, "Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior," Jerry drawled his way imperiously through pop classics like "Harbor Lights," and timeless country hits like "Room Full of Roses." Although he wrote none of the songs, Jerry Lee imprints himself forcefully upon them all, perhaps never more so than on the bitterly regretful "That Kind of Fool."

THE KNOX PHILLIPS SESSIONS: THE UNRELEASED RECORDINGS features eleven songs that capture one of the true, enduring giants of American music at his best. Lewis played the music that he wanted to record and made every song into a unique expression of his wild, eclectic soul. There have been plenty of Jerry Lee Lewis records, but none like this!

    1. Bad, Bad Leroy Brown
    2. Ragged But Right
    3. Room Full Of Roses

    Now Here's Johnny Cash

For what would be his 10th album release, Sun continued to mine its deep reservoir of Cash recordings for Now Here's Johnny Cash. Inaugural single "Hey Porter" makes its first LP appearance and signals a recurring theme for Cash's songs, trains and the American railroad system. It also contains a cover of Don Gibson's "Oh Lonesome Me," which hit #13 on the Country Singles Chart and #93 on the Pop Singles Chart. Though well into his Columbia career at this point, Sam Phillips and Sun continued to be a major part of Cash's success.

    NEW LORE - THE ALBUM:

I've always been tied to the idea of having each record sound different from the one before it, and there's no exception with this one. My writing on this one is really reflective of the story that I've been living out over the past few years--as a musician, a father, and a human trying to navigate this crazy world. It's also the stories that we all share: the everyday stuff, and the big stuff. As always, I poured my heart into these songs. When I came across the opportunity to link up with an internationally acclaimed producer who I have long admired, I knew he would be able to add some deep mojo to the recordings.

Matt Ross-Spang (Grammy-Winning engineer of Jason Isbell's Something More Than Free, one of my favorite records of last year) is a musical Willy Wonka, and his Chocolate Factory is the legendary Sam Phillips Studio in Memphis, TN. This place has an unmatched soul and a vibe that stems from the history of Memphis as a haven for many of my musical heroes. I'm incredibly honored and excited to have worked with Matt and the team at Sam Phillips to make this record the best that it can be.

The all-times rockabilly legend Carl Perkins was born into humble beginnings and spent his early years picking cotton and playing electric guitar in a band with his brothers. Signed to Sun Records by Sam Phillips in 1954, he didn't get the big one till he recorded Blue Suede Shoes in 1956. After a fairly slow start, the song with the tremendous beat and novel words about the blue suede shoes started moving and became a million seller. When Johnny Cash left Sun to go to Columbia in 1958, Carl followed him over and recorded Whole Lotta Shakin in June of that year, reinterpreting most of the Sun Records singles hits that made him the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame elected star he later became.

Johnny Cash Unseen Cash on One-Sided 180g Import LP w/ B-Side Engraving + Book

Think You've Seen It All by Johnny Cash? Think You've Heard It All by Johnny Cash? Think Again!

An innovative artist like Johnny Cash deserves an innovative package. Here, striking unpublished images from early in Cash's career are packaged with a one-sided LP of Cash on-stage in 1957 and 1959. The flipside of this limited edition LP features a portrait of the music legend engraved into the LP's audiophile-grade 180g vinyl.

Presented in a 16-page hardcover book, Unseen Cash from William Speer's Studio is a true collector's item complete with extraordinary photos and 12-tracks of rarely heard audio! Released to coincide with the 80th anniversary of Johnny Cash's birth!

In 1955, at the dawn of his long career, Sun Records president Sam Phillips sent Johnny Cash to a nearby photographer, William Speer. Cash was fortunate because Speer was an innovative craftsman, influenced by vintage Hollywood photographers who used light in a dramatic new way. Speer shot photo sessions with Cash, between 1955 and 1958. A couple of the images were published in the 1950s, but the rest were stored away until now!

Considered One Of The Best Rock N Roll Holiday Records Of All Time And Includes A Roster Of Legendary Soul Artists From Atlantic Records' Halcyon Years Of 1960s Soul

Mastered From The Original Stereo Source With Lacquers Cut At Sam Phillips Recording Service In Memphis

    180g Vinyl Housed In A Single Pocket Tip-On Stoughton Paper-Wrapped UV-Gloss Sleeve

Originally released as an Atlantic holiday compilation in 1968 and long out of print on vinyl, Soul Christmas is an 11 track collection of songs featuring Soul legends such as Otis Redding, Carla Thomas, Solomon Burke, Joe Tex, Clarence Carter, William Bell, King Curtis, and Booker T & The MGs. Apart from nods to classics like White Christmas done by Otis, Booker T's Jingle Bells, and the R&B favorite What Are You Doing New Year's Eve (featuring Sax man King Curtis along with a guitar solo by Duane Allman), the songs are tailor-made originals that fit the style of the respective artists. Carter's Back Door Santa is a hilariously salacious cut; Tex gives us a preacher-like I'll Make Everyday Christmas; and Thomas is at her most cute and innocent with Gee Whiz, It's Christmas. Redding's version of Merry Christmas Baby is an obvious standout, while Bell's Everyday Will Be Like a Holiday is the only bona fide charted single. The album is ranked #9 on Rolling Stone's 25 Greatest Christmas Albums of All Time list.

Way Down In The Jungle Room

RCA Records and Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, will release Way Down In The Jungle Room, a definitive new 2-LP collection of Elvis Presley's last studio recordings.

Way Down In The Jungle Room is an essential and welcome addition for every fan's library. In the mid-1970s, Elvis, the King of Rock 'n' Roll, became another kind of pioneer as one of the world's first major recording artists to create fully-realized professional level records in the intimacy of his own home studio.

With original recordings executive-produced by Elvis Presley with producer Felton Jarvis (who'd helmed most of Elvis' records from 1966-1977), Way Down In The Jungle Room features rare outtakes laid down during two mythic sessions (February 2-8, 1976 and October 28-30, 1976) in Graceland's den -- known as the Jungle Room -- which was converted into a professional caliber recording studio for the purpose of capturing these indelible performances. The outtakes have been newly mixed by Grammy Award-winning engineer Matt Ross-Spang at Sam Phillips Recording in Memphis, Tennessee.

For these sessions, Elvis was backed by many members of his longtime touring band including: James Burton (guitar), Ronnie Tutt (drums), David Briggs (keyboards), Glenn D. Hardin (keyboards), Jerry Scheff (bass), Norbert Putnam (bass) and J.D. Sumner & the Stamps (vocals).

In 1976, when the tracks for Way Down In The Jungle Room were cut, Elvis Presley had been an RCA Records recording artist for 20 years, inventing the sound and attitude that defined the very essence of rock 'n' roll. That same year, RCA released The Sun Sessions, the label's first official collection of the electrifying 1954-1955 Elvis recordings that launched his career while transforming the world.

Having entered his 40s, Elvis Presley was evolving as an artist and, rather than bask in the nostalgia of his 1950s watershed recordings, was looking for new ways to express himself musically. Needing to create new sounds for a new era, Elvis Presley--who'd been charting on Country and Adult Contemporary stations -- decided to convert the Hawaiian-themed Jungle Room (a relaxation den in his fabled Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee) into an informal home studio, where he could lay down tracks the way he wanted, outside the budget and scheduling pressures of the professional studios he'd worked in previously. With the help of RCA's mobile recording truck and longtime producer Felton Jarvis and engineer Mike Moran at the board, Elvis tackled a far-ranging mix of country and pop covers (Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain, I'll Never Fall in Love Again, Danny Boy, Solitaire) and late-period classics of his catalog, such as Moody Blue and Way Down.

The Outtakes was mixed for this collection at the Sam Phillips Recording Service in Memphis and includes both outtakes and in-the-studio dialog, providing a fly-on-the-wall experience of what the sessions were like. With the exception of She Thinks I Still Care, the performances have been sequenced in the order they were recorded.

    Pinetop Perkins

Perkins began his blues existence primarily as a guitarist, but a mid-40's encounter with an outraged knife-toting chorus girl at a nightspot left him with severed tendons in his left arm. That dashed his guitar aspirations, but Joe Willie Perkins came back strong from the injury, concentrating solely on piano. He traveled to Helena with Robert Nighthawk in 1943, playing with the elegant slide guitarist on his radio program. Perkins soon switched over to rival Sonny Boy Williamson's beloved King Biscuit Time radio show and remained for an extended period.

Perkins accompanied Nighthawk on a 1950 session for the Chess brothers that produced Jackson Town Gal, but Chicago couldn't hold him at the time. He hit the road, pausing at Sam Phillips's studios in Memphis long enough for Perkins to wax his first version of Pinetop's Boogie Woogie in 1953, then headed back to the windy city in 1969 when Otis Spann split from Muddy Waters. That is when the stage was set for Pinetop Perkins's reemergence. It was only then that his rolling mastery of the ivories began to assume outsized proportions.

After joining Muddy Waters, Pinetop made up for precious lost time in the studio. Discs for Antone's, Omega (Portrait of a Delta Bluesman, a solo outing that includes fascinating interview segments), Deluge, Earwig, and several other firms ensure that his boogie legacy won't be forgotten in decades to come.

Pinetop at a young 87 years old admits he wasn't the originator of the seminal piano piece Pinetop's Boogie Woogie, but it's a safe bet that more people associate it nowadays with Pinetop than with the man who devised it in the first place, Clarence Pinetop Smith. Pinetop plays 6 songs on a Steinway Concert Grand 9' model D with Jimmy D. Lane on guitar.

The American guitarist, singer and songwriter Gary Lourdis was founding member of the Minneapolis-based band The Jayhawks and their principal songwriter and vocalist after the departure of Mark Olson. He eventually was responsible for moving the band from folk-country towards a more progressive, pop sound. The band formed in 1985 in Minneapolis and appeared on Letterman in 2003, performing "Save It For A Rainy Day," off their Rainy Day Music album. They recorded seven albums for Columbia before going on hiatus in 2005. The band briefly reunited in 2011 for a new album and tour only to return to a hiatus when Olson left again in 2012.

Louris' additional credits include being a member of the intermittent Midwest collective, Golden Smog that recorded two albums on Rykodisc and two albums on Lost Highway from 1995 to 2007, as well as co-writing "Jealous of Moon" with Chris Thile in 2005-the song appeared on the Nickel Creek album Why Should The Fire Die?-and songs for the 2008 Dixie Chicks album Taking The Long Way.

In 2008, Rykodisc released Gary's first solo album Vagabonds. The album was produced by Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson. In an interview, Louris was quoted as saying," It wasn't my intention to recapture the '70s or anything, that's just what comes out when I sing .Once we got the band together for the sessions, it actually reminded me of how The Jayhawks were when we started out. The music is new and exciting for them, and it was good for me to feed off of that." Vagabonds was recorded in Laurel Canyon, which is famous for being the center of the 1970s singer-songwriter scene, and is expanded here with bonus material from the sessions-many making their debut to vinyl, and others new to any physical format

One of the most unique, original and unusual rock bands to burst onto the alternative scene in the 90s, Morphine was originally formed by vocalist/bassist Mark Sandman, saxophonist Dana Colley and drummer Jerome Deupree (later replaced by Billy Conway) in Cambridge, Mass in 1989. They expertly combined blues, jazz and rock elements into a very distinct style, anchored by Sandman's deep, crooning, beat-style vocals. Rather than having an electric guitar as the focal point like most rock bands, the trio's sound was built around Sandman's two-string electric bass (often deployed with a slide) and Colley's growling, baritone sax which was dubbed as "low-rock." The band enjoyed critical acclaim but saw mixed results commercially. They did enjoy higher profile success overseas, especially in Belgium, Portugal France and Australia where they were featured on music television programming frequently and filled much larger venues.

After five studio albums and extensive touring, Morphine disbanded after Mark tragically died of a heart attack performing on stage at the Giardini del Principe in Palestrina, Italy. Surviving members have soldiered on in various incarnations, the most recent being the Vapors of Morphine that will be on tour through the summer of 2017. "Yes" was the band's third studio record originally released on Rykodisc in March of 1995. It was their first album to make the Billboard Top 200 where it peaked at #101, but did not sell as well abroad as their two previous records.

Criminally out of print on wax for nine years, Run Out Groove is reissuing this classic from the 90s as a deluxe expanded 2LP edition that includes a 2nd disc of many previously unreleased outtakes, live tracks and rare B-sides making their debut on vinyl.

American indie-pop band Luna originally formed in 1991 by singer/guitarist Dean Wareham
after the breakup of Galaxie 500. After Wareham quit Galaxie 500 he signed a demo deal
with Elektra Records, then recruited Justin Harwood from the Chills and Stanley Demeski of
the Feelies, and this line up recorded their debut, Lunapark. After the album's release, Sean
Eden was recruited on guitar and the four piece recorded a number of cover versions that
would become the Slide EP and then toured the U.S. This began the band's association with
successfully recording and playing cover songs.

In 1993, the band supported the reformed Velvet Underground on their European tour, after which they recorded their second album.
Bewitched was recorded in NY, released in '94 and included Velvet Underground guitarist
Sterling Morrison on two tracks. In 1995, the band went into Sorcerer Sound Studio with
producer Pat McCarthy to record their third album, Penthouse. The album featured Television
guitarist Tom Verlaine on the tracks, "Moon Palace," and "23 Minutes in Brussels." The
album was released to critical acclaim, with Rolling Stone declaring it one of the essential
albums of the '90s. The album featured a cover of Serge Gainsbourg's "Bonnie and Clyde"
as a hidden track and featured Dean in a duet with Laetitia Sadier of Stereolab. "Bonnie and
Clyde" was released as a single in the UK and named Melody Maker single of the week. Pup
    Tent followed in '97.

In 1999, the band recorded The Days Of Our Nights for Elektra, but the
label declined the album and dropped the band over commercial concerns. The record was
eventually released on Jericho in the U.S. and prior to the album's release, Justin Harwood
left to be replaced by Britta Phillips. After releasing Luna Live in 2001, Romantica in 2002
and Rendezvous in 2004 with their new line-up, the band announced their final tour at the
time, disbanding after a show at the Bowery Ballroom in February of 2005. Dean Wareham
and Britta Phillips continued as the duo Dean & Britta. In 2014, Dean announced that Luna
would reunite for a tour of Spain in 2015, to be followed by US dates.

    In 2017 they recorded
two new releases, a new covers LP called A Sentimental Journey and a 6-song instrumental
EP, A Place Of Greater Safety.

This brand new ROG collection of Elektra-era cover songs includes rare and out of print tracks
that have never been released or collected on full length vinyl. With new packaging design by
Frank Olinsky and updated audio fidelity, it's a dream come true for Luna collectors.

Juliana Hatfield is an American musician and singer songwriter from New England formerly of the indie rock bands Blake Babies, The Juliana Hatfield Three, Some Girls and the Lemonheads. She has also performed and recorded as one half of Minor Alps with Matthew Caws of Nada Surf and has performed with or made contributions to the Lemonheads, Belly, Giant Sand, Susanna Hoffs, Aimee Mann and Mary Lou Lord over the span of her career. Growing up in the Boston area, Hatfield acquired a love of rock music in the 1970s having been introduced to the Los Angeles punk band, "X." Hatfield transferred to the Berklee College of Music from Boston University, hoping to join a band. She formed the Blake Babies with Freda Love and John Strohm in 1986. She sang, played guitar, bass guitar and piano in the group. Blake Babies were signed to indie label, Mammoth Records, in North Carolina and received airplay on college radio during the early 1990s. Hatfield and Strohm shared songwriting duties and often sang together. The band toured the U.S. and Europe and made music videos. Hatfield received a degree in songwriting from Berklee during this period. The Blake Babies disbanded in 1991 but reunited briefly in 1999, performing shows that year and embarking on a US tour in 2001. They released the critically-acclaimed, "God Bless The Blake Babies," to coincide with the tour. Frequent collaborator, Evan Dando of the Lemonheads made a guest appearance on the album.

Following the immediate break-up of the Blake Babies back in 1991, Hatfield joined the Lemonheads to record their album, "It's A Shame About Ray," playing bass and providing back-up vocals. She played and sang with the band on and off between the years 1992-1993. Juliana released her first solo album, "Hey Babe," in 1992. The album was one of the highest selling independent albums of the year. She recruited a rhythm section consisting of former Moving Targets and Bullet LaVolta drummer Todd Phillips, and Thudpucker bassist Dean Fisher, becoming the Juliana Hatfield Three. The JH3 achieved arena-rock stardom with the release of 1993's "Become What You Are." Several songs from the album got regularly played on major US rock stations, with her song, "My Sister," becoming the biggest hit of her career. The song placed #1 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart and the video became a staple at MTV. The track "Spin the Bottle," was used in the soundtrack for the film "Reality Bites" in 1994 and Juliana made the cover of Spin magazine. In 1995 following the success of "Become What You Are," she released her follow up album, "Only Everything," in which she "turned up the volume and the distortion and had a lot of fun." The album, her first for Atlantic Records, spawned another alternative radio hit in "Universal Heartbeat." Before engaging on a tour for this record, Juliana released Phillips and hired Jason Sutter, Ed Slanker on guitar and Lisa Mednick on keyboards. Two weeks into the tour, she canceled remaining shows due to a bout with depression. She recently released two well received solo albums, "Pussycat" last year and "Juliana Hatfield Sings Olivia Newton-John" this year.

ROG will reissue her solo album "Only Everything," on vinyl since it debuted 23 years ago and make it available in the US for the first time with deluxe packaging.
